RESUMEN

The study included 41 patients (Uzbeks by nationality) with tuberculosis of the bones and joints. Of them 19 had localized tuberculosis and 22 disseminated process. The condition of T lymphocytes, B-lymphocytes and specific immunity were investigated by standard immunological methods. Typing by antigens HLA-DR was made with the help of standard microlymphocytotoxic test. It was established that patients with tuberculosis of the bones and joints have worse qualitative and quantitative characteristics of T lymphocytes, reduced number of B-lymphocytes, high specific response of lymphocytes to tuberculin compared to healthy subjects. Such patients have low B-cell level when they are free of antigen HLA-DR4. Carriers of HLA-DR2 antigen exhibit inhibited specific cellular immunity compared to those without this antigen.

RESUMEN

The paper deals with the findings of comparative morphologic and immunologic studies of immunomodulatory therapy for experimental tuberculosis on chronic exposure to pesticides (alpha-3) of 117 guinea pigs receiving decaris (levamisole), as an immunostimulator, and "mumiyo-acil", as a biostimulator. The specific features of every pathogenetic drug's effect on the tuberculous inflammation morphology, cellular-tissue reactions, cellular immune response and repair processes were defined. An optimum effect in the treatment of the pesticide-induced experimental tuberculosis can be achieved by the use of anti-bacterial drugs and "mumiyo-acil".

RESUMEN

Examination included 93 Uzbek patients with osteoarticular tuberculosis: 37 had localized and 56 disseminated tuberculosis process. All the patients were typified according to the HLA antigen locuses-A, B, C and DR by the standardized microlymphocytotoxic test. As a control, 135 healthy Uzbeks were typified by antigens of the same HLA locuses (105 subjects were typified by antigens of the HLA-DR locus). The patients with osteoarticular tuberculosis were found to have genetically controlled susceptibility to tuberculosis infection. The frequency of HLA, B7, B27 and DR2 antigens occurrence in tuberculosis patients is increased as compared to that in healthy subjects. In patients with a disseminated tuberculosis process, the frequency of HLA-Cw4 and HLA-DR4 antigens was increased to 33.9% and 44.6%, respectively, as compared to that in patients with a localized process (5.4% and 21.6%, respectively).

RESUMEN

The children born to tuberculosis mothers show a decline in T-lymphocyte count and in their functional activity, an increase in specific immunity parameters, which is manifested by a higher level of antituberculosis antibodies and a marked proliferative lymphocyte response to tuberculin. It has been established that the level of specific antibodies in children and their mothers is related to the clinical form of tuberculosis. The discovered features of specific and nonspecific immunity in newborns and infants born to tuberculosis mothers should be considered in the organization of preventive measures in this group of children.

RESUMEN

Preparations of anti-I--J alloantisera with higher activity were obtained by a new method, based on induction of expression of the I--J determinant in donor suppressor cells, immunization of mice with such cells, and subsequent elimination of contaminating anti-idiotypic antibodies from antisera by their adsorption on the cells of the recipient murine strain sharing induced idiotype with the donor cells. After adsorption anti-I--J activity remained unchanged. The antisera thus obtained were found active in the standard cytotoxic assay (working dilution greater than or equal to 1:20). The injection of anti-I--Jk antiserum to CBA mice prolonged the survival time of the animals and increased the parameters of the cell-mediated immunity after infection with Mycobacterium tuberculosis virulent strain H37Rv.

RESUMEN

The cellular receptor decay products R proteins and resultant product-immunoglobulin complexes, homoreactants showing the properties of natural antibodies and natural anti-sheep erythrocyte antibodies were analysed in their dynamics in 116 patients with infiltrative pulmonary tuberculosis. It was found that small homoreactant levels and relatively low titers of R proteins and natural sheep anti-erythrocyte antibodies were typical of patients with a limited process and favorable course due to effective treatment, the parameters being gradually normalized in their dynamics. In patients with a disseminated destructive process running an unfavorable course, all the values were much higher before the treatment and slightly changed during an ineffective therapy. It is suggested that the findings may be useful in the clinical management of pulmonary tuberculosis to predict its course and outcomes and to evaluate the efficacy of chemotherapy.

RESUMEN

Degradation products of cell receptors, R-proteins, their products complexes with immunoglobulins, hemoreactants and natural antibodies to sheep erythrocytes, were studied in 251 patients with active tuberculosis of the lungs and in 45 healthy persons. The results were indicative of significant changes in the indices as compared to the controls and association of the changes with the clinical form phase and extent of the specific process.
