RESUMEN
Locally advanced gastric adenocarcinoma has a poor outcome. Neoadjuvant treatment is being tested in locally advanced non-resectable tumours and in those resectable tumours with a high risk of recurrence. Efforts to identify prognostic factors and more active and less toxic preoperative regimens are being searched for. We report the case of a patient achieving a complete histopathological complete response following docetaxel- based neoadjuvant chemotherapy.

Oral ulcers are a frequent problem in transplant medicine. It is important to consider infectious etiologies, exacerbated by the immunosuppressive treatment, but other etiologies are also possible, like adverse drug reactions. Mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) is an immunosuppressive medication that has been used in combination with calcineurin inhibitors and steroids. Reports of renal transplant patients with oral ulcers related to MMF have appeared lately and herein we have described 2 cases in liver transplant patients. Their oral ulcers resolved quickly after suspension of the medication. Our 2 cases in liver transplant patients represented a unique setting for this type of complication.

Celiac sprue (CS) has been described in association with hepatitis C virus (HCV) as another immunologic manifestation of this infectious disease. We report 2 patients, a 42-year-old woman and a 59-year-old man, with chronic HCV hepatitis. Upper digestive endoscopy and duodenal biopsy were performed to investigate diverse symptoms. The results of histological analysis and serological study were compatible with CS. The association between both diseases, including immunological aspects and the implications of anti-HCV treatment, is discussed.

We report a previously healthy 29 years old man, presenting with a sudden episode of abdominal pain, mild jaundice, hepatomegaly and ascites. Magnetic resonance imaging study and liver biopsy were compatible with veno-occlusive disease. Incidentally, an ulcerative colitis and portal vein thrombosis were diagnosed. Anticoagulant treatment was started, with good clinical and radiological response. Veno-occlusive disease of the liver must be suspected In cases of liver failure and ascites associated to procoagulant conditions.

The authors present the clinical history of a male 44 year old patient who was hospitalized with the diagnosis of pericardial constriction and effusion and operated on as an emergency because of spontaneous cardiac rupture and was found to have a cardiac adenosarcoma. They review the literature in order to discuss a very rare cause of hemopericardium and constrictive pericarditis with epidemiologic, diagnostic, therapeutic and prognostic commentaries and secondly, to try to establish if this type case does not represent a diagnostic problem for the ecocardiographer since an angiosarcoma that occupies the pericardial space can be confused with a hemopericardium. They also mention other imaging studies that are used to better characterize and diagnose these tumors.

Stature and weight of native children, adolescents, and adults at Huancayo , Peru (3,280 meters), were measured in 1977, 1978, and 1982 and compared with mean statures and weights reported in previous studies. The data indicate that in Huancayo there has been a secular increment in child stature, sitting height, and weight from 1937 to 1978-1982. The observed changes in stature are related to a proportionally greater increment in leg length relative to trunk length. It is concluded that the observed secular increase in body size reflects changes in the standard of living and a greater influx of nonnative populations, which are usually characterized by greater stature than natives.
