ALDH (Aldehyde dehydrogenase), as an enzyme that encodes the dehydroxidization of aldehydes into corresponding carboxylic acids, played an important role inregulating gene expression in response to many kinds of biotic and abiotic stress, including saline-alkali stress. Saline-alkali stress was a common stress that seriously affected plant growth and productivity. Saline-alkali soil contained the characteristics of high salinity and high pH value, which could cause comprehensive damage such as osmotic stress, ion toxicity, high pH, and HCO3-/CO32- stress. In our study, 18 PaALDH genes were identified in sweet cherry genome, and their gene structures, phylogenetic analysis, chromosome localization, and promoter cis-acting elements were analyzed. Quantitative real-time PCR confirmed that PaALDH17 exhibited the highest expression compared to other members under saline-alkali stress. Subsequently, it was isolated from Prunus avium, and transgenic A. thaliana was successfully obtained. Compared with wild type, transgenic PaALDH17 plants grew better under saline-alkali stress and showed higher chlorophyll content, Superoxide dismutase (SOD), Peroxidase (POD) and Catalase (CAT) enzyme activities, which indicated that they had strong resistance to stress. These results indicated that PaALDH17 improved the resistance of sweet cherries to saline-alkali stress, which in turn improved quality and yields. Developing skeletal editing tools is not a trivial task, and realizing the corresponding single-atom transmutation in a ring system without altering the ring size is even more challenging. Here, we introduce a skeletal editing strategy that enables polycyclic arenols, a highly prevalent motif in bioactive molecules, to be readily converted into N-heteroarenes through carbon-nitrogen transmutation. The reaction features selective nitrogen insertion into the C-C bond of the arenol frameworks by azidative dearomatization and aryl migration, followed by ring-opening, and ring-closing (ANRORC) to achieve carbon-to-nitrogen transmutation in the aromatic framework of the arenol. Using widely available arenols as N-heteroarene precursors, this alternative approach allows the streamlined assembly of complex polycyclic heteroaromatics with broad functional group tolerance. Finally, pertinent transformations of the products, including synthesis complex biheteroarene skeletons, were conducted and exhibited significant potential in materials chemistry.

Nitrofurans are important synthetic broad-spectrum antibacterial drugs with the basic structure of 5-nitrofuran. Due to their toxicity, it is essential to develop a sensitive sensor with strong anti-interference capabilities for their detection. In this work, two {P4Mo6O31}12--based compounds, [H4(HPTTP)]2{CuI[Mo12O24(OH)6(PO4)3(HPO4)(H2PO4)4]}·xH2O (x = 13 for (1), 7 for (2); HPTTP = 4,4',4″,4‴-(1H-pyrrole-2,3,4,5-tetrayl)tetrapyridine), exhibiting similar coordination but distinct stacking modes. Both compounds were synthesized and used for the electrochemical detection of nitrofuran antibiotics. The tetrapyridine-based ligand was generated in situ during assembly, and its potential mechanism was discussed. Composite electrode materials, formed by mixing graphite powder with compounds 1-2 and physically grinding them, proved to be highly effective in the electrochemical trace detection of furazolidone (FZD) and furaltadone hydrochloride (FTD·HCl) under optimal conditions. Besides, the possible electrochemical detection mechanisms of two nitro-antibiotics were studied.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a group of non­coding RNAs that exert master regulatory functions in post­-transcriptional gene expression. Accumulating evidence shows that miRNAs can either promote or suppress tumorigenesis by regulating different target genes or pathways and may be involved in the occurrence of carcinoma. miR­409­3p is dysregulated in a variety of malignant cancers. It plays a fundamental role in numerous cellular biological processes, such as cell proliferation, apoptosis, migration, invasion, autophagy, angiogenesis and glycolysis. In addition, studies have shown that miR­409­3p is expected to become a non­invasive biomarker. Identifying the molecular mechanisms underlying miR­409­3p­mediated tumor progression will help investigate miR­409­3p­based targeted therapy for human cancers. The present review comprehensively summarized the recently published literature on miR­409­3p, with a focus on the regulation and function of miR­409­3p in various types of cancer, and discussed the clinical implications of miR­409­3p, providing new insight for the diagnosis and treatment of cancers.

Hydrogels are an attractive category of biointerfacing materials with adjustable mechanical properties, diverse biochemical functions, and good ionic conductivity. Despite these advantages, their application in electronics has been restricted because of their lack of semiconducting properties, and they have traditionally only served as insulators or conductors. We developed single- and multiple-network hydrogels based on a water-soluble n-type semiconducting polymer, endowing conventional hydrogels with semiconducting capabilities. These hydrogels show good electron mobilities and high on/off ratios, enabling the fabrication of complementary logic circuits and signal amplifiers with low power consumption and high gains. We demonstrate that hydrogel electronics with good bioadhesive and biocompatible interface can sense and amplify electrophysiological signals with enhanced signal-to-noise ratios.

Background: The relationship between serum antinuclear antibody (ANA) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) remains unknown. Therefore, we aimed to evaluate whether serum ANA was associated with an increased risk of RA in a case-control study. Methods: Patients with rheumatoid arthritis hospitalized at Shandong Provincial Hospital from January 2018 to December 2022 were recruited as the case group, and patients with other types of arthritis and healthy people at the same time were taken as the control group. Antinuclear antibody (ANA) was detected by indirect immunofluorescence assays. Propensity score matching was employed to construct a cohort of patients exhibiting comparable baseline characteristics. The relationship between serum ANA and the risk of rheumatoid arthritis was analyzed by logistic regression analysis. Results: A total of 1,175 patients with RA and 1,662 control subjects were included in this study. After adjusting for potential confounding factors in the propensity-score matched cohort, the risk of RA gradually increased with rising of ANA titers. When ANA titers were divided into three groups (1:100, 1:320, and 1:1,000), the OR (95% CI) for ANA titers from low to high was 3.95 (3.01, 5.18), 16.63 (9.44, 29.30), and 17.34 (9.53, 31.54), respectively, compared to those when ANA was negative. The ANA patterns closely related to the occurrence of RA include nuclear homogeneous, nuclear speckled, and cytoplasmic speckled. Among them, the positive rate of nuclear homogeneous was the highest, which accounted for 42.64%. The OR (95% CI) of ANA patterns including nuclear homogeneous, nuclear speckled, and cytoplasmic speckled was 16.81 (11.46, 24.65), 3.40 (2.49, 4.63), and 3.09 (1.77, 5.40), respectively. Conclusion: There was a curve relation between ANA titer and RA, and the higher the ANA titer, the higher the probability of RA. However, there was no statistical difference in probability of RA for 1:320 versus 1:1,000 ANA titers. The most important kind of ANA pattern in the blood of RA patients was nuclear homogeneous. These findings suggest that ANA may be a novel risk marker for RA.

BACKGROUND: Hypertension is a risk factor for atrial fibrillation (AF), and brain and muscle arnt-like protein 1 (Bmal1) regulate circadian blood pressure and is implicated in several fibrotic disorders. Our hypothesis that Bmal1 inhibits atrial fibrosis and susceptibility to AF in salt-sensitive hypertension (SSHT) and our study provide a new target for the pathogenesis of AF induced by hypertension. METHODS: The study involved 7-week-old male Dahl salt-sensitive that were fed either a high-salt diet (8% NaCl; DSH group) or a normal diet (0.3% NaCl; DSN group). An experimental model was used to measure systolic blood pressure (SBP), left atrial ejection fraction (LAEF), left atrial end-volume index (LAEVI), left atrial index (LAFI), AF inducibility, AF duration, and atrial fibrosis pathological examination and the expression of Baml1 and fibrosis-related proteins (TNF-α and α-SMA) in left atrial tissue. RESULTS: DSH increased TNF-α and α-SMA expression in atrial tissue, level of SBP and LAESVI, atrial fibrosis, AF induction rate and AF duration, and decreased Bmal1 expression in atrial tissue, circadian rhythm of hypertension and level of LAEF and LAFI. Our results also showed that the degree of atrial fibrosis was negatively correlated with Bmal1 expression, but positively correlated with the expression of TNF-α and α-SMA. CONCLUSIONS: We demonstrated that a high-salt diet leads to circadian changes in hypertension due to reduction Bmal1 expression, which plays a crucial role in atrial fibrosis and increased susceptibility to AF in SSHT rats.

Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is among the most common malignant tumors of the digestive tract, with the sixth highest fatality rate worldwide. The ESCC-related dataset, GSE20347, was downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database, and weighted gene coexpression network analysis was performed to identify genes that are highly correlated with ESCC. A total of 91 transcriptome expression profiles and their corresponding clinical information were obtained from The Cancer Genome Atlas database. A mitochondria-associated risk (MAR) model was constructed using the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator Cox regression analysis and validated using GSE161533. The tumor microenvironment and drug sensitivity were explored using the MAR model. Finally, in vitro experiments were performed to analyze the effects of hub genes on the proliferation and invasion abilities of ESCC cells. To confirm the predictive ability of the MAR model, we constructed a prognostic model and assessed its predictive accuracy. The MAR model revealed substantial differences in immune infiltration and tumor microenvironment characteristics between high- and low-risk populations and a substantial correlation between the risk scores and some common immunological checkpoints. AZD1332 and AZD7762 were more effective for patients in the low-risk group, whereas Entinostat, Nilotinib, Ruxolutinib, and Wnt.c59 were more effective for patients in the high-risk group. Knockdown of TYMS significantly inhibited the proliferation and invasive ability of ESCC cells in vitro. Overall, our MAR model provides stable and reliable results and may be used as a prognostic biomarker for personalized treatment of patients with ESCC.

PURPOSE: To evaluate the diagnostic performance of contrast-enhanced (CE) ultrasound using Sonazoid (SNZ-CEUS) by comparing with contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CE-CT) and contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (CE-MRI) for differentiating benign and malignant renal masses. MATERIALS AND METHODS: 306 consecutive patients (from 7 centers) with renal masses (40 benign tumors, 266 malignant tumors) diagnosed by both SNZ-CEUS, CE-CT or CE-MRI were enrolled between September 2020 and February 2021. The examinations were performed within 7 days, but the sequence was not fixed. Histologic results were available for 301 of 306 (98.37%) lesions and 5 lesions were considered benign after at least 2 year follow-up without change in size and image characteristics. The diagnostic performances were evaluated by sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, and compared by McNemar's test. RESULTS: In the head-to-head comparison, SNZ-CEUS and CE-MRI had comparable sensitivity (95.60 vs. 94.51%, P = 0.997), specificity (65.22 vs. 73.91%, P = 0.752), positive predictive value (91.58 vs. 93.48%) and negative predictive value (78.95 vs. 77.27%); SNZ-CEUS and CE-CT showed similar sensitivity (97.31 vs. 96.24%, P = 0.724); however, SNZ-CEUS had relatively lower than specificity than CE-CT (59.09 vs. 68.18%, P = 0.683). For nodules > 4 cm, CE-MRI demonstrated higher specificity than SNZ-CEUS (90.91 vs. 72.73%, P = 0.617) without compromise the sensitivity. CONCLUSIONS: SNZ-CEUS, CE-CT, and CE-MRI demonstrate desirable and comparable sensitivity for the differentiation of renal mass. However, the specificity of all three imaging modalities is not satisfactory. SNZ-CEUS may be a suitable alternative modality for patients with renal dysfunction and those allergic to gadolinium or iodine-based agents.

Conjugated polymers have demonstrated promising optoelectronic properties, but their brittleness and poor mechanical characteristics have hindered their fabrication into durable fibers and textiles. Here, we report a universal approach to continuously producing highly strong, ultratough conjugated polymer fibers using a flow-enhanced crystallization (FLEX) method. These fibers exhibit one order of magnitude higher tensile strength (>200 megapascals) and toughness (>80 megajoules per cubic meter) than traditional semiconducting polymer fibers and films, outperforming many synthetic fibers, ready for scalable production. These fibers also exhibit unique strain-enhanced electronic properties and exceptional performance when used as stretchable conductors, thermoelectrics, transistors, and sensors. This work not only highlights the influence of fluid mechanical effects on the crystallization and mechanical properties of conjugated polymers but also opens up exciting possibilities for integrating these functional fibers into wearable electronics.

Background: Repeated episodes of jaundice and pruritus are common in a group of autosomal recessive liver diseases known as benign recurrent intrahepatic cholestasis. Benign recurrent intrahepatic cholestasis (BRIC) is divided into two types, type 1 and type 2, and is caused by mutations in the ATP8B1 and ABCB11 genes. Here, we report a rare case of BRIC type 2 mutation. Case presentation: A 45-year-old Chinese man had three frequent episodes of jaundice marked by extensive excoriation and severe pruritis, although he had no prior history of jaundice. Laboratory investigations showed no evidence of liver damage caused by viral, autoimmune, or acquired metabolic etiologies. The CT scan revealed an enlarged gallbladder with numerous punctate high-density shadows, while no wall thickening was observed. Endoscopic ultrasonography showed no evidence of dilation of the intrahepatic and extrahepatic bile duct, as well as the absence of gallstone. Diagnostic evaluation: Immunohistochemical examinations of liver biopsy samples showed cytokeratin-7 positive hepatocytes, suggesting chronic intrahepatic cholestasis. The reticulin fiberstaining demonstrated that the portions of the hepatic plate in the center of the lobule were asymmetrically organized,and somewhat enlarged, with collapsed areas indicating intralobular inflammation. Moreover, there were areas of collapse that indicated the presence of intralobular inflammation. Whole exome sequencing revealed mutations in the ABCB11 gene; c.3084A>G, p.A1028A homozygous mutation (chr2-169789016), and c.2594C>T, p.A865V heterozygous mutation (chr2-169801131). Based on these findings, the final diagnosis of the patient was metabolism-related jaundice. Treatment: Apart from receiving tapering dosage of prednisone to lower bilirubin levels, the patient received no extra care. Conclusion: The comprehensive diagnosis of a middle-aged male patient with BRIC-2, which involved extensive radiological, hematological, and genetic investigations, informed a tailored tapering prednisone regimen, highlighting the importance of personalized medicine in managing atypical presentations of this rare cholestatic disorder.

BACKGROUND: Colorectal cancer has a low 5-year survival rate and high mortality. Human ß-defensin-1 (hBD-1) may play an integral function in the innate immune system, contributing to the recognition and destruction of cancer cells. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are involved in the process of cell differentiation and growth. AIM: To investigate the effect of hBD-1 on the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway and autophagy in human colon cancer SW620 cells. METHODS: CCK8 assay was utilized for the detection of cell proliferation and determination of the optimal drug concentration. Colony formation assay was employed to assess the effect of hBD-1 on SW620 cell proliferation. Bioinformatics was used to screen potentially biologically significant lncRNAs related to the mTOR pathway. Additionally, p-mTOR (Ser2448), Beclin1, and LC3II/I expression levels in SW620 cells were assessed through Western blot analysis. RESULTS: hBD-1 inhibited the proliferative ability of SW620 cells, as evidenced by the reduction in the colony formation capacity of SW620 cells upon exposure to hBD-1. hBD-1 decreased the expression of p-mTOR (Ser2448) protein and increased the expression of Beclin1 and LC3II/I protein. Furthermore, bioinformatics analysis identified seven lncRNAs (2 upregulated and 5 downregulated) related to the mTOR pathway. The lncRNA TCONS_00014506 was ultimately selected. Following the inhibition of the lncRNA TCONS_00014506, exposure to hBD-1 inhibited p-mTOR (Ser2448) and promoted Beclin1 and LC3II/I protein expression. CONCLUSION: hBD-1 inhibits the mTOR pathway and promotes autophagy by upregulating the expression of the lncRNA TCONS_00014506 in SW620 cells.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of G-CSF on the endometrial receptivity of implantation failure mice. Sixty female mice were treated mifepristone to establish an implant failure model. The treatment groups received different doses of G-CSF. Endometrial tissue and serum were collected on day 5 after mating. The abundance of pinopodes on the endometrium was observed by scanning electron microscopy. The expressions of LPAR3, COX2, and HOXA10 were detected by RT-qPCR and Western blotting. Serum levels of E2, P, VEGF, LIF, TNF-α and IL-10 were measured by ELISA. The expressions of VEGF, CD34, CD57, TNF-α, and IL-10 were assessed by immunohistochemistry. Immunofluorescence analysis was performed to determine the number of CD57, Treg, and Th17 cells. G-CSF increased implantation and pregnancy rates of mifepristone-induced implantation failure mice, with the most significant effect seen at the intermediate dose. G-CSF increased the serum levels of E2 and P, the abundance of endometrial pinopodes, and the level of LIF in the endometrium. It also promoted the expression of VEGF, HOXA10, LPAR3, and COX2. Moreover, G-CSF reduced the level of CD57 cells and the ratio of Th17/Treg cells in endometrium. G-CSF reduced the inflammatory factor TNF-α, but IL-10 did not change significantly. G-CSF can enhance embryo implantation rate and pregnancy rate and improve endometrial receptivity by attenuating degeneration of pinopodes, upregulating estrogen and progesterone, facilitating angiogenesis, maintaining immune cell homeostasis, and reducing the production of inflammatory cytokines in implantation failure mouse.

Intestinal stem cells (ISCs) sustain epithelial renewal by dynamically altering behaviors of proliferation and differentiation in response to various nutrition and stress inputs. However, how ISCs integrate bioactive substance morin cues to protect against heat-stable enterotoxin b (STb) produced by Escherichia coli remains an uncertain question with implications for treating bacterial diarrhea. Our recent work showed that oral mulberry leaf-derived morin improved the growth performance in STb-challenged mice. Furthermore, morin supplementation reinstated the impaired small-intestinal epithelial structure and barrier function by stimulating ISC proliferation and differentiation as well as supporting intestinal organoid expansion ex vivo. Importantly, the Wnt/ß-catenin pathway, an ISC fate commitment signal, was reactivated by morin to restore the jejunal crypt-villus architecture in response to STb stimulation. Mechanically, the extracellular morin-initiated ß-catenin axis is dependent or partially dependent on the Wnt membrane receptor Frizzled7 (FZD7). Our data reveal an unexpected role of leaf-derived morin, which represents molecular signaling targeting the FZD7 platform instrumental for controlling ISC regeneration upon STb injury.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Surface-based facial scanning registration emerged as an essential registration method in the robot-assisted neuronavigation surgery, providing a marker-free way to align a patient's facial surface with the imaging data. The 3-dimensional (3D) structured light was developed as an advanced registration method based on surface-based facial scanning registration. We aspire to introduce the 3D structured light as a new registration method in the procedure of the robot-assisted neurosurgery and assess the accuracy, efficiency, and safety of this method by analyzing the relative operative results. METHODS: We analyzed the results of 47 patients who underwent Ommaya reservoir implantation (n = 17) and stereotactic biopsy (n = 30) assisted by 3D structured light at our hospital from January 2022 to May 2023. The accuracy and additional operative results were analyzed. RESULTS: For the Ommaya reservoir implantation, the target point error was 3.2 ± 2.2 mm and the entry point error was 3.3 ± 2.4 mm, while the operation duration was 35.8 ± 8.3 minutes. For the stereotactic biopsy, the target point error was 2.3 ± 1.3 mm and the entry point error was 2.7 ± 1.2 mm, while the operation duration was 24.5 ± 6.3 minutes. CONCLUSION: The 3D structured light technique reduces the patients' discomfort and offers the advantage of a simpler procedure, which can improve the clinical efficiency with the sufficient accuracy and safety to meet the clinical requirements of the puncture and navigation.

Persistent organic pollutants (POPs) sourced by the forest fire release are emerging as significant contributors. Despite their increasing importance, the impact of forest fires on POPs remains inadequately explored and an unclear understanding. Herein, the research, choosing four typical forest combustibles, focuses on the relationship between typical POPs and wildfire parameters by assessing the predominant compounds and their concentration in POPs emissions from such fuels through molecular-level analysis. Experiments reveal forest combustibles thermally degrade to release products, releasing a variety of products, including acids (>7.94 %), aldehydes (>2.32 %), ketones (>3.40 %), alcohols (>7.70 %), esters (>2.33 %), ethers (>4.44 %), hydrocarbons (>6.36 %), aromatic compounds (>21.40 %), and nitrogen-bearing compounds (>11.83 %); notably, aromatic compounds, containing substantial concentrations, are also recognized as POPs. By delving into the pyrolysis (20 °C·ms-1) and burning processes (25, 35 and 50 kW/m2) of forest combustibles, we can gain a comprehensive understanding of the origin of POPs in wildfires. Moreover, Pearson correlation analysis is employed to establish connections between emitting volatiles and forest fire risk, further unveiling a significant correlation between fire hazards of forest combustibles and the presence of aromatic compounds (Correlation over 0.8). These findings are crucial for comprehending the POPs in forests and evaluating forest fire hazards at the molecular level.

Photocatalytic selective oxidation plays an important role in developing green chemistry. However, it is challenging to design an efficient photocatalyst for controlling the selectivity of photocatalytic oxidation reaction and exploring its detailed mechanism. Here, we synthesized three conjugated microporous polymers (CMPs) with D-A structures, named M-SATE-CMPs (MZn, Cu and Co), with different d-band centers based on different metal centers, resulting in the discrepancy in adsorption and activation capacities for the reactants, which produces the selectivity of ß-keto esters being catalyzed into α-hydroperoxide ß-keto esters (ROOH) or to α-hydroxyl ß-keto esters (ROH). Density functional theory (DFT) calculations also demonstrate that the adsorption and activation capacities of the metal active centers in M-SATE-CMPs (MZn, Cu and Co) for ROOH are the key factors to influence the photocatalytic selective oxidation of ß-keto ester. This study provides a promising strategy for designing a metallaphotoredox catalyst whose photocatalytic selectivity depends on the d-band center of metal site in the catalyst.

The Chinese tree shrew ( Tupaia belangeri chinensis), a member of the mammalian order Scandentia, exhibits considerable similarities with primates, including humans, in aspects of its nervous, immune, and metabolic systems. These similarities have established the tree shrew as a promising experimental model for biomedical research on cancer, infectious diseases, metabolic disorders, and mental health conditions. Herein, we used meta-transcriptomic sequencing to analyze plasma, as well as oral and anal swab samples, from 105 healthy asymptomatic tree shrews to identify the presence of potential zoonotic viruses. In total, eight mammalian viruses with complete genomes were identified, belonging to six viral families, including Flaviviridae, Hepeviridae, Parvovirinae, Picornaviridae, Sedoreoviridae, and Spinareoviridae. Notably, the presence of rotavirus was recorded in tree shrews for the first time. Three viruses - hepacivirus 1, parvovirus, and picornavirus - exhibited low genetic similarity (<70%) with previously reported viruses at the whole-genome scale, indicating novelty. Conversely, three other viruses - hepacivirus 2, hepatovirus A and hepevirus - exhibited high similarity (>94%) to known viral strains. Phylogenetic analyses also revealed that the rotavirus and mammalian orthoreovirus identified in this study may be novel reassortants. These findings provide insights into the diverse viral spectrum present in captive Chinese tree shrews, highlighting the necessity for further research into their potential for cross-species transmission.

Canine atopic dermatitis (cAD) is a common chronic inflammatory skin disease, which seriously affects the quality of life for both dogs and their owners. Currently, the common therapeutic drugs in the clinic have disadvantages such as obvious adverse effects and high prices. Traditional Chinese herbal medicine (TCHM) has great potential for the treatment of cAD. The aim of this study is to compare the effects of different doses of the TCHM product (Dihuang Guiqin capsule) and oclacitinib in the treatment of cAD through a randomized, double-blind trial. Sixty dogs diagnosed with AD were randomly and evenly divided into four groups (n = 15). The TCHM treatment group consisted of three subgroups that received three different oral doses (20, 40, and 60 mg/kg BW), while the control group received 0.5 mg/kg BW of oclacitinib. Each group was administered twice daily for 14 consecutive days. The results showed that both TCHM and oclacitinib significantly improved cAD-induced itching (evaluated by pVAS) and skin lesions (evaluated by CADESI-04), while interleukin 31 (IL-31) concentrations decreased significantly (P < 0.05) and serum biochemical indicators returned to normal. In particular, The therapeutic effects of TCHM medium- and high-dose groups were similar to those of oclacitinib (P > 0.05). The preliminary recommended dose of Dihuang Guiqin capsule for the treatment of cAD has been determined to be 40-60 mg/kg BW twice daily for 14 consecutive days, which can be reduced to once daily as appropriate. Dihuang Guiqin capsule was safe and well tolerated, which may be a new option for the treatment of cAD.

Organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs) have attracted increasing attention due to their merits of high transconductance, low operating voltage, and good biocompatibility, ideal for biosensors. However, further advances in their practical applications face challenges of low n-type performance and poor stability. Here, it is demonstrated that wet-spinning the commercially available n-type conjugated polymer poly(benzimidazobenzophenanthroline) (BBL) into highly aligned and crystalline fibers enhances both OECT performance and stability. Although BBL is only soluble in high-boiling-point strong acids, it can be wet-spun into high-quality fibers with adjustable diameters. The BBL fiber OECTs exhibit a record-high area-normalized transconductance (gm,A ) of 2.40 µS µm-2 and over 10 times higher figure-of-merit (µC*) than its thin-film counterparts. More importantly, these fiber OECTs exhibit remarkable stability with no noticeable performance attenuation after 1500 cycles over 4 h operation, outperforming all previously reported n-type OECTs. The superior performance and stability can be attributed to shorter π-π stacking distance and ordered molecular arrangement in the fibers, endowing the BBL fiber OECT-based biosensors with outstanding sensitivity while keeping a miniaturized form factor. This work demonstrates that, beyond new material development, developing new fabrication technology is also crucial for addressing the performance and stability issues in n-type OECTs.
