RESUMEN

Background: The emergence of the green supply chain represents a natural evolution from the traditional model. However, this transition has created trust concerns in operational processes. Fortunately, blockchain technology offers a promising solution to address this issue and help businesses overcome related obstacles. As artificial intelligence and blockchain continue to advance, enterprises are increasingly exploring opportunities for green innovation investments, although the optimal timing for successful product innovation can be difficult to predict. Methods: The effects of successful innovation on eco-friendly supply chains are analyzed through various factors such as optimal investment strategy, level of blockchain technology, and overall system profit. Differential game theory is used to determine the most effective approach across three alliance modes: horizontal cooperative, non-cooperative, and vertical cooperative. Additionally, the impact of innovation uncertainty on member strategies and alliance selection is thoroughly examined. Results: According to the results, predicting the likelihood of innovation realization can influence decision makers to prioritize current profits. Both horizontal and vertical cooperative alliance models can lead to Pareto improvements in total system profit, both before and after innovation success. However, the vertical cooperative alliance model proves to be more effective, especially at higher realization rates. Green suppliers stand to benefit from the vertical cooperative alliance model, as it can enhance their innovative investment strategy, while platform cooperation does not significantly affect their strategy. Platforms, on the other hand, can benefit from the vertical cooperative alliance model, as it can promote their innovative investment strategy and level of blockchain technology.

With the growth of people's demand for loans, banks and other financial institutions put forward higher requirements for customer credit risk level classification, the purpose is to make better loan decisions and loan amount allocation and reduce the pre-loan risk. This article proposes a Multi-Level Classification based Ensemble and Feature Extractor (MLCEFE) that incorporates the strengths of sampling, feature extraction, and ensemble classification. MLCEFE uses SMOTE + Tomek links to solve the problem of data imbalance and then uses a deep neural network (DNN), auto-encoder (AE), and principal component analysis (PCA) to transform the original variables into higher-level abstract features for feature extraction. Finally, it combined multiple ensemble learners to improve the effect of personal credit risk multi-classification. During performance evaluation, MLCEFE has shown remarkable results in the multi-classification of personal credit risk compared with other classification methods.

With the increasing complexity of the electromagnetic environment, there is a growing demand for the manipulation of electromagnetic waves, leading to the rapid development in configurable microwave absorbers. All-dielectric absorbers offer broadband and high-intensity absorption effects in microwave absorption and shielding. However, they face a significant challenge: their performance is not adjustable once the design is completed. In this study, we propose a solution to this problem by creating all-dielectric absorbers with flexibly configurable absorbing properties. We achieve this by designing a composite material of ionogels/nano-graphite sheets into compressible deformable absorbing units that can be molded into different shapes using 3D printing modes. The plasticity allows us to change the performance of the all-dielectric absorber, including the microwave absorption intensity, absorption peak, frequency bandwidths, and wide-angle absorption performance. With this approach, we can flexibly manipulate electromagnetic waves using all-dielectric absorbers through different plasticity models.

INTRODUCTION: The acute levodopa challenge test (ALCT) is an important and valuable examination but there are still some shortcomings with it. We aimed to objectively assess ALCT based on a depth camera and filter out the best indicators. METHODS: Fifty-nine individuals with parkinsonism completed ALCT and the improvement rate (IR, which indicates the change in value before and after levodopa administration) of the Movement Disorder Society-Sponsored Revision of the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale part III (MDS-UPDRS III) was calculated. The kinematic features of the patients' movements in both the OFF and ON states were collected with an Azure Kinect depth camera. RESULTS: The IR of MDS-UPDRS III was significantly correlated with the IRs of many kinematic features for arising from a chair, pronation-supination movements of the hand, finger tapping, toe tapping, leg agility, and gait (rs = - 0.277 ~ - 0.672, P < 0.05). Moderate to high discriminative values were found in the selected features in identifying a clinically significant response to levodopa with sensitivity, specificity, and area under the curve (AUC) in the range of 50-100%, 47.22%-97.22%, and 0.673-0.915, respectively. The resulting classifier combining kinematic features of toe tapping showed an excellent performance with an AUC of 0.966 (95% CI = 0.922-1.000, P < 0.001). The optimal cut-off value was 21.24% with sensitivity and specificity of 94.44% and 87.18%, respectively. CONCLUSION: This study demonstrated the feasibility of measuring the effect of levodopa and objectively assessing ALCT based on kinematic data derived from an Azure Kinect-based system.

INTRODUCTION: Gait and posture abnormalities are the common disabling motor symptoms in Parkinson's disease (PD). This study aims to investigate the differential characteristics of gait and posture in early-onset PD (EOPD) and late-onset PD (LOPD) using the Kinect depth camera. METHODS: Eighty-eight participants, including two subgroups of 22 PD patients and two subgroups of 22 healthy controls (HC) matched for age, sex, and height, were enrolled. Gait and posture features were quantitatively assessed using a Kinect-based system. A two-way analysis of variance was used to compare the difference between different subgroups. RESULTS: EOPD had a significantly higher Gait score than LOPD (p = 0.031). Specifically, decreased swing phase (p = 0.034) was observed in the EOPD group. Although the Posture score was similar between the two groups, LOPD was characterized by an increased forward flexion angle of the trunk at the thorax (p = 0.042) and a decreased forward flexion angle of the head relative to the trunk (p = 0.009). Additionally, age-independent features were observed in both PD subgroups, and post hoc tests revealed that EOPD generally performed worse gait features. In comparison, LOPD was characterized by worse performance in posture features. CONCLUSIONS: EOPD and LOPD exhibit different profiles of gait and posture features. The phenotype-specific characteristics likely reflect the distinct neurodegenerative processes between them.

The mercaptomethyl radical (·CH2SH) is a higher-energy isomer of the methylthio radical (CH3S·) that has been proposed as an important intermediate in atmospheric and interstellar sulfur chemistry. Herein, we report the spectroscopic identification of ·CH2SH during the UV (365 nm) photolysis of CH3S· in a solid Ar-matrix at 10 K. Upon subsequent irradiation at 266 nm, the dehydrogenation of ·CH2SH to yield CS via the intermediacy of the elusive thioformyl radical (HCS·) has also been observed. The characterization of ·CH2SH and HCS· with matrix-isolation IR and UV-vis spectroscopy is supported by 13C-isotope labeling and quantum chemical calculations at the CCSD(T)-F12a/cc-pVTZ-F12 level using configuration-selective vibrational configuration interaction theory (VCI). The disclosed photochemistry of ·CH2SH provides new insight into understanding the chemical evolution of organosulfur molecules in the interstellar medium (ISM).

BACKGROUND: Frailty is common in Parkinson's disease (PD) and increases vulnerability to adverse outcomes. Early detection of this syndrome aids in early intervention. AIMS: To objectively identify frailty at an early stage during routine motor tasks in PD patients using a Kinect-based system. METHODS: PD patients were recruited and assessed with the Fried criteria to determine their frailty status. Each participant was recorded performing the Movement Disorder Society-Sponsored Revision of the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale part III (MDS-UPDRS III) extremity tasks with a Kinect-based system. Statistically significant kinematic parameters were selected to discriminate the pre-frail from the non-frail group. RESULTS: Of the fifty-two participants, twenty were non-frail and thirty-two were pre-frail. Decreased frequency in finger tapping (P = 0.005), hand grasping (P = 0.002), toe tapping (P = 0.002), and leg agility (P = 0.019) alongside reduced hand grasping speed (P = 0.030), lifting (P < 0.001) and falling speed (P < 0.001) in leg agility were observed in the pre-frail group. Amplitude in leg agility (P = 0.048) and amplitude decrement rate (P = 0.046) in hand grasping showed marginally significant differences between two groups. Moderate discriminative values were found in frequency and speed of the extremity tasks to identify pre-frailty with sensitivity, specificity, and area under the curve (AUC) in the range of 45.00-85.00%, 68.75-100%, and 0.701-0.836, respectively. The combination of frequency and speed in extremity tasks showed moderate to high discriminatory ability, with AUC of 0.775 (95% CI 0.637-0.913, P < 0.001) for upper limb tasks and 0.909 (95% CI 0.832-0.987, P < 0.001) for lower limb tasks. When combining these features in both upper and lower limb tasks, the AUC increased to 0.942 (95% CI 0.886-0.999, P < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: Our findings demonstrated the promise of utilizing Kinect-based kinematic data from MDS-UPDRS III tasks as early indicators of frailty in PD patients.

Based on the Jilin Songyuan gas pipeline accident, FLACS software was used to numerically simulate its leakage and explosion process in order to study the change law of the equivalent gas cloud volume of gas leakage diffusion under various influencing factors. The simulation results were compared and analyzed with the accident investigation report in order to ensure the accuracy of the simulation results. On this premise, the three primary influencing factors-the obstacle distribution technique, the ambient wind speed magnitude, and the ambient temperature-are varied in order to study the equivalent gas cloud volume variation features of the leaking gas cloud. The findings indicate a positive association between the maximum equivalent gas cloud volume of the leaking gas cloud and the density of the obstacle distribution. There is a positive correlation between ambient wind speed and the equivalent gas cloud volume when the ambient wind speed is less than 5.0 m/s, and a negative correlation between ambient wind speed and the equivalent gas cloud volume when the ambient wind speed is greater than or equal to 5.0 m/s. A drop in Q8 is proportionately increased by around 5% for every 10 °C increase in ambient temperature when the temperature is below room temperature. There is a positive association between ambient temperature and the equivalent gas cloud volume Q8. When the temperature is higher than room temperature, the drop in Q8 is correspondingly increased by about 3% for every 10 °C increase in ambient temperature.

Objective: To quantify bradykinesia in Parkinson's disease (PD) with a Kinect depth camera-based motion analysis system and to compare PD and healthy control (HC) subjects. Methods: Fifty PD patients and twenty-five HCs were recruited. The Movement Disorder Society-Sponsored Revision of the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale part III (MDS-UPDRS III) was used to evaluate the motor symptoms of PD. Kinematic features of five bradykinesia-related motor tasks were collected using Kinect depth camera. Then, kinematic features were correlated with the clinical scales and compared between groups. Results: Significant correlations were found between kinematic features and clinical scales (P < 0.05). Compared with HCs, PD patients exhibited a significant decrease in the frequency of finger tapping (P < 0.001), hand movement (P < 0.001), hand pronation-supination movements (P = 0.005), and leg agility (P = 0.003). Meanwhile, PD patients had a significant decrease in the speed of hand movements (P = 0.003) and toe tapping (P < 0.001) compared with HCs. Several kinematic features exhibited potential diagnostic value in distinguishing PD from HCs with area under the curve (AUC) ranging from 0.684-0.894 (P < 0.05). Furthermore, the combination of motor tasks exhibited the best diagnostic value with the highest AUC of 0.955 (95% CI = 0.913-0.997, P < 0.001). Conclusion: The Kinect-based motion analysis system can be applied to evaluate bradykinesia in PD. Kinematic features can be used to differentiate PD patients from HCs and combining kinematic features from different motor tasks can significantly improve the diagnostic value.

Recently, potassium-ion batteries (PIBs) have been considered as one of the most promising energy storage systems; however, the slow kinetics and large volume variation induced by the large radius of potassium ions (K+) during chemical reactions lead to inferior structural stability and weak electrochemical activity for most potassium storage anodes. Herein, a multilevel space confinement strategy is proposed for developing zinc-cobalt bimetallic selenide (ZnSe/Co0.85Se@NC@C@rGO) as high-efficient anodes for PIBs by in-situ carbonizing and subsequently selenizing the resorcinol-formaldehyde (RF)-coated zeolitic imidazolate framework-8/zeolitic imidazolate framework-67 (ZIF-8/ZIF-67) encapsulated into 2D graphene. The highly porous carbon microcubes derived from ZIF-8/ZIF-67 and carbon shell arising from RF provide rich channels for ion/electron transfer, present a rigid skeleton to ensure the structural stability, offer space for accommodating the volume change, and minimize the agglomeration of active material during the insertion/extraction of large-radius K+. In addition, the three-dimensional (3D) carbon network composed of graphene and RF-derived carbon-coated microcubes accelerates the electron/ion transfer rate and improves the electrochemical reaction kinetics of the material. As a result, the as-synthesized ZnSe/Co0.85Se@NC@C@rGO as the anode of PIBs possesses the excellent rate capability of 203.9 mA h g-1 at 5 A g-1 and brilliant long-term cycling performance of 234 mA h g-1 after 2,000 cycles at 2 A g-1. Ex-situ X-ray diffraction (Ex-situ XRD) diffraction reveals that the intercalation/de-intercalation of K+ proceeds through the conversion-alloying reaction. The proposed strategy based on the spatial confinement engineering is highly effective to construct high-performance anodes for PIBs.

The discovery of biological activities of natural products plays a vital part in drug development. The mechanism by which organisms respond to temperature changes via biosynthesis of natural products remained largely cryptic. A thermophilic fungus under cold stress turned black and accumulated a polyketide metabolite 1 and lipid mass. Deficiency in 1 caused melanin loss and accumulated extra lipid mass, unexpectedly leading to seriously damaged mitochondria diagnostic for ferroptosis. Further analysis revealed that lipid mass induced by cold stress intensively increased ferroptosis risk and 1 functioned as cell wall reinforcer against mass lipid accumulation and as reactive oxygen species scavenger against lipid peroxidation. We also found that melanin in mice lowered lipid level but enhanced animal resistance to cold stress. Treatment with melanin precursors significantly increased mouse cell survival rate under cold stress. Our results unveiled a metabolite-lipid-ferroptosis-cold relationship, which provided mechanistic insights into the functions of most common metabolites and into diseases related to cold stress. These findings opened a perspective for developing anti-cold and anti-ferroptosis therapeutics and agents.

Our previous study reported that seminaturally occurring arthrocolins A to C with unprecedented carbon skeletons could restore the antifungal activity of fluconazole against fluconazole-resistant Candida albicans. Here, we showed that arthrocolins synergized with fluconazole, reducing the fluconazole minimum and dramatically augmenting the survivals of 293T human cells and nematode Caenorhabditis elegans infected with fluconazole-resistant C. albicans. Mechanistically, fluconazole can induce fungal membrane permeability to arthrocolins, leading to the intracellular arthrocolins that were critical to the antifungal activity of the combination therapy by inducing abnormal cell membranes and mitochondrial dysfunctions in the fungus. Transcriptomics and reverse transcription-quantitative PCR (qRT-PCR) analysis indicated that the intracellular arthrocolins induced the strongest upregulated genes that were involved in membrane transports while the downregulated genes were responsible for fungal pathogenesis. Moreover, riboflavin metabolism and proteasomes were the most upregulated pathways, which were accompanied by inhibition of protein biosynthesis and increased levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS), lipids, and autophagy. Our results suggested that arthrocolins should be a novel class of synergistic antifungal compounds by inducing mitochondrial dysfunctions in combination with fluconazole and provided a new perspective for the design of new bioactive antifungal compounds with potential pharmacological properties. IMPORTANCE The prevalence of antifungal-resistant Candida albicans, which is a common human fungal pathogen causing life-threatening systemic infections, has become a challenge in the treatment of fungal infections. Arthrocolins are a new type of xanthene obtained from Escherichia coli fed with a key fungal precursor toluquinol. Different from those artificially synthesized xanthenes used as important medications, arthrocolins can synergize with fluconazole against fluconazole-resistant Candida albicans. Fluconazole can induce the fungal permeability of arthrocolins into fungal cells, and then the intracellular arthrocolins exerted detrimental effects on the fungus by inducing fungal mitochondrial dysfunctions, leading to dramatically reduced fungal pathogenicity. Importantly, the combination of arthrocolins and fluconazole are effective against C. albicans in two models, including human cell line 293T and nematode Caenorhabditis elegans. Arthrocolins should be a novel class of antifungal compounds with potential pharmacological properties.

Objectives: This study analyzed the clinical and imaging characteristics of patients with cancer-related cryptogenic stroke (CCS) involving the bilateral anterior and the posterior circulations (three circulations) and evaluate the diagnostic value of clinical and imaging features for patients with cryptogenic stroke involving three circulations (CST). Methods: Of the 12,580 patients with acute ischemic stroke, 148 patients with CST from May 2017 to November 2021 were divided into the cancer group (n = 81) and the non-cancer group (n = 67). Cardiovascular risk factors, diffusion-weighted imaging patterns of cryptogenic stroke, blood routine, coagulation routine, and biochemical routine were compared between the two groups. Multivariable logistic regression and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis were used to determine associations between the two groups. Results: Compared with the non-cancer group, the cancer group exhibited higher D-dimer levels (P < 0.001), fibrin degradation product (FDP, P < 0.001), international normalized ratio (INR, P = 0.014), neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR, P < 0.001), platelets to lymphocyte ratio (PLR, P = 0.001), activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT, P = 0.039), more frequent multiple lesions in three circulations (P < 0.001) and lower lymphocytes (P < 0.001), red blood cells (P < 0.001), and thrombin time (TT, P = 0.034). Furthermore, D-dimer [area under the curve (AUC) = 0.915, P < 0.001)], FDP (AUC = 0.923, P < 0.001), INR (AUC = 0.617, P = 0.014), NLR (AUC = 0.700, P < 0.001), PLR (AUC = 0.658, P = 0.001), and multiple lesions in three circulations (AUC = 0.786, P < 0.001) had potential diagnostic value in cryptogenic stroke. When combining these 6 parameters, the predictive power was improved (AUC = 0.949, P < 0.001). Conclusion: Cryptogenic stroke involving three circulations with cancer has unique clinical features, and these potential diagnostic indicators could help patients identify CCS earlier.

Purpose: In view of the fact that Acinetobacter baumannii bloodstream infection(BSI) is a great threat to human survival, early identification of the risk factors affecting prognosis will be of great benefit to the clinic. Patients and Methods: A propensity score matching method was used to collect patients identified with Acinetobacter baumannii BSI from 2016 to 2020 from a reputable hospital in China. Results: A total of 398 patients were considered. According to the 28-day prognosis, they were divided into the survival group 150 (37.7%) and the death group 248 (62.3%), and the prognosis was analyzed. Gut microbiota have important implications for health by affecting the metabolism of diet and drugs. However, the specific microbial mediators and their mechanisms in modulating specific key intermediate metabolites from fungal origins still remain largely unclear. Toluquinol, as a key versatile precursor metabolite, is commonly distributed in many fungi, including Penicillium species and their strains for food production. The common 17 gut microbes were cultivated and fed with and without toluquinol. Metabolic analysis revealed that four strains, including the predominant Enterococcus species, could metabolize toluquinol and produce different metabolites. Chemical investigation on large-scale cultures led to isolation of four targeted metabolites and their structures were characterized with NMR, MS, and X-ray diffraction analysis, as four toluquinol derivatives (1-4) through O1/O4-acetyl and C5/C6-methylsulfonyl substitutions, respectively. The four metabolites were first synthesized in living organisms. Further experiments suggested that the rare methylsulfonyl groups in 3-4 were donated from solvent DMSO through Fenton's reaction. Metabolite 1 displayed the strongest inhibitory effect on cancer cells A549, A2780, and G401 with IC50 values at 0.224, 0.204, and 0.597 µM, respectively, while metabolite 3 displayed no effect. Our results suggest that the dominant Enterococcus species could modulate potential precursors of fungal origin and change their biological activity.

BACKGROUND: Liver dysfunction and liver failure are serious complications of sepsis, directly leading to septic progression and death. Now, there is no specific therapeutics available for sepsis-related liver dysfunction. Prim-O-glucosylcimifugin (POG), a chromone richest in the roots of Saposhnikovia divaricata (Turcz.) Schischk, is usually used to treat headache, rheumatoid arthritis and tetanus. While, the underlying mechanisms of POG against sepsis-induced liver damage and dysfunction are still not clear. PURPOSE: To study the anti-sepsis effect of POG, and its pharmacological mechanism to protect liver injury by weakening the function of macrophages in septic livers through inhibiting NOD-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome pathway. METHOD: In vivo experiments, septic mouse model was induced by cecal ligation and puncture (CLP), and then the mortality was detected, liver inflammatory damages and plasma biomarkers of liver injury were evaluated by histopathological staining and biochemical assays, respectively. In vitro experiments, mouse primary peritoneal macrophages were treated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and ATP, and then the activated-inflammasomes, macrophage migration and polarization were detected by ASC immunofluorescence staining, transwell and flow cytometry assays, respectively. NLRP3 inflammasome components NLRP3, caspase-1, IL-1ß and IL-18 protein expressions were detected using western blot assays, and the contents of IL-1ß and IL-18 were measured by ELISA assays. RESULTS: POG treatment significantly decreased the mortality, liver inflammatory damages, hepatocyte apoptosis and plasma biomarkers of liver injury in CLP-challenged male WT mice, which were comparable to those in ibuprofen (a putative anti-inflammatory drug)-supplemented septic male WT mice and septic NLRP3 deficient-male mice. POG supplementation significantly suppressed NLRP3 inflammasome activation in septic liver tissues and cultured macrophages, by significantly reducing NLRP3, cleaved-caspase-1, IL-1ß and IL-18 levels, the activated-inflammasome ASC specks, and macrophage infiltration and migration, as well as M1-like polarization, but significantly increasing M2-like polarization. These findings were similar to the pharmacological effects of ibuprofen, NLRP3 deficiency, and a special NLRP3 inhibitor, MCC950. CONCLUSION: POG protected against sepsis by inhibiting NLRP3 inflammasome-mediated macrophage activation in septic liver and attenuating liver inflammatory injury, indicating that it may be a potential anti-sepsis drug candidate.

Gait disturbance is a prototypical feature of Parkinson's disease (PD), and the quantification of gait using wearable sensors is promising. This study aimed to identify gait impairment in the early and progressive stages of PD according to the Hoehn and Yahr (H-Y) scale. A total of 138 PD patients and 56 healthy controls (HCs) were included in our research. We collected gait parameters using the JiBuEn gait-analysis system. For spatiotemporal gait parameters and kinematic gait parameters, we observed significant differences in stride length (SL), gait velocity, the variability of SL, heel strike angle, and the range of motion (ROM) of the ankle, knee, and hip joints between HCs and PD patients in H-Y Ⅰ-Ⅱ. The changes worsened with the progression of PD. The differences in the asymmetry index of the SL and ROM of the hip were found between HCs and patients in H-Y Ⅳ. Additionally, these gait parameters were significantly associated with Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale and Parkinson's Disease Questionnaire-39. This study demonstrated that gait impairment occurs in the early stage of PD and deteriorates with the progression of the disease. The gait parameters mentioned above may help to detect PD earlier and assess the progression of PD.

Background: Axial disturbances are the most disabling symptoms of Parkinson's disease (PD). Kinect-based objective measures could extract motion characteristics with high reliability and validity. Purpose: The present research aimed to quantify the therapy-response of axial motor symptoms to daily medication regimen and to explore the correlates of the improvement rate (IR) of axial motor symptoms based on a Kinect camera. Materials and methods: We enrolled 44 patients with PD and 21 healthy controls. All 65 participants performed the Movement Disorder Society-Sponsored Revision of the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale part III and the Kinect-based kinematic evaluation to assess arising from a chair, gait, posture, and postural stability before and after medication. Spearman's correlation analysis and multiple linear regression model were performed to explore the relationships between motor feature IR and clinical data. Results: All the features arising from a chair (P = 0.001), stride length (P = 0.001), velocity (P < 0.001), the height of foot lift (P < 0.001), and turning time (P = 0.001) improved significantly after a daily drug regimen in patients with PD. In addition, the anterior trunk flexion (lumbar level) exhibited significant improvement (P = 0.004). The IR of the axial motor symptoms score was significantly correlated with the IRs of kinematic features for gait velocity, stride length, foot lift height, and sitting speed (r s = 0.345, P = 0.022; r s = 0.382, P = 0.010; r s = 0.314, P = 0.038; r s = 0.518, P < 0.001, respectively). A multivariable regression analysis showed that the improvement in axial motor symptoms was associated with the IR of gait velocity only (ß = 0.593, 95% CI = 0.023-1.164, P = 0.042). Conclusion: Axial symptoms were not completely drug-resistant, and some kinematic features can be improved after the daily medication regimen of patients with PD.

Postural abnormalities are common disabling motor complications affecting patients with Parkinson's disease (PD). We proposed a summary index for postural abnormalities (IPA) based on Kinect depth camera and explored the clinical value of this indicator. Seventy individuals with PD and thirty age-matched healthy controls (HCs) were enrolled. All participants were tested using a Kinect-based system with IPA automatically obtained by algorithms. Significant correlations were detected between IPA and the Movement Disorder Society-Sponsored Revision of the Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (MDS-UPDRS) total score (rs = 0.369, p = 0.002), MDS-UPDRS-III total score (rs = 0.431, p < 0.001), MDS-UPDRS-III 3.13 score (rs = 0.573, p < 0.001), MDS-UPDRS-III-bradykinesia score (rs = 0.311, p = 0.010), the 39-item Parkinson's Disease Questionnaire (PDQ-39) (rs = 0.272, p = 0.0027) and the Berg Balance Scale (BBS) score (rs = -0.350, p = 0.006). The optimal cut-off value of IPA for distinguishing PD from HCs was 12.96 with a sensitivity of 97.14%, specificity of 100.00%, area under the curve (AUC) of 0.999 (0.997-1.002, p < 0.001), and adjusted AUC of 0.998 (0.993-1.000, p < 0.001). The optimal cut-off value of IPA for distinguishing between PD with and without postural abnormalities was 20.14 with a sensitivity, specificity, AUC and adjusted AUC of 77.78%, 73.53%, 0.817 (0.720-0.914, p < 0.001), and 0.783 (0.631-0.900, p < 0.001), respectively. IPA was significantly correlated to the clinical manifestations of PD patients, and could reflect the global severity of postural abnormalities in PD with important value in distinguishing PD from HCs and distinguishing PD with postural abnormalities from those without.
