BACKGROUND: This study aims to assess the associations of admission systolic blood pressure (SBP) level with spontaneous reperfusion (SR) and long-term prognosis in ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients. METHODS: Data from 3809 STEMI patients who underwent primary percutaneous coronary intervention within 24 h, as recorded in the Chinese STEMI PPCI Registry (NCT04996901), were analyzed. The primary endpoint was SR, defined as thrombolysis in myocardial infarction grade 2-3 flow of IRA according to emergency angiography. The second endpoint was 2-year all-cause mortality. The association between admission BP and outcomes was evaluated using Logistic regression or Cox proportional hazards models with restricted cubic splines, adjusting for clinical characteristics. RESULTS: Admission SBP rather than diastolic BP was associated with SR after adjustment. Notably, this relationship exhibits a nonlinear pattern. Below 120mmHg, There existed a significant positive correlation between admission SBP and the incidence of SR (adjusted OR per 10-mmHg decrease for SBP ≤ 120 mm Hg: 0.800; 95% CI: 0.706-0.907; p<0.001); whereas above 120mmHg, no further improvement in SR was observed (adjusted OR per 10-mmHg increase for SBP >120 mm Hg: 1.019; 95% CI: 0.958-1.084, p = 0.552). In the analysis of the endpoint event of mortality, patients admitted with SBP ranging from 121 to 150 mmHg exhibited the lowest mortality compared with those SBP ≤ 120mmHg (adjusted HR: 0.653; 95% CI: 0.495-0.862; p = 0.003). In addition, subgroups analysis with Killip class I-II showed SBP ≤ 120mmHg was still associated with increased risk of mortality. CONCLUSION: The present study revealed admission SBP above 120 mmHg was associated with higher SR,30-d and 2-y survival rate in STEMI patients. The admission SBP could be a marker to provide clinical assessment and treatment. TRIAL REGISTRATION: ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT04996901), 07/27/2021.

OBJECTIVE: To comprehensively assess the clinical efficacy of the anterolateral thigh flap in lower limb reconstruction (LLR) surgeries and explore its application value via a meta-analysis. METHODS: Published articles on the efficacy of anterolateral thigh flap in LLR were retrieved in English databases such as PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, and The Cochrane Library, which were searched from their inception to November 2023. The search terms included "anterolateral thigh flaps", "lower extremity", "free muscle" and "reconstruction". Subsequently, data extraction of eligible studies was carried out, and data analysis was conducted using RevMan 5.3 software. RESULTS: The final selection comprised 12 appropriate studies, encompassing a total of 577 patients. Meta-analysis demonstrated that negligible differences existed in the length of hospital stay among patients treated with different types of flaps (mean difference (MD) =-0.10, 95% confidence interval (CI) =-0.400.20, P>0.05). Additionally, the occurrence of complications differed slightly (Risk difference (RD) =-0.02, 95% CI=-0.090.05, P>0.05). The incidence of secondary surgeries also demonstrated non-significant differences (RD=-0.04, 95% CI=-0.11-0.04, P>0.05). Nevertheless, patients who underwent anterolateral thigh flap transplantation exhibited a drastic decrease in donor site morbidity (Odds ratio (OR) =0.22, 95% CI=0.10-0.49, P<0.05). CONCLUSION: The clinical efficacy of the anterolateral thigh flap in LLR surgeries shows no significant differences in hospital stay, complication rates, or the need for secondary surgeries compared to other flaps. However, using anterolateral thigh flap in LLR significantly reduces donor site morbidity.

Compound pollution at industrial sites impedes urban development, especially when there is a lack of understanding about the spatial variations of internal pollution in industrial areas producing light-weight materials. In this study, spatial distribution and ecological risks of potentially toxic elements (PTEs), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and petroleum hydrocarbons (C10-40) in the soil and groundwater of an Al/Cu (aluminum/copper) industrial site have been analyzed comprehensively. Results revealed the progressive clustering of pollutants in different soil layers, which indicated varying levels of penetration and migration of pollutants from the surface downward. Furthermore, severity of pollution varied according to pollutant type, with Cu (5-10,228 mg kg-1) often exceeding the background levels significantly (>40). Cd (0.03-2.60 mg kg-1) and Hg (0.01-3.73 mg kg-1) were found at elevated concentrations in deeper soil layers, suggesting distinct variations of PTEs across different soil depths. Among the more hazardous VOCS, polychlorinated biphenyls (1.80-234 µg kg-1) were particularly prevalent in the deeper layers of soil. Petroleum hydrocarbons (C10-40) were widely detected (6-582 mg kg-1), showing significant migration potential from surface to deep soil. These findings suggest that prolonged industrial activities lead to deep-seated accumulation of pollutants, which also impacts the groundwater, contributing to long-term dispersion of contaminants. Furthermore, multivariate statistical analysis indicated certain positive correlations among the distribution of Cu, Pb and petroleum hydrocarbons, indicating possible coupling of these pollutants. Severe Cu pollution caused an ecological risk in the surface soil layer (covering >20 % area of high pollution site, contributing >40 % ecological risk). While the Hg and Cd posed significant risks in the deeper soil layers, showing higher risk coefficients and mobility. The study provides crucial insights into the transformation of urban areas with a history of industrial uses into community spaces and highlights the risks posed by the remaining pollutants.

Growth substrates are essential for aquaponic systems and play an important role in vegetable growth and water quality. In this study, we explored an innovative combination of coconut bran and coconut shell biochar (CSB) as a composite growth substrate for lettuce cultivation in aquaponic systems. The study included the control (100 % coconut bran as the growth substrate) and treatment groups (T1-T5; containing 10 %, 20 %, 30 %, 40 %, and 50 % CSB as the growth substrate, respectively). The substrate properties; lettuce growth performance; and soil enzyme activity, nitrogen content, and abundance of microbial communities in the substrate were analyzed to determine the optimal substrate. Our findings indicated that CSB incorporation significantly altered the properties of the substrate, resulting in increased dry and bulk densities, pH, and water-holding capacity, and decreased electrical conductivity, water-absorption capacity, and porosity. Furthermore, the fresh weight of lettuce was notably increased in the treatment groups. The activities of fluorescein diacetate hydrolase, urease, nitrate reductase, and hydroxylamine reductase initially increased and further decreased, reaching the maximum in the T3 group. Conversely, the activity of nitrite reductase and contents of available nitrogen, nitrate-nitrogen, and ammonium-nitrogen in the substrates initially decreased and further increased, with the minimum values observed in the T3 group. The microbial sequencing results indicated that CSB incorporation significantly increased the microbial diversity and relative abundance of microorganisms associated with nitrogen transformation. Moreover, 30 % CSB incorporation exhibited the greatest effect on lettuce growth, with a 34.5 % and 31.6 % increase in fresh weight compared to the control during the growth and harvest periods, respectively. This study indicated the enormous potential of biochar in the research and development of green technologies for substrate amendment in aquaponic systems.

In recent years, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have garnered widespread attention due to their distinctive attributes, such as high surface area, tunable properties, biodegradability, extremely low density, high loading capacity, diverse chemical functionalities, thermal stability, well-defined pore sizes, and molecular dimensions. Increasingly, biomedical researchers have turned their focus towards their multifaceted development. Among these, stimuli-responsive MOFs, with their unique advantages, have captured greater interest from researchers. This review will delve into the merits and drawbacks of both endogenous and exogenous stimuli-responsive MOFs, along with their application directions. Furthermore, it will outline the characteristics of different synthesis routes of MOFs, exploring various design schemes and modification strategies and their impacts on the properties of MOF products, as well as how to control them. Additionally, we will survey different types of stimuli-responsive MOFs, discussing the significance of various MOF products reported in biomedical applications. We will categorically summarize different strategies such as anticancer therapy, antibacterial treatment, tissue repair, and biomedical imaging, as well as insights into the development of novel MOFs nanomaterials in the future. Finally, this review will conclude by summarizing the challenges in the development of stimuli-responsive MOFs in the field of biomedicine and providing prospects for future research endeavors.

Background: In elderly individuals suffering from hip fractures, a prolonged hospital length of stay (PLOS) not only heightens the probability of patient complications but also amplifies mortality risks. Yet, most elderly hip fracture patients present compromised baseline health conditions. Additionally, PLOS leads to increased expenses for patient treatment and care, while also diminishing hospital turnover rates. This, in turn, jeopardizes the prompt allocation of beds for urgent cases. Methods: A retrospective study was carried out from October 2021 to November 2023 on 360 elderly hip fracture patients who underwent surgical treatment at West China Hospital. The 75th percentile of the total patient cohort's hospital stay duration, which was 12 days, was used to define prolonged hospital length of stay (PLOS). The cohort was divided into training and testing datasets with a 70:30 split. A predictive model was developed using the random forest algorithm, and its performance was validated and compared with the Lasso regression model. Results: Out of 360 patients, 103 (28.61%) experienced PLOS. A Random Forest classification model was developed using the training dataset, identifying 10 essential variables. The Random Forest model achieved perfect performance in the training set, with an area under the curve (AUC), balanced accuracy, Kappa value, and F1 score of 1.000. In the testing set, the model's performance was assessed with an AUC of 0.846, balanced accuracy of 0.7294, Kappa value of 0.4325, and F1 score of 0.6061. Conclusion: This study aims to develop a prognostic model for predicting delayed discharge in elderly patients with hip fractures, thereby improving the accuracy of predicting PLOS in this population. By utilizing machine learning models, clinicians can optimize the allocation of medical resources and devise effective rehabilitation strategies for geriatric hip fracture patients. Additionally, this method can potentially improve hospital bed turnover rates, providing latent benefits for the healthcare system.

Colony formation is a crucial characteristic of Microcystis, a cyanobacterium known for causing cyanobacterial harmful algal blooms (cyanoHABs). It has been observed that as Microcystis colonies grow larger, they often become less densely packed, which correlates with a decrease in light penetration. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of light limitation on the morphological variations in Microcystis, particularly in relation to the crowded cellular environment. The results indicated that when there was sufficient light (transmittance = 100 %) to support a growth rate of 0.11±0.01 day-1, a significant increase in colony size was found, from 466±15 µm to 1030±111 µm. However, under light limitation (transmittance = 50 % - 1 %) where the growth rate was lower than 0, there was no significant improvement in colony size. Microcystis in the light limitation groups exhibited a loose cell arrangement and even the presence of holes or pores within the colony, confirming the negative correlation between colony size and cell arrangement. This pattern is driven by regional differences in growth within the colony, as internal cells have a significantly lower frequency of division compared to peripheral cells, due to intra-colony self-shading (ICSS). The research demonstrates that Microcystis can adjust its cell arrangement to avoid excessive self-shading, which has implications for predicting and controlling cyanoHABs. These findings also contribute to the understanding of cyanobacterial variations and can potentially inform future research on the diverse phycosphere.

Pseudosasa gracilis (Poaceae: Bambusoideae) is a temperate woody bamboo species endemic to South-central China with a narrow distribution. Previous phylogenetic studies revealed an unexpected, isolated phylogenetic position of Ps. gracilis. Here we conducted phylogenomic analysis by sampling populations of Ps. gracilis and its sympatric species Ps. nanunica and Sinosasa polytricha reflecting different genomic signals, by deep genome skimming. Integrating molecular evidence from chloroplast genes and genome-wide SNPs, we deciphered the phylogenetic relationships of Ps. gracilis. Both plastid and nuclear data indicate that Ps. gracilis is more closely related to Sinosasa, which is discordant with the taxonomic treatment. To further explore this molecular-morphological conflict, we screened 411 "perfect-copy" syntenic genes to reconstruct phylogenies using both the concatenation and coalescent methods. We observed extensive discordance between gene trees and the putative species tree. A significant hybridization event was detected based on 411 genes from the D subgenome, showing Ps. gracilis was a hybrid descendant between Sinosasa longiligulata and Ps. nanunica, with 63.56% and 36.44% inheritance probabilities of each parent. Moreover, introgression events were detected in the C subgenome between Ps. gracilis and S. polytricha in the same distribution region. Our findings suggest that sympatric hybridization and introgression play a crucial role in the origin of Ps. gracilis. By providing an empirical example of bamboo of hybrid origin using comprehensive analyses based on genomic data from different inheritance systems and morphological characters, our study represents a step forward in understanding of reticulate evolution of bamboos.

OBJECTIVES: There is still controversy over the choice of treatment for end-stage spinal metastases. With the continuous development of microwave technology in spinal tumors, related studies have reported that microwave combined with techniques such as pedicle screw fixation and percutaneous vertebroplasty can achieve the purpose of tumor ablation, relieving spinal cord compression, enhancing spinal stability, effectively relieving pain, and reducing recurrence rates. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of microwave ablation combined with decompression and pedicle screw fixation in the palliative management of spinal metastases with pathological fractures. METHODS: This retrospective study enrolled 82 patients with spinal metastases and pathological fractures treated between January 2016 and July 2020, with 44 patients undergoing pedicle screw fixation along with laminectomy (fixation group) and the remaining 38 receiving microwave ablation in addition to the treatment provided to group fixation (MWA group). Before surgery, all patients underwent pain assessment using the visual analogue scale (VAS) and evaluation of spinal cord injury using the Frankel classification. After surgery, the patients' prognoses were assessed using the Tomita score, modified Tokuhashi score system, and progression-free survival. Additionally, we compared operative time and blood loss between the two groups. Survival analysis utilized the Kaplan-Meier method with a log-rank test for group comparisons. Paired t-tests and the Mann-Whitney U test were applied to metric and non-normally distributed data, respectively. Neurological function improvement across groups was evaluated using the χ2 test. RESULTS: All patients were followed up for a median duration of 18 and 20 months in the fixation and MWA groups, respectively, with follow-up periods ranging from 6 to 36 months. Statistically significant reductions in postoperative VAS scores were observed in all patients compared with their preoperative scores. The MWA group exhibited reduced blood loss (t = 2.74, p = 0.01), lower VAS scores at the 1- and 3-month follow-ups (t = 2.34, P = 0.02; t = 2.83, p = 0.006), and longer progression-free survival than the fixation group (p = 0.03). Although the operation times in the MWA group were longer than those in the fixation group, this difference was not statistically significant (t = 6.06, p = 0.12). No statistically significant differences were found regarding improvements in spinal cord function between the two groups (p = 0.77). CONCLUSION: Compared with decompression and pedicle screw fixation for treating spinal metastases with pathological fractures, microwave ablation combined with decompression and pedicle screw fixation showed better outcomes in terms of pain control, longer progression-free survival, and lower blood loss without increasing operative time, which has favorable implications for clinical practice.

Three-dimensional (3D)-printed biodegradable polymer scaffolds are at the forefront of personalized constructs for bone tissue engineering. However, it remains challenging to create a biological microenvironment for bone growth. Herein, we developed a novel yet feasible approach to facilitate biomimetic mineralization via self-adaptive nanotopography, which overcomes difficulties in the surface biofunctionalization of 3D-printed polycaprolactone (PCL) scaffolds. The building blocks of self-adaptive nanotopography were PCL lamellae that formed on the 3D-printed PCL scaffold via surface-directed epitaxial crystallization and acted as a linker to nucleate and generate hydroxyapatite crystals. Accordingly, a uniform and robust mineralized layer was immobilized throughout the scaffolds, which strongly bound to the strands and had no effect on the mechanical properties of the scaffolds. In vitro cell culture experiments revealed that the resulting scaffold was biocompatible and enhanced the proliferation and osteogenic differentiation of mouse embryolous osteoblast cells. Furthermore, we demonstrated that the resulting scaffold showed a strong capability to accelerate in vivo bone regeneration using a rabbit bone defect model. This study provides valuable opportunities to enhance the application of 3D-printed scaffolds in bone repair, paving the way for translation to other orthopedic implants.

When skin is damaged or affected by diseases, it often undergoes irreversible scar formation, leading to aesthetic concerns and psychological distress for patients. In cases of extensive skin defects, the patient's life can be severely compromised. In recent years, 3D printing technology has emerged as a groundbreaking approach to skin tissue engineering, offering promising solutions to various skin-related conditions. 3D bioprinting technology enables the precise fabrication of structures by programming the spatial arrangement of cells within the skin tissue and subsequently printing skin replacements either in a 3D bioprinter or directly at the site of the defect. This study provides a comprehensive overview of various biopolymer-based inks, with a particular emphasis on chitosan (CS), starch, alginate, agarose, cellulose, and fibronectin, all of which are natural polymers belonging to the category of biomacromolecules. Additionally, it summarizes artificially synthesized polymers capable of enhancing the performance of these biomacromolecule-based bioinks, thereby composing hybrid biopolymer inks aimed at better application in skin tissue engineering endeavors. This review paper examines the recent advancements, characteristics, benefits, and limitations of biological 3D bioprinting techniques for skin tissue engineering. By utilizing bioinks containing seed cells, hydrogels with bioactive factors, and biomaterials, complex structures resembling natural skin can be accurately fabricated in a layer-by-layer manner. The importance of biological scaffolds in promoting skin wound healing and the role of 3D bioprinting in skin tissue regeneration processes is discussed. Additionally, this paper addresses the challenges and constraints associated with current 3D bioprinting technologies for skin tissue and presents future perspectives. These include advancements in bioink formulations, full-thickness skin bioprinting, vascularization strategies, and skin appendages bioprinting.

Commercial chemicals, such as synthetic musks, are of global concern, but data on their occurrence and spatial distribution in aquatic environments of large scale are scarce. Two sampling campaigns were conducted in the present study to measure freely dissolved synthetic musks in freshwaters across China using passive samplers, along with biological coexposure at selected sites. Polycyclic musks (PCMs) dominated synthetic musks, with a detection frequency of 95%. Higher concentrations of PCMs were observed in densely populated Mid, East, and South China compared to less populated regions, indicating the significance of anthropogenic activities for synthetic musks in water. The concentration ratios of galaxolide (HHCB)/tonalide (AHTN) were significantly higher in low-latitude areas than in high-latitude areas from June to September, suggesting that solar radiation played an important role in the degradation of HHCB/AHTN. Significant correlations were found between dissolved concentrations of HHCB and AHTN and their lipid-normalized concentrations in coexposed fish and clam. The estimated hazard quotients for HHCB and AHTN in freshwater fish consumed by humans were less than 0.01 at all sampling sites except the Yangtze River Basin. These results help to understand the environmental fate and ecological risks of synthetic musks on a large geographical scale.

Neonicotinoids are widely used insecticides that have raised considerable concerns for both environmental and human health. However, there lack of comprehensive evaluation of their accumulation in surface water ecosystems and exposure to various human groups. Additionally, there's a distinct lack of scientific evidence describing the carcinogenic and non-carcinogenic impacts of neonicotinoids from surface water. Using an integrated approach employing the Relative Potency Factor (RPF), Hazard Index (HI), and Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS), the study assessed neonicotinoid exposure and risk to four demographic groups via dermal contact and mistaken oral intake pathways in the Yangtze River Basin (YRB), China. Neonicotinoid concentrations range from 0.1 to 408.12 ng/L, indicating potential risk (10-3 to 10-1) across the studied demographic groups. The Incremental Lifetime Cancer Risk (ILCR) for dermal contact was within a moderate range of 2.00 × 10-3 to 1.67 × 10-2, while the mistaken oral intake was also within a moderate range of 3.07 × 10-3 to 7.05 × 10-3. The Hazard Index (HI) for dermal exposure ranged from 1.49 × 10-2 to 0.125, while for mistaken oral intake, it varied between 2.69 × 10-2 and 0.14. The findings highlight the importance of implementing specific interventions to address neonicotinoid exposure, especially among demographic groups that are more susceptible. This research underscores the urgent need for targeted strategies to address neonicotinoid risks to vulnerable populations within the YRB while contributing to insights for effective policies to mitigate neonicotinoid exposure in surface water ecosystems globally.

RESUMEN

After entering the human body, drugs for treating diseases, which are prone to delivery and release in an uncontrolled manner, are affected by various factors. Based on this, many researchers utilize various microenvironmental changes encountered during drug delivery to trigger drug release and have proposed stimuli-responsive drug delivery systems. In recent years, metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have become promising stimuli-responsive agents to release the loaded therapeutic agents at the target site to achieve more precise drug delivery due to their high drug loading, excellent biocompatibility, and high stimuli-responsiveness. The MOF-based stimuli-responsive systems can respond to various stimuli under pathological conditions at the site of the lesion, releasing the loaded therapeutic agent in a controlled manner, and improving the accuracy and safety of drug delivery. Due to the changes in different physical and chemical factors in the pathological process of diseases, the construction of stimuli-responsive systems based on MOFs has become a new direction in drug delivery and controlled release. Based on the background of the rapidly increasing attention to MOFs applied in drug delivery, we aim to review various MOF-based stimuli-responsive drug delivery systems and their response mechanisms to various stimuli. In addition, the current challenges and future perspectives of MOF-based stimuli-responsive drug delivery systems are also discussed in this review.

Currently, biomineralization is widely used as a surface modification approach to obtain ideal material surfaces with complex hierarchical nanostructures, morphologies, unique biological functions, and categorized organizations. The fabrication of biomineralized coating for the surfaces of scaffolds, especially synthetic polymer scaffolds, can alter surface characteristics, provide a favorable microenvironment, release various bioactive substances, regulate the cellular behaviors of osteoblasts, and promote bone regeneration after implantation. However, the biomineralized coating fabricated by immersion in a simulated body fluid has the disadvantages of non-uniformity, instability, and limited capacity to act as an effective reservoir of bioactive ions for bone regeneration. In this study, in order to promote the osteoinductivity of 3D-printed PCL scaffolds, we optimized the surface biomineralization procedure by nano-topographical guidance. Compared with biomineralized coating constructed by the conventional method, the nano-topographically guided biomineralized coating possessed more mineral substances and firmly existed on the surface of scaffolds. Additionally, nano-topographically guided biomineralized coating possessed better protein adsorption and ion release capacities. To this end, the present work also demonstrated that nano-topographically guided biomineralized coating on the surface of 3D-printed PCL scaffolds can regulate the cellular behaviors of USCs, guide the osteogenic differentiation of USCs, and provide a biomimetic microenvironment for bone regeneration.

Neonicotinoids (NNIs) constitute commonly used pesticides across various regions, however, the lack of research and data on its long-term effects and threshold levels within specific ecosystems have left an important knowledge gap. This study aimed to comprehensively examine NNI concentrations and their potential impacts on human health and aquatic organisms in the region of the Yangtze River Basin (YRB). The study employed datasets on seven commonly applied NNIs across 244 surface water samples collected from 12 distinct geographic sites within the YRB. The relative potency factor was used to evaluate human exposure risks, while the species sensitivity distribution could estimate acute and chronic hazardous concentrations for 5% of species (HC5) for NNIs impacting aquatic organisms. Analysis revealed varying NNI concentrations across the sampled sites, with thiacloprid recording the lowest concentration at 0.1 ng L-1, and dinotefuran recording a high concentration of 408 ng L-1. The observation indicated NNI concentration declined at sampling sites downstream of the YRB. Infants were identified as the most vulnerable to NNI exposure, with an estimated daily intake of 40.8 ng kg-1 bw d-1. The acute HC5 was determined at 946 ng L-1 and a chronic HC5 at 338 ng L-1, to NNI hazards. These findings highlight the urgent need for a more comprehensive understanding of the ecological implications and hazards posed by NNIs within the YRB. Variations in NNI concentrations across sites, potential risks to human health, and increased vulnerability of aquatic organisms from this study underscore the necessity for further research and concerted efforts to mitigate these ecological threats in the region.

ObjectiveTo prepare oral nanoemulsions encapsulating essential oil from Alpinia zerumbet fructus(EOFAZ) and to investigate its pro-absorption effect in vitro and distribution in vivo. MethodThe proteoglycan conjugate polysaccharides of vinegar-processed Bupleuri Radix-bovine serum albumin(VBCP-BSA) was prepared by Maillard reaction of VBCP and BSA. Taking VBCP-BSA as emulsifier, vitamin B12(VB12) as absorption enhancer, and medium chain triglycerides mixed with EOFAZ as oil phase, the nanoemulsions loaded with EOFAZ was prepared by high energy emulsification method. The particle size, particle size distribution, surface Zeta potential, EOFAZ content and appearance and morphology of the nanoemulsions were characterized, and fluorescein tracer method was used to investigate the absorption effect of fluorescein-labeled EOFAZ nanoemulsions in vitro and their distribution in vivo. ResultVBCP-BSA was formed by Maillard reaction for 48 h with high grafting rate. Using VBCP-BSA as emulsifier, the homogeneous pink nanoemulsions was prepared and denoted as EOFAZ@VBCP-BSA/VB12. The particle size of the nanoemulsions was less than 100 nm and the particle size distribution was uniform. The surface of the nanoemulsions was a weak negative charge, and the shape was spherical. The encapsulation rate of the nanoemulsions for EOFAZ was greater than 80%, which had a good absorption effect in vitro and could enhance liver accumulation after oral administration. ConclusionThe designed proteoglycan nanoemulsions can effectively load EOFAZ, promote oral absorption and enhance liver distribution, which can provide experimental basis for the development of oral EOFAZ liver protection preparations.

@#Objective    To explore the key points and difficulties of intraoperative frozen section diagnosis of pulmonary diseases. Methods    The intraoperative frozen section and postoperative paraffin section results of pulmonary nodule patients in Beijing Chaoyang Hospital, Capital Medical University from January 2021 to January 2022 were collected. The main causes of misdiagnosis in frozen section diagnosis were analyzed, and the main points of diagnosis and differential diagnosis were summarized. Results    According to the inclusion criteria, a total of 1 263 frozen section diagnosis results of 1 178 patients were included in the study, including 475 males and 703 females, with an average age of 58.7 (23-86) years. In 1 263 frozen section diagnosis results, the correct diagnosis rate was 95.65%, and the misdiagnosis rate was 4.35%. There were 55 misdiagnoses, including 18 (3.44%) invasive adenocarcinoma, 17 (5.82%) adenocarcinoma in situ, 7 (35.00%) mucinous adenocarcinoma, 4 (2.09%) minimally invasive adenocarcinoma, 3 (100.00%) IgG4 related diseases, 2 (66.67%) mucinous adenocarcinoma in situ, 1 (16.67%) atypical adenomatous hyperplasia, 1 (14.29%) sclerosing pulmonary cell tumor, 1 (33.33%) bronchiolar adenoma, and 1 (100.00%) papillary adenoma. Conclusion    Intraoperative frozen section diagnosis still has its limitations. Clinicians need to make a comprehensive judgment based on imaging examination and clinical experience.

Objective:To discuss and analyze the current situation of the application and approval of new Chinese medicine in China; To provide a reference for the research and development of new Chinese medicines in the future.Methods:The drug registration data were retrieved from Xanda database from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2022, and the information of new approval and application of new Chinese medicines during this periods was systematically organized from the aspects of the number of registered varieties, registration categories, therapeutic areas, prescription sources, dosage form distribution, development cycle, clinical research and control drugs.Results:From 2016 to 2022, the total number of application for new Chinese medicines was 265. The number of registration classification 1.1 of new compound drugs was the largest. The dosage forms of new drugs were mainly granules, capsules, and tablets. Indications mainly focused on respiratory, neuropsychiatric, digestion and cardio-cerebrovascular diseases, etc. From 2016 to 2022, the total number of approval for new Chinese medicines was 29, of these, 19 from 2021 to 2022. The number of registration classification 1.1 of new Chinese medicines was the largest. The treatment fields are mainly respiratory system, gynecology and neuropsychiatric diseases, etc. The dosage forms of new drugs were mainly granules, capsules, and tablets. The number of drugs in prescriptions was 6-15. High-frequency drugs included Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, Ephedrae Herba, Scutellariae Radix, Pinelliae Rhizoma, Poria and Gypsum Fibrosum. Phase Ⅱ and phase Ⅲ of the clinical trials had the largest number. The development period was approximately between 10-20 years. The most prescription source of new drugs was clinical experienced prescriptions and hospital pharmaceutics.Conclusion:The results show that China has been gradually building-up a relatively complete ecosystem for research and development of new Chinese medicines, helping to develop more high-quality Chinese medicines.

Objective: The study aimed to investigate the relationship between Life's Simple 7 (LS7) and the risk of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in adult Americans. Methods: A total of 17,532 participants were included in this study. The association between LS7 and the risk of RA was assessed using a weighted logistic regression model, with odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) calculated. Moreover, the nonlinear relationship was further characterized through smooth curve fitting (SCF) and weighted generalized additive model (GAM) analysis. Results: After adjusting for all covariates, the weighted logistic regression model demonstrated that the LS7 was negatively correlated with the risk of RA. Compared to quintile 1 of LS7, the OR between the risk of RA and quartile 4 of LS7 (LS7.Q4) was 0.261 (95% CI, 0.203, 0.337) in males under 50 years old, while in females of the same age group, the OR was 0.183 (95% CI, 0.142, 0.234). For females aged between 50 and 70 years old, the OR between the risk of RA and LS7.Q4 was 0.313 (95% CI, 0.264, 0.371). In females aged 70 years or older, the OR between the risk of RA and LS7.Q4 was 0.632 (95% CI, 0.486, 0.822). Conclusion: This finding suggested the healthy lifestyle behaviors represented by LS7 have a negative association with RA. However, further prospective studies are needed to verify the causal relationship in the results.
