RESUMEN

Rapid emergence of SARS-CoV-2 variants is a constant threat and a major hurdle to reach heard immunity. We produced VBI-2905a, an enveloped virus-like particle (eVLP)-based vaccine candidate expressing prefusion spike protein from the Beta variant that contains several escape mutations. VBI-2905a protected hamsters against infection with a Beta variant virus and induced high levels of neutralizing antibodies against Beta RBD. In a heterologous vaccination regimen, a single injection of VBI-2905a in animals previously immunized with VBI-2902, a vaccine candidate expressing S from ancestral SARS-CoV-2, hamsters were equally protected against Beta variant infection. As an alternate strategy to broaden immunity, we produced a trivalent vaccine expressing the prefusion spike protein from SARS-CoV-2 together with unmodifed S from SARS-CoV-1 and MERS-CoV. Relative to immunity induced against the ancestral strain, the trivalent vaccine VBI-2901a induced higher and more consistent antibody binding and neutralizing responses against a panel of variants including Beta, Delta, Kappa, and Lambda, with evidence for broadening of immunity rather than just boosting cross-reactive antibodies.

RESUMEN

Objective:To investigate clinical significance of the detection of bone mineral density(BMD)and serum levels of vitamin D in elderly patients with Parkinson's disease(PD).Methods:Sixty elderly patients with PD(the PD group)admitted in our hospital from June 2016 to December 2018 were enrolled in this retrospective study. And 60 healthy persons confirmed by annual health check-up matched for age and sex during the same period were included as the control group.PD patients were divided into the osteoporosis group(n=23)and the non-osteoporosis group(n=37). The clinical data, bone mineral density and serum vitamin D level were compared between the two groups.Multivariate Logistic regression method was used to analyze related factors for osteoporosis in PD patients. Results:The incidences of osteoporosis and vitamin D deficiency were higher in PD group than in control group[23 cases(38.3%) vs.13 cases(21.7%)、35 cases(58.3%) vs.21 cases(35.0%), all P<0.05]. Bone mineral density and serum 25-(OH)D level were lower in PD group than in control group[(0.77±0.08)g/m 2vs.(0.83±0.09)g/m 2, (25.65±8.65)nmol/L vs.(39.80±10.74)nmol/L, t=4.381 and 8.439, P<0.05]. The age, course of disease and H-Y grade were higher and serum level of 25-(OH)D was lower in the osteoporosis group than in the control group( P<0.05). Spearman correlation analysis showed that BMD and 25-(OH)D were negatively correlated with age, course of disease and H-Y stage, respectively, and BMD was positively correlated with 25-(OH)D( r=0.396, P<0.05). Multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that vitamin D deficiency was an independent risk factor for osteoporosis in elderly PD patients( OR=2.332, 95% CI: 1.772-8.224, P<0.01). Conclusions:The incidence of osteoporosis is high in elderly PD patients, and vitamin D deficiency is often present.Vitamin D deficiency may be an independent risk factor for osteoporosis.

RESUMEN

Objective To study the correlation between expression of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase 2(TIMP-2)and prognosis of patients with laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma. Methods The expression of VEGF and TIMP-2 were measured in 38 specimen of LSCC and 19 specimens of normal laryngeal tissue adjacent to the tumors with EnVision immunohistochemical technique,follow-up for 3~5 years after operation local relapse occurred in four cases, cervical nodular metastasized occurred in fwo cases and pneumonic metastasis occurred one case. Results The expression level of two marks in primary tumors was significantly higher than that in pericancerous tissues(P

RESUMEN

Objective To observe the clinical curative effect of BudesonideNasal Spray plus Gelomyrtol Forte for acute secretory otitis media. Methods 80 Patients (108ears) and 60 patients (74ears) were treated by BudesonideNasal Spray be bound to Gelomyrtol Forte and Cefaclor Dispersible Tablets res pectively. After 10 days, observe the two groups’s clinical curative effect for acute secretory otitis media. Results The of treatment’s group efficient rate is 99.07, Cefaclor Dispersible Tablets 87.84, and the difference is (?2 =10.68 P0.05), and mild adverse reactions will be disappeared after stoping drugs. Conclusion The of BudesonideNasal Spray puls Gelomyrtol Forte is better than that of Cefaclor Dispersible Tablets for acute secretory otitis media. The mild adverse reaction is the same between the two groups.
