RESUMEN

PURPOSE: Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) has a favorable prognosis. However, involvement of the recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN) significantly increases the risk of recurrence. RLN invasion was an important factor in determining the extent of thyroid surgery. The purpose of this study was to compare clinicopathologic features and characterize risk factors of central and lateral lymph node metastasis (LLNM) of RLN invasion in patients with PTC. METHODS: A retrospective review was conducted of 130 patients with PTCs who had exclusive tumor involvement of the RLN at our institution between January 2014 and February 2019. All patients underwent total thyroidectomy and high-dose radioactive iodine (RAI) therapy. The clinicopathologic factors and prognostic outcomes of the patients with solitary and multiple RLN involvements were compared. Kaplan-Meier method was performed to compare the outcomes of tumor recurrence. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were used to identify risk factors associated with LLNM. RESULTS: The invasion of the RLN was similar on both sides, with 58.5% on the right, 40.0% on the left, and 1.5% on both sides. Significant differences were observed in tumor size (p < 0.001), lymph node metastasis classification (p = 0.002), RLN resection (p < 0.001), and thyroglobulin (p = 0.010) in the solitary and multiple groups. During the median follow-up of 67 months, 9 (6.9%) patients developed recurrence. There were no statistical differences in recurrence for age, tumor size, gender, multifocality, lymph node metastasis (LNM), and RLN resection. According to receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analyses, a cut-off of tumor size > 1.7 cm was identified as the most sensitive and specific predictor of RLN with multiple involvements or LNM invasion. Univariate and multivariate analyses revealed that central lymph node metastasis (CLNM) and RLN invasion by LNM can serve as independent risk factors for LLNM (p = 0.006 and p < 0.001, respectively). CONCLUSION: Our results indicate that recurrence was comparable in patients with solitary and multiple RLN involvements. Multiple RLN involvement was associated with pathological features such as larger tumors, RLN resection, and LLNM. The presence of LNM invading RLN and multiple nerve involvement increases the risk of intraoperative RLN resection. A higher risk of multiple invasion or LNM invasion should be considered when tumor size > 1.7 cm. The presence of CLNM and RLN invaded by LNM were independent predictors for LLNM, which could aid surgeons in deciding on lateral lymph node dissection.

OBJECTIVE: This case series study investigated the outcomes of an innovative approach, ansa cervicalis nerve (ACN)-to-recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN) low-tension anastomosis. METHODS: Patients who received laryngeal nerve anastomosis between May 2015 and September 2021 at the facility were enrolled. The inclusion criteria were patients with RLN dissection and anastomosis immediately during thyroid surgery. Exclusion criteria were cases with anastomosis other than cervical loop-RLN anastomosis or pronunciation recovery time > 6 months. Patients admitted before January 2020 were assigned to group A which underwent the conventional tension-free anastomosis, and patients admitted after January 2020 were group B and underwent the innovative low-tension anastomosis (Dong's method). RESULTS: A total of 13 patients were included, 11 patients received unilateral surgery, and 2 underwent bilateral surgery. For patients who underwent unilateral anastomosis, group B had a significantly higher percentage of normal pronunciation via GRBAS scale (83.3 % vs. 0 %, p = 0.015) and voice handicap index (66.7 % vs. 0 %, p = 0.002), and shorter recovery time in pronunciation (median: 1-day vs. 4 months, p = 0.001) than those in group A after surgery. CONCLUSIONS: ACNs-to-RLN low-tension anastomosis with a laryngeal segment ≤1 cm (Dong's method) significantly improves postoperative pronunciation and recovery time. The results provide clinicians with a new strategy for ACN -to-RLN anastomosis during thyroid surgery.

Estrogen plays a multifaceted function in humans via interacting with the estrogen receptors ERα, ERß, and G protein-coupled estrogen receptor 1 (GPER1). Previous research has predominantly concentrated on elucidating the signaling route of estrogen. However, the comprehensive understanding of the expression profile and control of these estrogen receptors in various human tissues is not well known. In the present study, the RNA levels of estrogen receptors in various normal and malignant human tissues were retrieved from the human protein atlas, the cancer genome atlas (TCGA), and the genotype-tissue expression (GTEx) databases for analyzing the expression profile of estrogen receptors through gene expression profiling interactive analysis (GEPIA). The status of DNA methylation of estrogen receptor genes from TCGA were analyzed through the software Wanderer and cBioPortal. The MethSurv tool was utilized to estimate the relevance between specific cytosine-guanine (CG) methylation and tumor survival. The expression profile analysis revealed that ERα, ERß, and GPER1 have unique expression patterns in diverse tissues and malignancies. The interesting results were the higher expression of ERß RNA in the male testis than in females and the positive association between the RNA level of ERα and the androgen receptor in different human normal tissues. Especially, the significant changes in GPER1 expression in multiple malignancies showed a consistent decrease with no exception, which indicates the role of GPER1 in common tumor inhibition. The finding on the expression profile provides clues for exploring novel potential physiological and pathophysiological functions of estrogen. The DNA methylation analysis manifested that the expression of GPER1 and ERα showed a substantial correlation with the methylation of specific CG sites in the cis-regulating region of the gene. However, no such association was observed for ERß. When comparing tumor tissues to normal tissues, the DNA methylation of certain CG sites of estrogen receptors showed a correlation with tumor survival but did not always correlate with the expression of that gene or with the expression of DNA methyltransferases. We proposed that the variation in DNA methylation at different CG sites in estrogen receptor genes had other functions beyond its regulatory role in its gene expression, and this might be associated with the progression and therapy efficiency of the tumor based on the modulation of the chromatin configuration.

PURPOSE: This study aimed to evaluate the factors associated with bilateral papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) and lateral cervical lymph node metastasis (LLNM) in patients with suspicious unilateral PTC. METHODS: This study analyzed patients with suspicious unilateral PTC who were enrolled in a university hospital between 2016 and 2019 in Zhejiang, China. Using logistic regression, the study examined the factors associated with bilateral PTC and LLNM in demographic data, anthropometric measurements, lifestyle factors, medical history, preoperative diagnostic tests, and histopathological factors. RESULTS: A total of 256 patients, with a mean age of 49 years, were enrolled. Bilateral PTC was associated with multifocality (aOR: 5.069, 95% CI: 2.440-10.529, P < 0.001), and contralateral nodule in the upper (aOR: 9.073, 95% CI: 2.111-38.985, P = 0.003) and middle (aOR: 9.926, 95% CI: 2.683-36.717, P < 0.001). LLNM was positively associated with bilateral PTC (aOR, 4.283, 95% CI: 1.378-13.308, p = 0.012), male (aOR, 3.377, 95% CI: 1.205-9.461, P = 0.021), upper location of carcinoma (aOR, 3.311, 95% CI: 1.091-10.053, p = 0.035), and punctate echogenic foci (aOR, 3.309, 95% CI: 1.165-9.394, P = 0.025). Contralateral maximal nodule in the upper (aOR: 0.098, 95% CI: 0.015-0.628, p = 0.014), middle (aOR: 0.114, 95% CI: 0.033-0.522, p < 0.001), and lower (aOR, 0.028, 95% CI: 0.003-0.276, P = 0.002) location were inversely associated with LLNM. CONCLUSION: Upper and middle location of contralateral nodule and tumor multifocality predicted the risk bilateral PTC. Bilateral PTC, male, upper tumor location, punctate echogenic foci and contralateral nodule location in the entire lobes were independent predictors for LLNM.

We performed an experimental demonstration of a wedge-shaped optical 90° hybrid coupler on the thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN) platform, utilizing a paired-interference-based 2 × 4 multimode interference (MMI) coupler and a general-interference-based 2 × 2 MMI coupler. The fabricated optical 90° hybrid coupler has a compact footprint with a width of 18 µm and a length of 134 µm. In a coherent receiving system, the hybrid coupler directly connects to the balanced photodiode array, eliminating the need for waveguide crossings or cascaded phase shifters. The device exhibits a < 1.1 dB excess loss, a > 20 dB common-mode rejection ratio (CMRR), a < 1.3 dB wavelength sensitive loss, and a < ±5° phase deviation over a spectral range of 1530-1560 nm, which is promising to enable a compact heterogeneously integrated coherent receiving system on the thin-film lithium niobate platform.

BACKGROUND: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most common cancers in the world and a nonnegligible health concern on a worldwide scale. Disulfidptosis is a novel mode of cell death, which is mainly caused by the collapse of the actin skeleton. Although many studies have demonstrated that various types of cell death are associated with cancer treatment, the relationship between disulfidptosis and HCC has not been elucidated. METHODS: Here, we mainly applied bioinformatics methods to construct a disulfidptosis related risk model in HCC patients. Specifically, transcriptome data and clinical information were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO), International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC) and The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. A total of 45 co-expressed genes were extracted between the disulfidptosis-related genes (DRGs) and the differential expression genes (DEGs) of liver hepatocellular carcinoma (LIHC) in the TCGA database. The LIHC cohort was divided into two subgroups with different prognosis by k-mean consensus clustering and functional enrichment analysis was performed. Subsequently, three hub genes (CDCA8, SPP2 and RDH16) were screened by Cox regression and LASSO regression analysis. In addition, a risk signature was constructed and the HCC cohort was divided into high risk score and low risk score subgroups to compare the prognosis, clinical features and immune landscape between the two subgroups. Finally, the prognostic model of independent risk factors was constructed and verified. CONCLUSIONS: High DRGs-related risk score in HCC individuals predict poor prognosis and are associated with poor immunotherapy response, which indicates that risk score assessment model can be utilized to guide clinical treatment strategy.

Aim: This study aimed to identify molecular markers associated with papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) and investigate the therapeutic potential of targeted nanoscale drugs. Materials & methods: We analyzed the effects of circICA1 and miR-486-3p on B-CPAP cells' proliferation, apoptosis, migration and invasion. The regulation of the miR-486-3p/SERPINA1 axis was explored using quantitative real-time reverse transcription PCR and western blot analyses for metastasis. In vivo, we evaluated the effects of hyperbranched polyamidoamine-RGD peptide/si-circICA1 on PTC growth and metastasis. Results: Enhanced miR-486-3p expression inhibits B-CPAP cells' proliferation and invasion. si-circICA1 delivered via hyperbranched polyamidoamine-RGD peptide nanoparticles shows potential for treating metastasis in PTC. Conclusion: This study identifies key molecular mechanisms underlying PTC invasiveness and suggests a promising therapeutic strategy for PTC using targeted nanoscale drugs.

BACKGROUND: Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the three deadliest malignant tumors in the world, posing a severe hazard to human health. Nonetheless, the 5-year survival rate for advanced CRC remains unsatisfactory. Grid2 interacting protein (GRID2IP) is a Purkinje fiber postsynaptic scaffold protein implicated in a number of signal transduction pathways in the nervous system. Previous studies have shown that Grid2 is closely related to the occurrence and prognosis of gastric cancer and many other diseases. Therefore, we aim to identify the relationship between GRID2IP and the occurrence and prognosis of CRC. METHODS: Transcriptome data were retrieved from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database to analyze the differential expression of GRID2IP in a variety of malignant tumors and then validate it by quantitative real time polymerase chain reaction(Q-PCR) and Western Blot in HT29 and SW480 cells. "DESeq2" package was used to analyze the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between the high- and low-GRID2IP subgroups. In relation to DEGs, Gene Ontology (GO) enrichment and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analysis were performed. In addition, gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) and single-sample gene set enrichment analysis (ssGSEA) were employed to examine DEGs-associated signaling pathways and GRID2IP-associated immune cell infiltration levels. Besides, overall survival (OS), disease-specific survival (DSS), and progression-free interval (PFI) were compared between the two subgroups using a Kaplan-Meier analysis. In addition, a prognostic model for GRID2IP and clinical characteristics was developed using the univariate Cox regression method. The "pRRophetic" package was applied to predict the drug sensitivity of different subgroups. Moreover, we also performed single-cell analysis of GRID2IP using the TISCH database. RESULTS: GRID2IP is upregulated in CRC patients. The rise of GRID2IP inhibits the invasion of tumor-associated immune cells resulting in a lower immune score. In addition, high GRID2IP expression was associated with poor prognosis in different clinical subgroups. Analysis of single cells revealed that GRID2IP was predominantly expressed in immune cells, myofibroblasts, and cancerous cells. In terms of chemotherapy drug sensitivity, the subgroup with high GRID2IP expression was less sensitive to gemcitabine. CONCLUSIONS: Our results suggest that rising GRID2IP promotes tumor-associated immune cell infiltration and suggests adverse outcomes in CRC patients, which may be a useful biomarker for determining the prognosis of CRC and a potential target molecule for CRC therapy.

Drawing on the textual contents of the Chinese local government work reports, this paper focuses on the impact of leading officials' audits of natural-resource assets on the local environmental attention allocation. The study has found that during the pilot period of audits, compared with the non-pilot cities, the local government in the pilot cities has concentrated more on the ecological environment field and has placed greater emphasis on the actual environmental governance. The results of mechanism analysis show that differences in the personal and take-office characteristics of local officials, may lead to different promotion pressure and performance evaluation modes, and then have a different impact on local environmental attention. The test results of consequence analysis show that the environmental attention in the pilot cities can be further transformed into environmental administrative and financial governance behavior. The paper discusses the policy effect and internal mechanism of leading officials' audits of natural-resource assets from the perspective of local governments' environmental attention, providing empirical evidence for China to carry out the top-level design of environmental policy based on the idea of optimizing officials' performance evaluation mechanism.

Increasing concerns about hair loss affect people's quality of life. Recent studies have found that sympathetic nerves play a positive role in regulating hair follicle stem cell activity to promote hair growth. However, no study has investigated sympathetic innervation of transplanted follicles. Rat vibrissa follicles were extracted and implanted under the dorsal skin of BALB/c-nu/nu mice using one of two types of follicles: (1) intact follicles, where transplants included bulbs, and (2) upper follicles, where transplants excluded bulbs. Follicular samples were collected for hematoxylin and eosin staining, immunofluorescence staining for tyrosine hydroxylase (TH, a sympathetic marker) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays. At 37 days after implantation in both groups, follicles had entered anagen, with the growth of long hair shafts; tyrosine-hydroxylase-positive nerves were innervating follicles (1.45-fold); and norepinephrine concentrations (2.03-fold) were significantly increased compared to 5 days, but did not return to normal. We demonstrate the survival of intact and upper follicle xenografts and the partial restoration of sympathetic reinnervations of both transplanted follicles.

Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) enables researchers to reveal previously unknown cell heterogeneity and functional diversity, which is impossible with bulk RNA sequencing. Clustering approaches are widely used for analyzing scRNA-seq data and identifying cell types and states. In the past few years, various advanced computational strategies emerged. However, the low generalization and high computational cost are the main bottlenecks of existing methods. In this study, we established a novel computational framework, scFseCluster, for scRNA-seq clustering analysis. scFseCluster incorporates a metaheuristic algorithm (Feature Selection based on Quantum Squirrel Search Algorithm) to extract the optimal gene set, which largely guarantees the performance of cell clustering. We conducted simulation experiments in several aspects to verify the performance of the proposed approach. scFseCluster performed very well on eight benchmark scRNA-seq datasets because of the optimal gene sets obtained using the Feature Selection based on Quantum Squirrel Search Algorithm. The comparative study demonstrated the significant advantages of scFseCluster over seven State-of-the-Art algorithms. In addition, our analysis shows that feature selection on high-variable genes can significantly improve clustering performance. In conclusion, our study demonstrates that scFseCluster is a highly versatile tool for enhancing scRNA-seq data clustering analysis.

Instead of employing telomerases to safeguard chromosome ends, dipteran species maintain their telomeres by transposition of telomeric-specific retrotransposons (TRs): in Drosophila , these are HeT-A , TART , and TAHRE . Previous studies have shown how these TRs create tandem repeats at chromosome ends, but the exact mechanism controlling TR transcription has remained unclear. Here we report the identification of multiple subunits of the transcription cofactor Mediator complex and transcriptional factors Scalloped (Sd, the TEAD homolog in flies) and E2F1-Dp as novel regulators of TR transcription and telomere length in Drosophila . Depletion of multiple Mediator subunits, Dp, or Sd increased TR expression and telomere length, while over-expressing E2F1-Dp or knocking down the E2F1 regulator Rbf1 (Retinoblastoma-family protein 1) stimulated TR transcription, with Mediator and Sd affecting TR expression through E2F1-Dp. The CUT&RUN analysis revealed direct binding of CDK8, Dp, and Sd to telomeric repeats. These findings highlight the essential role of the Mediator complex in maintaining telomere homeostasis by regulating TR transcription through E2F1-Dp and Sd, revealing the intricate coupling of TR transcription with the host cell-cycle machinery, thereby ensuring chromosome end protection and genomic stability during cell division.

Most life activities in organisms are regulated through protein complexes, which are mainly controlled via Protein-Protein Interactions (PPIs). Discovering new interactions between proteins and revealing their biological functions are of great significance for understanding the molecular mechanisms of biological processes and identifying the potential targets in drug discovery. Current experimental methods only capture stable protein interactions, which lead to limited coverage. In addition, expensive cost and time consuming are also the obvious shortcomings. In recent years, various computational methods have been successfully developed for predicting PPIs based only on protein homology, primary sequences of protein or gene ontology information. Computational efficiency and data complexity are still the main bottlenecks for the algorithm generalization. In this study, we proposed a novel computational framework, HNSPPI, to predict PPIs. As a hybrid supervised learning model, HNSPPI comprehensively characterizes the intrinsic relationship between two proteins by integrating amino acid sequence information and connection properties of PPI network. The experimental results show that HNSPPI works very well on six benchmark datasets. Moreover, the comparison analysis proved that our model significantly outperforms other five existing algorithms. Finally, we used the HNSPPI model to explore the SARS-CoV-2-Human interaction system and found several potential regulations. In summary, HNSPPI is a promising model for predicting new protein interactions from known PPI data.

Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs), a network of DNA histone complexes and proteins released by activated neutrophils, have been demonstrated to be associated with inflammation, infection related immune response and tumorigenesis in previous reports. However, the relationship between NETs related genes and breast cancer remains controversial. In the study, we retrieved transcriptome data and clinical information of BRCA patients from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) datasets. The expression matrix of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) related genes was generated and consensus clustering was performed by Partitioning Around Medoid (PAM) to classify BRCA patients into two subgroups (NETs high group and NETs low group). Subsequently, we focus on the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between the two NETs-related subgroups and further explored NETs enrichment related signaling pathways by Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analysis. In addition, we constructed a risk signature model by LASSO Cox regression analysis to evaluate the association between riskscore and prognosis. Even more, we explored the landscape of the tumor immune microenvironment and the expression of immune checkpoints related genes as well as HLA genes between two NETs subtypes in breast cancer patients. Moreover, we found and validated the correlation of different immune cells with risk score, as well as the response to immunotherapy in different subgroups of patients was detected by Tumor Immune Dysfunction and Exclusion (TIDE) database. Ultimately, a nomogram prognostic prediction model was established to speculate on the prognosis of breast cancer patients. The results suggest that high riskscore is associated with poor immunotherapy response and adverse clinical outcomes in breast cancer patients. In conclusion, we established a NETs-related stratification system that is beneficial for guiding the clinical treatment and predicting prognosis of BRCA.

BACKGROUND: The purpose of the study was to investigate the ability of new parameters in distinguishing high-risk patients of recurrence from isthmic papillary thyroid carcinomas (iPTCs). METHODS: One hundred sixteen iPTC patients who underwent total thyroidectomy were identified from 3461 PTC patients from 2014 to 2019. Tumor margin to trachea midline distance (TTD), maximum tumor size (TS), and transverse diameter of trachea (TD) were measured on CT images. Cox proportional hazard models served to identify risk factors associated with recurrence-free survival (RFS). The iPTC prognostic formula (IPF = TD/(TTD - TS) - TD/TTD) was evaluated to assess the prognosis. RFS was conducted between the different groups using the Kaplan-Meier analysis. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve of each parameter was drawn to predict recurrence. RESULTS: Central lymph node metastasis (CLNM) and extrathyroidal invasion in iPTC were 58.6% and 31.0%, respectively. Regional recurrence occurred in 16 (13.8%) patients, and no patient died or had distant metastasis. The 3- and 5-year RFS of iPTC were 87.5% and 84.5%, respectively. Gender (p = 0.001) and PLNM (prelaryngeal lymph node metastasis) (p = 0.010) in cPTC (center of iPTC located between two imaginary lines perpendicular to the surface of the skin from the most lateral points of the trachea) and non-cPTC (iPTC patients enrolled in this study excluding cPTC) groups differed significantly. A cut-off point of tumor size >1.1 cm and IPF ≤5.57 were established to have significant differences in prognosis (p = 0.032 and p = 0.005, respectively). Multivariate analysis showed that IPF ≤5.57 was independent prognostic factor for RFS (HR: 4.415, 95%CI: 1.118-17.431, p = 0.034). CONCLUSION: This study indicated the association between IPF and RFS in iPTC patients and established new models to assess risk factors for recurrence pre-operation. IPF ≤5.57 was significantly associated with poor RFS and might be promising parameters for predicting prognosis and surgical decision-making pre-operation.

Deep learning has been widely used for plant disease recognition in smart agriculture and has proven to be a powerful tool for image classification and pattern recognition. However, it has limited interpretability for deep features. With the transfer of expert knowledge, handcrafted features provide a new way for personalized diagnosis of plant diseases. However, irrelevant and redundant features lead to high dimensionality. In this study, we proposed a swarm intelligence algorithm for feature selection [salp swarm algorithm for feature selection (SSAFS)] in image-based plant disease detection. SSAFS is employed to determine the ideal combination of handcrafted features to maximize classification success while minimizing the number of features. To verify the effectiveness of the developed SSAFS algorithm, we conducted experimental studies using SSAFS and 5 metaheuristic algorithms. Several evaluation metrics were used to evaluate and analyze the performance of these methods on 4 datasets from the UCI machine learning repository and 6 plant phenomics datasets from PlantVillage. Experimental results and statistical analyses validated the outstanding performance of SSAFS compared to existing state-of-the-art algorithms, confirming the superiority of SSAFS in exploring the feature space and identifying the most valuable features for diseased plant image classification. This computational tool will allow us to explore an optimal combination of handcrafted features to improve plant disease recognition accuracy and processing time.

BACKGROUND: Testicular hypoplasia can affect the sexual and reproductive ability in adulthood, and even increase the risk of cancer. Abnormal development of the gubernaculum is one of the important factors of testicular hypoplasia. Therefore, a study of the structure and function of the gubernaculum is an important but neglected new breakthrough point for investigating the normal/abnormal development of the testis. Previous findings showed that Insulin like factor 3 (INSL3) is a key factor regulating the growth of gubernaculum, however, the mechanism by which INSL3 acts on the gubernaculum remains unknown. Therefore, we probed the mechanism associated with INSL3-induced the proliferation, migration, and apoptosis of gubernacular cells in mice. METHODS: A culture cell model of neonatal mice gubernaculum is established by INSL3 intervention. We blocked PLC/PKC signaling pathway with U73122 pretreat to investigate the role of the PLC/PKC signaling pathway. The changes of cell proliferation, migration, and apoptosis were detected by molecular biological methods. In addition, the levels of PCNA and F-action were detected by immunofluorescence and western blotting. RESULTS: We found that INSL3 can promote the proliferation and migration of gubernacular cells and inhibit their apoptosis, meanwhile, INSL3 significantly up-regulated PLC/PKC protein phosphorylation. However, treatment with the PLC/PKC signaling pathway inhibitor U73122 significantly inhibited these effects of INSL3. Besides, we found that INSL3 could up-regulate the protein expression level of PCNA and F-actin, while the PCNA and F-actin expression was significantly weakened after U73122 pretreatment. CONCLUSIONS: This research revealed that INSL3 binding to RXFP2 may up-regulate the expression levels of PCNA and F-actin by activating the PLC/PKC signaling pathway to promote the proliferation and migration of gubernacular cells. It suggests that the RXFP2-PLC/PKC axis may serve as a novel molecular mechanism by which INSL3 regulates growth of the gubernaculum.
