RESUMEN

In order to solve the defects of the high driving voltage and a large volume of the existing electro-optical modulators, a double-waveguide stacked graphene optical modulator based on a Mach-Zehnder Interferometer structure is designed in this paper. First, the modulator size of traditional planar structure is effectively reduced by stacking two modulators vertically. Secondly, by changing the relative position of the electrode and the waveguide, the coupling effect of the electrode and the waveguide is enhanced, and the driving voltage is reduced. Finally, the performance of the designed electro-optic modulator is verified by the finite element method. The half-wave voltage of 0.55 V · cm and the modulation bandwidth of 58.8 GHz are realized on the basis of the length of 1.14 mm. The insertion loss is 1.15 dB, and the return loss is -44.8d B.

RESUMEN

This paper proposes a Panax notoginseng (P. notoginseng) quantitative analysis based on terahertz time-domain spectroscopy and two-dimensional correlation spectroscopy (2DCOS). By imposing temperature perturbation combined with 2DCOS, the one-dimensional absorbance spectra were transformed into 2DCOS synchronous spectra, which reflected the differences in characteristic information between different P. notoginseng contents more clearly. Then, the feature information of P. notoginseng contents was extracted from the 2DCOS synchronous spectra by a competitive adaptive reweighted sampling (CARS) method and was used to build a quantitative model combined with a support vector regression machine (SVR), called 2DCOS-CARS-SVR. We obtained a more accurate analysis result than the commonly used principal component analysis (PCA)-partial least squares regression (PLSR) and PCA-SVR. The prediction set correlation coefficient and root mean square error reached 0.9915% and 0.8160%, respectively.

RESUMEN

The terahertz (THz) absorption spectra of coumarin and 6-methylcoumarin have been investigated by terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) system in the frequency range from 0.4 to 2.8 THz. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations, both with and without London force dispersion corrections, have been used for the assignment of the experimental THz spectra. To thoroughly interpret the spectrum information, we used potential energy distribution (PED) method to assign the vibrational modes of the absorption peaks, and identify the origin of the absorption peaks by electrostatic potential (ESP) and van der Waals (vdW) potential distribution analysis method. The results show that absorption peaks both for coumarin and 6-methylcoumarin are caused by electrostatic interaction in the lower frequency range, while vdW interaction in the higher frequency. Moreover, the potential energy distribution of electrostatic and vdW between them is basically the same, and it led to the similarity of THz spectra between coumarin and 6-MC. This work has demonstrated that using THz spectroscopy combined with DFT calculations is an effective way to analysis of intermolecular weak interactions and biomolecules with similar structures.

RESUMEN

Political optimizer (PO) is a relatively state-of-the-art meta-heuristic optimization technique for global optimization problems, as well as real-world engineering optimization, which mimics the multi-staged process of politics in human society. However, due to a greedy strategy during the election phase, and an inappropriate balance of global exploration and local exploitation during the party switching stage, it suffers from stagnation in local optima with a low convergence accuracy. To overcome such drawbacks, a sequence of novel PO variants were proposed by integrating PO with Quadratic Interpolation, Advance Quadratic Interpolation, Cubic Interpolation, Lagrange Interpolation, Newton Interpolation, and Refraction Learning (RL). The main contributions of this work are listed as follows. (1) The interpolation strategy was adopted to help the current global optima jump out of local optima. (2) Specifically, RL was integrated into PO to improve the diversity of the population. (3) To improve the ability of balancing exploration and exploitation during the party switching stage, a logistic model was proposed to maintain a good balance. To the best of our knowledge, PO combined with the interpolation strategy and RL was proposed here for the first time. The performance of the best PO variant was evaluated by 19 widely used benchmark functions and 30 test functions from the IEEE CEC 2014. Experimental results revealed the superior performance of the proposed algorithm in terms of exploration capacity.

RESUMEN

This paper develops an effective identification method to discriminate genetically modified (GM) and non-GM organisms. The method is proposed based on terahertz (THz) spectroscopy and support vector machines optimized by Cuckoo Search algorithm (CS-SVM). In this study, the THz spectra of three GM and non-GM soya seed samples were obtained by using terahertz time-domain spectroscopy (THz-TDS) system between 0.2 and 1.2 THz. Then, the SVM model is employed to distinguish GM and non-GM soya seeds, in which the two crucial parameters, including the penalty factor and kernel parameter, are optimized by CS algorithm. The experimental results show that THz spectroscopy combined with CS-SVM can provide a rapid, reliable and non-invasive method for GMOs and non-GMOs discrimination.

RESUMEN

We propose a new meta-heuristic algorithm named Levy flights multi-verse optimizer (LFMVO), which incorporates Levy flights into multi-verse optimizer (MVO) algorithm to solve numerical and engineering optimization problems. The Original MVO easily falls into stagnation when wormholes stochastically re-span a number of universes (solutions) around the best universe achieved over the course of iterations. Since Levy flights are superior in exploring unknown, large-scale search space, they are integrated into the previous best universe to force MVO out of stagnation. We test this method on three sets of 23 well-known benchmark test functions and an NP complete problem of test scheduling for Network-on-Chip (NoC). Experimental results prove that the proposed LFMVO is more competitive than its peers in both the quality of the resulting solutions and convergence speed.
