RESUMEN

Environmental awareness is receiving increasing attention in the petroleum industry, especially when associated with chemical agents applied in enhanced oil recovery (EOR) technology. The bio-based surfactant sodium cocoyl alaninate (SCA) is environmentally friendly and can be easily biodegraded, which makes it a promising alternative to traditional surfactants. Herein, the SCA surfactant is proposed as a foaming agent for enhanced oil recovery. Laboratory investigations on the surfactant concentration, foaming performance, microbubble characterization, interfacial tension, and foam-flooding of the traditional surfactants SDS and OP-10 have been conducted. In particular, the anti-salt abilities of these three surfactants have been studied, taking into consideration the reservoir conditions at Bohai Bay Basin, China. The results show that concentrations of 0.20 wt%, 0.20 wt% and 0.50 wt% for SCA, SDS and OP-10, respectively, can achieve optimum foaming ability and foaming stability under formation salinity conditions, and 0.20 wt% SCA achieved the best foaming ability and stability compared to 0.20 wt% SDS and 0.50 wt% OP-10. Sodium fatty acid groups and amino acid groups present in the SCA molecular structure have high surface activities under different salinity conditions, making SCA an excellent anti-salt surfactant for enhanced oil recovery. The microstructure analysis results showed that most of the SCA bubbles were smaller in size, with an average diameter of about 150 µm, and the distribution of SCA bubbles was more uniform, which can reduce the risk of foam coalescence and breakdown. The IFT value of the SCA/oil system was measured to be 0.157 mN m-1 at 101.5 °C, which was the lowest. A lower IFT can make liquid molecules more evenly distributed on the surface, and enhance the elasticity of the foam film. Core-flooding experimental results showed that a 0.30 PV SCA foam and secondary waterflooding can enhance oil recovery by more than 15% after primary waterflooding, which can reduce the mobility ratio from 3.7711 to 1.0211. The more viscous SCA foam caused a greater flow resistance, and effectively reduced the successive water fingering, leading to a more stable driving process to fully displace the remaining oil within the porous media. The bio-based surfactant SCA proposed in this paper has the potential for application in enhanced oil recovery in similar high-salt oil reservoirs.

RESUMEN

In view of the problems of low liquid production, a high proportion of high water cut wells, and poor development effect in the late stage of water flooding in the special sandstone reservoir of Niuquanhu "low permeability and medium viscosity crude oil", we carried out the research on hydrocarbon gas oil recovery and its influencing factors. First, the influence of different injected gas media on the physical properties of crude oil was analyzed. Second, the core displacement experiments of different gas injection media including CO2, CH4, and hydrocarbon gas were carried out by using the method of oil recovery comparison and optimization. Third, the indoor experimental study on the oil recovery of different influencing factors was carried out by using the method of controlling variables of influencing factors. Finally, the influence degree of different influencing factors on oil recovery was analyzed by a Spearman rank correlation coefficient analysis. The experimental results showed that the oil recovery of hydrocarbon gas is higher than that of CO2 and CH4, which were 57, 51, and 18% respectively. This is mainly because hydrocarbon gas is similar to the components of crude oil and is more easily dissolved in crude oil. The experimental results of influencing factors showed that the higher the content of C2-C4, the higher the oil recovery, and the content of C2-C4 will affect its dissolution with crude oil and its interaction with heavy component crude oil. The larger the permeability ratio, the lower the oil recovery, which was mainly due to the uneven distribution of injected gas in different regions. The higher the permeability, the lower the oil recovery, which was also due to the serious heterogeneity of the low permeability core of Niuquanhu; The results of Spearman rank correlation coefficient analysis based on different influencing factors and oil recovery showed that the order of influence of different factors on oil recovery was C2-C4 content > permeability ratio > permeability > back pressure > gas injection rate. In the development process of hydrocarbon gas injection, we should control the C2-C4 content, back pressure, and injection rate. The research in this study not only provides theoretical support for gas injection enhanced oil recovery technology in "low permeability and medium viscosity crude oil" reservoirs but also provides a new idea for the ranking of influencing factors.

RESUMEN

The molecular dynamics simulation was used to simulate the influence of the composite wall stacking effect on shale oil occurrence. The kerogen-illite heterogeneous wall pore model was established to study the effects of temperature, pore size, and wall component ratio on the adsorption ratio and diffusion capacity of shale oil. The calculation results show that the fluid density distribution in the hybrid nanopore is not uniform. When the pore size increases, the proportion of the first adsorption layer to the total adsorption amount decreases rapidly, and the phenomenon of the "solid-like layer" of shale oil in small pores is more obvious. In addition, increases in temperature have little effect on the density peak of the first adsorption layer. With increases in organic matter content in the shale pore model, the diffusion coefficient of fluid decreases gradually, along with adsorption capacity. The influence of the irregular arrangement of kerogen molecules on the adsorption of shale oil is greater than the influence of surface roughness caused by illite on the adsorption.

RESUMEN

Although papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) has a generally decent prognosis, approximately 10% of patients experience recurrence, which is frequently associated with distant metastasis. Stomatin-like protein 2 (SLP-2), a protein located in the mitochondrial intermembrane space, is thought to be a possible cancer promoter. This study aimed to discover the involvement of SLP-2 in PTC motility and angiogenesis, and to initially explore its mechanism. According to the CCLE database, SLP-2 was universally increased in various cancers. Then SLP-2 expression in PTC cell lines was evaluated. Thereafter the influences of SLP-2 knockdown on cell migration, invasion, epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), and angiogenesis were assessed, respectively. The mediated roles of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and MAPKs in the SLP-2 regulation were likewise determined. SLP-2 was discovered to be upregulated in PTC cells, and its knockdown could suppress cell migration, invasion, EMT, and angiogenesis. Declined SLP-2 expression also facilitated ROS generation and inhibited phosphorylation of MAPKs. Moreover, ERK agonist and ROS scavenger treatment partially reversed the impacts of SLP-2 knockdown on cells, indicating SLP-2 regulated generation of ROS and ERK pathway to promote PTC motility and angiogenesis. Generally, SLP-2 appears to be one of the major genes in the pathogenesis of PTC. Silencing its expression may have an impact on the onset and evolution of PTC. The fact that SLP-2 has a considerable influence on ROS levels implies that PTC can be treated by boosting ROS levels.

RESUMEN

Relative permeability of polymer flooding plays a very important role in oil field development. This paper aimed to measure and calculate the relative permeability curves of polymer flooding more accurately. First, viscosity variation law of polymer in porous media was studied. Rock particles of different diameters and cementing agent were used to make artificial cores and hydrophobically associating polymer solutions were prepared for experiments. Polymer solutions were injected into the cores filled with crude oil and irreducible water. In the process of polymer flooding, produced fluid was collected at different water saturations and locations of the core. Polymer solutions were separated and their viscosities were measured. With the experimental data, the viscosity variation rule of polymer transporting in porous media was explored. The result indicates that the viscosity retention rate of polymer solutions transporting in porous media has power function relationship with the water saturation and the dimensionless distance from the core inlet. Finally, the relative permeability curves of polymer flooding were measured by unsteady state method and the viscosity variation rule was applied to the calculation of the relative permeability curves.

RESUMEN

The acrylamide (AM)/methacryloyl ethyl sulfobetaine (SPE)/behenyl polyoxyethylene ether methacrylate (BEM) terpolymer (PASB) was synthesized by soap-free emulsion polymerization. Four types of PASBs were synthesized by adjusting the moles of AM and BEM with constant total moles of monomers. The synthesized copolymers were characterized by Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetry, molecular weight, and viscosity. By measuring the microscopic morphology and backscattered light intensity of the emulsions, the instability process of the emulsions prepared by PASBs was investigated in detail. The main instability processes of the emulsions prepared from PASBs within 45 min were flocculation and coalescence. The intermolecular association of copolymer PASBs was dominated by the behenyl functional groups on the molecular chains. The stability of the emulsions, which were prepared from isoviscosity aqueous solutions controlled by the concentration of the associative copolymers, was increased with the degree of association of copolymers. The hydrophobic association between the copolymer molecules can further slow down the flocculation and coalescence of the emulsion droplets on the basis of the same aqueous solution viscosity, which is one of the reasons for improving the stability of the emulsion.

RESUMEN

The construction of pseudogemini surfactants based on noncovalent interactions (such as electrostatic interaction and π-π stacking) was a powerful method to assemble well-defined aggregates in aqueous solution. The mixtures of butane-1,4-bis(methylimidazolium bromide) ([mim-C4-mim]Br2) and positional isomers of sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS-0,11 or SDBS-3,8) in a molar ratio of 1:2 were studied to characterize the effect of straight and branched alkyl chains on the aggregation behavior of pseudogemini surfactants. Spontaneous phase transition from micelles to vesicles was formed by these two kinds of complexes. Interestingly, a densely stacked onion-like structure (multilamellar vesicles) with more than one dozen layers was fabricated. The micelle and vesicle phases were characterized in detail by cryogenic transmission electron microscopy, polarized optical microscopy, dynamic light scattering, and rheological measurements. It can be clearly demonstrated that the structure of alkyl chain can significantly influence the surface adsorption, solution self-assembly, and aqueous two-phase system of pseudogemini surfactants. Our work provided a convenient technique to achieve controlled self-assembly by introducing positional isomers of surfactants.
