BACKGROUND: The I-FEED classification, scored 0-8, was reported to accurately describe the clinical manifestations of gastrointestinal impairment after colorectal surgery. Therefore, it is interesting to determine whether the I-FEED scoring system is also applicable to patients undergoing lumbar spine surgery. METHODS: Adult patients undergoing elective lumbar spine surgery were enrolled, and the I-FEED score was measured for 4 days after surgery. The I-FEED scoring system incorporates five elements: intake (score: 0, 1, 3), feeling nauseated (score: 0, 1, 3), emesis (score: 0, 1, 3), results of physical exam (score: 0, 1, 3), and duration of symptoms (score: 0, 1, 2). Daily I-FEED scores were summed, and the highest overall score is used to categorize patients into one of three categories: normal (0-2 points), postoperative gastrointestinal intolerance (POGI; 3-5 points), and postoperative gastrointestinal dysfunction (POGD; 6 + points). The construct validity hypothesis testing determines whether the I-FEED category is consistent with objective clinical findings relevant to gastrointestinal impairment, namely, the longer length of hospital stay (LOS), higher inhospital medical cost, more postoperative gastrointestinal medical treatment, and more postoperative non-gastrointestinal complications. RESULTS: A total of 156 patients were enrolled, and 25.0% of patients were categorized as normal, 49.4% POGI, and 25.6% POGD. Patients with higher I-FEED scores agreed with the four validity hypotheses. Patients with POGD had a significantly longer length of hospital stay (1 day longer median stay; p = 0.049) and more inhospital medical costs (approximately 500 Taiwanese dollars; p = 0.037), and more patients with POGD required rectal laxatives (10.3% vs. 32.5% vs. 32.5%; p = 0.026). In addition, more patients with POGD had non-gastrointestinal complications (5.1% vs. 11.7% vs. 30.0%; p = 0.034). CONCLUSION: This study contributes preliminary validity evidence for the I-FEED score as a measure for postoperative gastrointestinal impairment after elective lumbar spine surgery.

Kidney transplant recipients have an increased risk of cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection and disease. A strategy for mitigating the risk of CMV infection in kidney transplant recipients has not yet been established in Taiwan. The Transplantation Society of Taiwan aimed to develop a consensus by expert opinion on the prevention and management of CMV infection. Based on the results of Consensus Conference, we suggested low-dose valganciclovir prophylaxis (450 mg once daily) for kidney transplant recipients. The prophylaxis duration was ≥6 months for high-risk (D+/R-) patients and 3 months for moderate-risk (R+) patients. Even for low-risk (D-/R-) patients, prophylaxis for at least 3 months is recommended because of the high seroprevalence of CMV in Taiwan. CMV prophylaxis was suggested after anti-thymocyte globulin treatment but not after methylprednisolone pulse therapy. Routine surveillance after prophylaxis, secondary prophylaxis after CMV disease treatment, and mTOR inhibitors for primary CMV prophylaxis were not recommended. Letermovir and marabavir are emerging CMV agents used for prophylaxis and refractory CMV disease. CMV immunoglobulins have been used to treat refractory CMV disease in Taiwan. We hope this consensus will help professionals manage patients with CMV in Taiwan to improve the quality of care.

RATIONALE: Early neurological deterioration (END) within 72 hours of stroke onset is associated with poor prognosis. Optimising hydration might reduce the risk of END. AIMS: To determine in acute ischaemic stroke patients if enhanced hydration versus standard hydration reduced the incidence of major (primary) and minor (secondary) END, as whether it increased the incidence of early neurological improvement (secondary), at 72 hours after admissionSample Size Estimate: 244 participants per arm. METHODS AND DESIGN: A prospective, double-blinded, multicentre, parallel-group, randomised controlled trial conducted at 4 hospitals from April 2014 to July 2020, with data analysed in August 2020. The sample size estimated was 488 participants (244 per arm). Ischaemic stroke patients with measurable neurological deficits of onset within 12 hours of emergency department presentation and blood urea nitrogen/creatinine (BUN/Cr) ratio ≥15 at point of admission were enrolled and randomised to 0.9% sodium chloride infusions of varying rates - enhanced hydration (20 mL/kg body weight, one-third given via bolus and remainder over 8 hours) versus standard hydration (60 mL/hour for 8 hours), followed by maintenance infusion of 40-80 mL/hour for the subsequent 64 hours. The primary outcome measure was the incidence of major early neurological deterioration at 72 hours after admission, defined as an increase in National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale of ≥4 points from baseline. RESULTS: 487 participants were randomised (median age 67 years; 287 females). At 72 hours: 7 (2.9%) in the enhanced-hydration arm and 5(2.0%) in the standard-hydration developed major early neurological deterioration (p=0.54). The incidence of minor early neurological deterioration and early neurological improvement did not differ between treatment arms. CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE: Enhanced hydration ratio did not reduce END or improve short term outcomes in acute ischaemic stroke. Cellular senescence is a dynamic biological process triggered by sublethal cell damage and driven by specific changes in gene expression programs. We recently identified ANKRD1 (ankyrin repeat domain 1) as a protein strongly elevated after triggering senescence in fibroblasts. Here, we set out to investigate the mechanisms driving the elevated production of ANKRD1 in the early stages of senescence. Our results indicated that the rise in ANKRD1 levels after triggering senescence using etoposide (Eto) was the result of moderate increases in transcription and translation, and robust mRNA stabilization. Antisense oligomer (ASO) pulldown followed by mass spectrometry revealed a specific interaction of the RNA-binding protein RBMS1 with ANKRD1 mRNA that was confirmed by ribonucleoprotein immunoprecipitation analysis. RBMS1 abundance decreased in the nucleus and increased in the cytoplasm during Eto-induced senescence; in agreement with the hypothesis that RBMS1 may participate in post-transcriptional stabilization of ANKRD1 mRNA, silencing RBMS1 reduced, while overexpressing RBMS1 enhanced ANKRD1 mRNA half-life after Eto treatment. A segment proximal to the ANKRD1 coding region was identified as binding RBMS1 and conferring RBMS1-dependent increased expression of a heterologous reporter. We propose that RBMS1 increases expression of ANKRD1 during the early stages of senescence by stabilizing ANKRD1 mRNA.

RNA modifications, including N6-methyladenosine (m6A), critically modulate protein expression programs in a range of cellular processes. Although the transcriptomes of cells undergoing senescence are strongly regulated, the landscape and impact of m6A modifications during senescence are poorly understood. Here, we report a robust m6A modification of PTCHD4 mRNA, encoding Patched Domain-Containing Protein 4, in senescent cells. The METTL3/METTL14 complex was found to incorporate the m6A modification on PTCHD4 mRNA; addition of m6A rendered PTCHD4 mRNA more stable and increased PTCHD4 production. MeRIP RT-qPCR and eCLIP analyses were used to map this m6A modification to the last exon of PTCHD4 mRNA. Further investigation identified IGF2BP1, but not other m6A readers, as responsible for the stabilization and increased abundance of m6A-modified PTCHD4 mRNA. Silencing PTCHD4, a transmembrane protein, enhanced growth arrest and DNA damage in pre-senescent cells and sensitized them to senolysis and apoptosis. Our results indicate that m6A modification of PTCHD4 mRNA increases the production of PTCHD4, a protein associated with senescent cell survival, supporting the notion that regulating m6A modification on specific mRNAs could be exploited to eliminate senescent cells for therapeutic benefit.

INTRODUCTION: Urothelial cancers were one of the most common malignancies in patients with kidney transplants. Although radical nephroureterectomy is still the standard of care in current guidelines, studies have shown that significantly improved perioperative outcomes can be achieved for patients who underwent bilateral nephroureterectomy. Our study provides evidence on the outcome of bilateral nephroureterectomy and unilateral nephroureterectomy in kidney recipients with upper tract urothelial carcinoma. MATERIAL AND METHODS: In the study, the data of patients from a single center, Chang Gung Memorial Hospital Linkou branch, were collected retrospectively from 1981 to 2023. The patient's detailed information was collected through the medical records in the hospital. RESULTS: A total of 44 cases of kidney recipients with upper urinary tract urothelial carcinoma were collected in this study. Of the patients, 19 nephroureterectomies were performed before 2008 and 24 afterward. Incidental findings of contralateral tumors were noted in 3 out of 6 patients who underwent bilateral nephroureterectomy before 2008 and 3 out of 12 after 2008. Contralateral upper urinary tract urothelial carcinoma after unilateral nephroureterectomy was noted in 3 patients within a median of 8.1 years. The progression-free survival of bilateral nephroureterectomy was significantly better compared with a unilateral group (not reached, 15.8 years, respectively). DISCUSSION: Our study, along with previous studies, provides evidence that bilateral nephroureterectomy may be a better treatment option in kidney recipients with upper tract urothelial carcinoma. Our study has several limitations based on its retrospective nature.

Background/purpose: The chemo-mechanical caries-removal technique is known to offer advantages of selective dentin caries treatment while leaving healthy dental tissues intact. However, current sodium hypochlorite based reagents usually excessively damage dentin collagen. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to develop a novel chemo-mechanical caries-removal system to preserve the collagen network for subsequent prosthetic restorations. Materials and methods: The calfskin-derived collagen was chosen as a model system to investigate the dissolution behavior of collagen under different operating conditions of chemical-ultrasonic treatment systems. The molecular weight, triple-helix structure, the morphology, and functional group of collagen after treatment were investigated. Results: Various concentrations of sodium hypochlorite or zinc chloride together with ultrasonic machinery were chosen to investigate. The outcomes of circular dichroism (CD) spectra demonstrated stability of the triple-helix structure after treatment of a zinc chloride solution. In addition, two apparent bands at molecular weights (MWs) of 130 and 121 kDa evidenced the stability of collagen network. The positive 222 nm and 195 nm negative CD absorption band indicated the existence of a triple-helix structure for type I collagen. The preservation of the morphology and functional group of the collagen network on the etched dentin surface were investigated by in vitro dentin decalcification model. Conclusion: Unlike NaOCl, the 5 wt% zinc chloride solution combined with ultra-sonication showed dissolution rather than denature as well as degradation of the dentin collagen network. Additional in vivo evaluations are needed to verify its usefulness in clinical applications.

Long noncoding (lnc)RNAs modulate gene expression programs in a range of developmental processes in different organs. In skeletal muscle, lncRNAs have been implicated in myogenesis, the process whereby muscle precursor cells form muscle fibers during embryonic development and regenerate muscle fibers in the adult. Here, we discuss OIP5-AS1, a lncRNA that is highly expressed in skeletal muscle and is capable of coordinating protein expression programs during myogenesis. Given that several myogenic functions of OIP5-AS1 involve interactions with MEF2C mRNA and with the microRNA miR-7, it was critical to carefully evaluate the precise levels of OIP5-AS1 during myogenesis. We discuss the approaches used to examine lncRNA copy number using OIP5-AS1 as an example, focusing on quantification by quantitative PCR analysis with reference to nucleic acids of known abundance, by droplet digital (dd)PCR measurement, and by microscopic visualization of individual lncRNAs in cells. We discuss considerations of RNA stoichiometry in light of developmental processes in which lncRNAs are implicated. PURPOSE: Orthosis after lumbar fusion surgery is common. However, the evidence for benefit remains to be determined, especially in tropical areas with heavy workers. To investigate postoperative orthosis and whether it affects pain improvement, quality of life, and fusion rate. METHOD: From May 2021 to May 2022, this single-center prospective randomized clinical trial enrolled 110 patients. We excluded 9 patients, and 101 people were analyzed finally. Corset group, in which participants used a corset for 3 months postoperatively; Non-corset group, in which participants didn't wear any orthosis. ODI and VAS scale were recorded before the surgery: 2 weeks, 1 month, 3 months, half a year, and 1 year postoperatively. The lumbar X-ray was done before the surgery, 6 months postoperatively. All complications in 1 year were recorded. RESULTS: Significant decrease in VAS score in the non-corset group since post-operation day 5 (corset group 3.44 ±â€…1.77, non-corset group 3.36 ±â€…1.75, P = .0093) during admission, and also a decrease in admission duration (corset group 11.08 ±â€…2.39, non-corset group 9.55 ±â€…1.75, P = .0004) were found. There was a significantly better ODI score in the non-corset group since post-operation 1 month, while in the corset group until post-operation 3 months. Both groups had no significant difference in satisfaction, complication rates, and X-ray results, such as fusion, angular rotation, sagittal transition, and slip in the neutral position. CONCLUSION: After the transpedicular screw fixation with posterolateral fusion surgery for degenerative spondylolisthesis, non-orthosis is a safe strategy. It can reduce the admission duration and has the trend for better functional outcomes.

BACKGROUND: Perioperative immunosuppressants, such as surgical stress and opioid use may downregulate anti-cancer immunocytes for patients undergoing pancreatectomy. Thoracic epidural analgesia (TEA) may attenuate these negative effects and provide better anti-cancer immunocyte profile change than intravenous analgesia using opioid. METHODS: We randomly assigned 108 adult patients undergoing pancreatectomy to receive one of two 72-h postoperative analgesia protocols: one was TEA, and the other was intravenous patient-controlled analgesia (IV-PCA). The perioperative proportional changes of immunocytes relevant to anticancer immunity-namely natural killer (NK) cells, cytotoxic T cells, helper T cells, mature dendritic cells, and regulatory T (Treg) cells were determined at 1 day before surgery, at the end of surgery and on postoperative day 1,4 and 7 using flow cytometry. In addition, the progression-free survival and overall survival between the two groups were compared. RESULTS: After surgery, the proportions of NK cells and cytotoxic T cells were significantly decreased; the proportion of B cells and mature dendritic cells and Treg cells were significantly increased. However, the proportions of helper T cells exhibited no significant change. These results were comparable between the two groups. Furthermore, there were no significant differences in progression-free survival (52.75 [39.96] and 57.48 [43.66] months for patients in the TEA and IV-PCA groups, respectively; p = 0.5600) and overall survival (62.71 [35.48] and 75.11 [33.10] months for patients in the TEA and IV-PCA groups, respectively; p = 0.0644). CONCLUSIONS: TEA was neither associated with favorable anticancer immunity nor favorable oncological outcomes for patients undergoing pancreatectomy.

PURPOSE: We observed transient elevations in creatinine levels among kidney recipients after three traditional holidays in Taiwan. This retrospective cohort study aimed to compare the changes in eGFR levels after Chinese New Year, Dragon Boat Festival, and Mid-Autumn Festival, all of which are associated with high-calorie and high-fat diets. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We conducted a retrospective analysis of 364 kidney recipients with stable graft function who were following at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital Linkou from 2018 to 2020. The graft function before and after the festival was determined by calculating the eGFR level using the serum creatinine measured during clinic visits prior to and following the festival. The patients were then categorized into subgroups based on their sex, BMI, and co-morbidities. The eGFR levels before and after the festival were evaluated and compared within these subgroups. RESULTS: A total of 301 kidney recipients have been finally included in this retrospective cohort study. The analysis showed a significant decrease in overall eGFR levels after Chinese New Year (from 56.92 ± 29.70 to 55.14 ± 24.79, P = .006), Mid-Autumn Festival (from 54.03 ± 24.61 to 53.35 ± 24.33, P = .008), and Dragon Boat Festival only in 2020 (from 50.98 ± 24.35 to 49.99 ± 23.45, P = .018). The analysis of subgroups suggested a tendency of renal function decline after all 3 traditional holidays in patient groups with DM or hypertension or nonoverweight status. CONCLUSION: In this study, we observed a significant decline in renal function among kidney recipients following traditional holidays in Taiwan, particularly among recipients with hypertension or diabetes mellitus or those who were not overweight.

BACKGROUND: New-onset diabetes after transplantation and increased insulin resistance have both been shown to affect graft performance and survival after kidney transplantation. Thus, we aimed to evaluate the predictive roles of different insulin resistance indices on early graft function in kidney transplant recipients. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We conducted a retrospective analysis of non-diabetic patients who received kidney transplantation between January 1, 2018 and December 31, 2021. The primary outcome was the predictive role of different insulin resistance indices on early graft function of serum creatinine level and estimated glomerular filtration rate at 1, 3, 6, and 12 months. The secondary outcome analyzed was the possible clinical predictive factors for poor kidney graft function at 12 months. RESULTS: Among 123 kidney transplantation patients, stratification with homeostatic model assessment for insulin resistance showed no significant difference in kidney graft function outcome at 1, 3, 6, and 12 months. However, patients with a higher insulin-to-glucose ratio exhibited a significantly higher serum creatinine level at 3 and 6 months and a significantly lower estimated glomerular filtration rate level at 3, 6, and 12 months. Using multivariate logistic regression analysis, patients with a higher insulin-to-glucose ratio were associated with a poorer kidney graft function 12 months after transplantation. CONCLUSION: Patients with a higher baseline insulin resistance with an insulin-to-glucose ratio ≥of 0.092 exhibited a significantly worse early kidney graft function. Thus, with the identification of patients with increased insulin resistance, early intervention, and preventive measures can be implemented to enhance graft performance further.

BACKGROUND: To adapt to threats in the environment, animals must predict them and engage in defensive behavior. While the representation of a prediction error signal for reward has been linked to dopamine, a neuromodulatory prediction error for aversive learning has not been identified. METHODS: We measured and manipulated norepinephrine release during threat learning using optogenetics and a novel fluorescent norepinephrine sensor. RESULTS: We found that norepinephrine response to conditioned stimuli reflects aversive memory strength. When delays between auditory stimuli and footshock are introduced, norepinephrine acts as a prediction error signal. However, temporal difference prediction errors do not fully explain norepinephrine dynamics. To explain noradrenergic signaling, we used an updated reinforcement learning model with uncertainty about time and found that it explained norepinephrine dynamics across learning and variations in temporal and auditory task structure. CONCLUSIONS: Norepinephrine thus combines cognitive and affective information into a predictive signal and links time with the anticipation of danger.

The study evaluates the performance of OpenAI's GPT-3 model on answering medical exam questions from Staged Senior Professional and Technical Examinations Regulations for Medical Doctors in the field of internal medicine. The study used the official API to connect the questionnaire with the ChatGPT model, and the results showed that the AI model performed reasonably well, with the highest score of 8/13 in chest medicine. However, the overall performance of the AI model was limited, with only chest medicine scoring more than 60. ChatGPT scored relatively high in Chest medicine, Gastroenterology, and general medicine. One of the limitations of the study is the use of non-English text, which may affect the model's performance as the model is primarily trained on English text.

Introduction Acute small subcortical infarctions (SSIs) result from occlusions of small penetrating arteries, and the underlying pathological factors can have different clinical implications. The objective of this study was to assess the clinical relevance of acute SSIs based on their sizes and morphologies. Methods This retrospective case-control study analyzed clinical and imaging data of stroke patients with acute SSIs in penetrating artery territories who underwent MRI within 5 days of stroke onset, registered between 2016 and 2020. We categorized these patients into three groups based on size and morphology: diameter < 20mm, diameter ≧ 20mm, and separated lesions. We then evaluated their clinical characteristics and outcomes. Results We analyzed 726 stroke patients with SSIs, among whom 573 had a diameter <20mm, 99 had a diameter ≥20mm, and 54 had separated lesions. The patients had a median age of 70 years and a median National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score of 4 on arrival. Patients who experienced early neurological deterioration (END) had a significantly lower chance of good functional outcomes (27.3% vs. 64.4%, p<0.001). Patients with a diameter ≧20mm had the most severe NIHSS on arrival and at day 3, the highest rate of END, and the lowest rate of good outcome at 3 months. The incidence of cardioembolism did not differ between patients with diameters of ≥20mm and <20mm. However, multiple logistic regression analysis revealed that separated lesions were more likely to be associated with cardioembolic stroke (adjusted odds ratio [aOR], 7.6; 95% confidence interval [CI], 2.0-28.5) and parent artery stenosis >50% (aOR, 3.8; 95% CI, 2.1-7.0) than a diameter of <20mm. Moreover, SSIs with a diameter of ≥20mm was found to be associated with an increased risk of END compared to that with a diameter of <20mm (aOR, 2.9; 95% CI, 1.7-5.2). Conclusion Our study suggests that the sizes and morphologies of acute SSIs may indicate different underlying pathologies and be linked to diverse clinical outcomes. Our findings also challenge the current imaging criteria for embolic stroke of undetermined source, as we did not find a link between large subcortical infarction and cardioembolic stroke.

The body fluid status in acute stroke is a crucial determinant in early stroke recovery but a real-time method to monitor body fluid status is not available. This study aims to evaluate the relationship between salivary conductivity and body fluid status during the period of intravenous fluid hydration. Between June 2020 to August 2022, patients presenting with clinical signs of stroke at the emergency department were enrolled. Salivary conductivities were measured before and 3 h after intravenous hydration. Patients were considered responsive if their salivary conductivities at 3 h decreased by more than 20% compared to their baseline values. Stroke severity was assessed using the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale, and early neurological improvement was defined as a decrease of ≥ 2 points within 72 h of admission. Among 108 recruited patients, there were 35 of stroke mimics, 6 of transient ischemic attack and 67 of acute ischemic stroke. Salivary conductivity was significantly decreased after hydration in all patients (9008 versus 8118 µs/cm, p = 0.030). Among patients with acute ischemic stroke, the responsive group, showed a higher rate of early neurological improvement within 3 days compared to the non-responsive group (37% versus 10%, p = 0.009). In a multivariate logistic regression model, a decrease in salivary conductivity of 20% or more was found to be an independent factor associated with early neurological improvement (odds ratio 5.42, 95% confidence interval 1.31-22.5, p = 0.020). Real-time salivary conductivity might be a potential indicator of hydration status of the patient with acute ischemic stroke.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) and its risk factors seem to be linked with deteriorated graft function and persists as the major cause of mortality in kidney transplant recipients (KTRs). Diet quality is associated with CVD prevention in the healthy population, however, less study focuses on KTRs. The study aimed to determine the association between diet quality indices and lipid profile abnormalities as risk factors for CVD in KTRs. This prospective study enrolled 106 KTRs who had functioning allografts from September 2016. Lipid profiles included low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), total cholesterol (TC), and triglyceride (TG) and were based on the National Cholesterol Education Program Adult Treatment Panel III recommendations. Three-day dietary data were collected by a well-trained registered dietitian. The Alternative Healthy Eating Index-Taiwan (AHEI-Taiwan), Alternative Healthy Eating Index-2010 (AHEI-2010), and Healthy Eating Index-2015 (HEI-2015) scores were calculated and divided into quartiles and compared accordingly. KTRs' mean LDL-C, HDL-C, TC, and TG levels were 119.8 ± 36.6 mg/dL, 52.0 ± 17.9 mg/dL, 205.8 ± 43.9 mg/dL, and 160.2 ± 121.6 mg/dL, respectively. Compared with the lowest quartile, only the highest quartile of AHEI-Taiwan had lower TC and LDL-C levels. After adjustment for age, gender, energy, Charlson comorbidity index, transplant duration, and dialysis duration, logistic regression analysis revealed that the highest quartile of AHEI-Taiwan had 82% (odds ratio [OR], 0.18; 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.04-0.72, p < 0.05) lower odds of high TC and 88% (OR 0.12; 95% CI 0.03-0.58, p < 0.05) lower odds of high LDL-C, and the highest quartile of HEI-2015 had 77% (OR 0.23; 95% CI 0.05-0.95, p < 0.05) lower odds of high LDL-C. Higher adherence to a healthy diet as per AHEI-Taiwan and HEI-2015 guidelines associated with lower risk of lipid profile abnormalities in KTRs.

Senescent cells are beneficial for repairing acute tissue damage, but they are harmful when they accumulate in tissues, as occurs with advancing age. Senescence-associated extracellular vesicles (S-EVs) can mediate cell-to-cell communication and export intracellular content to the microenvironment of aging tissues. Here, we studied the uptake of EVs from senescent cells (S-EVs) and proliferating cells (P-EVs) and found that P-EVs were readily taken up by proliferating cells (fibroblasts and cervical cancer cells) while S-EVs were not. We thus investigated the surface proteome (surfaceome) of P-EVs relative to S-EVs derived from cells that had reached senescence via replicative exhaustion, exposure to ionizing radiation, or treatment with etoposide. We found that relative to P-EVs, S-EVs from all senescence models were enriched in proteins DPP4, ANXA1, ANXA6, S10AB, AT1A1, and EPHB2. Among them, DPP4 was found to selectively prevent uptake by proliferating cells, as ectopic overexpression of DPP4 in HeLa cells rendered DPP4-expressing EVs that were no longer taken up by other proliferating cells. We propose that DPP4 on the surface of S-EVs makes these EVs refractory to internalization by proliferating cells, advancing our knowledge of the impact of senescent cells in aging-associated processes.
