RESUMEN

Developing large-scale monolithic perovskite/silicon tandem devices based on industrial Czochralski silicon wafers will likely have to adopt double-side textured architecture, given their optical benefits and low manufacturing costs. However, the surface engineering strategies that are widely used in solution-processed perovskites to regulate the interface properties are not directly applicable to micrometric textures. Here, we devise a surface passivation strategy by dynamic spray coating (DSC) fluorinated thiophenethylammonium ligands, combining the advantages of providing conformal coverage and suppressing phase conversion on textured surfaces. From the viewpoint of molecular engineering, theoretical calculation and experimental results demonstrate that introducing trifluoromethyl group provide more effective surface passivation through strong interaction and energy alignment by forming a dipole layer. Consequently, the DSC treatment of this bifunctional molecule enables the tandem cells based on industrial silicon wafers to achieve a certified stabilized power conversion efficiency of 30.89%. In addition, encapsulated devices display excellent operational stability by retaining over 97% of their initial performance after 600 h continuous illumination.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Gastric cancer (GC) is a leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Understanding the molecular mechanisms of GC metastasis is crucial for improving patient survival outcomes. METHODS: RNA sequencing and analysis were performed on tissue samples from primary and lymph node metastatic lesions of gastric cancer. Differential gene analysis and functional pathway analysis were conducted. Immune infiltrating environment and protein expression levels were evaluated using immunohistochemistry. Cell experiments were conducted to investigate the role of CCL21 in GC metastasis. RESULTS: ACTG2, CNN1, DES, MUC6, and PGC were significantly upregulated in primary tumor cells, while CCL21, MS4A1, CR2, CLDN11, and FDCSP were significantly upregulated in metastatic tumor cells. Functional pathway analysis revealed enrichment in pathways related to immune response. CLDN11 and CCL21 were found to play important roles in promoting gastric cancer metastasis. Cell experiments confirmed the role of CCL21 in promoting GC cell growth and metastasis. CCL21 is highly expressed in GC tissues and binds to CCR7, leading to upregulation of CLDN11. This results in GC-lymph node metastasis and abnormal activation of immune cells (B cells and CD4+ T cells). CONCLUSION: Inhibition of CCL21 and CLDN11 proteins may be a promising strategy for treating GC and preventing lymph node metastasis. These findings provide specific molecular markers for early lymph node metastases of GC, which can aid in developing treatment strategies and predicting patient prognosis.

RESUMEN

Perovskite bandgap tuning without quality loss makes perovskites unique among solar absorbers, offering promising avenues for tandem solar cells1,2. However, minimizing the voltage loss when their bandgap is increased to above 1.90 eV for triple-junction tandem use is challenging3-5. Here we present a previously unknown pseudohalide, cyanate (OCN-), with a comparable effective ionic radius (1.97 Å) to bromide (1.95 Å) as a bromide substitute. Electron microscopy and X-ray scattering confirm OCN incorporation into the perovskite lattice. This contributes to notable lattice distortion, ranging from 90.5° to 96.6°, a uniform iodide-bromide distribution and consistent microstrain. Owing to these effects, OCN-based perovskite exhibits enhanced defect formation energy and substantially decreased non-radiative recombination. We achieved an inverted perovskite (1.93 eV) single-junction device with an open-circuit voltage (VOC) of 1.422 V, a VOC × FF (fill factor) product exceeding 80% of the Shockley-Queisser limit and stable performance under maximum power point tracking, culminating in a 27.62% efficiency (27.10% certified efficiency) perovskite-perovskite-silicon triple-junction solar cell with 1 cm2 aperture area.

RESUMEN

PURPOSE: Ubiquitin-specific peptidase 10 (USP10) has been found to have oncogenic activity in several human tumors. This study first revealed the exact function of USP10 on the progression of thyroid cancer (THCA) by researching its effect on the ferroptosis. METHODS: USP10 expression in THCA patients was analyzed by online data analysis and in 75 THCA cases was scrutinized by real-time quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction and Western blot. Influence of USP10 on the viability, colony formation, migration and invasion of THCA cells was demonstrated by cell counting kit-8, colony formation, wound healing and Transwell invasion assays. Effect of USP10 on the Erastin-induced ferroptosis in THCA cells was evaluated by detecting the ferroptosis-related indicators. Intrinsic mechanism of USP10, glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4) and sirtuin 6 (SIRT6) in regulating THCA progression was identified. In vivo xenograft experiment was implemented. RESULTS: USP10 was abundantly expressed in THCA patients, linking to poor outcome. USP10 overexpression enhanced the viability, colony formation, migration and invasion of THCA cells. USP10 mitigated the Erastin-induced ferroptosis in THCA cells, decreased the levels of iron, Fe2+ , malondialdehyde, lipid reactive oxygen species, reduced mitochondrial superoxide level, and increased mitochondrial membrane potential. USP10 facilitated the expression of ferroptosis suppressor GPX4 by elevating SIRT6. Loss of USP10 repressed the in vivo growth of THCA cells. CONCLUSION: USP10 might attenuate the ferroptosis to promote thyroid cancer malignancy by facilitating GPX4 via elevating SIRT6. It might be novel target for the treatment of THCA.

RESUMEN

Atomic layer deposition (ALD) growth of conformal thin SnOx films on perovskite absorbers offers a promising method to improve carrier-selective contacts, enable sputter processing, and prevent humidity ingress toward high-performance tandem perovskite solar cells. However, the interaction between perovskite materials and reactive ALD precursor limits the process parameters of ALD-SnOx film and requires an additional fullerene layer. Here, it demonstrates that reducing the water dose to deposit SnOx can reduce the degradation effect upon the perovskite underlayer while increasing the water dose to promote the oxidization can improve the electrical properties. Accordingly, a SnOx buffer layer with a gradient composition structure is designed, in which the compositionally varying are achieved by gradually increasing the oxygen source during the vapor deposition from the bottom to the top layer. In addition, the gradient SnOx structure with favorable energy funnels significantly enhances carrier extraction, further minimizing its dependence on the fullerene layer. Its broad applicability for different perovskite compositions and various textured morphology is demonstrated. Notably, the design boosts the efficiencies of perovskite/silicon tandem cells (1.0 cm2) on industrially textured Czochralski (CZ) silicon to a certified efficiency of 28.0%.

RESUMEN

Exploring strategies to control the crystallization and modulate interfacial properties for high-quality perovskite film on industry-relevant textured crystalline silicon solar cells is highly valued in the perovskite/silicon tandem photovoltaics community. The formation of a 2D/3D perovskite heterojunction is widely employed to passivate defects and suppress ion migration in the film surface of perovskite solar cells. However, realizing solution-processed heterostructures at the buried interface faces solvent incompatibilities with the challenge of underlying-layer disruption, and texture incompatibilities with the challenge of uneven coverage. Here, a hybrid two-step deposition method is used to prepare robust 2D perovskites with cross-linkable ligands underneath the 3D perovskite. This structurally coherent interlayer benefits by way of preferred crystal growth of strain-free and uniform upper perovskite, inhibits interfacial defect-induced instability and recombination, and promotes charge-carrier extraction with ideal energy-level alignment. The broad applicability of the bottom-contact heterostructure for different textured substrates with conformal coverage and various precursor solutions with intact properties free of erosion are demonstrated. With this buried interface engineering strategy, the resulting perovskite/silicon tandem cells, based on industrially textured Czochralski (CZ) silicon, achieve a certified efficiency of 28.4% (1.0 cm2 ), while retaining 89% of the initial PCE after over 1000 h operation.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Tripartite motif-containing 29 (TRIM29) has been found to be involved in the regulation of cancer progression and its function varies depending on the type of cancer. However, the role of TRIM29 in cholangiocarcinoma has yet to be revealed. PURPOSE: This study initially explored the role of TRIM29 in cholangiocarcinoma. METHODS: TRIM29 expression in cholangiocarcinoma cells were scrutinized by quantitative real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction and Western blot. The function of TRIM29 on cholangiocarcinoma cell viability, proliferation, migration and sphere formation abilities were studied by cell count kit-8, clone formation, Transwell and sphere formation assays. TRIM29 effect on the expression of proteins associated with epithelial-mesenchymal transition and cancer stem cell characteristics were researched by Western blot. TRIM29 effect on MAPK and ß-catenin pathway activity was researched through Western blot. RESULTS: TRIM29 was overexpressed in cholangiocarcinoma cells. TRIM29 silencing mitigated the viability, proliferation, migration and sphere formation abilities of cholangiocarcinoma cells, increased E-cadherin expression and decreased the expression of N-cadherin, Vimentin, CD33, Sox2 and Nanog proteins in cholangiocarcinoma cells. The loss of TRIM29 suppressed the expression of p-MEK1/2/MEK1/2 and p-ERK1/2/ERK1/2 in cholangiocarcinoma cells. The inhibition of the MAPK and ß-catenin signaling pathways abrogated the promotion of TRIM29 on cholangiocarcinoma cell viability, proliferation, migration, EMT, and cancer stem cell characteristics. CONCLUSION: TRIM29 plays an oncogenic role in cholangiocarcinoma. It may promote the malignancy of cholangiocarcinoma via inducing the activation of the MAPK and ß-catenin pathways. Thus, TRIM29 may aid in the creation of innovative treatment strategies for cholangiocarcinoma.

RESUMEN

Background: Carotid body tumor (CBT) is the most common head and neck paraganglioma. Whether preoperative embolization benefits CBT patients who will receive surgical resection is still controversial. Methods: In this multi-center retrospective study, we collected data from patients with CBT who received surgical treatment without (group A) or with preoperative embolization (group B) from 2011 to 2019. The primary outcome was the rate of death or stroke after 3 years of follow-up. The secondary outcomes of the study were length of operation (LOO), intraoperative blood loss (IBL), length of stay (LOS), rate of recurrence, and rate of cranial nerve (CN) injuries. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the demographics, clinical characteristics, complications, and follow-up results of the patients. Results: Between January 2011 and October 2019, 261 consecutive patients (107 male and 154 female) entered analysis. After 3 years of follow-up, no patient died in both groups. Only three patients with stroke were detected: 2/226 (0.9%) in group A vs. 1/35 (2.9%) in group B (p = .308). The LOO in group A was 132.6 ± 64.6 min compared with 152.9 ± 40.4 min in group B (p = .072). IBL in group A was 375.4 ± 497.8 ml compared with 448.0 ± 270.8 ml in group B (p = .400). LOS in group A was 8.3 ± 2.0 days compared with 7.4 ± 1.7 days in group B (p = .016). Seventy-two CN injuries were detected: 65/226 (28.8%) in group A vs. 7/35 (20.0%) in group B (p = .281). There were 65 temporary CN injuries (59 in group A vs. 6 in group B) (p = .254) and seven permanent CN injuries (6 in group A vs. 1 in group B) (p = .945). Three most frequently injured cranial nerves were the pharyngeal branch and superior laryngeal nerve (12.3%), recurrent laryngeal nerve (7.7%) and vagus nerve (7.3%). Conclusion: There was insufficient evidence to support the efficacy of preoperative embolization. CBT resection alone had a similar rate of stoke, recurrence, and CN injuries when compared with CBT resection with preoperative arterial embolization. Meanwhile, CBT resection alone did not increase LOO and IBL.

RESUMEN

An anisotropic power spectrum of the refractive-index fluctuation in hypersonic turbulence was obtained by processing the experimental image of the hypersonic plasma sheath and transforming the generalized anisotropic von Kármán spectrum. The power spectrum suggested here can provide as good a fit to measured spectrum data for hypersonic turbulence as that recorded from the nano-planar laser scattering image. Based on the newfound anisotropic hypersonic turbulence power spectrum, Rytov approximation was employed to establish the wave structure function and the spatial coherence radius model of electromagnetic beam propagation in hypersonic turbulence. Enhancing the anisotropy characteristics of the hypersonic turbulence led to a significant improvement in the propagation performance of electromagnetic beams in hypersonic plasma sheath. The influence of hypersonic turbulence on electromagnetic beams increases with the increase of variance of the refractive-index fluctuation and the decrease of turbulence outer scale and anisotropy parameters. The spatial coherence radius was much smaller than that in atmospheric turbulence. These results are fundamental to understanding electromagnetic wave propagation in hypersonic turbulence.

RESUMEN

The role of electron donors (Fe(2+) and Mn(2+)) in the autotrophic denitrification of contaminated groundwater by bacterial strain SY6 was characterized based on empirical laboratory-scale analysis. Strain SY6 can utilize Fe(2+) more efficiently than Mn(2+) as an electron donor. This study has shown that the highest nitrate removal ratio, observed with Fe(2+) as the electron donor, was approximately 88.89%. An immobilized biological filter reactor was tested by using three levels of influent nitrate (10, 30, and 50 mg/L), three pH levels (6, 7, and 8), and three levels of hydraulic retention time (HRT; 6, 8, and 12 h), respectively. An optimal nitrate removal ratio of about 95% was achieved at pH 6.0 using a nitrate concentration of 50 mg/L and HRT of 12 h with Fe(2+) as an electron donor. The study showed that 90% of Fe(2+) and 75.52% removal of Mn(2+) were achieved at pH 8.0 with a nitrate concentration of 50 mg/L and a HRT of 12 h. Removal ratio of Fe(2+) and Mn(2+) is higher with higher influent nitrate and HRT. A weakly alkaline environment assisted the removal of Fe(2+) and Mn(2+).

RESUMEN

A new strain, named SYF26, was isolated from the Hei He oligotrophic drinking-water reservoir in China. Based on its phenotypic and phylogenetic characteristics, the isolate was identified as a species of genus Acinetobacter. Strain SYF26 was able to grow at low NH4(+)-N concentrations (5.46 mg l(-1)), and the nitrification rate was 0.064 mg NH4(+)-N l(-1) h(-1). Low accumulation of nitrate and nitrite was observed throughout the ammonium removal experiment. Strain SYF26 reduced NO3(-)-N or NO2(-)-N. Nitrite reductase and periplasmic nitrate reductase were detectable. The putative nitrogen removal process carried out by the strain SYF26 is as follows: NH4(+)→NH2OH→NO2(-)→NO3(-), then NO3(-)→NO2(-)→N2. Response surface methodology analysis demonstrated that the maximum removal of ammonium occurred under the following conditions: NH4(+)-N concentration of 22.05 mg l(-1), C/N ratio of 4.31, initial pH of 7.78 and temperature of 29.73 °C, where initial pH and temperature had the largest influence on ammonium removal.
