RESUMEN

Introduction: Rare studies have reported pilomatricoma in twins, and extremely rare cases showed lesions in the same part of the body position. We reported a case of monozygotic twins with pilomatricoma in the same location on the skin of the right upper extremity. Case Presentation: Seven-year-old monozygotic twins presented to our department with a palpable, painless, and solid mass in the subcutaneous tissue of the right upper limb. A 1.5-cm diameter nodule was seen on the anterolateral aspect of the right upper extremity of the twins. The node was irregular in shape, and upon palpation, the patients reported no noticeable tenderness. Following the administration of local anesthesia, the twins underwent surgical procedure to excise the solid mass. Finally, they were diagnosed with pilomatricoma based on the clinical and histopathological features. Complete surgical resection followed by primary closure was performed. During a follow-up period of three years, there has been no recurrence observed in the twins. Conclusion: We reported a case of monozygotic twins with pilomatricoma in the same location on the skin of the right upper arm. Our findings underscore the requirement of considering genetic factors in the diagnosis and treatment of the rare conditions.

RESUMEN

In recent times, there has been significant interest in the utilization of cellulose nanofiber (CNF) films as the foundation for supercapacitors due to their three-dimensional structure, flexibility and eco-friendliness. An ultrasonic and vacuum filtration method was used to prepare a hybrid film consisting of MXene (Ti3C2Tx), CNF and liquid metal (LM). The combination of CNF and LM with MXene produces a porous structure with higher electrical conductivity, which facilitates the transportation of ions and electrons within the composition and confers the material with heightened electrochemical properties. The CNF/MXene/LM electrode has a significant area capacitance of 871.3 mF cm-2 at a current density of 5 mA cm-2. The hybrid film demonstrates excellent stability, maintaining a high conductivity of 546.4 S∙cm-1 and retaining 96.9 % capacitance after 2000 cycles at a current density of 10 mA cm-2. By utilizing the thin film as an electrode, a high-performance quasi-solid supercapacitor was fabricated, with a remarkably thin thickness of only 0.319 mm. Supercapacitors show exceptional electrical properties, including a surface-specific capacitance of 188.2 mF cm-2 at a current density of 5 mA cm-2. This study indicates that flexible electrodes made from cellulose nanofiber have extensive potential in the realm of supercapacitors.

RESUMEN

The recent discovery of superconductivity in infinite-layer nickelates generates tremendous research endeavors, but the ground state of their parent compounds is still under debate. Here, we report experimental evidence for the dominant role of Kondo scattering in the underdoped Nd1-xSrxNiO2 thin films. A resistivity minimum associated with logarithmic temperature dependence in both longitudinal and Hall resistivities are observed in the underdoped Nd1-xSrxNiO2 samples before the superconducting transition. At lower temperatures down to 0.04 K, the resistivities become saturated, following the prediction of the Kondo model. A linear scaling behavior [Formula: see text] between anomalous Hall conductivity [Formula: see text] and conductivity [Formula: see text]is revealed, verifying the dominant Kondo scattering at low temperature. The effect of weak (anti-)localization is found to be secondary. Our experiments can help in clarifying the basic physics in the underdoped Nd1-xSrxNiO2 infinite-layer thin films.

RESUMEN

Introduction: Malignant skin lesions pose a great threat to the health of patients. Due to the limitations of existing diagnostic techniques, such as poor accuracy and invasive operations, malignant skin lesions are highly similar to other skin lesions, with low diagnostic efficiency and high misdiagnosis rates. Automatic medical image classification using computer algorithms can effectively improve clinical diagnostic efficiency. However, existing clinical datasets are sparse and clinical images have complex backgrounds, problems with noise interference such as light changes and shadows, hair occlusions, etc. In addition, existing classification models lack the ability to focus on lesion regions in complex backgrounds. Methods: In this paper, we propose a DBN (double branch network) based on a two-branch network model that uses a backbone with the same structure as the original network branches and the fused network branches. The feature maps of each layer of the original network branch are extracted by our proposed CFEBlock (Common Feature Extraction Block), the common features of the feature maps between adjacent layers are extracted, and then these features are combined with the feature maps of the corresponding layers of the fusion network branch by FusionBlock, and finally the total prediction results are obtained by weighting the prediction results of both branches. In addition, we constructed a new dataset CSLI (Clinical Skin Lesion Images) by combining the publicly available dataset PAD-UFES-20 with our collected dataset, the CSLI dataset contains 3361 clinical dermatology images for six disease categories: actinic keratosis (730), cutaneous basal cell carcinoma (1136), malignant melanoma (170) cutaneous melanocytic nevus (391), squamous cell carcinoma (298) and seborrheic keratosis (636). Results: We divided the CSLI dataset into a training set, a validation set and a test set, and performed accuracy, precision, sensitivity, specificity, f1score, balanced accuracy, AUC summary, visualisation of different model training, ROC curves and confusion matrix for various diseases, ultimately showing that the network performed well overall on the test data. Discussion: The DBN contains two identical feature extraction network branches, a structure that allows shallow feature maps for image classification to be used with deeper feature maps for information transfer between them in both directions, providing greater flexibility and accuracy and enhancing the network's ability to focus on lesion regions. In addition, the dual branch structure of DBN provides more possibilities for model structure modification and feature transfer, and has great potential for development.

RESUMEN

Conductive hydrogels have good prospects in the fields of flexible electronic devices and artificial intelligence due to their biocompatibility, durability, and functional diversity. However, the process of hydrogel polymerization is time-consuming and energy-consuming, and freezing at zero temperature is inevitable, which seriously hinders its applications and working life. Herein, zwitterionic conductive hydrogels with self-adhesive and antifreeze properties were prepared in one minute by introducing two-dimensional (2D) MXene nanosheets into the autocatalytically enhanced system composed of tannic acid-modified cellulose nanofibers and zinc chloride. The system has strong environmental applicability (-60 to 40 °C), good stretchability (ductility ≈ 980%), durable adhesion (even after 30 days of exposure to air), and strong electrical conductivity (20 °C, 30 mS cm-1). By virtue of these advantages, the prepared zwitterionic hydrogels can be developed into flexible strain sensors to monitor large human movements and subtle physiological signals over a wide temperature range and to capture signals from handwriting and voice recognition. In addition, multiple flexible sensors can be assembled into a three-dimensional (3D) array, which can detect the magnitude and spatial distribution of strain or force. These results demonstrate that the prepared zwitterionic hydrogels have promising applications in the fields of medical monitoring and artificial intelligence.

RESUMEN

The rapid healing and repair of skin wounds has been receiving much clinical attention. Covering the wound with wound dressing to promote wound healing is currently the main treatment for skin wound repair. However, the performance of wound dressing prepared by a single material is limited and cannot meet the requirements of complex conditions for wound healing. MXene is a new two-dimensional material with electrical conductivity, antibacterial and photothermal properties and other physical and biological properties, which has a wide range of applications in the field of biomedicine. Based on the pathophysiological process of wound healing and the properties of ideal wound dressing, this review will introduce the preparation and modification methods of MXene, systematically summarize and review the application status and mechanism of MXene in skin wound healing, and provide guidance for subsequent researchers to further apply MXene in the design of skin wound dressing.

RESUMEN

In recent years, supercapacitors based on cellulose nanofiber (CNF) films have received considerable attention for their excellent flexibility, lightweight, and unique structure. In this study, MXene (Ti3C2Tx) /CNF/polyaniline (PANI) hybrid films with good conductivity and flexibility were prepared by a convenient vacuum filtration method. Combined with PANI, MXene creates an open structure with high conductivity, which facilitates ion and electron transport among the materials and provides the composite with high electrochemical activity. The MXene/CNF/PANI electrode presents a high areal specific capacitance of 2935 mF cm-2 at the current density of 1 mA cm-2, excellent cycling stability with high capacitance retention of 94 % after 2000 cycles at 10 mA cm-2 and high electrical conductivity (634.4 S∙cm-1). As a further application of this film, it is used as a free-standing electrode to fabricate a quasi-solid-state supercapacitor with high performance, which has an ultra-thin thickness of 0.344 mm, a significantly high areal specific capacitance (522 mF cm-2) at 5 mA cm-2, a high areal energy density of 94.7 µWh∙cm-2 and a high areal power density of 573 µW∙cm-2. This work shows the great potential of the developed high-performance and flexible cellulose-based composites for fabricating electrodes as well as supercapacitors.

RESUMEN

Although chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) is a common disease, GWASs of CSU are lacking. We aimed to identify susceptibility SNPs by performing a GWAS in Chinese Han adults with CSU. The discovery cohort included 430 CSU cases and 482 healthy controls. The GWAS findings were validated in 800 CSU cases and 900 healthy controls. Genetic, functional enrichment, and bioinformatic analyses of genome-wide significant SNPs were performed to assess the association between CSU and autoimmunity or atopy. Five genome-wide significant SNPs were identified: rs434124/LILRA3, rs61986182/IGHG1/2, rs73075571/TDGF1, rs9378141/HLA-G, and rs3789612/PTPN22. The first four SNPs were in linkage disequilibrium with autoimmune-related diseases‒associated SNPs and were cis-expression quantitative trait loci in immune cells. The five SNPs-annotated genes were significantly enriched in immune processes. Higher polygenic risk scores and allele frequencies of rs3789612∗T, rs9378141∗C, and rs73075571∗G were significantly associated with autoimmune-related CSU phenotypes, including positive antithyroglobulin IgG, positive anti-FcεRIα IgG, total IgE <40 IU/ml, and positive antithyroid peroxidase IgG but not with atopic or allergic sensitized CSU phenotypes. This GWAS of CSU identifies five risk loci and reveals that CSU shares genetic overlap with autoimmune diseases and that genetic factors predisposing to CSU mainly manifest through associations with autoimmune traits.

RESUMEN

The purpose of the current study was to examine the serial mediating effects of rejection sensitivity and social withdrawal on parental psychological control and attitudes toward seeking professional psychological help among senior high school students. In November 2022, 648 students completed a self-report questionnaire. The parental psychological control scale, senior high school students' rejection sensitivity scale, social withdrawal scale, and attitudes toward seeking professional psychological help scale were used for measurement. Correlation analysis showed parental psychological control and rejection sensitivity were positively correlated with social withdrawal (r = 0.387, 0.466, 0.495, all p < 0.001). Parental psychological control and rejection sensitivity were significantly negatively correlated with social withdrawal and attitudes toward seeking professional psychological help (r = -0.325, -0.324, -0.397, all p < 0.001). Mediating effect analysis indicated that parental psychological control had a significant direct effect on attitude toward seeking professional psychological help, and rejection sensitivity and social withdrawal had significant serial mediating effects among parental psychological control and attitudes toward seeking professional psychological help in senior high school students. These aspects warrant attention as they play significant roles in influencing students' willingness to seek psychological assistance. RESUMEN

Immunoglobulin (Ig) E and IgG anti-thyroid autoantibodies (AAbs) play important roles in the immunopathogenesis of chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU). To date, association of IgE and IgG AAbs with Chinese CSU patients has not been fully investigated. We aimed to explore prevalence rates of IgE and IgG AAbs in Chinese CSU patients and their association with clinical and laboratory parameters. Serum IgE and IgG AAbs against thyroid peroxidase (TPO) and thyroglobulin (TG), total IgE (tIgE) and specific IgEs were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, chemiluminescence microparticle immunoassay and immunoblotting. Meta-analyses and literature review were conducted. The meta-analyses indicated that CSU cases were 4.98, 6.90 and 6.68 times more likely to have positive anti-TPO IgE, anti-TPO IgG and anti-TG IgG (all P < 0.001) compared with controls, respectively, and revealed a positive correlation between the prevalence rates of anti-TPO IgE and anti-TPO IgG (r = 0.53, P = 0.025). A total of 1,100 Chinese Han adult CSU patients and 1,100 ethnicity-, age- and sex-matched healthy controls were recruited from 15 centers. Prevalence rates of anti-TPO IgE, anti-TPO IgG, anti-TG IgE or anti-TG IgG in the patients were all significantly higher than those in the controls. Significant correlations were observed between prevalence rates of anti-TPO IgE and anti-TPO IgG (r = 0.297, P < 0.001) as well as between those of anti-TG IgE and anti-TG IgG in the patients (r = 0.137, P < 0.001). Patients with anti-TPO IgE or anti-TPO IgG had significantly lower tIgE levels (P < 0.001). Positive anti-TPO IgE, positive anti-TPO IgG and tIgE < 40 IU/mL were independent predictors of antihistamine-refractory cases. In conclusion, the prevalence rates of IgE and IgG AAbs in Chinese CSU patients are significantly elevated and reciprocally correlated. This study verifies the results of previous case-control studies of CSU patients from other populations and ethnicities.

RESUMEN

Sensitive strain sensors have attracted more attention due to their applications in health monitoring and human-computer interaction. However, the problems existing in conventional hydrogels, such as inherent brittleness, freezing at low temperature, low toughness, and water evaporation, have greatly hindered the practical applications. In order to solve the above problems, herein, we designed dual network multifunctionality organohydrogels using polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) covalent cross-linking polymer as the first network, the bacterial celluloses (BCs) and calcium chloride by ligand binding as the second network. The prepared organohydrogels showed good conductivity and sensitivity over a wide temperature range (-20 âˆ¼ 40 ℃), and maintained long-term stability (>15 days) in the air. In addition, the dynamic combination of BCs-Ca2 + and hydrogen bonds in the binary system further endows the organohydrogels with excellent tensile strength (≈1.0 MPa), tensile strain (≈1300%), toughness (≈6.2 MJ m-3), conductivity (3.4 S m-1), gauge factor (≈1.24), adhesion (≈0.3 MPa), and self-healing properties (self-healing tensile strain to 632%). Therefore, this organohydrogel has potential candidates for flexible electronic skin, motion monitoring, and soft robotics.

RESUMEN

Developing efficient strategy for nanomaterials dispersion is the key for promoting the utilization of cellulose-based composite in energy storage devices. In this study, an instant synthesis method for cellulose nanofiber (CNF)/reduced graphene oxide (rGO) composite film with a deep eutectic solvent (DES) based on choline chloride and urea as a media is developed. This DES shows favorable abilities of recyclability, materials dispersion, and could adjust the pH value for reaction systems of neutral to alkaline which in favor of electrostatic repulsion arising from deprotonated carboxyl groups at the composite surface. As-obtained films feature excellent flexibility, high electrical conductivity (as high as 26.47 S∙cm-1) and well electrochemical properties. Furthermore, a little amount of nitrogen atoms (~3.0 at%) could be introduced in the composite at a mild condition. Overall, this approach offers the potential for cost-effective, environmentally friendly and large-scale production of cellulose-based electrode and numerous advanced applications.

RESUMEN

Increasing studies have highlighted the effects of the tumor immune micro-environment (TIM) on colon cancer (CC) tumorigenesis, prognosis, and metastasis. However, there is no reliable molecular marker that can effectively estimate the immune infiltration and predict the CC relapse risk. Here, we leveraged the gene expression profile and clinical characteristics from 1430 samples, including four gene expression omnibus database (GEO) databases and the cancer genome atlas (TCGA) database, to construct an immune risk signature that could be used as a predictor of survival outcome and immune activity. A risk model consisting of 10 immune-related genes were screened out in the Lasso-Cox model and were then aggregated to generate the immune risk signature based on the regression coefficients. The signature demonstrated robust prognostic ability in discovery and validation datasets, and this association remained significant in the multivariate analysis after controlling for age, gender, clinical stage, or microsatellite instability status. Leukocyte subpopulation analysis indicated that the low-risk signature was enriched with cytotoxic cells (activated CD4/CD8+ T cell and NK cell) and depleted of myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSC) and regulatory T cells. Further analysis indicated patients with a low-risk signature harbored higher tumor mutation loads and lower mutational frequencies in significantly mutated genes of APC and FBXW7. Together, our constructed signature could predict prognosis and represent the TIM of CC, which promotes individualized treatment and provides a promising novel molecular marker for immunotherapy.

RESUMEN

A 31-year-old male patient with psoriasis received administration of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) during a disease course of 14 years. He showed multiple keratoma together with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) in left lower limbs. After admission, the conditions were stable after treatment, and received surgery for treating SCC. The skin defect was treated using full-thickness skin graft. The postoperative survival of the flap was satisfactory, and the conditions of psoriasis were well controlled. In this case, we presented the feasibility of graft in the donor site from a psoriatic lesion. Besides, we analyzed the possibility of SCC and keratinizing lesions.

RESUMEN

To investigate the application of the vermillion myocutaneous flap in restoration after lip cancer resection. From July 2012 to December 2019, six patients with lip cancer admitted in our department were included in this study. Total defect of the whole layer of the lip, accounted for 1/3 to 1/2 of the total length of the lip after tumor resection, were repaired by vermillion myocutaneous flap. For the case defect presenting >1/2 of the total length of the lip, a local rotational flap was designed with vermillion myocutaneous flap compound to repair the defect. At present, the patients were followed up for 6 months to 7 years. There was no tumor recurrence. The aesthetic effects and function of lip after operation were ideal, with satisfactory outcomes. Vermillion myocutaneous flap with the labial artery as the axis was an effective method to restore the anatomical structure and function of the lip. In the presence of a defect area of larger than 1/2 of the length of the whole lip, local skin flap can be used for simultaneous repair in order to achieve satisfactory outcome.

RESUMEN

Weyl semimetal WTe2 has attracted considerable attention owing to its extremely large, unsaturated and quadratic magnetoresistance. Here, we study the magnetotransport properties of WTe2-δ thin film, which shows an unsaturated and linear magnetoresistance of up to ∼1650%. A more complex and accurate method, known as the maximum entropy mobility spectrum, is used to analyze the mobility and density of carriers. The results show that linear magnetoresistance can be explained by the classical disorder model because the slope of linear magnetoresistance and the crossover field are proportional to the mobility and inverse mobility, respectively. Furthermore, the validity of the maximum entropy mobility spectrum is validated by the Shubnikov-de Haas oscillations. Moreover, at low temperature, we determined that the unsaturated and near-quadratic magnetoresistance in the WTe1.93 thin film can be explained by charge compensation. Note that the electron-hole compensation is broken in the WTe1.42 thin film, which indicates that the carrier scattering induced by the disorder may suppress the charge compensation in the WTe2 sample with defects/dopants. To summarize, the discovery of disorder-induced linear magnetoresistance allows us to explain different magnetoresistance behaviors of WTe2.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: More and more azole-resistant strains emerged through the development of acquired resistance and an epidemiological shift towards inherently less susceptible species. The mechanisms of azoles resistance of Candida albicans is very complicated. In this study, we aim to investigate the mechanism of azole-resistant C. albicans isolated from the oral cavity of a patient with chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis (CMC). CASE PRESENTATION: CMC diagnosis was given based on clinical manifestations, laboratory test findings and gene sequencing technique. Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of the fungal isolate, obtained from oral cavity termed as CA-R, was obtained by in vitro anti-fungal drugs susceptibility test. To further investigate the resistant mechanisms, we verified the mutations of drug target genes (i.e. ERG11 and ERG3) by Sanger sequencing, and verified the over-expression of ERG11 and drug efflux genes (i.e. CDR1 and CDR2) by RT-PCR. A heterozygous mutation of c.1162A > G resulting in p.K388E was detected in STAT1 of the patient. The expression of CDR1 and CDR2 in CA-R was 4.28-fold and 5.25-fold higher than that of type strain SC5314, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: Up-regulation of CDR1 and CDR2 was mainly responsible for the resistance of CA-R. For CMC or other immunodeficiency patients, drug resistance monitoring is necessary.
