RESUMEN

The Yellow-Spotted Stink Bug Erthesina fullo (Thunberg, 1783) (Pentatomomorpha: Pentatomoidea: Pentatomidae: Pentatominae: Halyini), native in East and South-East Asia, was recently discovered introduced in both Europe (Albania, 2017) and South America (Brazil: So Paulo, 2020). We report two cases of interception of living specimens in the Czech Republic. The first specimen (Zln, 2021) was found in a sealed container with shoes imported from China, the second specimen (Prague, 2023) was recieved in a parcel sent from Poland. We also present the interesting story of Erthesina fullo in Japan, where the species was introduced to Dejima Island in Nagasaki (Kyushu) already before 1775; at that time Dejima was the only place in Japan where Dutch and Chinese ships were allowed to trade during the isolationist Edo period (16031868). One old name, also proposed based on specimens originating from Japan, Cimex aloes Lichtenstein, 1796, syn. nov., is proposed a junior subjective synonym of E. fullo. The invasion of Erthesina fullo in Japan seems to be the oldest exactly localised invasion in Heteroptera. The taxonomy of Erthesina Spinola, 1837 is discussed, the genus currently includes 9 species. The genus is in urgent need of revision and the resulting problems with identification of its species, including E. fullo, are pointed out. Distribution of all Erthesina species is briefly reviewed.

RESUMEN

Three new species of the fungal-inhabiting plant bug genus Punctifulvius Schmitz, 1978 (Cylapinae: Fulviini) are described, namely P. aleksanderi n. sp. from Selangor, Malaysia, P. parvus n. sp. from East Kalimantan, Indonesia, and P. sakaerat n. sp. from Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand. The present discovery represents the first record of the genus from the Oriental Region. Punctifulvius members are now confirmed to be widespread from the cold temperate climatic zones in the eastern Palearctic regions, across the tropics of the Oriental Region, to the temperate rainforest of Australia. Punctifulvius kerzhneri Schmitz, 1978 is recorded from Taiwan for the first time. The systematic position of Teratofulvioides Carvalho & Lorenzato, 1978 is discussed, and its single species Teratofulvioides punctatus Carvalho & Lorenzato, 1978 is redescribed. Color adult habitus images of Punctifulvius aleksanderi, P. kerzhneri, P. parvus, P. sakaerat, and Teratofulvius punctatus, images of male (P. parvus and P. sakaerat) and female (P. aleksanderi) genitalic structures, as well as scanning electron micrographs of selected structures of P. aleksanderi, P. kerzhneri, P. parvus, P. sakaerat, and T. punctatus are provided. Key to the species of Punctifulvius is given.

RESUMEN

The Japanese phyline fauna is reviewed and updated; 127 species referred to 37 genera are now recognized. Eight new species in five genera, namely Eremophylus Yasunaga, Europiella Reuter Orthonotus Stephans, Pityopsallus Wagner and Psallus Fieber, are herein described as new to science. The genus Eremophylus, now considered to have a close relationship to Europiella Reuter, is proposed to be placed in the subtribe Oncotylina of the tribe Phylini, and four other genera treated herein are re-diagnosed or discussed. The female of Eremophylus hirtus Yasunaga is documented for the first time, with a detailed description of the female genitalia. Europiellomorpha Duwal is synonymized with Europiella, and eight Asian species of Pityopsallus are also transferred from Psallus Fieber. A key and checklist for all known Japanese genera are provided.

RESUMEN

The Japanese fauna of the myrmecomorphic plant bug genus Pilophorus Hahn is updated and reclassified. Seventeen species are now recognized, including three herein described as new, P. hyotan, P. satoyamanus and P. setulosellus; and P. pullulus Poppius, 1914 which is reinstated as valid and recorded from Japan for the first time. The identity of P. okamotoi Miyamoto Lee, 1966, originally described from Korean Jeju Island and previously confused with P. satoyamanus n. sp., is reconfirmed and rediagnosed. Frequently misidentified species, P. erraticus Linnavuori, 1962 P. pseudoperplexus Josifov, 1987 and P. setulosus Horváth, 1905 as well as the little known taxon, P. choii, are rediagnosed. The distribution and diagnostic features of P. typicus (Distant, 1909) are presented in light of the recognition of P. hyotan n. sp. An updated checklist and a key to genera and species of the tribe Pilophorini are provided to aid in unequivocal identification of every Japanese pilophorine taxon. A new species of Pherolepis Kulik from Kyushu, P. hizenicus, is also described.

RESUMEN

A new species of the anthocorid genus Orius Wolff (subgenus Heterorius Wagner), O. (H.) hibiscus sp. n., is described, based on specimens recently found from the coastal area of Okinawa Island, Ryukyus, Japan. This new species, evidently most related to Orius (Heterorius) strigicollis (Poppius), was found to prefer cryptic habitat, or bract and flower bud of Hibiscus tiliaceus (L.) (Malvaceae) planted at urbanized zones in Naha City. Diagnostic characters of the new species are described, comparing with those of other Japanese members of Heterorius, based on detailed observation using a SEM. An updated checklist and revised key are provided to aid in identification of all known Japanese Orius species.

RESUMEN

A long neglected plant bug genus Babacoris Miyamoto, 1994 (Mirinae: Mirini), proposed for a single Taiwanese species, B. striatus Miyamoto, is redefined and redescribed as a valid genus, based on recent rediscovery of the type species from Hengchun, Taiwan; the neotype is designated for B. striatus. The genus is now presumed to be closely related to Paramiridius Miyamoto Yasunaga which also has been poorly known since the original description. A species recently described from Laos, Babacoris laomontanus (Oh, Yasunaga Lee) comb. n., is transferred from Paramiridius. An updated checklist of the tribe Mirini in Taiwan is incorporated, with proposition of a new combination, Adelphocorisella minutum (Poppius) comb. n., having been left in Megacoelum Fieber as incertae sedis.

RESUMEN

Fulvius Stål (Cylapinae: Fulviini) is a large plant bug genus, with more than 80 described species distributed throughout the world (Schuh, 1995; 2002-2014). In Japan, five species listed below have been recorded mostly from the subtropical Ryukyu arc (Yasunaga, 2000, 2001; Yasunaga & Miyamoto, 2006; Yasunaga et al., 2012). Our recent closer examinations of these Japanese species suggest that (1) what was previously identified as Fulvius dimidiatus Poppius represents an undescribed species, and (2) F. nakatai Yasunaga & Miyamoto described from Okinawa Island is evidently conspecific with F. subnitens Poppius that was described from New Guinea but is now known from pantropical zones as well as Taiwan, Europe and United States (Gorczyca, 2006; Henry et al., 2011). The present paper provides a revised checklist for the Japanese species of Fulvius, with updated distributional records. A new species, F. nozawai, is diagnosed and described, its habitat and biology are also documented, and Fulvius nakatai is proposed as a junior synonym of the pantropical F. subnitens.

RESUMEN

Species of the Old World mirine plant bug genus Eurystylus Stål (the Head Bugs) in Japan and Taiwan are reviewed. Four species are currently recognized. Two new species are diagnosed and described: E. ryukyus n. sp. (from SW Japan and Taiwan) and E. jingfui n. sp. (Taiwan). Two known species, E. coelestialium (Kirkaldy) and E. sauteri Poppius, are diagnosed; new distributional records are added for the latter. Two keys are provided to aid the identifications of (1) Eurystylus and four related genera and (2) the species of Eurystylus known from Japan and Taiwan. The phylogenetic relationships of Eurystylus with the assumed related genera are discussed. Eurystylomorpha Poppius is synonymized with Eurystylopsis Poppius, and a new combination, Eurystylopsis crassicornis (Poppius), is accordingly proposed.

RESUMEN

The fauna of plant bug subfamily Isometopinae in Taiwan and Japanese Southwest (Nansei) Islands is reviewed. Twenty-five species are recognized, including two new species of Myiomma Puton, M. austroccidens sp. nov. and M. kentingense sp. nov., which are herein diagnosed and described. In addition, Isometopus yehi Lin, 2004 is synonymized with I. bipunctatus Lin; Isometopidea yangi Lin is transferred to Kohnometopus; and a substitute name, Alcecoris linyangorum, is proposed for A. formosanus (Lin Yang) (= a junior secondary homonym of Alcecoris formosanus Lin). An annotated checklist, with updated distributional record and biological information, is provided for all treated taxa. A new tribe Sophianini is proposed for two genera, Alcecoris and Sophianus, characterized principally by the conspicuously modified antennal structures. An additional new species, Alcecoris cochlearatus sp. nov., found during examination of related Oriental specimens, is described from the Malay Peninsula.
