RESUMEN
ABSTRACT: 68 Ga-prostate specific membrane antigen (PSMA) PET/CT scan for staging revealed increased 68 Ga-PSMA uptake in solar elastosis in a patient with prostate cancer. Solar elastosis is a degenerative condition of elastic tissue in the dermis caused by prolonged sun exposure. A few studies have demonstrated 68 Ga-PSMA uptake in cutaneous lesions. This case illustrates another instance of a benign cutaneous lesion accompanied by increased 68 Ga-PSMA uptake.

Kindler syndrome (KS) was first described by Theresa Kindler in 1954, and since then > 60 pathogenic variants have been identified in the FERMT1 gene for KS. Most FERMT1 variants associated with KS are null variants. We present the case of a child with poikilodermic changes on the forehead and cheeks, who was found to have a homozygous c.1676G>A mutation. To our knowledge, this is the first report of this mutation in a family with KS.

The objective of our study was to determine thiol/disulphide homeostasis in recurrent aphtous stomatitis (RAS) patients. A prospective monocentric study was designed. Forty-three recurrent aphtous stomatitis patients and 43 healthy subjects were included to study. Venous blood samples collected and assessed with novel automatic system. Results compared statistically. Disulphide levels were found significantly higher in RAS patients than control group. There was no significant difference between native thiol and total thiol levels. Thiol/disulphide homeostasis is impaired in RAS patients in favor of disulphide levels compared with control group. To the best of our knowledge, the present study is the first examination on the correlation between thiol and disulfide homeostasis in patients with RAS.

As the first dermatological biological treatment, infliximab was first used in the treatment of psoriasis in 2001. Since that time many biological agents have come into use for dermatological diseases and developments in this area are still ongoing. The most important feature of biological treatments is that the treatment must be target directed. In the light of technological developments, the concept has emerged of treatment directed to a patient-specific target.

PURPOSE: Oral isotretinoin (13-cis retinoic acid, 13-cis RA) was approved for severe acne treatment by the FDA in 1982. The ocular side effects associated with oral isotretinoin use are mostly dose-dependent. Numerous ocular pathologies affect peripapillary choroidal layer primarily or indirectly. OBJECTIVE: Evaluation of the peripapillary choroidal layer in the patients receiving oral isotretinoin therapy may aid in explaining the pathophysiology of ocular side effects. METHODS: In this study, peripapillary choroidal thickness was assessed in the patients receiving oral isotretinoin treatment via optical coherent tomography technique. RESULTS: Significant difference was found in the superotemporal and temporal areas. CONCLUSION: Oral isotretinoin treatment may affect the thickness of the peripapillary choroidal layer.
