RESUMEN

Objective:To evaluate the value of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission computed tomography ( 18F-FDG PET/CT) myocardial metabolic image quality by the ratio of the maximum standard uptake value (M/B) of left ventricular myocardium to cardiac blood pool. Methods:The clinical data of 145 non diabetes patients with coronary heart disease who were admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University from January 2016 to August 2022 were retrospectively selected. All patients received intravenous injection of 18F-FDG for myocardial glucose metabolism imaging. According to the visual (qualitative) analysis, the image was divided into three categories: the best, the second best and the worst. Group A was the best image quality group, while Group B was the second best and the worst image quality group. The left ventricular myocardium, cardiac blood pool and descending aorta were semi-quantitatively analyzed, and M/B was calculated. Results:All 145 patients underwent image fusion analysis. Image visual (qualitative) analysis showed that the myocardial metabolic image quality of 111 patients was evaluated as the best (111 patients in Group A), 19 patients as the second best, and 15 patients as the worst (34 patients in Group B). The SUVmax value of the descending aorta in the two groups was lower than that of the left ventricle, with statistically significant difference (all P<0.05). The M/B value of group A was higher than that of group B, with statistically significant difference ( P<0.05). Conclusions:For the evaluation of image quality and the reliability of image interpretation, M/B value may be a good evaluation index, which reduces the interference of image quality evaluation due to high 18F-FDG uptake in some heart blood pools (background), and improves the accuracy of evaluation of myocardial viability.

The value of dual imaging mode for the severity assessment of Parkinson disease (PD) is explored by conducting positron emission tomography computed tomography (PET/CT) double imaging using combined 18-fluorine flurodeoxyglucose (F-FDG) brain metabolism and 11C-2ß-carbomethoxy-3ß-(4-fluorophenyl) tropane (C-CFT) brain dopamine transporter (DAT).A total of 102 patients with PD and 50 healthy people in the control group are enrolled for the PET/CT dual imaging of F-FDG brain metabolism and C-CFT brain DAT. The characteristics of F-FDG PET/CT and C-CFT PET/CT imaging are analyzed by delineating the region of interest. Differences in the glucose metabolism and DAT distribution in the basal ganglia of patients with PD and healthy control group in the PET/CT imaging and the radioactive distribution characteristics of cerebral cortex in glucose metabolism imaging are compared. The characteristics of PET/CT imaging of C-CFT brain DAT in the ganglion region in absorbing C-CFT in different PD groups are analyzed.Compared with the healthy control group, changes in the cerebral glucose metabolism in the PD group mainly occur due to the increased symmetry metabolism of the nucleus of bilateral basal ganglia and the decreased metabolism of the cerebral cortex as shown in the F-FDG PET/CT images. With disease progression, the bilateral parietal, frontal, temporal, and occipital leaves showed different degrees of FDG metabolism. Statistically significant difference is observed for theC-CFT absorption among the caudate nucleus and the anterior, middle, and posterior nuclei of the bilateral basal ganglia of the PD and healthy control groups. In the PD group, the bilateral caudate nucleus and the anterior, middle, and posterior parts of the putamen show decreased DAT distribution. Regardless of unilateral or bilateral symptoms, the DAT distribution in the nucleus of the contralateral basal ganglia and in the posterior part of the nucleus is substantially reduced.PET/CT dual imaging by F-FDG PET/CT combined with C-CFT PET/CT features high application value for the severity assessment of PD.

This study aims to analyze the characteristics of F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (F-FDG PET/CT) for cerebral alveolar echinococcosis (CAE).Twenty-five CAE patients underwent F-FDG PET/CT, and the diagnosis was confirmed by clinical and surgical pathology. The F-FDG PET/CT results were subject to visual and semiquantitative analysis, and the difference in F-FDG SUVmax for lesions among the 3 types of CAE was evaluated.In the 25 CAE patients, 62 lesions were detected by F-FDG PET/CT, and these lesions were classified into 3 types, according to the characteristics of the lesion's uptake of F-FDG on PET images: type I, 17 lesions, FDG was concentrated into a mass radioactive distribution in the CAE foci; type II, 28 lesions, FDG presented a annular concentrated radioactive distribution around the CAE foci; type III, 17 lesions, FDG in the CAE foci presented a radioactive distribution with defects and sparse areas. The difference in F-FDG SUVmax between type I and type II CAE was not statistically significant (P > .05), the difference in F-FDG SUVmax between type I and type III CAE was statistically significant (P < .001), and the difference in F-FDG SUVmax between type II and type III CAE was statistically significant (P < .001);The F-FDG PET manifestations of CAE are classified into 3 types. Both type I and type II may have invasive activity, while the lesions of type III CAE show that the focus is relatively stable or at a stationary phase. If there are no definite alveolar echinococcus focus in other sites, these patients can temporarily delay the treatment. It is recommended that the patient should undergo whole body PET/CT once a year to dynamically observe the bioactivity and size of type III CAE lesions and assess the presence of new echinococcus lesions in the rest of the body.
