RESUMEN

Objective: To explore the potential value of gadolinium-ethoxybenzyl-diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid (Gd-EOB-DTPA) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in LR-3/4 lesions by adding computed tomography (CT) delayed images based on the Liver Imaging Reporting And Data System (LI-RADS). Methods: The differences in clinical and imaging characteristics between hepatocellular carcinoma and non-HCC were compared, and logistic regression was used to analyze the imaging risk factors for the diagnosis of HCC. Based on the main and HCC-specific auxiliary features of Gd-EOB-DTPA MRI, the HCC diagnostic model 1 was established, and the diagnostic efficacy was analyzed. Based on model 1, delayed phase CT images were added to establish model 2 to find reliable predictors of HCC diagnosis. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis and the DeLong test were used to compare the two models. Results: There was a significant difference in serum AFP between HCC and non-HCC (P = 0.008). Based on main and HCC-specific auxiliary features of Gd-EOB-DTPA MRI, enhancing capsule (OR = 0.197, 95% CI = 0.06-0.595, P = 0.005) and washout (OR = 10.345, 95% CI = 3.460-30.930, P < 0.001) were independent risk factors in Model 1. After adding CT delayed-phase images to build model 2, enhancing capsule (OR = 0.132, 95% CI = 0.139-0.449, P = 0.001), MRI and (or) CT washout (OR = 0.052, 95% CI = 0.016-0.172, P < 0.001) were reliable predictors for HCC diagnosis. The AUC of model 1 was 0.808, sensitivity was 63.46%, and specificity was 85.00%. The AUC of model 2 was 0.854, the sensitivity was 71.20%, and the specificity was 85.00%. DeLong test (P = 0.040) demonstrated the diagnostic efficacy of model 2 significantly superior than model 1. Conclusion: Tumor washout and enhanced capsule are reliable factors for the diagnosis of HCC. Gd-EOB-DTPA MRI with delayed phase CT images can improve the sensitivity and diagnostic efficiency of HCC in LR-3/4 lesions on the premise of maintaining high specificity. Future studies are required to reinforce our finding.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE@#The mode of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) transmission via injection drug use (IDU) still exists, and the recent shift in IDU-related transmission of HIV infection is largely unknown. The purpose of this study was to analyze the spatiotemporal sources and dynamics of HIV-1 transmission through IDU in Guangxi.@*METHODS@#We performed a molecular epidemiological investigation of infections across Guangxi from 2009 to 2019. Phylogenetic and Bayesian time-geographic analyses of HIV-1 sequences were performed to confirm the characteristics of transmission between IDUs in combination with epidemiological data.@*RESULTS@#Among the 535 subjects, CRF08_BC (57.4%), CRF01_AE (28.4%), and CRF07_BC (10.7%) were the top 3 HIV strains; 72.6% of infections were linked to other provinces in the transmission network; 93.6% of sequence-transmitted strains were locally endemic, with the rest coming from other provinces, predominantly Guangdong and Yunnan; 92.1% of the HIV transmission among people who inject drugs tended to be transmitted between HIV-positive IDUs.@*CONCLUSION@#HIV recombinants were high diversity, and circulating local strains were the transmission sources among IDUs in Guangxi. However, there were still cases of IDUs linked to other provinces. Coverage of traditional prevention strategies should be expanded, and inter-provincial collaboration between Guangxi, Yunnan, and Guangdong provinces should be strengthened.

RESUMEN

To explore the changes of cold sensitivity after exposure to acute hypoxia and its mechanisms, Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into normoxia control group (21% O2, 25 °C), 10% O2 hypoxia group (10% O2, 25 °C), 7% O2 hypoxia group (7% O2, 25 °C), normoxia cold group (21% O2, 10 °C) and hypoxia cold group (7% O2, 10 °C). Cold foot withdrawal latency and preference temperature of each group were measured, skin temperatures were estimated using an infrared thermographic imaging camera, body core temperature was recorded by wireless telemetry system, immunohistochemical staining was used to detect the expression of c-Fos in the lateral parabrachial nucleus (LPB). The results showed that acute hypoxia significantly prolonged the latency of cold foot withdrawal and significantly enhanced the intensity of cold stimulation for foot withdrawal, and the rats under hypoxia preferred cold temperature. Cold exposure (10 °C) for 1 h significantly enhanced the expression of c-Fos in LPB of rats in normoxia, while hypoxia inhibited cold-induced c-Fos expression. Acute hypoxia significantly increased the skin temperature of feet and tails, decreased the skin temperature of interscapular region, and decreased the body core temperature of rats. These results indicate that acute hypoxia can significantly blunt cold sensitivity through the inhibition of LPB, suggesting actively keeping warm measures should be taken at the early stage after ascent to high altitude to prevent the upper respiratory infection and acute mountain sickness.

RESUMEN

Professor HAN Wei 's clinical experience of acupuncture and moxibustion with Tongyang Xingshen (promoting yang and regaining consciousness) for adolescent depressive disorder is introduced. It is believed that the internal causes of adolescent depressive disorder are mostly emotional and physical factors, while the external causes are mainly social factors, and yang-qi stagnation and emotional disorder are the key pathogenesis. The key of acupuncture and moxibustion with Tongyang Xingshen is warming and regulating the governor vessel. The governor vessel acupoints at head, neck and back are selected. At head, Baihui (GV 20) and Yintang (GV 24+) are selected; at neck, Fengfu (GV 16) and Dazhui (GV 14) are selected; at back, Taodao (GV 13), Shenzhu (GV 12), Shendao (GV 11), Zhiyang (GV 9) and Jinsuo (GV 8) are selected. The combination of disease differentiation and syndrome differentiation should be highly valued, and the moxibustion with Tongyang and acupuncture with Xingshen should be used simultaneously, and the strong stimulation is suggested.

RESUMEN

Previous studies have shown that hepatitis E virus (HEV) infection in pregnancy can cause liver failure and adverse pregnancy outcomes such as miscarriage, stillbirth, and vertical transmission, especially in countries where HEV genotypes 1 and 2 are prevalent. In recent years, HEV infection in China is sporadic and is mainly caused by HEV genotype 4, and although studies have shown that most pregnant women with HEV infection in China have no signfinicant clinical symptoms, there is still a high incidence rate of adverse pregnancy outcomes. This article reviews the recent studies on HEV infection in pregnancy, including the advances in pathogenesis, epidemiology, prognosis, mechanism of severe exacerbation, treatment, and prognosis, and puts forward recommendations for the screening and evaluation of HEV infection in pregnancy.

RESUMEN

Protein corona (PC) has been identified to impede the transportation of intravenously injected nanoparticles (NPs) from blood circulation to their targeted sites. However, how intestinal PC (IPC) affects the delivery of orally administered NPs are still needed to be elucidated. Here, we found that IPC exerted "positive effect" or "negative effect" depending on different pathological conditions in the gastrointestinal tract. We prepared polystyrene nanoparticles (PS) adsorbed with different IPC derived from the intestinal tract of healthy, diabetic, and colitis rats (H-IPC@PS, D-IPC@PS, C-IPC@PS). Proteomics analysis revealed that, compared with healthy IPC, the two disease-specific IPC consisted of a higher proportion of proteins that were closely correlated with transepithelial transport across the intestine. Consequently, both D-IPC@PS and C-IPC@PS mainly exploited the recycling endosome and ER-Golgi mediated secretory routes for intracellular trafficking, which increased the transcytosis from the epithelium. Together, disease-specific IPC endowed NPs with higher intestinal absorption. D-IPC@PS posed "positive effect" on intestinal absorption into blood circulation for diabetic therapy. Conversely, C-IPC@PS had "negative effect" on colitis treatment because of unfavorable absorption in the intestine before arriving colon. These results imply that different or even opposite strategies to modulate the disease-specific IPC need to be adopted for oral nanomedicine in the treatment of variable diseases.

RESUMEN

As known, the benefits of photothermal therapy (PTT) are greatly limited by the heat tolerance of cancer cells resulting from overexpressed heat shock proteins (HSPs). Then HSPs further trigger the formation of stress granules (SGs) that regulate protein expression and cell viability under various stress conditions. Inhibition of SG formation can sensitize tumor cells to PTT. Herein, we developed PEGylated pH (low) insertion peptide (PEG-pHLIP)-modified hollow copper sulfide nanoparticles (HCuS NPs) encapsulating the SG inhibitor ISRIB, with the phase-change material lauric acid (LA) as a gate-keeper, to construct a pH-driven and NIR photo-responsive controlled smart drug delivery system (IL@H-PP). The nanomedicine could specifically target slightly acidic tumor sites. Upon irradiation, IL@H-PP realized PTT, and the light-controlled release of ISRIB could effectively inhibit the formation of PTT-induced SG to sensitize tumor cells to PTT, thereby increasing the antitumor effect and inducing potent immunogenic cell death (ICD). Moreover, IL@H-PP could promote the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) by tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs), repolarizing them towards the M1 phenotype and remodeling the immunosuppressive microenvironment. In vitro/vivo results revealed the potential of PTT combined with SG inhibitors, which provides a new paradigm for antitumor and anti-metastases.

RESUMEN

Liver cirrhosis is a common chronic liver disease in clinical practice, and the main causes of this disease include virus, alcohol, and immunity. Patients may experience a variety of complications in the late stage of liver cirrhosis, including upper gastrointestinal bleeding, hepatic encephalopathy, hepatorenal syndrome, and liver cancer, among which upper gastrointestinal bleeding is the main cause of death, and therefore, the control and prevention of upper gastrointestinal bleeding caused by liver cirrhosis is the key to reducing mortality rate and prolonging survival time. This article summarizes the commonly used minimally invasive methods for the treatment of upper gastrointestinal bleeding in liver cirrhosis and analyzes the indications for different treatment methods and related advances, so as to provide a reference for clinicians to choose the most suitable treatment regimen for the patient, thereby improving the survival rate of patients.

RESUMEN

Objective: To explore the role of transient elastography technology in the assessment of disease staging and treatment in patients with chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. Methods: Patients who were clinically diagnosed with chronic HBV infection at Beijing Tsinghua Changgung Hospital from January 2018 to December 2021 was collected. Liver stiffness measurement (LSM) examination was performed more than once by transient elastography. The count data were expressed as cases (%) and the χ (2) test was made. Fisher's exact test was used with theoretical frequency less than 5. The measurement data between two groups was compared by t-test. Multiple groups were compared with an analysis of variance. Results: 1 055 patients were included in this study, including 669 (63.4%) males and 386 (36.6%) females. 757 (71.8%) patients were untreated. Among the untreated patients, the LSM value in the immune clearance (10.2 ± 3.8) kPa (187 cases, 40.4%), and the reactivation stages (9.1 ± 3.4) kPa (114 cases, 24.6%) was significantly higher than that in the immune tolerance (8.7 ± 3.6) kPa (78 cases, 16.8%) and immune control stages (8.4 ± 3.5) KPa (84 cases, 18.1%), and the difference between the four groups was statistically significant (F = 5.31 and P = 0.03). With ALT (male: 30 U/L, female: 19 U/L) as defined the normal value, the LSM value in the immune tolerance and the immune control stages were (5.8 ± 0.9) kPa and (7.1 ± 2.5) kPa, respectively, which were significantly lower than those of patients in the immune tolerance and immune control stages, and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.01). There were 294 (38.8%) patients with uncertain period, excluding patients with fatty liver. Patients with uncertain periods were divided into four gray zone (GZ) groups: immune tolerance stage: LSM (5.1 ± 1.3) kPa was significantly lower than GZ-A (6.5 ± 2.4) kPa, t = 2.06, P = 0.03, and the difference was statistically significant; immune control stage: LSM was (5.6 ± 1.5) kPa, which was also lower than GZ-C (6.8 ± 1.3) kPa, t = 3.08, P = 0.02, and the difference was statistically significant; immune clearance stage: LSM > 8.0 kPa. LSM values showed a year-by-year reduction in patients with expanded indications who started antiviral treatment and were followed up for three years. Conclusion: The LSM value is significantly lower after the decrease of the defined high-normal ALT value in patients with the immune tolerance and immune control stages of chronic HBV infection. The LSM values of GZ-A and GZ-C in the uncertain periods of chronic HBV infection are higher than those of patients in the immune tolerance and immune control stages.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE@#To explore the therapeutic effect of multiple small diameter drilling combined with extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) under C-arm X-raylocalization in patients with early osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH).@*METHODS@#A total of 106 cases of early ONFH patients admitted from May 2015 to May 2017 were retrospectively selected as the study subjects. According to different treatment methods, the patients were divided into observation group and control group, 53 cases in each group. The observation group was treated with multiple small-diameter drilling combined with ESWT under C-arm positioning in the observation group, including 41 males and 12 females with an age of (45.85±6.01) years old (22 to 70 years old);and the control group was treated with ESWT, including 34 males and 19 females with an age of (45.12±5.83) years old(20 to 68 years old) in the control group. The modified Harris hip scores(mHHS), visual analog scale(VAS), hip flexion range, hip abduction and adduction range, ONFH area ratio and clinical efficacy were compared between twe groups before and after treatment. Kaplan-Meier method was used to draw a survival curve to compare the femoral head survival rate between two groups during the 3-year follow-up period after treatment.@*RESULTS@#There were no complications such as poor wound healing and infection. All of 106 patients were followed up for 28 to 36 months with an average of (31.06±4.28) months. MHHS score, hip flexion range and hip abduction and adduction range in the observation group were increased from (63.85±5.42) scores, (23.79±2.21) °, (32.40±4.19) ° before treatment to (85.51±5.69) scores, (34.65±2.73)°, (43.32±5.71)° at 2 years after treatment, respectively(P<0.05). The above indicators in the control group increased from (64.73±5.64)°, (23.82±2.18)°, (32.45±4.13)° before treatment to (81.65±5.48) scores, (32.79±2.87)°, (39.75±5.68)°at two years after treatment, respectively(P<0.05). VAS score and ONFH area ratio in the observation group decreased from (5.76±1.41) scores and (35.07±4.96)% before treatment to (3.39±1.02) scores and (22.04±3.23)% at 2 years after treatment, respectively(P<0.05). The above indicatiors in control group decreased from (5.73±1.45) scores and (35.24±5.18)% before treatment to (4.43±1.21) scores and (28.32±3.76)% at 2 years after treatment, respectively(P<0.05), and the improvement in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05). At 3 years after treatment, the femoral head survival rate in the observation group was higher than that in the control group (P<0.05).@*CONCLUSION@#Multiple small diameter drilling combined with ESWT under C-arm positioning can significantly improve the clinical symptoms of patients with early ONFH, relieve pain and improve clinical efficacy.

RESUMEN

Background@#and Purpose The relationships among interleukin (IL)-10 levels, anxiety, and cognitive status after stroke remain controversial. We aimed to determine the associations of serum IL-10 levels with poststroke anxiety (PSA) and poststroke cognitive impairment (PSCI). @*Methods@#We recruited 350 patients with stroke, of whom only 151 completed a 1-month follow-up assessment. The Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) and Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA) were used to assess the cognitive status and anxiety, respectively. Serum IL-10 levels were measured within 24 hours of admission. @*Results@#IL-10 levels were significantly lower in the PSA group than in the non-PSA group, and they were negatively associated with HAMA scores (r=-0.371, p<0.001). After adjusting for all potential confounders, IL-10 levels remained an independent predictor of PSA (odds ratio=0.471, 95% confidence interval=0.237–0.936, p=0.032). IL-10 levels were strongly correlated with behavior during interviews, psychic anxiety, and somatic anxiety. Patients without PSCI had higher IL-10 levels were higher in non-PSCI patients than in PSCI patients, and they were positively associated with MMSE scores in the bivariate correlation analysis (r=0.169, p=0.038), and also with memory capacity, naming ability, and copying capacity. However, IL-10 did not predict PSCI in the univariable or multivariable logistic regression. @*Conclusions@#Low IL-10 levels were associated with increased risks of PSA and PSCI at a 1-month follow-up after stroke. Serum IL-10 levels may therefore be helpful in predicting PSA.

RESUMEN

Intelligent responsive drug delivery system opens up new avenues for realizing safer and more effective combination immunotherapy. Herein, a kind of tumor cascade-targeted responsive liposome (NLG919@Lip-pep1) is developed by conjugating polypeptide inhibitor of PD-1 signal pathway (AUNP-12), which is also a targeted peptide that conjugated with liposome carrier through matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) cleavable peptide (GPLGVRGD). This targeted liposome is prepared through a mature preparation process, and indoleamine-2,3-dioxygenase (IDO) inhibitor NLG919 was encapsulated into it. Moreover, mediated by the enhanced permeability and retention effect (EPR effect) and AUNP-12, NLG919@Lip-pep1 first targets the cells that highly express PD-L1 in tumor tissues. At the same time, the over-expressed MMP-2 in the tumor site triggers the dissociation of AUNP-12, thus realizing the precise block of PD-1 signal pathway, and restoring the activity of T cells. The exposure of secondary targeting module II VRGDC-NLG919@Lip mediated tumor cells targeting, and further relieved the immunosuppressive microenvironment. Overall, this study offers a potentially appealing paradigm of a high efficiency, low toxicity, and simple intelligent responsive drug delivery system for targeted drug delivery in breast cancer, which can effectively rescue and activate the body's anti-tumor immune response and furthermore achieve effective treatment of metastatic breast cancer.

RESUMEN

Objective To investigate the rare genotypes and mutation frequency of thalassemia in Laibin area of Guangxi , to intervene the birth of children with moderate or severe thalassemia, and to better guide the genetic diagnosis and prenatal diagnosis. Methods A total of 282 patients of hematological phenotypes inconsistent with genotypes in Laibin City (four counties, one city and one district) were tested for rare genotypes. Results A total of 50 cases were found to carry rare thalassemia gene mutations, including 23 cases of β-globin gene mutation containing 9 types of mutations, and 27 cases of α-globin gene mutation containing 7 types of mutations. There were 4 homotypic thalassemia couples with one party carrying rare thalassemia gene mutation. After prenatal diagnosis, one case was found to be a rare mutation carrier , two cases to be a double heterozygote, and one case to be a common mutation carrier. Conclusion The data of thalassemia genotype spectrum in Laibin , Guangxi. It is suggested that when the hematological phenotype is not consistent with the genotype , it should be detected by other molecular techniques to avoid the birth of children with moderate or severe thalassemia, which is also helpful for clinical diagnosis and treatment guidance, population screening and genetic counseling.

RESUMEN

The mortality rate of cardiovascular disease ranks first in the world. Its pathogenesis involves not only internal factors such as immunity, inflammation, metabolic disorders, and self-development but also external factors such as the environment. In the last decade, the emergence of single-cell technology has greatly promoted the development of disease research. Among them, the more mature single-cell RNA sequencing can carry out high-throughput analysis of single cells while studying with single-cell resolution. This technology enables people to characterize the heterogeneity of single cells, identify rare cell types in heart and blood vessels, and construct human heart cell map. With the data analysis of bioinformatics experts, it can also reconstruct the development track of the heart, to construct a map of heart development. Single-cell sequencing plays an important role in analyzing the human physiological structure and disease progression due to its advantages of single-cell resolution. The possibility of combining other omics technologies is proposed by summarizing the existing application examples and advanced technologies like spatial transcriptome. In this review, we summarize the current single-cell sequencing technologies (plate-based and droplet-based) and describe the data analysis process. The latest findings in cardiovascular disease using single-cell RNA sequencing technology are described. Finally, we discussed the shortcomings of single-cell RNA sequencing technology. At the same time, the possibility of the combination of single-cell RNA sequencing and spatial omics technology, and how to apply it to the study of cardiovascular diseases is discussed.

RESUMEN

Pneumonia and pulmonary edema are the most common causes of acute respiratory failure in emergency and intensive care. Airway maintenance and heart function preservation are two foundations for resuscitation. Laboratory examinations have been utilized for clinicians to early differentiate pneumonia and pulmonary edema; however, none can provide results as prompt as radiology examinations, such as portable chest X-ray (CXR), which can quickly deliver results without mobilizing patients. However, similar features between pneumonia and pulmonary edema are found in CXR. It remains challenging for Emergency Department (ED) physicians to make immediate decisions as radiologists cannot be on-site all the time and provide support. Thus, Accurate interpretation of images remains challenging in the emergency setting. References have shown that deep convolutional neural networks (CNN) have a high sensitivity in CXR readings. In this retrospective study, we collected the CXR images of patients over 65 hospitalized with pneumonia or pulmonary edema diagnosis between 2016 and 2020. After using the ICD-10 codes to select qualified patient records and removing the duplicated ones, we used keywords to label the image reports found in the electronic medical record (EMR) system. After that, we categorized their CXR images into five categories: positive correlation, negative correlation, no correlation, low correlation, and high correlation. Subcategorization was also performed to better differentiate characteristics. We applied six experiments includes the crop interference and non-interference categories by GoogLeNet and applied three times of validations. In our best model, the F1 scores for pneumonia and pulmonary edema are 0.835 and 0.829, respectively; accuracy rate: 83.2%, Recall rate: 83.2%, positive predictive value: 83.3%, and F1 Score: 0.832. After the validation, the best accuracy rate of our model can reach up to 73%. The model has a high negative predictive value of excluding pulmonary edema, meaning the CXR shows no sign of pulmonary edema. At the time, there was a high positive predictive value in pneumonia. In that way, we could use it as a clinical decision support (CDS) system to rule out pulmonary edema and rule in pneumonia contributing to the critical care of the elderly.

RESUMEN

Spodoptera frugiperda (fall armyworm) is a member of the superfamily Noctuoidea that accounts for more than a third of all Lepidoptera and includes a considerable number of agricultural and forest pest species. Spodoptera frugiperda is a polyphagous species that is a significant agricultural pest worldwide, emphasizing its economic importance. Spodoptera frugiperda's genome size, assembly, phylogenetic classification, and transcriptome analysis have all been previously described. However, the different studies reported different compositions of repeated DNA sequences that occupied the whole assembled genome, and the Spodoptera frugiperda genome also lacks the comprehensive study of dynamic satellite DNA. We conducted a comparative analysis of repetitive DNA across geographically distant populations of Spodoptera frugiperda, particularly satellite DNA, using publicly accessible raw genome data from eight different geographical regions. Our results showed that most transposable elements (TEs) were commonly shared across all geographically distant samples, except for the Maverick and PIF/Harbinger elements, which have divergent repeat copies. The TEs age analysis revealed that most TEs families consist of young copies 1-15 million years old; however, PIF/Harbinger has some older/degenerated copies of 30-35 million years old. A total of seven satellite DNA families were discovered, accounting for approximately 0.65% of the entire genome of the Spodoptera frugiperda fall armyworm. The repeat profiling analysis of satellite DNA families revealed differential read depth coverage or copy numbers. The satellite DNA families range in size from the lowest 108 bp SfrSat06-108 families to the largest (1824 bp) SfrSat07-1824 family. We did not observe a statistically significant correlation between monomer length and K2P divergence, copy number, or abundance of each satellite family. Our findings suggest that the satellite DNA families identified in Spodoptera frugiperda account for a considerable proportion of the genome's repetitive fraction. The satellite DNA families' repeat profiling revealed a point mutation along the reference sequences. RESUMEN

Objective: To investigate the influence of HBsAg expression in peritumoral tissue of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients on their postoperative recurrence. Methods: The HCC patients treated in Shanghai Eastern Hepatobiliary Surgery Hospital from October 2009 to August 2010 were selected. The clinicopathological data and adjacent tissues of 718 patients were collected, and dextran polymer immunohistochemical staining was used to detect the expression of HBsAg in adjacent tissues. According to the expression of HBsAg in adjacent tissues, the tissues were divided into HBsAg positive group and HBsAg negative group. Kaplan-Meier method and Log rank test were used for survival analysis, and Cox regression model was used for multivariate analysis. Results: Among the 718 patients in the whole group, 153 were HBsAg negative and 565 were HBsAg positive. There was a statistically significant difference in serum HBV DNA level between HBsAg-positive and HBsAg-negative patients (P<0.001). The number of patients with serum DNA≥2 000 IU/ml and<2 000 IU/ml in HBsAg negative group were 52 and 93, while the patients in HBsAg positive group were 325 and 205. The cumulative recurrence rates of all patients at 1, 3, and 5 years after surgery were 30.2%, 54.3%, and 62.7%, respectively. The expression of HBsAg was related to the recurrence (P=0.038). Multivariate analysis showed that γ-GT, PT, multiple tumors, tumor length, and portal vein invasion were independent risk factors for recurrence of HCC (P<0.05). In HBeAg-negative patients with low viral load (HBV DNA <2 000 IU/ml) and without cirrhosis, the recurrence rates of HBsAg-positive patients were 14.3% and 31.0% at 3 and 5 years, respectively, compared with HBsAg negative patients (all 0), the difference was statistically significant (P=0.021). Conclusion: The positive expression of HBsAg in peritumoral tissue increases the postoperative recurrence risk of HCC patients.
