RESUMEN

Photolithography is a well-established fabrication method for realizing multilayer electronic circuits. However, it is challenging to adopt photolithography to fabricate intrinsically stretchable multilayer electronic circuits fully composed of an elastomeric matrix, due to the opacity of thick stretchable nanocomposite conductors. Here, we present photothermal lithography that can pattern elastomeric conductors and via holes using pulsed lasers. The photothermal-patterned stretchable nanocomposite conductor exhibits 3 times higher conductivity (5940 S cm-1) and 5 orders of magnitude lower resistance change (R/R0 = 40) under a 30% strained 5000th cyclic stretch, compared to those of a screen-printed conductor, based on the percolation network formed by spatial heating of the laser. In addition, a 50 µm sized stretchable via holes can be patterned on the passivation without material ablation and electrical degradation of the bottom conductor. By repeatedly patterning the conductor and via holes, highly conductive and durable multilayer circuits can be stacked with layer-by-layer material integration. Finally, a stretchable wireless pressure sensor and passive matrix LED array are demonstrated, thus showing the potential for a stretchable multilayer electronic circuit with durability, high density, and multifunctionality.

RESUMEN

We evaluated the immune response against the Omicron variant after mRNA-based COVID-19 booster vaccination in medical students. We prospectively enrolled medical students who received two primary doses of the mRNA-1273 vaccine. The neutralizing response and the SARS-CoV-2-specific T-cell response was evaluated. A total of 56 serum samples were obtained before booster vaccination. Nineteen students (33.9%) developed COVID-19 two months after booster vaccination. Of 56 students, 35 students (12 infected and 23 uninfected) were available for blood sampling four months after booster vaccination. In comparison with uninfected students, infected students showed a significantly higher level of SARS-CoV-2-specific IgG (5.23 AU/mL vs. 5.12 AU/mL, p < 0.001) and rate of neutralizing response (96.22% vs. 27.18%, p < 0.001) four months after booster vaccination. There was no significant difference in the SARS-CoV-2-specific T-cell response. Among 23 infection-naive students, the neutralizing response was significantly higher in those who received the mRNA-1273 booster than in those who received the BNT162b2 booster (69.07% vs. 26.43%, p = 0.02). In our study, booster vaccination with mRNA-1273 instead of BNT162b2 was significantly associated with a higher neutralizing response.

RESUMEN

The objective of this study is to evaluate the catalytic potential of Pt/MMZ-FER catalysts in hydroisomerization of long chain hydrocarbon. MMZ-FER, a nanoporous material produced from commercial ferrierite, was used as a support for the catalysts. The catalysts were characterized via X-ray powder diffraction, N2 adsorption, pyridine-IR, and the temperature-programmed desorption of ammonia. Hydroisomerization of n-dodecane was performed on Pt/MMZ-FER catalysts. Hydroisomerization requires platinum loading on MMZ-FER, even though the amount of platinum loaded (up to 1.2 wt%) did not greatly affect the process of hydroisomerization. Weak acid sites developed on the Pt/MMZ-FER samples induced less cracking of n-dodecane, resulting in an increase in selectivity for isomerization.

RESUMEN

The objective of this study is to evaluate the catalytic potential of Pt/Al-MCM-48 catalysts in hydroisomerization of n-dodecane. The effects of the Si/Al ratio and platinum loading on the acid characteristics of Al-MCM-48 and the catalytic performance in n-dodecane hydroisomerization were analyzed. The catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction, nitrogen adsorption, infrared spectroscopy of pyridine adsorption, and temperature programmed desorption of ammonia. The number of weak strength acid sites on Al-MCM-48 increased with 0.5 wt% platinum loading. The weak strength acid sites of Pt/Al-MCM-48 catalysts were ascribed to Lewis acid sites, which can be confirmed by NH3-TPD and FTIR spectra of pyridine adsorption. Iso-dodecane can be produced with high selectivity in n-dodecane hydrosisomerization over Pt/Al-MCM-48 catalysts. This is attributed to the mild acidic properties of Pt/Al-MCM-48 catalysts.

RESUMEN

Chemically activated biochar produced under oxygenated (O-biochar) and oxygen-free (N-biochar) conditions were characterized and the adsorption of endocrine disrupting compounds (EDCs): bisphenol A (BPA), atrazine (ATR), 17 α-ethinylestradiol (EE2), and pharmaceutical active compounds (PhACs); sulfamethoxazole (SMX), carbamazepine (CBM), diclofenac (DCF), ibuprofen (IBP) on both biochars and commercialized powdered activated carbon (PAC) were investigated. Characteristic analysis of adsorbents by solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) was conducted to determine better understanding about the EDCs/PhACs adsorption. N-biochar consisted of higher polarity moieties with more alkyl (0-45 ppm), methoxyl (45-63 ppm), O-alkyl (63-108 ppm), and carboxyl carbon (165-187 ppm) content than other adsorbents, while aromaticity of O-biochar was higher than that of N-biochar. O-biochar was composed mostly of aromatic moieties, with low H/C and O/C ratios compared to the highly polarized N-biochar that contained diverse polar functional groups. The higher surface area and pore volume of N-biochar resulted in higher adsorption capacity toward EDCs/PhACs along with atomic-level molecular structural property than O-biochar and PAC. N-biochar had a highest adsorption capacity of all chemicals, suggesting that N-biochar derived from loblolly pine chip is a promising sorbent for agricultural and environmental applications. The adsorption of pH-sensitive dissociable SMX, DCF, IBP, and BPA varied and the order of adsorption capacity was correlated with the hydrophobicity (Kow) of adsorbates throughout the all adsorbents, whereas adsorption of non-ionizable CBM, ATR, and EE2 in varied pH allowed adsorbents to interact with hydrophobic property of adsorbates steadily throughout the study.

RESUMEN

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to develop a vital signs e-book for undergraduate student nurses and evaluate the content, system and student satisfaction. METHOD: This study was done in three stages, the development of a vital signs e-book, implementation and evaluation. The subjects were 73 undergraduate student nurses in Y university. RESULT: Thirty one learning objectives were used to create the contents. A set of 5 chapters and 18 subsections were defined after validation from nurse educators. The e-book is available at http://123.134.207.23/ebook/vitalsigns. Analysis of the questionnaires showed a mean score for content, system and students satisfaction of 3.17 +/- .73, 3.11 +/-.79, and 2.96 +/-.74 respectively out of a possible 4 points. CONCLUSION: Nurse educators should provide quality and effective web-based courses that meet undergraduate student nurses' learning needs and they should incorporate web-based learning into traditional teaching to meet the demands of nursing education.
