RESUMEN

The ability of immunoglobulins (Ig) G, A and M to bind to amino acids was studied in 27 patients with rheumatism (R), 28 with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and 27 patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) with minimum degree of activity. The enhancement of the binding capacity of IgG with respect to arginine, glutamic acid, lysine and decrease of that of IgM towards serine was established to be of diagnostic value in R as was the enhancement of the above capacity of IgG and A with respect to proline and oxyproline in RA and enhancement of that of Ig of all three classes with respect to a broad range of amino acids in SLE. Information criteria were established of differential diagnosis of R, RA and SLE.

RESUMEN

A study is presented of the binding capacity of immunoglobulins with amino acids in 60 patients with rheumatoid arthritis of grade I and II activity. Results of the investigation revealed an increase of the binding capacity of immunoglobulins of all three classes with a high range of amino acids that depended directly on the activity grade of the pathological process.

RESUMEN

The authors studied the binding capacity of immunoglobulins (Ig) in torpid rheumatism. An increase was established of the binding capacity of IgG with glutamic acid and arginine and reduction of the binding capacity of IgM with serine. The degree of increase of the binding capacity of Ig with amino acids was 2.2 times higher than increase of the Ig level which may be a more sensitive index of activity of the rheumatic process.

RESUMEN

The effect of sulfalen on the weight and structure of the thymus, spleen and adrenal glands was studied. The findings were compared with the results observed in control rats. It was shown that after administration of sulfalen, the weight of the adrenal glands markedly decreased while their structure did not change. Thymus specimens showed a large number of hypertrophic epitheliocytes, in the medulla which was accompanied by a decrease in its weight.

RESUMEN

The effect of acetylsalicylic acid, ibuprofen and pentoxyl on the histological and morphometric pattern of the thymus and the weight of the thymus and spleen was studied in rats. There was decreased function of the thymus and its atrophy with acetylsalicylic acid and ibuprofen. Pentoxyl increased the secretory activity of the thymus. The effect of the drugs on the thymus and spleen was unidirectional.

RESUMEN

The content of G, M, A, serum immunoglobulins and binding capacity with amino acids prolin, oxyprolin, alanin and serin was examined in 40 patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (grade I and II activity). It was established that the degree of increase of the binding capacity of Ig with amino acids was higher than that of corresponding Ig and depended on the activity of the process.
