RESUMEN

Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is a heart disease that injured greatly to the people wordwide. Systemic co-expression analysis for this cancer is still limited, although massive clinic experiments and gene profiling analyses had been well performed previously. Here, using the public RNA-Seq data "GSE116250" and gene annotation of Ensembl database, we built the co-expression modules for DCM by Weighted Gene Co-Expression Network Analysis, and investigated the function enrichment and protein-protein interaction (PPI) network of co-expression genes of each module by Database for Annotation, Visualization, and Integrated Discovery and Search Tool for the Retrieval of Interacting Genes/Proteins database, respectively. First, 5,000 genes in the 37 samples were screened and 11 co-expression modules were conducted. The number of genes for each module ranged from 77 to 936, with a mean of 455. Second, interaction relationships of hub-genes between pairwise modules showed great differences, suggesting relatively high-scale independence of the modules. Third, functional enrichments of the co-expression modules exhibited great differences. We found that genes in module 3 were significantly enriched in the pathways of focal adhesion and ubiquitin-mediated proteolysis. This module was inferred as the key module involved in DCM. In addition, PPI analysis revealed that the genes HSP90AA1, CTNNB1, MAPK1, GART, and PPP2CA owned the largest number of adjacency genes, unveiling that they may function importantly during the occurrence of DCM. Focal adhesion and ubiquitin-mediated proteolysis play important roles in human DCM.

The reflected waves received from ultrasonic waves propagating in materials contain information that constitutes the physical properties, material composition, defects, and degradation states. When measuring the dynamic viscoelasticity, the traditional bottom reflection method (BRM) cannot be used to measure the bottom irregular samples. In this paper, the storage modulus, loss modulus, and loss tangent are extracted by the surface reflection method (SRM) to evaluate the elastomer sample viscoelasticity. A theoretical study on the phase change caused by multiple reflections in the case of non-thin layer coupling is conducted. Based on this research, the experimental system is built. The results show that considering the thickness of the coupling layer can optimize the determination of viscoelasticity and reduce the error of the viscoelastic evaluation results of an elastomer with the traditional BRM. Finally, based on the principle of the SRM, the density of the elastomers is measured, and the feasibility and overall efficiency of this method are verified by experiments.

Accurate theoretical calculations on the MgBr radical have been carried out by using the high-level relativistic multireference configuration interaction method with Davidson correction (MRCI+Q) using correlation-consistent Quintuple-ζ quality basis set. The potential energy curves (PECs) of the 14 Λ-S states of MgBr have been computed. In order to improve the PECs, the core-valence correlation, scalar relativistic effect, and spin-orbit coupling effect are taken into account in the computations. The spectroscopic constants of the bound states have been determined from the computed PECs. The results of the ground state X(2)Σ(+) and the first excited state A(2)Π are in good agreement with those from the available experiments, while spectroscopic constants of the other electronic states are firstly reported. The low-lying ion-pair state B(2)Σ(+) correlated to ion-pair dissociation limit Mg(+) ((2)Sg)+Br(-) ((1)Sg) is characterized. The permanent dipole moments (PDMs) of Λ-S states and the R-dependent spin-orbit (SO) matrix elements are computed. The results indicate that the abrupt changes of PDMs and the SO matrix elements are attributed to the changes of the electronic configurations near the avoided crossing point. After taking the SOC effect into account, the 14 Λ-S states split into 30Ω states, and the SOC splitting for the A(2)Π is calculated to be 102.58cm(-1). The SOC effect, leading to the double-well potential of the Ω=(3)1/2 state, is found to be substantial for MgBr. In order to further illustrate the SOC effect and the avoided crossing phenomenon of the PECs, the Λ-S compositions in the Ω state wavefunctions are analyzed in detail. Finally, the transition dipole moments (TDMs) of several transitions from upper Ω states to the ground X(2)Σ(+)1/2 state and the corresponding radiative lifetimes have been studied. It is shown that the (1)3/2-X(2)Σ(+)1/2 and (2)3/2-X(2)Σ(+)1/2 are particularly important to the observed transitions A(2)Π-X(2)Σ(+) and C(2)Π-X(2)Σ(+). The present study should shed more light on the electronic structures and transition properties of electronic states of the MgBr radical.

RESUMEN

Objective. To evaluate the clinical effect of safflower yellow on the treatment of severe sepsis and septic shock. Methods. 85 patients with severe sepsis and septic shock were randomly selected to receive either therapy according to the international guidelines for management of severe sepsis and septic shock (Surviving Sepsis Campaign 2012) (control group, n = 45) or conventional therapy plus safflower yellow (study group, n = 40). The 28-day mortality and 28-day Kaplan-Meier survival curves were compared as primary outcomes. Results. The 28-day mortality from all causes and in-hospital mortality were significantly lower in the study group (50%, 17.5%) as compared to the control group (78.58%, 54.76%) (P = 0.007, all causes, P < 0.001, in-hospital), and the 28-day Kaplan-Meier survival curve was higher in the study group than in the control group (P = 0.008, all causes, P < 0.001, in-hospital, Log Rank). 72 hours after treatment, secondary outcomes including heart rate, leukocyte counts, lactate levels, and platelet counts of patients in the study group were ameliorated significantly as compared with the control group. Conclusion. This study offers a potential new strategy employing safflower yellow to more effectively treat patients with severe sepsis and septic shock.
