RESUMEN

Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS), as an elemental composition analysis technique, has many unique advantages and great potential for applications in water detection. However, the quality of LIBS spectral signals, such as signal-to-noise ratio and stability, is often poor due to the matrix effects of water, limiting its practical performance. To effectively remove the inherent weak radiation in experimental spectral data that can be easily mistaken for noise, this paper proposes a denoising algorithm for processing spectral data using a self-built blank sample spectral database of deionized water samples, and designs a complete data processing workflow. It includes steps such as blank sample data screening, internal standard correction, blank sample correction, and spectral smoothing. Against the backdrop of marine applications, experimental spectral data for target elements Na, Mg, Ca, K, Sr, and Li were processed with this algorithm. The results show that after algorithm processing, the spectral quality was significantly improved, with the signal-to-noise ratio and detection limits of various elements improved by at least one order of magnitude. The signal-for Li increased by up to 36 times, and the detection limit for K decreased by up to 25.2 times. Additionally, tiny spectral peaks that could not be observable in the original spectral data could be effectively extracted after processing. From a technical implementation perspective, the database establishment and data process are simple and practical, with universal applicability. Therefore, this method has good potential and wide foregrounds in many other water sample LIBS detection technologies.

RESUMEN

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a chronic lung inflammatory disease that causes restricted airflow and breathing difficulties. In this work, we attempted to explore the salutary effects of rutaecarpine on COPD-induced rats. Healthy Wistar rats were employed in this study and exposed to cigarette smoke to initiate COPD. The rutaecarpine was given to the rats at 20 and 30 mg/kg dosages, respectively, for 12 weeks. Body weight gain, food uptake, and food efficiency were assessed after treatment completion. The grip strength test was performed to assess muscle strength. The C-reactive protein (CRP), leptin, inflammatory cytokines, and oxidative stress markers were assessed using the corresponding assay kits. The inflammatory cells on the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) were counted using Wright-Giemsa staining. The respiratory functions of the experimental rats were measured. The histopathological analysis was done on the lung tissues. The rutaecarpine treatment effectively increased body weight gain, food uptake, and food efficiency in the COPD rats. The levels of leptin were increased, and CRP was reduced by the rutaecarpine. The rutaecarpine regulated the respiratory functions and reduced the inflammatory cell counts and pro-inflammatory markers in the COPD rats. The levels of antioxidants were increased by the rutaecarpine treatment in the COPD rats. The findings of the lung histopathological study also demonstrated the therapeutic effects of rutaecarpine. Overall, the findings of the current study witness the salutary role of rutaecarpine against cigarette smoke-induced COPD in rats. Therefore, it was clear that rutaecarpine could be a promising salutary candidate to treat COPD.

RESUMEN

The development of high performance two-dimensional thermoelectric (TE) materials is crucial for enhancing the conversion of waste heat into electricity and for achieving the transition to new energy. In recent years, two-dimensional Dirac materials with high carrier mobility and non-trivial topological properties have been expected to extend the application of carbon-based materials in the TE field. However, research on the TE properties of two-dimensional Dirac materials is still scarce, and the relevant physical mechanisms that affect the TE figure of merit of the materials are still unclear. Therefore, we carefully selected a typical and experimentally synthesized Dirac structure, graphenylene, and systematically studied its thermal transport and electrical transport properties using density functional theory (DFT) and Boltzmann transport theory. The results show that the ZT value of graphenylene exhibits an extremely significant anisotropy. There is a significant discrepancy in the figure of merit (ZT) values of n-type and p-type systems at the optimum doping concentration, i.e., the ZT value of the n-type system (0.49) is one order of magnitude greater than that of the p-type system (0.06). Graphenylene exhibits excellent electronic performance due to its unique electronic band structure and has an extremely high conductivity (for the n-type system, electrical conductivity at room temperature is 109 S m-1). Interestingly, graphenylene has an unusually higher ZT at low temperature (0.5 at 300 K) than at high temperature (0.3 at 800 K) for n-type doping along the x-axis, contrary to the conventional view that higher ZT values exist in the high temperature range. This work provides a deep insight into the TE properties of two-dimensional Dirac carbon materials and offers new perspectives for enhancing the TE performance and application of carbon-based nanomaterials.

RESUMEN

The development of highly active oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalysts with fast kinetics is crucial for the advancement of clean energy and fuel conversion to achieve a sustainable energy future. Recently, the synergistic effect of single-atom doping and multicomponent clusters has been demonstrated to significantly improve the catalytic activity of materials. However, such synergistic effects involving multi-electron and proton transfer processes are quite complex and many crucial mechanistic details need be well comprehended. We ingeniously propose a catalyst, (Fed-FeSc)@NiS2 (d stands for doping and c stands for clustering), with Fe and FeS acting synergistically on a NiS2 substrate. Specifically, fully dynamic monitoring of multiple active sites at the (Fed-FeSc)@NiS2 interface using metadynamics is innovatively performed. The results show that the rate determining step value at the overpotential of 1.23 V for the synergistic (Fed-FeSc)@NiS2 is 1.55 V, decreased by 6.67% and 35.29% compared to those of the independently acting single-atom doping and multi-clusters. The unique synergistic structure dramatically increases the d-band centre of the Fe site (-1.45 eV), endowing (Fed-FeSc)@NiS2 with more activity than conventional commercial Ir-C catalysts. This study provides insights into the synergistic effects of single-atom doping and multi-component clusters, leading to exploratory inspiration for the design of highly efficient OER catalysts.

RESUMEN

Objectives: To investigate the effect of bi-level positive airway pressure (BIPAP) therapy on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) complicated with anxiety and depression. Methods: This is a retrospective study. One hundred patients with COPD complicated with anxiety and depression who were admitted to the Respiratory Department of The First Affiliated Hospital of Hebei North University from August 2021 to August 2022 were selected and randomly divided into two groups. Patients in the control group were given conventional symptomatic treatment, while those in the observation group were given BIPAP therapy in addition to the treatment in the control group. The two groups were compared and analyzed in terms of respiratory function indicators, the changes in the scores of St. George's Hospital Respiratory Questionnaire (SGRQ) and COPD assessment test (CAT), blood gas analysis indicators, the levels of serum neurokinin A (NKA), serum interleukin-6 (IL-6), and serum serotonin (5-HT), as well as the changes in the scores of Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA) and Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD). Results: After treatment, the levels of lung function indicators in both groups increased, SGRQ and CAT scores decreased, and pH levels remained unchanged. In addition, PaO2 levels increased, PCO2, 5-HT, NKA and IL-6 levels decreased, and HAMA and HAMD scores decreased. The improvement degree of each indicator in the observation group was superior to that in the control group. Conclusion: In the clinical treatment of COPD complicated with anxiety and depression, BIPAP boasts effective amelioration of lung function and relief of anxiety and depression symptoms, and its mechanism of action may have a close bearing on ameliorating the levels of 5-HT, NKA, and IL-6 in patients.

RESUMEN

It is estimated that the annual cost of corrosion in most countries accounts for 3-4% of gross domestic product, far exceeding the losses caused by natural disasters, prompting scientists to continuously search for high-performance anti-corrosion materials. Among these high-performance materials, two-dimensional carbon materials represented by graphene have received widespread attention due to their excellent chemical stability and anti-permeability. However, some studies have found that the poor ability of graphene to bind to the interface and the electrical coupling caused by metallicity make it possible to protect copper from corrosion only for a short period of time. To circumvent these issues, through phase behavior research, interface binding property simulation and corrosion mechanism exploration, we propose a more promising anti-corrosive three-dimensional (3D) biphenylene diamond-like carbon membrane (BP-DLC). The kinetic study results show that due to the Gibbs free energy of biphenylene structures below three layers being lower than 0, few-layer biphenylene can spontaneously generate phase transitions of limited size, forming a biphenylene diamond-like membrane and exhibiting superior mechanical properties and a certain degree of flexibility. Mechanical and electronic performance results further show that there is a strong bonding effect between BP-DLC and the metal surface, which further enhances the bistate heterostructure and prolongs the coating life of BP-DLC materials. Compared with pure graphene and Cu substrates, BP-DLC membranes exhibit stronger corrosion resistance by reducing porosity, increasing charge transfer and hindering the diffusion of corrosion ions to the substrate. This study provides a new strategy for constructing corrosion-resistant materials by designing long-term stable and highly corrosion-resistant diamond-like membranes.

RESUMEN

Background: Parkinson's disease (PD) is one of the most common neurodegenerative disease, and half of PD patients have hypertension as well. The effect of antihypertensive drugs on the progression of PD has been less studied. The focus of this study was on the changes in dopamine transporter (DAT) levels to assess the effect of antihypertensive drugs on the progression of PD. Methods: Data from 321 drug-naïve patients from the Parkinson's Disease Progression Marker Initiative (PPMI) were collected over a 2-year period. Patients were divided into the PD with arterial hypertension (AH) group (102 cases) with antihypertensive drugs, the PD with other cardiovascular risk factors (CVRFs) group (60 cases) with antidiabetic and/or lipid-lowering drugs, and the pure PD group (159 cases) without CVRFs. The Movement Disorder Society Sponsored Revision Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (MDS-UPDRS) and Hoehn-Yahr (H&Y) stage were used to assess progression. DAT semiquantitative values were used to evaluate damage to dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra, including the contralateral and ipsilateral count density ratio and asymmetry index. Results: There were no significant differences among the three groups in MDS-UPDRS score and H&Y stage. Changes in DAT levels among the three groups were without distinct differences in the first year and second year. In each group, DAT decreased more in the first year than in the second year. There was no decrease in DAT uptake in the PD with AH group compared with the other groups during the follow-up period. Conclusions: There is no evidence that antihypertensive drugs can delay PD progression within 2 years.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Acute lung injury (ALI) is a common complication of sepsis. Dihydroquercetin (DHQ) has been found to attenuate lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced inflammation. However, the effect of DHQ on LPS-challenged ALI remains unclear. METHODS: Pulmonary HE and TUNEL staining and lung wet/dry ratio were detected in LPS-treated Balb/c mice. IL-1ß, IL-6 and TNF-α levels were determined utilizing ELISA assay. RAW264.7 cell apoptosis and macrophage markers (CD86, CD206) were tested using flow cytometry. TC-1 viability was analyzed by MTT assay. Western blot measured protein expression of macrophage markers. Interactions of miR-132-3p, IRF4 and FBXW7 were explored utilizing ChIP, RNA pull-down and dual luciferase reporter assays. RESULTS: DHQ alleviated histopathological change, pulmonary edema and apoptosis in LPS-treated mice. DHQ affected LPS-induced M2 macrophage polarization and TC-1 cell injury-related indicators, such as decreased cell activity, decreased LDH levels, and increased apoptosis. LPS inhibited IRF4 and miR-132-3p expression, activated Notch pathway and increased FBXW7 level, which were overturned by DHQ. IRF4 transcriptionally activated miR-132-3p expression. FBXW7 was a downstream target of miR-132-3p. CONCLUSION: DHQ alleviated LPS-induced lung injury through promoting macrophage M2 polarization via IRF4/miR-132-3p/FBXW7 axis, which provides a new therapeutic strategy for ALI.

RESUMEN

Freshwater is a scarce and vulnerable resource that has never encountered such an extensive focus on a nearly worldwide scale as it does today. Recently, it has been found that desalination powered by two-dimensional (2D) carbon materials as separation membranes has significantly reduced the operational costs and complexity but presents heavy requirements for the structural stability and separation properties of the membrane materials. Here, we combined carbon materials with promising adsorption properties and zeolites characterized by a regular pore structure to obtain a zeolite-like structured carbon membrane Zeo-C and investigated the suitability of the Zeo-C membrane for seawater desalination based on the computational-simulation-driven approach. The results of molecular dynamics (MD) simulations and density functional theory (DFT) calculations revealed that the periodic pore distribution conferred favorable structural stability and mechanical strength to the Zeo-C desalination membrane. The rejection rate of Na+ and Cl- is ensured at 100% under a pressure of 40-70 MPa, and that of Na+ could reach 97.85% even though the pressure increases to 80 MPa, exhibiting superior desalination properties. The porous nature of the zeolite-like structure and the low free energy potential barrier are conducive for reliable adsorption and homogeneous diffusion of salt ions, which facilitates the acquisition of desirable water molecule permeability and salt ion selectivity. In particular, the interlinked delocalized π-network imparts inherent metallicity to Zeo-C for self-cleaning in response to electrical stimulation, thereby extending the lifetime of the desalination membrane. These studies have greatly encouraged theoretical innovations and serve as a guiding reference for desalination materials.

RESUMEN

This research aimed to investigate the diagnostic effect of computed tomography (CT) images based on a deep learning double residual convolution neural network (DRCNN) model on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and the related risk factors for COPD. The questionnaire survey was conducted among 980 permanent residents aged ≥ 40 years old. Among them, 84 patients who were diagnosed with COPD and volunteered to participate in the experiment and 25 healthy people were selected as the research subjects, and all of them underwent CT imaging scans. At the same time, an image noise reduction model based on the DRCNN was proposed to process CT images. The results showed that 84 of 980 subjects were diagnosed with COPD, and the overall prevalence of COPD in this epidemiological survey was 8.57%. Multivariate logistic regression model analysis showed that the regression coefficients of COPD with age, family history of COPD, and smoking were 0.557, 0.513, and 0.717, respectively (P < 0.05). The diagnostic sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of DRCNN-based CT for COPD were greatly superior to those of single CT and the difference was considerable (P < 0.05). In summary, advanced age, family history of COPD, and smoking were independent risk factors for COPD. CT based on the DRCNN model can improve the diagnostic accuracy of simple CT images for COPD and has good performance in the early screening of COPD.

RESUMEN

Emerging research has suggested the anticancer potential of tanshinone IIA, the bioactive ingredient isolated from the traditional Chinese herb Salvia miltiorrhiza. However, the molecular mechanism of sodium tanshinone IIA sulfonate (STS) antilung cancer effect is not very clear. In this study, our purpose is to investigate the roles of STS and elongation factor-2 kinase (eEF-2K) in regulating the proliferation, migration, and invasion of A549 cells and explore the implicated pathways. We found that STS suppressed A549 cell survival and proliferation in a time- and xdose-dependent manner. Knockdown of eEF-2K and treatment with STS synergistically exerted antiproliferative, -migratory, and -invasive effects on A549 cells. These effects were caused by attenuation of the extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) pathway via inhibition of tissue transglutaminase (TG2). In summary, the inhibition of eEF-2K synergizes with STS treatment, exerting anticancer effects on lung adenocarcinoma cells through the TG2/ERK signaling pathway, which provides a potential therapeutic target for treating lung adenocarcinoma.

RESUMEN

AIM: To explore the effect of TEC chemotherapy regimen (Docetaxel + Epirubicin + Cyclophosphamide) on traditional cardiovascular risk factors, atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease and cardiac electrical activity. DESIGN: 243 patients with first initially diagnosed breast cancer were collected who receiving TEC chemotherapy. METHODS: Univariate analysis, multivariate analysis, binary logistic regression analysis and statistical description were used to analyse the data. RESULTS: Among the first diagnosed patients, prevalence of hypertension and overweight/obesity in postmenopausal patients were significantly higher than premenopausal group. Compared with initially diagnosed state, incidence of hyperlipidaemia increased significantly after TEC chemotherapy, blood glucose level was remarkably increased, and prevalence of hyperuricaemia was significantly increased, changes of blood pressure level and prevalence rate of hypertension were not significant, and there was no statistical difference. Different menopause status showed the same trend. Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease risk stratification showed after chemotherapy low-risk patients decrease, medium-risk and high-risk people increased. Grouped by menstrual status, after chemotherapy, both groups showed the same trend. The independent influencing factors of increased heart rate after chemotherapy were postmenopausal status. Postmenopausal patients had more cardiovascular risk factors than premenopausal patients. After receiving chemotherapy, levels of cardiovascular risk factors in both groups mostly changed to the direction of disease. Chemotherapy drugs increase the risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease in breast cancer patients. It is necessary to strengthen interdisciplinary cooperation to dynamic assess the cardiovascular health of patients of breast cancer patients.

RESUMEN

CONTEXT: Lung cancer, the most common type of cancer, has a high mortality rate. Cucurbitacin B (CuB), a natural compound extracted from Cucurbitaceae plants, has antitumor effects. OBJECTIVE: We investigated the role of CuB on lung cancer and its potential mechanisms. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A549 cells were treated with 0.1, 0.3, 0.6, and 0.9 µM CuB for 12, 24, and 48 h or untreated. Gene and protein levels were evaluated by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) and western blotting. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) detected inflammatory factors levels (TNF-α and IL-10). 3-(4,5-Dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT), flow cytometry, and colony formation assays measured cell viability, apoptosis, and proliferation. The interaction between miR-let-7c and long non-coding RNA X inactive-specific transcript (XIST) or interleukin-6 (IL-6) was verified by dual-luciferase reporter assays. RESULTS: CuB treatment inhibited the proliferation of lung cancer cells and promoted cell apoptosis, and increased the expression of Bax and cleaved caspase3, decreased cyclin B1 and Bcl-2 expression. CuB suppressed XIST and IL-6 expression, and enhanced miR-let-7c expression. XIST silencing enhanced the inhibitory effect of CuB on cell proliferation and the promotion effect on apoptosis via upregulating miR-let-7c. Moreover, XIST targeted miR-let-7c to activate the IL-6/STAT axis. MiR-let-7c overexpression enhanced the regulatory effect of CuB on proliferation and apoptosis via suppressing the IL-6/STAT3 pathway. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: CuB regulated cell proliferation and apoptosis by inhibiting the XIST/miR-let-7c/IL-6/STAT3 axis in lung cancer. These findings indicate CuB may have the possibility of clinical application in lung cancer treatment.

RESUMEN

Exosomes isolated from mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) had shown beneficial effect on acute lung injury (ALI). However, the effective components in MSC-derived exosomes need further investigation. ALI mice model was established by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) injection. In vitro inflammatory model was established by LPS stimulation of MLE-12 cells. The cell proliferation was evaluated by EdU assay. TUNEL and Annexin V/PI were applied to evaluate the apoptosis of tissue and cell respectively. HE staining was performed to evaluate the lung injury. Transmission electronic microscope was used to observe isolated exosomes. Level of cytokines, MDA, KGF were determined by ELISA kit. Direct interaction of miR-132-3p and TRAF6 were verified by dual luciferase assay. The level of mRNA or proteins were determined by qRT-PCR or western blots respectively. TRAF6 was upregulated while miR-132-3p was downregulated in LPS-stimulated ALI model. MiR-132-3p negatively regulated TRAF6 by direct binding. MiR-132-3p potentiated proliferation and suppressed apoptosis of LPS-induced MLE-12 cells at least partly dependent on targeting TRAF6. Treatment of exosome alleviated the LPS-induced ALI in mice and LPS-induced inflammatory response in MLE-12 cells. Moreover, overexpression of miR-132-3p promoted the protective effect of exosomes in LPS-induced MLE-12 cells injury and LPS-induced ALI. Mechanically, it was suggested that miR-132-3p inactivated PI3K/Akt signalling via targeting TRAF6. In the present study, our results indicated that miR-132-3p mediated protective effect of MSC-derived exosomes on LPS-induced ALI. Exosomal miR-132-3p ameliorated LPS-induced ALI via targeting TRAF6 and inactivating PI3K/Akt signalling.

RESUMEN

PURPOSE: Most studies that examined the relationship between internet use and sleep were conducted mainly in children and adolescents, and we know little about the use of internet among adults. The purpose of this study is to understand the internet use patterns of Chinese adults and to measure their associations with sleep duration from variety, frequency and type. METHODS: A total of 19,730 samples were selected from 2018 data of the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal study. Internet usage was obtained by specific questions, and the range of sleep period was grouped according to recommendations from the National Sleep Foundation. Kruskal-Wallis H-test and the chi-squared test were used for basic descriptive analysis, and multinomial logistic regression was used to analyze the relationships between internet use and sleep duration. Stata version 15.0 was used for data cleaning, and SPSS version 20.0 was used for statistics analysis. RESULTS: After screening, a total of 6346 persons were included in the analysis, of which 3148 (49.61%) were males and 3198 (50.39%) were females. Age ranged from 21 to 95 years, most persons were over 45 years old, with the median age of 56 years. Only 1180 (18.59%) participants used the internet, and almost all of them used mobile phones (1137, 96.36%), the other three types were desktop computer (232, 19.66%), laptop computer (69, 5.85%) and tablet (73, 6.19%). There were 912 (77.28%) and 268 (22.71%) participants who used only one and two or more types, respectively. In the unadjusted model, both short sleep and long sleep were associated with internet use compared with normal sleep duration (0.806 [0.708-0.918] p = 0.001; 0.345 [0.251-0.475] p < 0.000). After adjusting for all covariates, the association between long sleep and internet use still persisted (0.612 [0.433-0.865] p = 0.005), but no significant difference was found in short sleep (0.929 [0.803-1.075] p = 0.325). CONCLUSION: Internet use was found to be closely associated with sleep and the duration of sleep negatively affected, which may provide new ideas for sleep hygiene recommendations and healthy media use. This conclusion needs more evidence to support.

RESUMEN

OBJECTIVE: We aimed to explore the cardiovascular characteristics of patients who were initially diagnosed with breast cancer. METHODS: A total of 600 patients who were diagnosed with primary breast cancer were included in this retrospective study. The data of fasting blood glucose, total cholesterol, total triglyceride, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, lipoprotein (a) (LP (a)) and serum uric acid were collected. Univariate analysis was used to evaluate the cardiovascular risk factors (CVRFs) in patients with breast cancer. The arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk assessment was performed. Multivariate analysis was used to identify the factors that influenced axillary lymph node metastasis (ALNM). RESULTS: Compared with the premenopausal group, the prevalence of overweight/obesity (47.6% vs. 35.2%), diabetes (12.8% vs. 4.3%) and hypertension (49.7% vs. 26.3%) were significantly increased in the postmenopausal group (p < 0.05). Comparisons of rural patients and urban patients showed that there were significant differences in the diagnostic age (49.94 ± 9.92 vs. 52.59 ± 11.13) in the rural patients was notably younger in comparison with the urban patients (p < 0.05). However, the number of menopausal patients (44.3% vs. 53.3%) in the rural group were decreased in comparison with the urban group (p < 0.05). In ASCVD risk stratification, the proportion of low-risk patients (56.4% vs. 90.8%), medium-risk patients (20.6% vs 0.3%) and high-risk patients (19.3% vs. 6.6%) were significantly different between the postmenopausal group and premenopausal group (p < 0.05). Residence (OR 0.735; 95% CI 0.516-1.046; p = 0.087), the number of children (OR 1.250; 95% CI 0.990-1.578; p = 0.061) and LP (a) of ≥ 500 mg/L (OR 0.603; 95% CI 0.342-1.063; p = 0.080) were independent influencing factors of ALNM. CONCLUSION: Postmenopausal patients have more CVRFs and higher risks of ASCVD than premenopausal patients initially diagnosed with breast cancer. There was a correlation between CVRFs and ALNM in patients with breast cancer.

RESUMEN

Purpose: Our purpose was to investigate the effect of lncRNA MEF2C antisense RNA 1 (MEF2C-AS1) on cervical cancer and further explore its underlying molecular mechanisms. Methods: The proliferation, migration and invasion of CC cells were determined by counting Kit-8 (CCK-8), colony formation assay, and transwell assays, respectively. qRT-PCR and western blot were conducted to quantitatively detect the expression of lncRNA MEF2C-AS1, miR-592 and R-spondin1 (RSPO1). Kaplan-Meier survival curve from the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database and the Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis (GEPIA) website was used to describe the overall survival. Bioinformatics analysis was performed to search the downstream target of lncRNA MEF2C-AS1 and miR-592. Luciferase reporter assay was conducted to detect the interaction between lncRNA MEF2C-AS1 and miR-592 or miR-592 and RSPO1. Results: The data from GEPIA website showed that lncRNA MEF2C-AS1 expression was down-regulated in CC tissues and also associated with survival rate of CC patients. Moreover, the results of qRT-PCR also showed lncRNA MEF2C-AS1 was lowly expressed in CC cells. Subsequently, we confirmed that overexpression of lncRNA MEF2C-AS1 inhibited the proliferation, migration and invasion of CC cells. Further research illustrated that lncRNA MEF2C-AS1 was the target of miR-592, and RSPO1 was the downstream target gene of miR-592. Importantly, functional research findings indicated that lncRNA MEF2C-AS1 inhibited CC via suppressing miR-592 by targeting RSPO1. Conclusion: In our study, we demonstrated the functional role of the lncRNA MEF2C-AS1-miR-592-RSPO1 axis in the progression of CC, which provides a latent target for CC treatment.

RESUMEN

Learning burnout is a pressing issue among Chinese medical undergraduates and Postgraduates and has drawn continuous attention worldwide. Studies have found that problematic smartphone use could affect learning burnout, but more research is needed in this direction. Furthermore, few studies focused on the mediating effect of psychological capital on the relationship between problematic smartphone use and learning burnout. The present study was a cross-sectional survey that recruited 1,800 participants from a medical university in Chongqing, China. A questionnaire based on the Mobile Phone Addiction Tendency Scale, Psychological Capital Questionnaire, Learning Burnout Scale, and demographic variables were administered to these students, and 1,475 provided valid responses (81.94%). 771 were undergraduates (52.3%) and 704 were postgraduates (47.7%). Hierarchical regression and the bootstrap method were used to examine the mediating effect of psychological capital. After controlling for demographic variables, problematic smartphone use positively predicted learning burnout in undergraduates (ß = 0.328, p < 0.01) and in postgraduates (ß = 0.342, p < 0.01). The partial mediating effect of psychological capital was 0.068 in undergraduates and 0.074 in postgraduates, accounting for 20.67 and 21.64%, respectively, of the total effect of problematic smartphone use on learning burnout. All the 95% confidence intervals (CI) did not contain 0. Problematic smartphone use can directly predict learning burnout and their relationship was mediated by psychological capital in Chinese medical undergraduates and postgraduates. Strategies to alleviating problematic smartphone use and enhance psychological capital in medical undergraduates and postgraduates may provide useful suggestions for future interventions on dealing with learning burnout in Chinese medical undergraduates and postgraduates.

RESUMEN

BACKGROUND: Learning burnout is a passive mental state among students. It is a common phenomenon that can cause many bad outcomes in Chinese medical students, such as mental disorders and suicide, and its causes are complex. PURPOSE: To analyze the relationship between alexithymia and learning burnout, as well as the mediating effect of mobile phone addiction, and provide clues for future interventions to deal with learning burnout among Chinese medical students. METHODS: In this cross-sectional study, convenience cluster sampling was used to produce a sample of 1200 medical universities in Chongqing, China. The Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20), Mobile Phone Addiction Tendency Scale (MPATS), and Learning Burnout Questionnaire (LBQ) were used to examine participants. Hierarchical regression was used to analyze the effect of alexithymia and mobile phone addiction on learning burnout. A structural equation model (SEM) with maximum likelihood was used to evaluate the mediating effect of mobile phone addiction on the relationship between alexithymia and learning burnout. The bootstrap method was used to confirm the significance of this mediating effect. RESULTS: The final sample size was 1062, with a valid response rate of 88.5%. The prevalence of learning burnout among Chinese medical students was 39.6%. Results of hierarchical regression revealed that alexithymia (ΔR2=0.198, P<0.01) and mobile phone addiction (ΔR2=0.021, P<0.01) were independent factors of learning burnout; the SEM revealed that the mediating effect of mobile phone addiction between alexithymia and learning burnout accounted for 25.16% of the total effect of alexithymia on learning burnout; the bootstrap method revealed that the bounds of the CI did not contain 0, confirming the significance of this mediating effect. CONCLUSION: Of the medical students, 39.6% had learning burnout. Alexithymia can positively predict learning burnout, and this relationship is partially mediated by mobile phone addiction.

RESUMEN

INTRODUCTION: Under the background of the accelerated aging of the population, comorbidity in the elderly has gradually become a social problem. At present, the related studies on chronic diseases are mainly focused on a single disease. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of common chronic diseases, the conditions and patterns of comorbidity in middle-aged and elderly people in China. METHODS: We extracted the data from China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS). A total of 14 diseases were included, and the prevalence was assessed by self-report. We calculate different disease combinations and perform descriptive statistics analysis of chronic disease and comorbidity status. RESULTS: Among the 6754 subjects, 2833 (42.0%) people had at least one chronic disease, and 1138 (17.0%) people had two or more diseases at the same time. The top three diseases of prevalence were hypertension (15.4%), arthritis or rheumatism (11.0%), and stomach or digestive diseases (9.3%). Common dual disease combinations were hypertension and dyslipidemia, hypertension and arthritis or rheumatism, arthritis or rheumatism and stomach or digestive diseases. CONCLUSION: Comorbidity is common in the population, and the pattern of chronic disease comorbidity is complex. Hypertension exists in a variety of comorbidity patterns, and its screening and prevention should be strengthened.
