RESUMEN

Photoionization and dissociative photoionization of acetaldehyde (CH3CHO) in the 10.0-13.7 eV energy range are studied by using synchrotron radiation double imaging photoelectron photoion coincidence spectroscopy (i2PEPICO). The X2A' and A2A" electronic states of CH3CHO+ as well as the Franck-Condon gap region between these two states have been populated with several vibrational sequences and assigned in the high-resolution slow photoelectron spectrum (SPES). The adiabatic ionization energies (AIEs) of the X2A' and A2A" states are measured at 10.228±0.006 and 12.52±0.05 eV, respectively. The present results show that the X2A' state is a stable state while the A2A" state is fully dissociative to produce CH3CO+, CHO+ and CH4 + fragment ions. The 0 K appearance energies (AE0K) of CH3CO+ and CHO+ fragment ions are determined through the modeling of the breakdown diagram, i. e., AE0K(CH3CO+)=10.89±0.01 eV (including a reverse barrier of ~0.19 eV) and AE0K(CHO+)=11.54±0.05 eV. In addition, the dissociation mechanisms of CH3CHO+ including statistical dissociation, direct bond breaking and isomerization are discussed with the support of the calculated dissociation limits and transition state energies.

OBJECTIVES: To develop and validate a prediction tool for pediatric acute liver failure (PALF) mortality risks that captures the rapid and heterogeneous clinical course for accurate and updated prediction. METHODS: Data included 1144 participants with PALF enrolled during three phases of the PALF registry study over 15 years. Using joint modeling, we built a dynamic prediction tool for mortality by combining longitudinal trajectories of multiple laboratory and clinical variables. The predictive performance for 7-day and 21-day mortality was assessed using the area under curve (AUC) through cross-validation and split-by-time validation. RESULTS: We constructed a prognostic joint model that combines the temporal trajectories of international normalized ratio, total bilirubin, hepatic encephalopathy, platelet count, and serum creatinine. Dynamic prediction using updated information improved predictive performance over static prediction using the information at enrollment (Day 0) only. In cross-validation, AUC increased from 0.784 to 0.887 when measurements obtained between Days 1 and 2 were incorporated. AUC remained similar when we used the earlier subset of the sample for training and the later subset for testing. CONCLUSIONS: Serial measurements of five variables in the first few days of PALF capture the dynamic clinical course of the disease and improve risk prediction for mortality. Continuous disease monitoring and updating risk prognosis are beneficial for timely and judicious medical decisions.

Cognitive reappraisal is an effective emotion regulation strategy involving prefrontal cortex (PFC) control of the amygdala. Its aberrant functioning is closely associated with panic disorder (PD). However, the resting-state functional connectivity (rsFC) between the PFC, implicated in cognitive reappraisal, and the amygdala in PD has not been studied. Thus, this study aims to investigate the rsFC patterns and their association with cognitive reappraisal and PD. This study involved 51 participants, including 26 untreated patients with PD and 25 healthy controls (HC). We evaluated the habit of cognitive reappraisal assessment and the severity of PD using neuropsychological and clinical measures. Resting-state fMRI was utilized to evaluate the rsFC pattern between the PFC, engaged in cognitive reappraisal, and the amygdala. Mediation analysis was performed to explore the role of this rsFC in the relationship between cognitive reappraisal and PD severity. PD patients showed reduced rsFC between the PFC and the amygdala compared to HC. This weakened rsFC was associated with the severity of PD symptoms. Moreover, cognitive reappraisal was negatively correlated with PD severity, and mediation analysis indicated that the rsFC of the PFC-amygdala played a mediating role in this association. Abnormal PFC-amygdala rsFC may play a pivotal role in PD development and/or manifestation and mediate the association between cognitive reappraisal and PD severity, potentially serving as a clinical indicator for monitoring and intervention.

Ambient peroxy radical (RO2⁎ = HO2 + RO2) concentrations were measured at a suburban site in a major prefecture-level city (Huaibei) in the boundary of Jiangsu-Anhui-Shandong-Henan region, which is the connecting belt of air pollution in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and the Yangtze River Delta. Measurements were carried out during the period of September to October 2021 to elucidate the formation mechanism of O3 pollution. The observed maximum concentration of peroxy radicals was 73.8 pptv. A zero-dimensional box model (Framework for 0-Dimensional Atmospheric Modeling, F0AM) based on Master Chemical Mechanism (MCM3.3.1) was used to predict radical concentrations for comparison with observations. The model reproduced the daily variation of peroxy radicals well, but discrepancies still appear in the morning hours. As in previous field campaigns, systematic discrepancies between modelled and measured RO2⁎ concentrations are observed in the morning for NO mixing ratios higher than 1 ppbv. Between 6:00 and 9:00 am, the model significantly underpredicts RO2⁎ by a mean factor of 7.2. This underprediction can be explained by a missing RO2⁎ source of 1.2 ppbv h-1 which originated from the photochemical conversion of an alkene-like chemical species. From the model results it shows that the main sources of ROx (= OH + HO2 + RO2) are the photolysis of oxygenated volatile organic compounds (OVOCs, 33 %), O3 and HONO (25 %), and HCHO (24 %). And the major sinks of ROx transitioned from a predominant reaction of radicals with NOx in the morning to a predominant peroxy self- and cross-reaction in the late afternoon. The introduction of an alkene-like species increased RO2 radical concentration and resulted in 14 % increase in net daily integrated ozone production, indicating the possible significance of the mechanism of alkene-like species oxidation to peroxy radicals. This study provides important information for subsequent ozone pollution control policies in Jiangsu-Anhui-Shandong-Henan region.

BACKGROUND: Acute diarrhea with fever can potentially represent a more severe form of the disease compared to non-febrile diarrhea. This study was to investigate the epidemiological characteristics and enteric pathogen composition of febrile-diarrheal patients, and to explore factors including pathogens associated with fever by age group. METHODS: A nationwide surveillance study of acute diarrheal patients of all ages was conducted in 217 sentinel hospitals from 31 provinces (autonomous regions or municipalities) in China between 2011 and 2020. Seventeen diarrhea-related pathogens, including seven viruses and ten bacteria, were investigated and their association with occurrence of fever symptoms was assessed using multivariate logistic analysis. RESULTS: A total of 146,296 patients with acute diarrhea (18.6% with fever) were tested. Th diarrheal children below 5 years had the highest frequency of fever (24.2%), and related to significantly higher prevalence of viral enteropathogens (40.2%) as compared with other age groups (P < 0.001). Within each age group, the febrile-diarrheal patients were associated with a significantly higher prevalence of bacterial pathogens than afebrile-diarrheal patients (all P < 0.01). There was discrepancy when each pathogen was compared, i.e., nontyphoidal Salmonella (NTS) was overrepresented in febrile vs non-febrile patients of all age groups, while the febrile vs non-febrile difference for diarrheagenic Escherichia coli (DEC) was only significant for adult groups. The multivariate analysis revealed significant association between fever and infection with rotavirus A among children [odds ratio (OR) = 1.60], for DEC in adult groups (OR = 1.64), for NTS in both children (OR = 2.95) and adults (OR = 3.59). CONCLUSIONS: There are significant discrepancy of the infected enteric pathogens in patients with acute diarrhea with fever between age groups, and it is valuable for priority detection of NTS and rotavirus A in patients with children < 5 years old and NTS and DEC in adult patients. The results may be useful in identifying dominant pathogen candidates for the application of diagnostic assays and prevention control.

The cross-reaction of ethyl peroxy radicals (C2H5O2) with methyl peroxy radicals (CH3O2) (R1) has been studied using laser photolysis coupled to time resolved detection of the two different peroxy radicals by continuous wave cavity ring down spectroscopy (cw-CRDS) in their AÃ-X̃ electronic transition in the near-infrared region, C2H5O2 at 7602.25 cm-1, and CH3O2 at 7488.13 cm-1. This detection scheme is not completely selective for both radicals, but it is demonstrated that it has great advantages compared to the widely used, but unselective UV absorption spectroscopy. Peroxy radicals were generated from the reaction of Cl-atoms with the appropriate hydrocarbon (CH4 and C2H6) in the presence of O2, whereby Cl-atoms were generated by 351 nm photolysis of Cl2. For different reasons detailed in the manuscript, all experiments were carried out under excess of C2H5O2 over CH3O2. The experimental results were best reproduced by an appropriate chemical model with a rate constant for the cross-reaction of k = (3.8 ± 1.0) × 10-13 cm3 s-1 and a yield for the radical channel, leading to CH3O and C2H5O, of (ϕ1a = 0.40 ± 0.20).

In this study, MnPc intercalated Zn/Fe layered double hydroxides (MnPc/ZF-LDH) were synthesized by pillared intercalation modification with different MnPc intercalation amounts and used for the selective transformation and removal of As(III) from the arsenate-phosphate mixed solution. Fe-N bonds were constructed by the complexation of MnPc and iron ions on the Zn/Fe layered double hydroxides (ZF-LDH) interface. The DFT calculation results show that the binding energy of Fe-N bonded to arsenite (-3.75 eV) was higher than that of phosphate (-3.16 eV), resulting in MnPc/ZnFe-LDH exhibiting high As(III) selective adsorption performance and anchoring it rapidly in the arsenite -phosphate mixed solution. The maximum adsorption capacity of 1MnPc/ZF-LDH for As(III) could reach 180.7 mg·g-1 under dark conditions. MnPc also acts as a photosensitizer to provide more active species for the photocatalytic reaction. A series of experiments demonstrated that MnPc/ZF-LDH exhibits high As(III) selective photocatalytic performance. A total of 10 mg·L-1 of As(III) was completely removed in the reaction system within 50 min in a single As(III) environment. In an environment with As(III) and PO43-, it achieved 80.0 % removal efficiency of As(III) and showed a good reuse effect. The introduction of MnPc could improve the utilization of visible light by the MnPc/ZnFe-LDH. The singlet oxygen generated from photoexciting MnPc leads to abundant ZnFe-LDH interface OH. In addition, MnPc/ZnFe-LDH shows good recyclability, making it a promising multifunctional material for the purification of arsenic-polluted sewage.

BACKGROUND: Certain bacterial infectious diseases are categorized as notifiable infectious diseases in China. Understanding the time-varying epidemiology of bacterial infections diseases can provide scientific evidence to inform prevention and control measures. METHODS: Yearly incidence data for all 17 major notifiable bacterial infectious diseases (BIDs) at the province level were obtained from the National Notifiable Infectious Disease Reporting Information System in China between 2004 and 2019. Of them 16 BIDs are divided into four categories, respiratory transmitted diseases (RTDs, 6 diseases), direct contact/fecal-oral transmitted diseases (DCFTDs, 3 diseases), blood-borne/sexually transmitted diseases (BSTDs, 2 diseases), and zoonotic and vector-borne diseases (ZVDs, 5 diseases), and neonatal tetanus is excluded in the analysis. We characterized the demographic, temporal, and geographical features of the BIDs and examined their changing trends using a joinpoint regression analysis. RESULTS: During 2004‒2019, 28 779 thousand cases of BIDs were reported, with an annualized incidence rate of 134.00 per 100 000. RTDs were the most commonly reported BIDs, accounting for 57.02% of the cases (16 410 639/28 779 000). Average annual percent changes (AAPC) in incidence were - 1.98% for RTDs, - 11.66% for DCFTDs, 4.74% for BSTDs, and 4.46% for ZVDs. Females had a higher incidence of syphilis than males, and other BIDs were more commonly reported in males. Among 0-5-year-olds, the diseases with the largest increases in incidence were pertussis (15.17% AAPC) and scarlet fever (12.05%). Children and students had the highest incidence rates of scarlet fever, pertussis, meningococcal meningitis, and bacillary dysentery. Northwest China had the highest incidence of RTDs, while South and East China had the highest incidences of BSTDs. Laboratory confirmation of BIDs increased from 43.80 to 64.04% during the study period. CONCLUSIONS: RTDs and DCFTDs decreased from 2004 to 2019 in China, while BSTDs and ZVDs increased during the same period. Great attention should be paid to BSTDs and ZVDs, active surveillance should be strengthened, and timely control measures should be adopted to reduce the incidence.

Organic peroxy radicals (RO2) as key intermediates in tropospheric chemistry exert a controlling influence on the cycling of atmospheric reactive radicals and the production of secondary pollutants, such as ozone and secondary organic aerosols (SOA). Herein, we present a comprehensive study of the self-reaction of ethyl peroxy radicals (C2H5O2) by using advanced vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) photoionization mass spectrometry in combination with theoretical calculations. A VUV discharge lamp in Hefei and synchrotron radiation at the Swiss Light Source (SLS) are employed as the photoionization light sources, combined with a microwave discharge fast flow reactor in Hefei and a laser photolysis reactor at the SLS. The dimeric product, C2H5OOC2H5, as well as other products, CH3CHO, C2H5OH and C2H5O, formed from the self-reaction of C2H5O2 are clearly observed in the photoionization mass spectra. Two kinds of kinetic experiments have been performed in Hefei by either changing the reaction time or the initial concentration of C2H5O2 radicals to confirm the origins of the products and to validate the reaction mechanisms. Based on the fitting of the kinetic data with the theoretically calculated results and the peak area ratios in the photoionization mass spectra, a branching ratio of 10 ± 5% for the pathway leading to the dimeric product C2H5OOC2H5 is measured. In addition, the adiabatic ionization energy (AIE) of C2H5OOC2H5 is determined at 8.75 ± 0.05 eV in the photoionization spectrum with the aid of Franck-Condon calculations and its structure is revealed here for the first time. The potential energy surface of the C2H5O2 self-reaction has also been theoretically calculated with a high-level of theory to understand the reaction processes in detail. This study provides a new insight into the direct measurement of the elusive dimeric product ROOR and demonstrates its non-negligible branching ratio in the self-reaction of small RO2 radicals.

Polymer-dispersed liquid crystals (PDLCs) are very attractive due to their electrically switchable properties. However, current PDLC films still have problems such as high driving voltages, low contrast ratio (CR), and poor bending resistance and spacing stability. To solve these problems, a PDLC film with a system of coexisting polymer spacer columns and polymer network was proposed. First, based on the adhesive systems of IBMA and UV6301, the effects of IBMA concentration and LC content on the morphology of the polymer network and the electro-optical properties of PDLC were investigated, respectively. Then, the effects of the process conditions of mask polymerization such as temperature, time, and UV light intensity on the morphology and electro-optical properties of the polymer spacer columns were systematically investigated. It was found that PDLC films with the coexistence system exhibit both excellent electro-optical properties and outstanding bending resistance and spacing stability. Thus, it provides new practical possibilities for the preparation of high-performance PDLC films used in flexible devices.

PURPOSE: The purpose of the study was to assess the efficacy of electroacupuncture on dry eye (DE). METHODS: Eighty-four DE patients were randomly assigned to receive electroacupuncture (EAG) three times a week or 0.1% sodium hyaluronate artificial tears (ATG) four times per day for 4 weeks. The primary outcomes were non-invasive tear film breakup time (NIBUT) and tear meniscus height (TMH). The secondary outcomes included the ocular surface disease index (OSDI), Schirmer I test (SIT), corneal sodium fluorescein staining (CFS) score, corneal topography descriptors surface asymmetry index (SAI) and surface regularity index (SRI), corneal sensitivity, 36-item Short-form Health Survey (SF-36) score and Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) score. All outcomes were assessed at Week 0 (baseline), Week 4 (after-treatment) and Week 8 (follow-up). RESULTS: Between-group comparisons showed significant differences in the changes in NIBUT (Week 4, p = 0.003; Week 8, p = 0.008), TMH (Week 4, p = 0.014; Week 8, p = 0.009), OSDI (Week 4, p = 0.029; Week 8, p = 0.022), CFS score (Week 8, p = 0.036) and SF-36 role-physical score (Week 4, p = 0.010), favouring EAG. Mean changes in SIT, SAI, SRI, corneal sensitivity and HADS scores were statistically equal between the two groups (all p > 0.05). Treatment with electroacupuncture was well-tolerated and showed minimal adverse events. CONCLUSIONS: Compared with artificial tears, electroacupuncture shows superior efficacy in improving tear film stability and symptoms of DE.

In medical studies, some therapeutic decisions could lead to dependent censoring for the survival outcome of interest. This is exemplified by a study of paediatric acute liver failure, where death was subject to dependent censoring due to liver transplantation. Existing methods for assessing the predictive performance of biomarkers often pose the independent censoring assumption and are thus not applicable. In this work, we propose to tackle the dependence between the failure event and dependent censoring event using auxiliary information in multiple longitudinal risk factors. We propose estimators of sensitivity, specificity and area under curve, to discern the predictive power of biomarkers for the failure event by removing the disturbance of dependent censoring. Point estimation and inferential procedures were developed by adopting the joint modelling framework. The proposed methods performed satisfactorily in extensive simulation studies. We applied them to examine the predictive value of various biomarkers and risk scores for mortality in the motivating example.

This study investigated the effect of influenza vaccination on prevention of acute attacks in elderly patients with chronic airway disease and provides evidence for the prevention and control strategy of chronic airway disease in the elderly population. A total of 348 elderly patients in Linquan County, Anhui Province, China, who were also in stationary phases of chronic airway disease and were vaccinated with either the tetravalent or trivalent influenza vaccine were selected. The number of patients with acute attacks, the number of outpatients with acute attacks, the number of outpatients, the number of inpatients, the total cost of patients, the cost of outpatients, the cost of hospitalization, and the length of hospitalization were collected before vaccination and after a one-year follow-up. There was no significant difference in age and sex ratio among the two vaccination groups. The ratios of acute attacks, outpatient visits, and hospitalizations and number of outpatient visits, number of hospitalizations, total medical expenses, outpatient expenses, and hospitalization expenses were significantly higher before vaccination than those after vaccination in both the trivalent-vaccination group and tetravalent-vaccination group. Additionally, there was no significant difference in the length of stay between before and after vaccination in either the trivalent-vaccination group or tetravalent-vaccination group. The protection effect between the trivalent-vaccination group and tetravalent-vaccination group was not significant. Influenza vaccination can effectively prevent the acute attack of chronic airway disease and delay the progress of chronic airway disease.

The Cl-initiated oxidation of methacrolein (MACR, C4H6O) under NOx-free conditions has been investigated in a fast flow tube by using a home-made vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) photoionization mass spectrometer complemented by high-level theoretical calculations. The key species such as intermediates and radicals together with products involved in the oxidation are observed online and confirmed in photoionization mass spectra. The reaction potential energy surfaces of the transient C4H5O and C4H6OCl radicals, formed from the hydrogen-abstraction reaction and the addition reaction of MACR with Cl atoms, with oxygen have been theoretically calculated to illuminate the formation of the peroxy radicals of C4H5OO2 and C4H6OClO2. The photoionization processes of these peroxy radicals, whose cations are not stable, and their individual self-reactions as well as bimolecular reactions with HO2 radical are studied and discussed. In addition, kinetic experiments are also performed to get the time evolution of specific products and compared with theoretical models, providing a detailed insight into the reaction mechanism of the Cl-initiated oxidation of MACR.

BACKGROUND: Acute meningitis or encephalitis (AME) results from a neurological infection causing high case fatality and severe sequelae. AME lacked comprehensive surveillance in China. METHODS: Nation-wide surveillance of all-age patients with AME syndromes was conducted in 144 sentinel hospitals of 29 provinces in China. Eleven AME-causative viral and bacterial pathogens were tested with multiple diagnostic methods. FINDINGS: Between 2009 and 2018, 20,454 AME patients were recruited for tests. Based on 9,079 patients with all-four-virus tested, 28.43% (95% CI: 27.50%‒29.36%) of them had at least one virus-positive detection. Enterovirus was the most frequently determined virus in children <18 years, herpes simplex virus and Japanese encephalitis virus were the most frequently determined in 18-59 and ≥60 years age groups, respectively. Based on 6,802 patients with all-seven-bacteria tested, 4.43% (95% CI: 3.94%‒4.91%) had at least one bacteria-positive detection, Streptococcus pneumoniae and Neisseria meningitidis were the leading bacterium in children aged <5 years and 5-17 years, respectively. Staphylococcus aureus was the most frequently detected in adults aged 18-59 and ≥60 years. The pathogen spectrum also differed statistically significantly between northern and southern China. Joinpoint analysis revealed age-specific positive rates, with enterovirus, herpes simplex virus and mumps virus peaking at 3-6 years old, while Japanese encephalitis virus peaked in the ≥60 years old. As age increased, the positive rate for Streptococcus pneumoniae and Escherichia coli statistically significantly decreased, while for Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus suis it increased. RESUMEN

We present a vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) photoionization study of the gas-phase sulfuric acid (H2SO4) molecule in the 11-14 eV energy range by using the method of synchrotron radiation-based double imaging photoelectron photoion coincidence (i2PEPICO) spectroscopy complemented with accurate theoretical calculations. The slow photoelectron spectrum (SPES) of H2SO4 has been acquired and the three electronic states of H2SO4+, X2A, A2A and B2A have been populated and assigned. The adiabatic ionization energy of the H2SO4 molecule towards the X2A cationic ground state is measured at 11.684 ± 0.006 eV, in accordance with high-level calculated findings. With increasing photon energies, the H2SO4+ cation dissociates into HSO3+ and OH fragments and their adiabatic appearance energy is measured at 13.498 ± 0.007 eV. Then, the enthalpies of formation for the species involved in the photoionization and dissociative photoionization have been determined through a thermochemical cycle.

What is already known about this topic? Timely screening of high-risk population is important to improve the early detection of brucellosis among the endemic areas during the high incidence seasons, which is also required by the National Brucellosis Prevention and Control Plan (2016-2020) (NBPCP). What is added by this report? Seroepidemiological characteristics of brucellosis in high-risk populations were obtained and special occupational populations were found. The seroprevalence of brucellosis has been decreasing compared with that reported in the recent years due to the ongoing implementation of control measures in endemic areas. What are the implications for public health practice? Special occupational populations could be promptly detected using routine screening, which makes it possible to initiate standardized treatment for infected patients as early as possible. It also reminds us to pay attention to special occupational populations to improve their knowledge of brucellosis and reduce the risk of infection.

What is already known about this topic? Wulanchabu City Center for Endemic Disease Prevention and Control had established and used a Brucellosis Integrated Information System (BIIS) since 2013. However, it had not been systematically evaluated and promoted so far. What is added by this report? The BIIS had significantly improved the efficiency of brucellosis reporting and provided convenience for follow-up management of cases, which was valuable for finishing completely routine therapy. However, the stability of the system needs to be improved. What are the implications for public health practice? The results of the BIIS assessment demonstrated its advantages and disadvantages, which could provide some evidence for its implementation in other areas of China.

WHAT IS ALREADY KNOWN ABOUT THIS TOPIC?: According to the National Brucellosis Prevention and Control Plan (2016-2020) (NBPCP), the awareness rate of high-risk populations in brucellosis-endemic areas should reach 90% by 2020. But the updated results have not been reported. WHAT IS ADDED BY THIS REPORT?: This report determined the awareness rate of brucellosis (17.74%), utilization of personal protective equipment (PPE) (20.13%), and their relationship with seroprevalence, which provides evidence for the effectiveness of the implementation of NBPCP. WHAT ARE THE IMPLICATIONS FOR PUBLIC HEALTH PRACTICE?: The results suggest that health education should be conducted for high-risk populations to improve their brucellosis and protection knowledge.

BACKGROUND: Non pharmaceutical interventions (NPI) including hand washing directives were implemented in China and worldwide to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, which are likely to have had impacted a broad spectrum of enteric pathogen infections. METHODS: Etiologically diagnostic data from 45 937 and 67 395 patients with acute diarrhea between 2012 and 2020, who were tested for seven viral pathogens and 13 bacteria respectively, were analyzed to assess the changes of enteric pathogen infections in China during the first COVID-19 pandemic year compared to pre-pandemic years. FINDINGS: Test positive rates of all enteric viruses decreased during 2020, compared to the average levels during 2012-2019, with a relative decrease of 71•75% for adenovirus, 58•76% for norovirus, 53•50% for rotavirus A, and 72•07% for the combination of other four uncommon viruses. In general, a larger reduction of positive rate in viruses was seen among adults than pediatric patients. A rebound of rotavirus A was seen after September 2020 in North China rather than South China. Test positive rates of bacteria decreased during 2020, compared to the average levels during 2012-2019, excepting for nontyphoidal Salmonella and Campylobacter coli with 66•53% and 90•48% increase respectively. This increase was larger for pediatric patients than for adult patients. INTERPRETATION: The activity of enteric pathogens changed profoundly alongside the NPIs implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic in China. Greater reductions of the test positive rates were found for almost all enteric viruses than for bacteria among acute diarrhea patients, with further large differences by age and geography. Lifting of NPIs will lead to resurgence of enteric pathogen infections, particularly in children whose immunity may not have been developed and/or waned.
