RESUMEN

Noncentrosymmetric transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) monolayers offer a fertile platform for exploring unconventional Ising superconductivity (SC) and charge density waves (CDWs). However, the vulnerability of isolated monolayers to structural disorder and environmental oxidation often degrade their electronic coherence. Herein, an alternative approach is reported for fabricating stable and intrinsic monolayers of 1H-TaS2 sandwiched between SnS blocks in a (SnS)1.15TaS2 van der Waals (vdW) superlattice. The SnS block layers not only decouple individual 1H-TaS2 sublayers to endow them with monolayer-like electronic characteristics, but also protect the 1H-TaS2 layers from electronic degradation. The results reveal the characteristic 3 × 3 CDW order in 1H-TaS2 sublayers associated with electronic rearrangement in the low-lying sulfur p band, which uncovers a previously undiscovered CDW mechanism rather than the conventional Fermi surface-related framework. Additionally, the (SnS)1.15TaS2 superlattice exhibits a strongly enhanced Ising-like SC with a layer-independent Tc of ≈3.0 K, comparable to that of the isolated monolayer 1H-TaS2 sample, presumably attributed to their monolayer-like characteristics and retained Fermi states. These results provide new insights into the long-debated CDW order and enhanced SC of monolayer 1H-TaS2, establishing bulk vdW superlattices as promising platforms for investigating exotic collective quantum phases in the 2D limit.

RESUMEN

Direct chemical vapor deposition (CVD) growth of wafer-scale high-quality graphene on dielectrics is of paramount importance for versatile applications. Nevertheless, the synthesized graphene is typically a polycrystalline film with high density of uncontrolled defects, resulting in a low carrier mobility and high sheet resistance. Here, we report the direct growth of highly oriented monolayer graphene films on sapphire wafers. Our growth strategy is achieved by designing an electromagnetic induction heating CVD operated at elevated temperature, where the high pyrolysis and migration barriers of carbon species are easily overcome. Meanwhile, the embryonic graphene domains are guided into good alignment by minimizing its configuration energy. The thus obtained graphene film accordingly manifests a markedly improved carrier mobility (~14,700 square centimeters per volt per second at 4 kelvin) and reduced sheet resistance (~587 ohms per square), which compare favorably with those from catalytic growth on polycrystalline metal foils and epitaxial growth on silicon carbide.

RESUMEN

Two-dimensional superconductor (2DSC) monolayers with non-centrosymmetry exhibit unconventional Ising pair superconductivity and an enhanced upper critical field beyond the Pauli paramagnetic limit, driving intense research interest. However, they are often susceptible to structural disorder and environmental oxidation, which destroy electronic coherence and provide technical challenges in the creation of artificial van der Waals heterostructures (vdWHs) for devices. Herein, we report a general and scalable synthesis of highly crystalline 2DSC monolayers via a mild electrochemical exfoliation method using flexible organic ammonium cations solvated with neutral solvent molecules as co-intercalants. Using NbSe2 as a model system, we achieved a high yield (>75%) of large-sized single-crystal monolayers up to 300 µm. The as-fabricated, twisted NbSe2 vdWHs demonstrate high stability, good interfacial properties and a critical current that is modulated by magnetic field when one flux quantum fits to an integer number of moiré cells. Additionally, formulated 2DSC inks can be exploited to fabricate wafer-scale 2D superconducting wire arrays and three-dimensional superconducting composites with desirable morphologies.

RESUMEN

This study presents an experimental investigation of nonlinear dynamics in a modified Belousov-Zhabotinsky (BZ) reaction, in which the addition of 1,4-benzoquinone induced various complex behaviors such as mixed-mode oscillations and consecutive period-adding bifurcations. In addition, the presence of 1,4-benzoquinone significantly enhanced the photosensitivity of the ferroin-catalyzed BZ system, in which light-induced transitions between simple and complex oscillations have been achieved. Mechanistic study suggests that the influence of benzoquinone may arise from its interactions with the metal catalyst ferroin/ferriin, where cyclic voltammograms illustrate that the presence of benzoquinone causes an increase in the redox potential of ferroin/ferriin couple, which may consequently alternate the oxidation and reduction paths of the catalyst.

RESUMEN

In this study, hydroquinone was introduced to the classic Belousov-Zhabotinsky (BZ) reaction to build up coupled autocatalytic feedbacks. Various complex dynamical behaviors including successive period-adding bifurcations, irregular oscillations, and frequency modulations were observed in the coupled reaction system. Not only the complexity of oscillations but also the time period during which complex oscillations persist were found to depend greatly on the initial concentration of hydroquinone, which was expected to manifest the coupling strength in the studied system. Dependence of the observed transient complex oscillations on concentrations of ferroin, sulfuric acid, bromate, and malonic acid was also characterized systematically. Numerical simulations with a modified BZ model via incorporating reactions involving hydroquinone and products of hydroquinone qualitatively reproduced the influence of hydroquinone seen in experiments.

RESUMEN

The ferroin-catalyzed Belousov-Zhabotinsky (BZ) reaction was studied in a batch reactor under anaerobic conditions and was found to evolve through two separated regimes of complex oscillations. Significantly, the two bifurcation regimes exhibited qualitatively different dependence on compositions of the reaction mixture, i.e., initial concentrations of bromate, sulfuric acid, malonic acid, and ferroin. The reaction temperature also showed opposite effects on the two bifurcation regimes, in which complexities of the first bifurcation regime were enhanced while oscillations in the second bifurcation regime became simpler as a result of decreasing temperature. Numerical simulations with a 12-variable model developed specifically for the ferroin-BZ system were able to reproduce transient complex oscillations observed in experiments. These calculations further illustrated that reactions such as ferroin and HOBr, ferroin and HBrO2, and ferriin and Br- were not essential in describing complex dynamics of the ferroin-BZ reaction.

RESUMEN

A simple, rapid, microsampling method for the determination of zinc in relish by derivative FAAS is described. The influences of microsampling volume and other factors are discussed. The detection limit and sensitivity of the proposed method are 0.013 and 0.004 microg x mL(-1), respectively. The samples were centrifugalized and diluled with 1.5% HCl solution, and then analysized directly. The method was applied to the determination of zinc in relish with a recovery of 93.3%-113.3% and relative standard deviation of 3.0%-4.4%.
