RESUMEN

Recent research on few-shot fine-grained image classification (FSFG) has predominantly focused on extracting discriminative features. The limited attention paid to the role of loss functions has resulted in weaker preservation of similarity relationships between query and support instances, thereby potentially limiting the performance of FSFG. In this regard, we analyze the limitations of widely adopted cross-entropy loss and introduce a novel Angular ISotonic (AIS) loss. The AIS loss introduces an angular margin to constrain the prototypes to maintain a certain distance from a pre-set threshold. It guides the model to converge more stably, learn clearer boundaries among highly similar classes, and achieve higher accuracy faster with limited instances. Moreover, to better accommodate the feature requirements of the AIS loss and fully exploit its potential in FSFG, we propose a Multi-Layer Integration (MLI) network that captures object features from multiple perspectives to provide more comprehensive and informative representations of the input images. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed method on four standard fine-grained benchmarks. Codes are available at: https://github.com/Legenddddd/AIS-MLI.

AIMS: Basolateral amygdala (BLA), as a center for stress responses and emotional regulation, is involved in visceral hypersensitivity of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) induced by stress. In the present study, we aimed to investigate the role of EphB2 receptor (EphB2) in BLA and explore the underlying mechanisms in this process. METHODS: Visceral hypersensitivity was induced by water avoidance stress (WAS). Elevated plus maze test, forced swimming test, and sucrose preference test were applied to assess anxiety- and depression-like behaviors. Ibotenic acid or lentivirus was used to inactivate BLA in either the induction or maintenance stage of visceral hypersensitivity. The expression of protein was determined by quantitative PCR, immunofluorescence, and western blot. RESULTS: EphB2 expression was increased in BLA in WAS rats. Inactivation of BLA or downregulation of EphB2 in BLA failed to induce visceral hypersensitivity as well as anxiety-like behaviors. However, during the maintenance stage of visceral pain, visceral hypersensitivity was only partially relieved but anxiety-like behaviors were abolished by inactivation of BLA or downregulation of EphB2 in BLA. Chronic WAS increased the expression of EphB2, N-methyl-D-aspartate receptors (NMDARs), and postsynaptic density protein (PSD95) in BLA. Downregulation of EphB2 in BLA reduced NMDARs and PSD95 expression in WAS rats. However, activation of NMDARs after the knockdown of EphB2 expression still triggered visceral hypersensitivity and anxiety-like behaviors. CONCLUSIONS: Taken together, the results suggest that EphB2 in BLA plays an essential role in inducing visceral hypersensitivity. In the maintenance stage, the involvement of EphB2 is crucial but not sufficient. The increase in EphB2 induced by WAS may enhance synaptic plasticity in BLA through upregulating NMDARs, which results in IBS-like symptoms. These findings may give insight into the treatment of IBS and related psychological distress.

Herein, BF3·Et2O-promoted O-insertion/spirocyclization/fluorination/ring-expansion of unsaturated amides to synthesis of spiro[benzo[b]-[1,4]dioxepine-3,5'-oxazole] skeletons in the presence of natural light and O2 (3Σg-) was reported. Air was the oxygen source of the 1O2-generation and O-insertion reaction under metal-free and mild conditions. BF3·Et2O played multiple roles, such as Lewis acid, activating reagent, and fluorine source in the reported cascade. A mechanism involving 1O2 generation/activation of double bond/O-insertion/spirocyclization/fluorination/ring expansion was supposed.

OBJECTIVES: To examine whether patients who had a stroke with high recurrence risk perception would have healthier behaviour and to explore whether perceived social support would function as a mediator. DESIGN: A cross-sectional study. SETTING: The study was conducted in a public tertiary hospital in China. PARTICIPANTS: A total of 254 patients with stroke were invited to participate, and 250 patients with stroke completed questionnaires validly. PRIMARY AND SECONDARY OUTCOME MEASURES: Questionnaires were administered offline to collect data, consisting of four parts: general demographics and scales related to recurrence risk perception, perceived social support, and health behaviour. A path analysis and correlation analysis were used to analyse the data. RESULTS: Out of 250 patients with stroke, 78.4% had moderately low health behaviour. The majority (70.8%) of these patients were elderly. High recurrence risk perception and high perceived social support were significantly associated with better health behaviour (all p<0.001). Perceived social support mediated the relationship between recurrence risk perception and health behaviour after controlling for age, gender, education and monthly income in the regression model (95% CI 0.263 to 0.460) and the effect value was 0.360. It was also confirmed that perceived social support had the highest mediation effect with a proportion of mediation up to 59.31%. CONCLUSIONS: Recurrence risk perception and perceived social support were influential factors in promoting health behaviour. Moreover, the impact of recurrence risk perception on health behaviour was partially mediated by perceived social support. Therefore, to enhance the sustainability of health behaviour, it is crucial to inform patients with stroke about the risk of recurrence. Patients with more perception of recurrence risk can improve their recovery confidence and thus perceive more social support.

The application of epoxidized soybean oil (ESO) in thermosetting polymers is impeded by its unsatisfactory thermomechanical properties. Here, in order to address the limitation, technical lignin was modified by tung oil anhydride and then used as the hardener to compensate for the inherent flexibility defects of ESO thermosets (TLs). As the lignin content increased, a notable improvement in the activation energy of TLs was observed, attributed to the restraining effect of lignin's rigid structure on segmental relaxation. Concurrently, the tensile strength of TLs increased from 2.8 MPa to 34.0 MPa, concomitant with a decrease in elongation at break from 32.9 % to 8.0 %. Comparative analysis with TL-0 (devoid of lignin) demonstrated substantial enhancements in glass transition temperature, shape fixation ratio, and shape recovery ratio for TL-50 (comprising 50 wt% of lignin), elevating from 16.9 °C, 89.1 %, and 89.5 % to 118.6 °C, 94.0 %, and 99.3 %, respectively. These results unequivocally highlight the favorable dynamic mechanical and shape memory properties conferred upon TLs by lignin addition. While the introduction of lignin adversely affected thermal stability, a notable improvement in char yield (800 °C) was observed. Collectively, these findings underscore the potential of technical lignin as a promising bio-based curing agent for ESO.

Noninvasive lung drug delivery is critical for treating respiratory diseases. Pluronic-based copolymers have been used as multifunctional materials for medical and biological applications. However, the Pluronic F127-based hydrogel is rapidly degraded, adversely affecting the mechanical stability for prolonged drug release. Therefore, this study designed two thermosensitive copolymers by modifying the Pluronic F127 terminal groups with carboxyl (ADF127) or amine groups (EDF127) to improve the viscosity and storage modulus of drug formulations. ß-alanine and ethylenediamine were conjugated at the terminal of Pluronic F127 using a two-step acetylation process, and the final copolymers were characterized using 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR) and Fourier-transform infrared spectra. According to the 1H NMR spectra, Pluronic F127 was functionalized to form ADF127 and EDF127 with 85 % and 71 % functionalization degrees, respectively. Rheological studies revealed that the ADF127 (15 wt%) and EDF127 (15 wt%) viscosities increased from 1480 Pa.s (Pluronic F127) to 1700 Pa.s and 1800 Pa.s, respectively. Furthermore, the elastic modulus of ADF127 and EDF127 increased, compared with that of native Pluronic F127 with the addition of 5 % mucin, particularly for ADF127, thereby signifying the stronger adhesive nature of ADF127 and EDF127 with mucin. Additionally, ADF127 and EDF127 exhibited a decreased gelation temperature, decreasing from 33 °C (Pluronic F127 at 15 wt%) to 24 °C. Notably, the in vitro ADF127 and EDF127 drug release was prolonged (95 %; 48 h) by the hydrogel encapsulation of the liposome-Bdph combined with mucin, and the intermolecular hydrogen bonding between the mucin and the hydrogel increased the retention time and stiffness of the hydrogels. Furthermore, ADF127 and EDF127 incubated with NIH-3T3 cells exhibited biocompatibility within 2 mg/mL, compared with Pluronic F127. The nasal administration method was used to examine the biodistribution of the modified hydrogel carrying liposomes or exosomes with fluorescence using the IVIS system. Drug accumulation in the lungs decreased in the following order: ADF127 > EDF127 > liposomes or exosomes alone. These results indicated that the carboxyl group-modified Pluronic F127 enabled well-distributed drug accumulation in the lungs, which is beneficial for intranasal administration routes in treating diseases such as lung fibrosis.

A patient-friendly and efficient treatment method for patients with spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3) was provided through a nose-to-brain liposomal system. Initially, PGK1 was overexpressed in HEK 293-84Q-GFP diseased cells (HEK 293-84Q-GFP-PGK1 cells) to confirm its effect on the diseased protein polyQ. A decrease in polyQ expression was demonstrated in HEK 293-84Q-GFP-PGK1 cells compared to HEK 293-84Q-GFP parental cells. Subsequently, PGK1 was encapsulated in a liposomal system to evaluate its therapeutic efficiency in SCA3. The optimized liposomes exhibited a significantly enhanced positive charge, facilitating efficient intracellular protein delivery to the cells. The proteins were encapsulated within the liposomes using an optimized method involving a combination of heat shock and sonication. The liposomal system was further demonstrated to be deliverable to the brain via intranasal administration. PGK1/liposomes were intranasally delivered to SCA3 mice, which subsequently exhibited an amelioration of motor impairment, as assessed via the accelerated rotarod test. Additionally, fewer shrunken morphology Purkinje cells and a reduction in polyQ expression were observed in SCA3 mice that received PGK1/liposomes but not in the untreated, liposome-only, or PGK1-only groups. This study provides a non-invasive route for protein delivery and greater delivery efficiency via the liposomal system for treating neurodegenerative diseases.

Exosome therapy is a novel trend in regeneration medicine. However, identifying a suitable biomarker that can associate the therapeutic efficacy of exosomes with SCA3/MJD is essential. In this study, parental cells were preconditioned with butylidenephthalide (Bdph) for exosome preparation to evaluate the therapeutic effect of SCA3/MJD. The therapeutic agent hsa-miRNA-6780-5p was enriched up to 98-fold in exosomes derived from butylidenephthalide (Bdph)-preconditioned human olfactory ensheathing cells (hOECs) compared with that in naïve hOECs exosomes. The particle sizes of exosomes derived from naïve hOECs and those derived from hOECs preconditioned with Bdph were approximately 113.0 ± 3.5 nm and 128.9 ± 0.7 nm, respectively. A liposome system was used to demonstrate the role of hsa-miRNA-6780-5p, wherein hsa-miRNA-6780-5p was found to enhance autophagy and inhibit the expression of spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3) disease proteins with the polyglutamine (polyQ) tract. Exosomes with enriched hsa-miRNA-6780-5p were further applied to HEK-293-84Q cells, leading to decreased expression of polyQ and increased autophagy. The results were reversed when 3MA, an autophagy inhibitor, was added to the cells treated with hsa-miRNA-6780-5p-enriched exosomes, indicating that the decreased polyQ expression was modulated via autophagy. SCA3 mice showed improved motor coordination behavior when they intracranially received exosomes enriched with hsa-miRNA-6780-5p. SCA3 mouse cerebellar tissues treated with hsa-miRNA-6780-5p-enriched exosomes showed decreased expression of polyQ and increased expression of LC3II/I, an autophagy marker. In conclusion, our findings can serve as a basis for developing an alternative therapeutic strategy for SCA3 disease treatment using miRNA-enriched exosomes derived from chemically preconditioned cells.

We investigate the 2^{3}S_{1}-2^{3}P_{J} (J=0, 1, 2) transitions in ^{6}Li^{+} using the optical Ramsey technique and achieve the most precise values of the hyperfine splittings of the 2^{3}S_{1} and 2^{3}P_{J} states, with smallest uncertainty of about 10 kHz. The present results reduce the uncertainties of previous experiments by a factor of 5 for the 2^{3}S_{1} state and a factor of 50 for the 2^{3}P_{J} states, and are in better agreement with theoretical values. Combining our measured hyperfine intervals of the 2^{3}S_{1} state with the latest quantum electrodynamic (QED) calculations, the improved Zemach radius of the ^{6}Li nucleus is determined to be 2.44(2) fm, with the uncertainty entirely due to the uncalculated QED effects of order mα^{7}. The result is in sharp disagreement with the value 3.71(16) fm determined from simple models of the nuclear charge and magnetization distribution. We call for a more definitive nuclear physics value of the ^{6}Li Zemach radius.

A 69-year-old man was admitted to the hospital for a left femoral neck fracture. A preliminary chest computed tomography scan showed no coracoid process fracture. The patient had no history of trauma during his hospitalization. However, subsequent in-hospital computed tomography scan revealed bilateral coracoid process fracture. The patient underwent hip replacement surgery for femoral neck fracture, while conservative treatment was administered for the bilateral coracoid process fracture. After 1-year follow-up, the patient was diagnosed with bilateral insufficiency fracture of coracoid process after ruling out other types of fractures. The fractures did not heal while functions in both shoulders were adequate. Insufficiency fracture should be considered when fractures occur without trauma, especially in the presence of associated risk factors such as chronic renal failure and osteoporosis. For bilateral insufficiency fracture of coracoid process, conservative treatment is acceptable.

INTRODUCTION: Stroke has a high incidence and disability rate, and its recurrence and readmission rates are rising, making it the second-leading cause of mortality in the globe. Cardiac rehabilitation is a well-known, evidence-based strategy that might serve as an additional preventative programme. Prior quantitative research has proven the positive results and high practicability of cardiac rehabilitation for patients who had a stroke, however, cardiac rehabilitation is not yet a routine component of stroke rehabilitation worldwide. It might be useful to conduct meta-integration of previous qualitative studies to understand if existing cardiac rehabilitation programme meets the needs of patients who had a stroke. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to combine systematically the perspectives on benefits, barriers and facilitating factors of cardiac rehabilitation in patients who had a stroke. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: There will be a search of PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, Scopus, CINAHL and PsycINFO databases. In addition, grey literature from Google Scholar, OpenGrey, PyARXiv, bioRxiv and medRxiv will also be searched. Included studies will be qualitative studies or findings from mixed-method research involving patients who engage in CR after a stroke. Regardless of the publishing date and context, English-language articles will be reviewed. Two impartial reviewers will screen studies and extract data from the included studies. According to the Joanna Briggs Institute Centre for Evidence-Based Health Care Quality Evaluation Criteria for qualitative research, the methodology of the included literature will be examined. For data synthesis, the pooling meta-integration approach and Noblit and Hare's seven steps of meta-ethnography will be used. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION: Because there will be no collection of primary data, this systematic review is exempt from the need that gets ethical approval. The findings of the review will be made public by publishing them in scholarly journals and presenting them at scientific conferences. PROSPERO REGISTRATION NUMBER: CRD42023387534.

ABSTRACT: Patients with chronic pain often experience exaggerated pain response and aversive emotion, such as anxiety and depression. Central plasticity in the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) is assumed to be a critical interface for pain perception and emotion, which has been reported to involve activation of NMDA receptors. Numerous studies have documented the key significance of cGMP-dependent protein kinase I (PKG-I) as a crucial downstream target for the NMDA receptor-NO-cGMP signaling cascade in regulating neuronal plasticity and pain hypersensitivity in specific regions of pain pathway, ie, dorsal root ganglion or spinal dorsal horn. Despite this, whether and how PKG-I in the ACC contributes to cingulate plasticity and comorbidity of chronic pain and aversive emotion has remained elusive. Here, we uncovered a crucial role of cingulate PKG-I in chronic pain and comorbid anxiety and depression. Chronic pain caused by tissue inflammation or nerve injury led to upregulation of PKG-I expression at both mRNA and protein levels in the ACC. Knockdown of ACC-PKG-I relieved pain hypersensitivity as well as pain-associated anxiety and depression. Further mechanistic analysis revealed that PKG-I might act to phosphorylate TRPC3 and TRPC6, leading to enhancement of calcium influx and neuronal hyperexcitability as well as synaptic potentiation, which results in the exaggerated pain response and comorbid anxiety and depression. We believe this study sheds new light on the functional capability of ACC-PKG-I in modulating chronic pain as well as pain-associated anxiety and depression. Hence, cingulate PKG-I may represent a new therapeutic target against chronic pain and pain-related anxiety and depression.

Non-healing wounds in patients with diabetes are a concerning issue associated with amputation and a high mortality rate. These wounds are exacerbated by oxidative stress and microbial infections resulting from hyperglycemia. Therefore, advanced materials for repairing wound beds must be identified urgently. This paper introduces a topically applicable composite hydrogel with thermosensitive properties and presents the antibacterial and antioxidant activities in mice with diabetes-induced wounds. This composite is developed by combining poly N-isopropyl acrylamide (NIPAM)-copolymerized HEMIN (NIPAM-co-HEMIN) and amine-modified alginate (ALG-EDA) biomaterials, with Ag nanoparticles (AgNPs) incorporated into the system as an antibacterial agent. Results of antibacterial tests show that the p(NIPAM-co-HEMIN)/ALG-EDA/AgNP composite system is effective against E. coli and S. aureus. Additionally, the AgNP composite exhibits low cellular toxicity in NIH3T3 and CT-2A cell lines. The wounds in diabetic mice treated with the composite system healed in <12 days, and the composite system accelerated the healing process by increasing collagen synthesis. In conclusion, the biocomposite reported herein is highly promising for repairing diabetic skin wounds and treating infections caused by bacterial microbes.

INTRODUCTION: In recent years, stroke has become more common among young people. Stroke not only has a profound impact on patients' health but also incurs stress and health threats to their caregivers, especially spousal caregivers. Moreover, the health of stroke survivors and their caregivers is interdependent. To our knowledge, no study has explored dyadic health of young and middle-aged stroke survivors and their spousal caregivers from physiological, psychological and social perspectives. Therefore, this proposed study aims to explore the mechanism of how physiological, psychological and social factors affect dyadic health of young and middle-aged stroke survivors and their spousal caregivers. The findings of this study will provide implications for developing interventions to improve dyadic health of this growing population. METHODS AND ANALYSES: We will collect data from 57 dyads of young and middle-aged stroke survivors and their spousal caregivers during hospitalisation and at 1, 3, 6, 9 and 12 months after discharge. Questionnaires will be used to collect participants' demographic information, stress, depression, anxiety, benefit finding, social support, mutuality and quality of life. The following physiological reactions will be collected at baseline, including interleukin 6, tumour necrosis factor-alpha and salivary cortisol. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION: The study was approved by the ethics review committee of life sciences of Zhengzhou University (No. ZZUIRB2020-53). Prior to being enrolled in the study, participants will be given full and detailed information about the possible risks involved, the informed consent process, confidentiality, the study procedure and secure data storage. Participants will be guaranteed that they can withdraw from the study at any time without providing a reason or leading to any consequences. Both oral and written informed consent will be obtained from all participants. The findings of this proposed study will be disseminated through peer-reviewed journals and academic conferences.

Background: Parkinson's disease (PD) is a heterogeneous movement disorder with patients manifesting with either tremor-dominant (TD) or postural instability and gait disturbance (PIGD) motor subtypes. Small nerve fiber damage occurs in patients with PD and may predict motor progression, but it is not known whether it differs between patients with different motor subtypes. Objective: The aim of this study was to explore whether there was an association between the extent of corneal nerve loss and different motor subtypes. Methods: Patients with PD classified as TD, PIGD, or mixed subtype underwent detailed clinical and neurological evaluation and corneal confocal microscopy (CCM). Corneal nerve fiber density (CNFD), corneal nerve branch density (CNBD), and corneal nerve fiber length (CNFL) were compared between groups, and the association between corneal nerve fiber loss and motor subtypes was investigated. Results: Of the 73 patients studied, 29 (40%) had TD, 34 (46%) had PIGD, and 10 (14%) had a mixed subtype. CNFD (no./mm2, 24.09 ± 4.58 versus 28.66 ± 4.27; p < 0.001), CNBD (no./mm2, 28.22 ± 11.11 versus 37.37 ± 12.76; p = 0.015), and CNFL (mm/mm2, 13.11 ± 2.79 versus 16.17 ± 2.37; p < 0.001) were significantly lower in the PIGD group compared with the TD group. Multivariate logistic regression showed that higher CNFD (OR = 1.265, p = 0.019) and CNFL (OR = 1.7060, p = 0.003) were significantly associated with the TD motor subtype. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis demonstrated that combined corneal nerve metrics showed excellent discrimination between TD and PIGD, with an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.832. Conclusion: Greater corneal nerve loss occurs in patients with PIGD compared with TD, and patients with a higher CNFD or CNFL were more likely to have the TD subtype. CCM may have clinical utility in differentiating different motor subtypes in PD.

Herein, hypervalent iodine-catalyzed halogenation of aryl-activated alkenes using BX3 (X = Cl, Br) as the halogen source and activating reagents was reported. Various halogenated 1,3-oxazine/2-oxazoline derivatives were obtained in good-to-high yields. Using BF3 resulted in different substitute sites from BBr3 and BCl3 of the products, indicating different reactive intermediates and reaction pathways. The reaction underwent a "ligand coupling/oxidative addition/intermolecular nucleophilic attack/1,2-aryl migration/reductive elimination/intramolecular nucleophilic attack" cascade when BF3 was applied as the halogen source, while 1,2-aryl migration has "disappeared" when the halogen source was BBr3 or BCl3. Possible catalytic cycles were proposed, and DFT calculations were conducted to demonstrate the differences among BX3 (X = F, Cl, Br) in the hypervalent iodine-catalyzed halogenations.

Using Eosin Y as a metal-free photocatalyst and O2 as an oxidant, the present study reports a new photochemical protocol that enables efficient aerobic oxidation of various benzyl alcohols to the corresponding aldehydes or ketones in excellent yields under mild reaction conditions. The catalyst system presents good functional-group tolerance and exquisite chemoselectivity, which also can easily be scaled-up to gram scale. Moreover, the methodological applications in practical synthesis of several organic molecules and the primary reaction mechanism were also discussed.

Hybrid eco-friendly nanocomposite films were fabricated by blending high-methoxyl pectin, gelatin, TiO2, and curcumin through the solution casting method. Various concentrations (0-5 wt%) of TiO2 nanoparticles (TNPs) and curcumin as an organic filler were added to the blend solutions. A high TNP concentration affected the surface morphology, roughness, and compactness of the films. Additionally, 3D mapping revealed the nanoparticle distribution in the film layers. Moisture content, water solubility, and light transmittance reduced dramatically with increasing TNP content, in accordance with the water vapor and oxygen permeabilities. X-ray diffraction revealed that the films were semicrystalline nanocomposites, and the thermal properties of the films increased when 5 wt% of TNPs was incorporated into the blend solution. Fourier-transform infrared and Raman analyses revealed interactions among biopolymers, nanoparticles, and organic fillers through hydrogen bonding. The shelf life of fresh salmon fillets was prolonged to six days for all groups, revealed by total viable counts and psychrotrophic bacteria counts, and the pH of the salmon fillets could be extended until the sixth day for all groups. Biodegradation assays demonstrated a significant weight loss in the nanocomposite films. Therefore, a nanocomposite film with 5 wt% TNPs could potentially be cytotoxic to NIH 3T3 cells.

A unified strategy toward asymmetric divergent syntheses of nine C8-ethano-bridged diterpenoids A1-A9 (candol A, powerol, sicanadiol, epi-candol A, atisirene, ent-atisan-16α-ol, 4-decarboxy-4-methyl-GA12, trachinol, and ent-beyerane) has been developed based on late-stage transformations of common synthons having ent-kaurane and ent-trachylobane cores. The expeditious assembly of crucial advanced ent-kaurane- and ent-trachylobane-type building blocks is strategically explored through a regioselective and diastereoselective Fe-mediated hydrogen atom transfer (HAT) 6-exo-trig cyclization of the alkene/enone and 3-exo-trig cyclization of the alkene/ketone, showing the multi-reactivity of densely functionalized polycyclic substrates with πC═C and πC═O systems in HAT-initiated reactions. Following the rapid construction of five major structural skeletons (ent-kaurane-, ent-atisane-, ent-beyerane-, ent-trachylobane-, and ent-gibberellane-type), nine C8-ethano-bridged diterpenoids A1-A9 could be accessed in the longest linear 8 to 11 steps starting from readily available chiral γ-cyclogeraniol 1 and known chiral γ-substituted cyclohexenone 2, in which enantioselective total syntheses of candol A (A1, 8 steps), powerol (A2, 9 steps), sicanadiol (A3, 10 steps), epi-candol A (A4, 8 steps), ent-atisan-16α-ol (A6, 11 steps), and trachinol (A8, 10 steps) are achieved for the first time.

Room-temperature sodium-sulfur (RT-Na/S) batteries possess high potential for grid-scale stationary energy storage due to their low cost and high energy density. However, the issues arising from the low S mass loading and poor cycling stability caused by the shuttle effect of polysulfides seriously limit their operating capacity and cycling capability. Herein, sulfur-doped graphene frameworks supporting atomically dispersed 2H-MoS2 and Mo1 (S@MoS2 -Mo1 /SGF) with a record high sulfur mass loading of 80.9 wt.% are synthesized as an integrated dual active sites cathode for RT-Na/S batteries. Impressively, the as-prepared S@MoS2 -Mo1 /SGF display unprecedented cyclic stability with a high initial capacity of 1017 mAh g-1 at 0.1 A g-1 and a low-capacity fading rate of 0.05% per cycle over 1000 cycles. Experimental and computational results including X-ray absorption spectroscopy, in situ synchrotron X-ray diffraction and density-functional theory calculations reveal that atomic-level Mo in this integrated dual-active-site forms a delocalized electron system, which could improve the reactivity of sulfur and reaction reversibility of S and Na, greatly alleviating the shuttle effect. The findings not only provide an effective strategy to fabricate high-performance dual-site cathodes, but also deepen the understanding of their enhancement mechanisms at an atomic level.
