RESUMEN

Developing an ultra-thin polyamide selective layer with sufficient mechanical robustness on a highly porous ceramic substrate is challenging for removing heavy metal ions from wastewater. We synthesized a reliable ceramic-polyamide membrane by assembling nanocomposite interlayers of alumina and carbon black on the kaolin substrate. The surface morphology, pore size distribution, and roughness of ceramic substrates were improved by introducing the nanocomposite interlayer. The corresponding optimized water flux, Pb(II), and Cd(II) removal efficiency are 2.75 L m-2 h-1, 98.44%, and 97.51%, respectively, which are better than those of the polyamide films constructed directly on the ceramic substrate. This facile structure provides more active sites for forming ultrathin polyamide layers with satisfactory mechanical robustness. This paper provides a new perspective for fabricating efficient heavy metal ions filters.

RESUMEN

It is of great significance to develop a new gravity-driven filter to remove water pollutants, but it is still challenging. Here, a novel and simple strategy is demonstrated to manufacture fly ash (FA) ceramic foams showing a three-dimensional interconnected porous structure, with multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) implanted by combining carbamate grafting and polydimethylsiloxane coating. The polydimethylsiloxane formed a physical coating on the carbamate group, generating an effective thermal insulating layer on the outer side of the entire MWCNT. The FA foam, which shows a sufficient adsorption capacity for Pb(II) (51.67 ± 1.17 mg g-1) and Cd(II) (30.12 ± 0.37 mg g-1) at pH = 5, T = 25 °C, has a 96.33%, 95.12%, 89.50% removal efficiency for Cd(II), Pb(II), and particulate pollutants, and exhibits excellent recycling performance. This paper provides new opportunities to fabricate gravity-driven filters with low energy consumption for wastewater treatment.

RESUMEN

A robust fuzzy control method for fractional order hydro-turbine governing system (FOHGS) in the presence of random disturbances is investigated in this paper. Firstly, the mathematical model of FOHGS is introduced, and based on Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy rules, the generalized T-S fuzzy model of FOHGS is presented. Secondly, based on fractional order Lyapunov stability theory, a novel T-S fuzzy control method is designed for the stability control of FOHGS. Thirdly, the relatively loose sufficient stability condition is acquired, which could be transformed into a group of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) via Schur complement as well as the strict mathematical derivation is given. Furthermore, the control method could resist random disturbances, which shows the good robustness. Simulation results indicate the designed fractional order T-S fuzzy control scheme works well compared with the existing method.

RESUMEN

Loess Plateau is a typical rain-fed farming region, facing the threat of drought. Irrigation method is among the most important factors affecting jujube quality. This study investigated the response of Ziziphus jujuba Mill. cv. Lizao quality to three different irrigation methods (drip-, pipe- and surge spring root irrigation) combining two water levels (20 m(3)/hm(2) and 120 m(3)/hm(2)). The effects of the trials were evaluated by taking into account the physical-chemical characteristics of jujubes and the antioxidant activity. Concomitant to this, the concentration of some taste-related (viz. glucose, fructose, TSS and malic acid) and health-related compounds/parameters (viz. catechin and epicatechin) were generally much greater in jujube fruit treated with drip irrigation (120 m(3)/hm(2)). Different irrigation treatments had no significant effects on antioxidant capacity, total phenolics and proanthocyanidins (except for pipe irrigation 20 m(3)/hm(2)). The best compromise between quality and irrigation of jujube fruit was achieved with drip irrigation (120 m(3)/hm(2)).
