RESUMEN

Natural plant-derived compounds with broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity have become an effective strategy against multidrug-resistant bacteria. The present study was designed to compare the antibacterial activity of six chlorogenic acid (CA) isomers extracted from stevia and investigated the underlying antibacterial mechanisms involved. The results indicated that isochlorogenic acid C (ICAC) exhibited the strongest antibacterial activity against the tested bacteria, especially E. coli, at a 2 mg/mL minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and 8 mg/mL minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC). At the MBC, ICAC inhibited 72.66% of the clinical multidrug-resistant strains. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) revealed that ICAC induced considerable morphological alterations in E. coli ATCC25922 and C4E2. The significant increase in the activity of extracellular alkaline phosphatase (AKP) indicated that ICAC damages the permeability of the bacterial cell wall. Additionally, the intracellular membrane (IM) permeability and the content of lipopolysaccharide (LPS), a main component of the outer membrane (OM), were determined. The significant decrease in LPS content and increased leakage of intracellular proteins and K+ from E. coli indicated that ICAC could induce the exfoliation of OM and disrupt IM permeability, resulting in the loss of barrier function. The uptake of propidium iodide (PI), a compromised cell membrane nucleic acid stain, and confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) further demonstrated that ICAC disrupted IM integrity. Moreover, the bactericidal effect and damage to bacterial microstructural function occurred in a dose-dependent manner. These data demonstrate that ICAC has excellent antibacterial activity and is a promising approach for overcoming the antibiotic resistance of pathogenic bacteria.

Quantum entanglement is a fundamental characteristic of quantum mechanics, and understanding the robustness of entanglement across different mixed states is crucial for comprehending the entanglement properties of general quantum states. In this paper, the robustness of entanglement of Dicke-W and Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) mixed states under different mixing ratios is calculated using the entanglement witness method. The robustnesses of entanglement of Dicke-W and GHZ mixed states are different when the probability ratio of Dicke to W is greater than 32 and less than 32. For the probability of Dicke and W states greater than or equal to 32, we study the robustness of entanglement of Dicke and GHZ mixed states and analyze and calculate their upper and lower bounds. For the probability of Dicke and W states less than 32, we take the equal probability ratio of Dicke and W states as an example and calculate and analyze the upper and lower bounds of their robustness of entanglement in detail.

Bacterial drug resistance is becoming an increasingly serious problem, and the development of antibacterial synergists is urgently needed. Combining existing antibiotics with promising nonantibiotic agents is one strategy that has been shown to be effective at overcoming the widespread emergence of antibiotic-resistant pathogens. In this study, we investigated the antibacterial activities and mechanism of naringenin (NG) combined with amikacin (AMK) against multidrug-resistant Escherichia coli (E. coli). We first measured the fractional inhibitory concentration (FIC) of NG combined with antibiotics via the checkerboard method. The results indicated that the combination of NG and AMK had a synergistic effect on E. coli ATCC 25922 and E. coli C7F3. In addition, this synergistic effect was verified by time-kill assays. Moreover, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to observe cell morphology. The results showed that the cell wall of E. coli was destroyed. Furthermore, we assessed the leakage of alkaline phosphatase (AKP), K+, and protein. The extracellular AKP activity increased after the combinational group of 1/2MIC NG and 1/2MIC AMK, suggesting an impairment in cell wall permeability. An increase in the leakage of intracellular K+ and protein indicated an increase in cell inner membrane permeability. These results revealed that NG and AMK inhibited E. coli by damaging cell walls and membranes. In addition, PI uptake rapidly increased after treatment with NG and AMK. Confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) revealed that NG caused cell wall and cell membrane damage in E. coli. In summary, our results provide a new strategy for responding to the development of E. coli drug resistance.

Local inflammatory microenvironment in the early stage of myocardial infarction (MI) severely impaired cardiac recovery post-MI. Macrophages play a pivotal role in this process. A classical glycolytic inhibitor, 2-Deoxy-Glucose (2-DG), has been found to regulate the excessive pro-inflammatory macrophage polarization in the infarcted myocardium. This study investigated the effect of 2-DG-loaded chitosan/gelatin composite patch on the infarct microenvironment post-MI and its impact on cardiac repair. The results showed that the 2-DG patch significantly inhibited the expression of inflammatory cytokines, alleviated reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation, repressed the proinflammatory polarization of macrophages, attenuated local inflammatory microenvironment in the ischemic hearts, as well as improved cardiac function, reduced scar size, and promoted angiogenesis post-MI. In terms of mechanism, 2-DG exerts anti-inflammatory effects through inhibiting the NF-κB signaling pathway and reducing the assembly and activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome. These findings suggest that 2-DG composite patch may represent a promising therapeutic strategy for cardiac repair after MI.

Gracilaria lamaneiformis, a red seaweed, is an abundant source of bioactive polysaccharides with significant health-promoting properties. Nevertheless, the broad application of G. lamaneiformis in the nutraceutical and pharmaceutical sectors remains constrained due to the absence of comprehensive data. This review provides a detailed examination of the preparation methods, structural characteristics, and biological activities of G. lamaneiformis polysaccharides (GLPs). We explore both conventional and advanced extraction techniques, highlighting the efficiency and yield improvements achieved through methods such as microwave-, ultrasonic-, and enzyme-assisted extraction. The structural elucidation of GLPs using modern analytical techniques, including high-performance liquid chromatography, gas chromatography, and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, is discussed, providing comprehensive insights into their molecular composition and configuration. Furthermore, we critically evaluate the diverse biological activities of GLPs, including their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antitumor, and gut microbiota modulation properties. This review underscores the therapeutic potential of GLPs and suggests future research directions to fully harness their health benefits.

The anatomical structure of the medulla oblongata is complex, its nerve fibers are dense, and its blood vessels are complex. Clinical manifestations of ischemic damage to the medulla oblongata are therefore relatively diverse, and include vertigo, dysphagia, and dysarthria. Although facial paralysis may also occur, medullary infarction with facial paralysis as the first and only symptom is rare. Herein, we report a case of medullary infarction with ipsilateral central facial paralysis as the only symptom.

Salt stress affects the growth of rice, which reduces grain yield. However, the mechanism of the rice response to salt stress is not fully understood. The rice salt tolerance 31 (rst31) mutant exhibits longer shoots and greater dry weight than wild type (WT) plants under salt stress conditions. Through map-based cloning and genetic complementation methods, we determined that RST31 encodes a half-size ABCG transporter protein, ABCG18. We showed that mutation of RST31 reduces DNA damage under salt stress, with less accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). The deficiency of RST31 suppressed the root-to-shoot transport of cytokinin, which resulted in a decrease in cytokinin content in the shoot and an increase in cytokinin content in the root. ROS accumulated abundantly in WT and rst31 mutant plants after exogenous treatment with trans-zeatin, reducing rst31 tolerance of salt stress. Collectively, our results suggest that high cytokinin level in shoots leads to an increase in ROS content and severe DNA damage under salt stress, which lead to sensitivity to salt stress. These findings enhance our understanding of plant responses to salt stress through cytokinin pathways.

Ion transport peptide (ITP) and ITP-like (ITPLs) are pleiotropic bioactive peptides in insects. Although the contribution of these peptides to ecdysis has been studied, the precise regulatory mechanisms remain poorly understood. Here, we characterized the functions of itp and itpl variants in the two-spotted cricket, Gryllus bimaculatus. Reverse transcription-quantitative PCR and whole-mount in situ hybridization revealed that itp was expressed in the brain and terminal abdominal ganglion, whereas itpl variants were expressed in all ganglia of the central nervous system. Simultaneous knockdown of itp and itpls disrupted ecdysis behavior and water transport from the gut into the hemolymph during molting. Nevertheless, knockdown of itpls without influencing itp expression did not significantly affect ecdysis behavior but caused a reduction in hemolymph mass. Although water transport into the hemolymph is considered necessary for the swelling required to split the old cuticle layers during molting, a rescue experiment by injection of water or cricket Ringer's solution into the hemolymph of knockdown crickets did not recover the normal phenotype. Therefore, we propose that ITP/ITPL control ecdysis behavior probably not by regulating water transport from the gut into the hemolymph in crickets.

ß-Branched chiral amines with contiguous stereocenters are valuable building blocks for preparing various biologically active molecules. However, their asymmetric synthesis remains challenging. Herein, we report a highly diastereo- and enantioselective biocatalytic approach for preparing a broad range of ß-branched chiral amines starting from their corresponding racemic ketones. This involves a dynamic kinetic resolution-asymmetric reductive amination process catalyzed using only an imine reductase. Four rounds of protein engineering endowed wild-type PocIRED with higher reactivity, better stereoselectivity, and a broader substrate scope. Using the engineered enzyme, various chiral amine products were synthesized with up to >99.9% ee, >99:1 dr, and >99% conversion. The practicability of the developed biocatalytic method was confirmed by producing a key intermediate of tofacitinib in 74% yield, >99.9% ee, and 98:2 dr at a challenging substrate loading of 110 g L-1. Our study provides a highly capable imine reductase and a protocol for developing an efficient biocatalytic dynamic kinetic resolution-asymmetric reductive amination reaction system.

The aim of this work is to describe a rich set of acoustic transmission loss observations that were completed in a coastal environment. The data library, enumerated in detail and publicly posted, is comprised of pitch-catch acoustic transmission loss measurements along with concurrent high spatial resolution meteorological observations. The meteorological parameters include near-surface temperature profiles, vertical wind speed profiles in the acoustic propagation direction, and significant wave height estimates. The acoustic source is positioned on an anchored vessel such that the first several hundred meters of the acoustic range is over open water with one microphone array positioned at the shore. A second microphone array is placed several hundred meters inland along the same source-to-receiver heading. The path between the two acoustic arrays is uniform salt marsh vegetation. Observations were made during seven sessions, which represent a variety of atmospheric conditions. That variety of conditions allows for some experimental generalizations about transmission loss as a function of meteorological observations. These include (1) the relationship between vertical effective sound speed profile and transmission loss, and (2) the variability of acoustic pressure with turbulence over time and elevation.

This study employed structural and functional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to investigate changes in the function and structure of the cerebellum associated with gut-brain axis (GBA) regulation in patients diagnosed with Crohn's disease (CD). The study comprised 20 CD patients, including 12 with active disease (CD-A) and 8 in remission (CD-R), as well as 21 healthy controls. Voxel-based morphometry (VBM) was utilized for structural analysis of cerebellar gray matter volume, while independent component analysis (ICA) was applied for functional analysis of cerebellar functional connectivity (FC). The results showed significant GMV reduction in the left posterior cerebellar lobe across all CD patients compared to HCs, with more pronounced differences in the CD-A subgroup. Additionally, an increase in mean FC of the cerebellar network was observed in all CD patients, particularly in the CD-A subgroup, which demonstrated elevated FC in the vermis and bilateral posterior cerebellum. Correlation analysis revealed a positive relationship between cerebellar FC and the Crohn's Disease Activity Index (CDAI) and a trend toward a negative association with the reciprocal of the Self-rating Depression Scale (SDS) score in CD patients. The study's findings suggest that the cerebellum may play a role in the abnormal regulation of the GBA in CD patients, contributing to a better understanding of the neural mechanisms underlying CD and highlighting the cerebellum's potential role in modulating gut-brain interactions.

This study aimed to investigate the detrimental impact of cigarettes on lung cells and the potential effects of astragaloside IV on lung epithelial cell oxidative stress and pyroptosis. The research utilized cigarette smoke extract (CSE) to stimulate lung epithelial cells BEAS-2B, assessed cytotoxicity using the CCK-8 method, and measured changes in reactive oxygen species (ROS) and mitochondrial membrane potential with a probe method. Additionally, Seahorse XF24 was employed to analyze the impact of CSE on mitochondria in lung epithelial cells. Furthermore, LPS and cigarette combination-treated mice were created, alveolar damage was evaluated using HE staining, and changes in the key protein GSDMD of pyroptosis were detected using western blot (WB). The study also utilized the CCK-8 method to assess the potential toxic effects of astragaloside IV on lung epithelial cells, and the probe method to monitor changes in ROS and mitochondrial membrane potential. WB analysis was conducted to observe protein alterations in the TXNIP/NLRP3/GSDMD pathway. CSE concentration-dependently reduced cell activity, increased cellular ROS levels, and decreased mitochondrial membrane potential. CSE also decreases basal respiratory capacity, respiratory reserve capacity, and ATP production levels in cells. In LPS and cigarette combination-treated mice, cigarette smoke caused the alveolar septum to break and alveoli to enlarge, while increasing the expression of pyroptosis-related protein GSDMD. Astragaloside IV did not show significant cytotoxic effects within 48 h of treatment and could reduce CSE-induced ROS levels while increasing mitochondrial membrane potential. WB results indicated that astragaloside IV reduced the activation of the TXNIP/NLRP3/GSDMD signaling pathway in lung epithelial cells exposed to CSE. Our study demonstrates that CSE induces oxidative stress and impairs mitochondrial function in pulmonary epithelial cells, while astragaloside IV can potentially reverse these effects by inhibiting the TXNIP-NLRP3-GSDMD signaling pathway, thereby mitigating CSE-induced pulmonary disease and epithelial cell pyroptosis.

Colorectal cancer represents the over-expression of TMEM16A and COX-2, offering a promising therapeutic strategy. Two Pt(iv) conjugates derived from Pt(ii) drug (cisplatin or oxaliplatin) and niflumic acid, complexes 1 and 2, were designed and prepared to exert the positive impact of multiple biological targets of DNA/TMEM16A/COX-2 against colorectal cancer. Complex 2 afforded higher cytotoxicity than 1 and the combination of an intermediate of oxidized oxaliplatin and NFA against cancer cells A549, HeLa, MCF-7, and HCT116. Especially for colorectal cancer cells HCT116, 2 was significantly more toxic (22-fold) and selective to cancer cells against normal HUVEC cells (4-fold) than first-line oxaliplatin. The outstanding anticancer activity of 2 is partly attributed to its dramatic increase in cellular uptake, DNA damage, and apoptosis. Mechanistic studies indicated that 2 inhibited HCT116 cell metastasis by triggering TMEM16A, COX-2, and their downstream signaling pathways, including EGFR, STAT3, E-cadherin and N-cadherin.

miRNAs function as negative regulators that significantly influence plant growth and stress responses. Within rice and other monocotyledonous plants, miR1432 plays a conserved role in seed development and disease resistance. However, its involvement in the response to abiotic stresses remains unclear. Our study aimed to elucidate this mechanism by predicting the targeting of the rice P-type IIB Ca2+ ATPase gene OsACAs by miR1432 and identifying its cleavage sites via 5'RACE. We observed induced expression of miR1432 and its target gene, OsACA6, under abiotic stresses. Overexpression (OX) of miR1432 and suppression of OsACA6 resulted in reduced cold, salt, and drought tolerance, while OsACA6 suppression/knockout and OX had opposite effects on cold tolerance. Additionally, miR1432 may target other OsACA6 homologs. RNA-sequencing data highlighted the differential expression of stress-related genes in miR1432-overexpressing rice. Furthermore, miR1432-overexpressing rice exhibited weakened vigor, dwarfism, yellowing leaves and reduced fertility. Collectively, our results strongly suggest that miR1432 not only negatively modulates abiotic stress tolerance by suppressing Ca2+ ATPase gene(s) but also influences plant growth and development.

BACKGROUND: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), a common respiratory disease, can be effectively treated by traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Qingfei Huatan, a TCM formula, has been reported to effectively alleviate the clinical symptoms of COPD patients. However, there is a lack of multi-centre, randomised, double-blind, controlled clinical trials documenting the clinical efficacy and safety of this formula in the treatment of acute exacerbation of COPD (AECOPD). OBJECTIVE: This study evaluated the efficacy and safety of Qingfei Huatan formula in the treatment of AECOPD, thereby providing high-quality clinical evidence. DESIGN, SETTING, PARTICIPANTS AND INTERVENTIONS: A total of 276 patients with AECOPD were included in this multi-centre, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial and were randomised into treatment and control groups at a ratio of 1:1. Patients in the treatment and control groups took Qingfei Huatan granules or simulated Qingfei Huatan granules twice a day, for 14 days, in addition to Western medicine treatment. All patients were followed up for 3 months. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The primary outcome was time taken to symptom stabilisation. The secondary outcomes included duration of antibiotic use, clinical symptom and sign score, TCM syndrome score, dyspnoea score, and quality of life (QOL) score. Meanwhile, the safety of the formula was assessed through routine urine and stool tests, electrocardiograms, liver and kidney function tests, and the observation of adverse events throughout the trial. RESULTS: The time taken for effective stabilisation (P < 0.05) and obvious stabilisation (P < 0.01), and the duration of antibiotic use (P < 0.05) were significantly shorter in the treatment group than in the control group. On days 6, 9, 12 and 14 of treatment, clinical symptom and sign score decreased in both groups, particularly in the treatment group (P < 0.01). On days 9, 12 and 14 of treatment, the TCM syndrome scores of both groups were reduced (P < 0.01), with more significant reductions in the treatment group. At 3 months after the end of treatment, the treatment group continued to have lower clinical symptom and sign score and TCM syndrome score than the control group (P < 0.01). On days 6, 9, 12 and 14 of treatment, dyspnoea and QOL scores were markedly reduced in the two groups (P < 0.05 and P < 0.01, respectively), especially in the treatment group. At 3 months after the end of treatment, dyspnoea and QOL scores were lower in the treatment group than those in the control group (P < 0.01). No serious adverse events were observed in either group. CONCLUSION: The Qingfei Huatan formula can effectively shorten the duration of AECOPD and antibiotic use, significantly relieve clinical symptoms, and increase QOL for AECOPD patients, with a favourable safety profile. These results suggest that this formula can be used as a complementary treatment for AECOPD patients. The secondary structures of polypeptides, such as an α-helix and a ß-sheet, often impart specific properties and functions, making the regulation of their secondary structures of great significance. Particularly, water-soluble polypeptides bearing a ß-sheet conformation are rare and challenging to achieve. Here, a series of oligo(ethylene glycol)-modified lysine N-carboxylic anhydrides (EGmK-NCA, where m = 1-3) and the corresponding polymers EGmKn are synthesized, with urethane bonds as the linker between the side-chain EG and lysine. The secondary structure of EGmKn is delicately regulated by both m and n, the length (number of repeating units) of EG and the degree of polymerization (DP), respectively. Among them, EG2Kn adopts a ß-sheet conformation with good water solubility at an appropriate DP and forms physically cross-linked hydrogels at a concentration as low as 1 wt %. The secondary structures of EG1Kn can be tuned by DP, exhibiting either a ß-sheet or an α-helix, whereas EG3Kn appears to a adopt pure and stable α-helix with no dependence on DP. Compared to previous works reporting EG-modified lysine-derived polypeptides bearing exclusively an α-helix conformation, this work highlights the important and unexpected role of the urethane connecting unit and provides useful case studies for understanding the secondary structure of polypeptides.

Background Preoperative local-regional tumor staging of gastric cancer (GC) is critical for appropriate treatment planning. The comparative accuracy of multiparametric MRI (mpMRI) versus dual-energy CT (DECT) for staging of GC is not known. Purpose To compare the diagnostic accuracy of personalized mpMRI with that of DECT for local-regional T and N staging in patients with GC receiving curative surgical intervention. Materials and Methods Patients with GC who underwent gastric mpMRI and DECT before gastrectomy with lymphadenectomy were eligible for this single-center prospective noninferiority study between November 2021 and September 2022. mpMRI comprised T2-weighted imaging, multiorientational zoomed diffusion-weighted imaging, and extradimensional volumetric interpolated breath-hold examination dynamic contrast-enhanced imaging. Dual-phase DECT images were reconstructed at 40 keV and standard 120 kVp-like images. Using gastrectomy specimens as the reference standard, the diagnostic accuracy of mpMRI and DECT for T and N staging was compared by six radiologists in a pairwise blinded manner. Interreader agreement was assessed using the weighted κ and Kendall W statistics. The McNemar test was used for head-to-head accuracy comparisons between DECT and mpMRI. Results This study included 202 participants (mean age, 62 years ± 11 [SD]; 145 male). The interreader agreement of the six readers for T and N staging of GC was excellent for both mpMRI (κ = 0.89 and 0.85, respectively) and DECT (κ = 0.86 and 0.84, respectively). Regardless of reader experience, higher accuracy was achieved with mpMRI than with DECT for both T (61%-77% vs 50%-64%; all P < .05) and N (54%-68% vs 51%-58%; P = .497-.005) staging, specifically T1 (83% vs 65%) and T4a (78% vs 68%) tumors and N1 (41% vs 24%) and N3 (64% vs 45%) nodules (all P < .05). Conclusion Personalized mpMRI was superior in T staging and noninferior or superior in N staging compared with DECT for patients with GC. Clinical trial registration no. Platinum(II) drugs as a first-line anticancer reagent are limited by side effects and drug resistance. Stimuli-responsive nanosystems hold promise for precise spatiotemporal manipulation of drug delivery, with the aim to promote bioavailability and minimize side effects. Herein, a multitargeting octahedral platinum(IV) prodrug with octadecyl aliphatic chain and histone deacetylase inhibitor (phenylbutyric acid, PHB) at axial positions to improve the therapeutic effect of cisplatin was loaded on the upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) through hydrophobic interaction. Followed attachment of DSPE-PEG2000 and arginine-glycine-aspartic (RGD) peptide endowed the nanovehicles with high biocompatibility and tumor specificity. The fabricated nanoparticles (UCNP/Pt(IV)-RGD) can be triggered by upconversion luminescence (UCL) irradiation and glutathione (GSH) reduction to controllably release Pt(II) species and PHB, inducing profound cytotoxicity. Both in vitro and in vivo experiments demonstrated that UCNP/Pt(IV)-RGD exhibited remarkable antitumor efficiency, high tumor-targeting specificity, and real-time UCL imaging capacity, presenting an intelligent platinum(IV) prodrug-loaded nanovehicle for UCL-guided dual-stimuli-responsive combination therapy.

BACKGROUND: Accumulating evidence suggests that the inflammatory cytokine interleukin-6 (IL-6) contributes to the pathophysiology of psychiatric disorders. However, there was no study concerning the relationship between IL-6 concentrations and clinical features in the chronic phase of early-onset schizophrenia (EOS). AIM: To investigate the relationship between serum IL-6 concentration and the clinical features of EOS. METHODS: We measured serum IL-6 Levels from 74 patients with chronic schizophrenia, including 33 with age at onset < 21 years (EOS group) and 41 with onset ≥ 21 years in [adult-onset schizophrenia (AOS) group], and from 41 healthy controls. Symptom severities were evaluated using the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS). RESULTS: Serum IL-6 concentrations were higher in both EOS and AOS groups than healthy controls (F = 22.32, P < 0.01), but did not differ significantly between EOS and AOS groups (P > 0.05) after controlling for age, body mass index, and other covariates. Negative symptom scores were higher in the EOS group than the AOS group (F = 6.199, P = 0.015). Serum IL-6 concentrations in the EOS group were negatively correlated with both total PANSS-negative symptom score (r = -0.389, P = 0.032) and avolition/asociality subscore (r = -0.387, P = 0.026). CONCLUSION: Patients with EOS may have more severe negative symptoms than those with adult-onset schizophrenia during the chronic phase of the illness. IL-6 signaling may regulate negative symptoms and its avolition/asociality subsymptoms among the early-onset chronic schizophrenic patients.

A 60-years-old man with previous hypertension was hospitalized because of colonoscopy revealed a cecal submucosal mass for community health examination 1 month ago. The patient has no symptoms such as poor appetite, fatigue, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting. Laboratory tests and physical examination was unremarkable. A protrusion with multiple superficial small ulcers on the smooth surface measuring 1.5 × 2.0-cm was found beside the appendiceal orifice by colonoscopy. Abdominal computed tomography demonstrated a high-density mass without enhancement protruding towards the ileocecal cavity at the appendiceal orifice measured 1.5 × 1.8 cm. Laparoscopic ileocecal resection was performed because of appendiceal tumor couldn't be excluded and the patient's strong request. Pathology examination of the postoperative specimen revealed dilated appendix cavity with fecalith inside in the submucosal layer of the ileocecal region. The patient was diagnosed as appendiceal orifice submucosal fecalith. He was discharged home uneventfully and no symptoms was observed in 3 months follow-up.
