RESUMEN

In experiments on mice AKR the authors investigated the effects which could be produced by cyclic fasting on the mice survival. It was found that one of the variants of this fasting noticeably prolongs the survival of the animals. The proportion of the animals that died of acute lymphoid leukemia among other causes of death declined.

RESUMEN

To study the influence of cyclophosphamide and methotrexate on the function of isolated perfused liver, and the hepatoprotective effect of starvation and parenteral glucose feeding, the authors conducted 57 tests on the rabbit liver. It was established that addition of cyclophosphamide, and, especially, of methotrexate into the perfusate negatively affected the function of the isolated perfused liver. Parenteral glucose feeding produced a protective effect on the isolated liver against the detrimental action of both methotrexate and cyclophosphamide.

RESUMEN

An investigation was carried out on 59 mice of high leukemic line C-58. It is shown that aseptic inflammation inhibited the leukemic process in mice with transplantable leukemia, stimulated the myeloid sprout of hemopoiesis and suppressed the lymphoid one, and also decreased the spleen and thymus mass.

RESUMEN

Polyamines levels were studied in various tissue specimens obtained from high-leukemia AKR mice aged 12 months and less. Organ tissues of leukemic animals revealed increased levels of polyamines and changes in their profile. In symptomatic mice, this was matched by relevant morphologic changes. It is inferred that putrescine is a marker of latent leukemia development.

RESUMEN

alpha-Tocopherol and prednisolone exhibited the highest antiischemic activity, while lidocaine and sodium glutamate were less active after administration into isolated perfused rabbit liver tissue subjected to 60-min thermic ischemia. Chlorpromazine.HCl did not affect the biochemical patterns studied in isolated perfused liver tissue.

RESUMEN

The efficiency of the element nutrition with glucose and alvezin and fasting as means of the antiischemic defense was studied in 50 experiments in perfusion of the isolated liver on rabbits previously subjected to 18-20 minute heat ischemia. The parenteral administration of glucose and graded fasting were shown to be most effective for the antiischemic defense of the liver.

RESUMEN

As shown in 24 experiments using 60-min normothermic perfusion of isolated liver tissue from rabbit, guinea pig and rat, the tissues from guinea pig and rat proved to be more resistant to the impairing effect of hypoxia; besides, there was the higher rate of main energy producing processes--tissue respiration and glycolysis. This suggests that resistance of isolated liver tissue to the effect of hypoxia, involved in the processes of tissue damage in storage, depended directly on intensity of energetic reactions in the tissue.

RESUMEN

The search for optimal concentrations of fumarate, malate, acetate, lactate, asparginate and sulphate in the perfusate was performed in 187 experiments with 2 h perfusion of the isolated rabbit liver at different temperature regimens of conservation. Nonlinear relation between the optimal anion composition of the perfusate and temperature of the liver conservation was found. The critical point in changes of the optimal concentrations of anions in the perfusate was shown to be 10-12 degrees C.
