OBJECTIVE: To study the association of inflammatory factors and hepatocarcinoma stem cells of induced liver cancer rats. MATERIALS AND METHODS: 30 SD male healthy rats were selected. 10 rats were given water as normal control group. 10 rats only were implemented laparotomy as sham operation group. The remaining 10 rats were the liver cancer model group and treated with diethylnitrosamine (DEN) to induce liver cancer. Real-time quantitative PCR was used to detect the related inflammatory factors in HCC tissues, including interleukin-6 (IL-6), monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1), transforming growth factor-ß1 (TGF-ß), human interleukin-1α (IL-1α), human interleukin 1ß (IL-1ß) and levels of hepatocarcinoma stem cells indicators CD90, CD133, Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP). Correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation between inflammatory factors and hepatocarcinoma stem cells markers CD90 and CD133. RESULTS: The expression levels of IL-6, MCP-1 and TGF-ß of HCC tissues in liver cancer model group were significantly higher than those in the control group and the sham operation group. The expression levels of CD90 and CD133 of tissues in the liver cancer model group were significantly higher than those in the control group and the sham operation group. The differences were statistically significant (p<0.001). By inhibiting related inflammatory factors, the growth, migration and invasion of liver cancer cells were significantly inhibited, and apoptosis was promoted. Correlation analysis results showed that the expression changes of IL-6, MCP-1 and TGF-ß were significantly positively correlated with CD90 up-regulation (p<0.05), while the expression changes of IL-6, MCP-1 and TGF-ß were significantly positively correlated with CD133 up-regulation (p<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The inflammatory factors IL-6, MCP-1 and TGF-ß are closely related to hepatocarcinoma stem cells, which play an important role in promoting the occurrence and deterioration of liver cancer.

Schisandra is a widely used herb in traditional Chinese medicine. It can maintain the balance of bone reconstruction and play an important role in promoting osteoblast differentiation, regulating osteoclast activity and protecting cartilage tissue. It provides a broad prospect for the treatment of osteoporosis, osteoarthritis and some other diseases. In this paper, the action mechanism of schisandra chinensis and its active components in bone reconstruction was reviewed in order to provide theoretical basis for its product development and application in bone tissue engineering.

Objective: To evaluate the value of p16INK4a detected by p16INK4a immunostaining as a new generation of cervical cytology for primary screening and secondary screening in population-based cervical cancer screening, and in improving cytological diagnosis. Methods: Between 2016 and 2018, 5 747 non-pregnant women aged 25-65 years with sexual history were recruited and underwent cervical cancer screening via high-risk (HR)-HPV/liquid-based cytological test (LCT) test in Shenzhen and surrounding areas. All slides were immuno-stained using p16INK4a technology, among them, 902 cases were offered p16INK4a detection during primary screening, and the remaining 4 845 cases were called-back by the virtue of abnormal HR-HPV and LCT results for p16INK4a staining. Participants with complete LCT examination, HR-HPV test, p16INK4a staining and histopathological examination results were included in this study. The performance of p16INK4a in primary and secondary screening, and in assisting cytology to detect high grade squamous intraepithelial lesion [HSIL, including cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) Ⅱ or Ⅲ] or worse [HSIL (CIN Ⅱ)+ or HSIL (CIN Ⅲ)+] were analyzed. Results: (1) One-thousand and ninety-seven cases with complete data of p16INK4a and histology were included. Pathological diagnosis: 995 cases of normal cervix, 37 cases of low grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (LSIL), 64 cases of HSIL and one case of cervical cancer were found. Among them, 65 cases of HSIL (CIN Ⅱ)+ and 34 cases of HSIL (CIN Ⅲ)+ were detected. The positive rate of p16INK4a in HSIL (CIN Ⅱ)+ was higher than that in CINⅠ or normal pathology (89.2% vs 10.2%; P<0.01). (2) p16INK4a as primary screening for HSIL (CIN Ⅱ)+ or HSIL (CIN Ⅲ)+ was equally sensitive to primary HR-HPV screening (89.2% vs 95.4%, 94.1% vs 94.1%; P>0.05), but more specific than HR-HPV screening (89.8% vs 82.5%, 87.7% vs 80.2%; P<0.05). p16INK4a was equally sensitive and similarly specific to cytology (≥LSIL; P>0.05). (3) The specificity of LCT adjunctive p16INK4a for detecting HSIL (CIN Ⅱ)+ or HSIL (CIN Ⅲ)+ were higher than that of LCT alone or adjunctive HR-HPV (P<0.01), while the sensitivity were similar (P>0.05). (4) p16INK4a staining as secondary screening: p16INK4a was significantly more specific (94.1% vs 89.7%, 91.9% vs 87.4%; P<0.01) and comparably sensitive (84.6% vs 90.8%, 88.2% vs 91.2%; P>0.05) to cytology for triaging primary HR-HPV screening. HPV 16/18 to colposcopy and triage other HR-HPV with p16INK4a was equally sensitive (88.2% vs 94.1%; P=0.500) and more specific (88.3% vs 83.0%; P<0.01) than HPV 16/18 to colposcopy and triage other HR-HPV with LCT≥ atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance (ASCUS), and the referral rate decreased (14.0% vs 19.4%; P=0.005). Conclusions: For primary screening, p16INK4a is equally specific to cytology and equally sensitive to HR-HPV screening. p16INK4a alone could be an efficient triage after primary HR-HPV screening. In addition, p16INK4a immunostaining could be used as an ancillary tool to cervical cytological diagnosis, and improves its accuracy in cervical cancer screening.

Objective: To evaluate long-term clinical outcome of implant-supported fixed prosthesis with the guidance of computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) surgical template in old patients. Methods: Fifteen 50-67(58.6±5.3) year-old patients (11 males and 4 females) who received the digital implant surgery with the guidance of CAD/CAM surgical template and implant-supported fixed prosthesis in Department of Oral Implantology, Yantai Stomatological Hospital Affiliated to Binzhou Medical College from August, 2013 to Janurary, 2016 were included. There are 15 edentulous maxillas, 8 edentulous mandibles on which 145 implants were placed in total. After the placement of implant, the accuracy of CAD/CAM surgical template was assessed by comparing the post-operative 3-dimensional location of implant with the pre-operative design. The 5-year survival rate of implant and prosthesis was recorded, and marginal bone loss around implants and the development of complication were evaluated by radiological and clinical examination respectively. Results: The result on accuracy of CAD/CAM surgical template showed that deviations in neck and apex of implants were (0.78±0.59) and (1.38±0.63) mm respectively, depth deviation was (0.65±0.35) mm and angle deviation was 4.12°±2.77°. The 5-year cumulative survival rate of implants was 98.6%(143/145). In all 145 implants, the prevalence of implant-related biological complication was 4.1%(6/145). The prosthesis-related mechanical complication rate was 57%(13/23). After 5-year function, mean peri-implant bone loss was (0.69±0.35) mm. Conclusions: This 5-year follow-up retrospective study showed that implant-supported fixed prosthesis with the guidance of CAD/CAM surgical template in middle aged and elderly patients could achieve good long-term clinical outcome and patient satisfaction.

OBJECTIVE: Our purpose was to assess the relationship between circ_0005276 and clinical features of epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC), and to illustrate the regulatory effect of circ_0005276 on migratory potential in EOC cells. PATIENTS AND METHODS: EOC tissues and adjacent normal ones were collected from 49 EOC patients. Relative levels of circ_0005276 and ADAM9 in EOC tissues were determined by quantitative Real Time-Polymerase Chain Reaction (qRT-PCR). The relationship between circ_0005276 and clinical features of EOC patients was analyzed. Moreover, migratory potentials of CAOV3 and SKOV3 cells affected by circ_0005276 were examined by transwell and wound healing assay. Regulatory effects of circ_0005276/ADAM9 feedback loop on the development of EOC were finally detected by Luciferase assay and rescue experiments. RESULTS: It was found that circ_0005276 was upregulated in EOC tissues and its level was positively linked to rates of lymphatic metastasis and distant metastasis in EOC patients. Survival analysis showed worse OS and DFS in EOC patients expressing a high level of circ_0005276 than those with a low level. Besides, knockdown of circ_0005276 attenuated migratory potentials in EOC cells. ADAM9 was verified to be the target gene binding circ_0005276, and its level was positively regulated by circ_0005276. Notably, circ_0005276 aggravated the development of EOC by targeting ADAM9. CONCLUSIONS: Circ_0005276 is highly expressed in EOC tissues, and its level is positively linked to metastasis. Serving as an unfavorable gene in the prognosis of EOC, circ_0005276 aggravates the development of EOC by upregulating ADAM9.

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlations of hsa_circ_0046264 expression with the onset, pathological stage, and chemotherapy resistance of lung cancer. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Firstly, gene expression profiling microarrays were applied to screen the differentially expressed circular ribonucleic acids (circRNAs) in the tumor tissues of patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Secondly, quantitative Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-qPCR) assay was adopted to further verify the circRNAs with significant differences. Thirdly, the correlations of hsa_circ_0046264 expression level with the clinical features of NSCLC patients were explored via statistical analysis. Fourthly, Kaplan-Meier survival analysis and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve were utilized to investigate the influence of hsa_circ_0046264 expression level on the survival of the patients. Finally, the role of hsa_circ_0046264 in the process of lung cancer was probed using in vitro experimental methods. RESULTS: It was shown in the results of gene microarray assay that hsa_circ_0046264 was the most prominently upregulated gene, and RT-qPCR assay further proved that hsa_circ_0046264 expression was upregulated remarkably in the tissues of tumor patients. Clinical analysis indicated that the expression level of hsa_circ_0046264 was notably associated with the patient's age, tumor size, tumor-node-metastasis (TNM) stage, and lymph node metastasis (p<0.01). In addition, Kaplan-Meier statistical analysis manifested that the patients in hsa_circ_0046264 low-expression group had a markedly longer survival than those in hsa_circ_0046264 high-expression group. In the tumor tissues and serum of the patients, the area under ROC curve of hsa_circ_0046264 was 0.971 and 0.915, the specificity was 0.973 and 0.957, and the sensitivity was 0.951 and 0.927, while the Youden Index was 0.924 and 0.884 respectively. The results of Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) assay revealed that the proliferative ability of lung cancer A549 cells was significantly enhanced at 36, 48, and 72 h in hsa_circ_0046264 overexpression group. According to the results of wound-healing assay, the migratory ability of A549 cells was distinctly strengthened in hsa_circ_0046264 overexpression group compared with that in the control group (p<0.05). Moreover, the transwell assay results pointed out that the invasive ability of A549 cell lines at 48 h after overexpression of hsa_circ_0046264 was evidently stronger than that in control group (p<0.05). Under the stimulation of different doses of cisplatin, hsa_circ_0046264 overexpression group had a clearly raised survival rate of A549 cells in comparison with control group, and the differences in data were statistically significant (p<0.01). CONCLUSIONS: Hsa_circ_0046264 may serve as a potential biomarker for the diagnosis and prognosis and a possible therapeutic target of lung cancer.

In this study, we explored the effect of dietary lead nitrate on zootechnical performance, egg quality, accumulation of ovarian plumbum (Pb), follicular atresia rate, and ovarian oxidative stress in laying hens. Furthermore, the nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) signaling molecule was studied to reveal the molecular mechanism of the stress. A total of 512 Hy-Line Brown laying hens aged 40 wk were randomly allocated to 4 groups (with 8 pens per group and 16 hens per pen). The Pb concentrations used to treat the 4 groups were 3.20, 33.20, 63.20, and 93.20 mg/kg. The results revealed that dietary Pb exposure significantly linearly reduced the zootechnical performance (P < 0.01) but significantly linearly increased the feed conversion ratio (P < 0.01). The dietary Pb exposure significantly linearly reduced the Haugh units (P < 0.01), albumen height (P < 0.01), eggshell thickness (P < 0.01), and eggshell strength (P < 0.01). In addition, the dietary Pb exposure significantly enhanced the follicular atresia rate (P < 0.01). After dietary Pb exposure, superoxide dismutase (P < 0.01) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) (P < 0.01) activities and glutathione (P < 0.01) contents were significant decreased quadratically, and there were significant linear decreases in the activities of catalase (CAT) (P < 0.01) and glutathione reductase (GR) (P < 0.01), whereas malondialdehyde content was significantly linearly increased (P < 0.01). In addition, except for manganese superoxide dismutase, the gene expressions of copper-zinc superoxide dismutase (P < 0.01), CAT (P < 0.01), and GR (P < 0.01) were significant decreased linearly. In addition, there were significantly quadratic decreases in the mRNA expressions of GSH-Px (P < 0.01) and Nrf2 (P < 0.01). By way of contrast, the Kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1 (Keap1) gene expression was significantly linearly increased (P < 0.01). In conclusion, dietary Pb exposure could induce oxidative stress by impairing the Nrf2-Keap1 signal pathway in the ovaries of laying hens.

Objective: To evaluate and share the novel method for recruiting participants in clinical trials of vaccines in emergency situations. Methods: To publish recruitment notice in local areas of Wuhan through websites and medium, and guide interested persons to log in to the"Clinical Trials of SARS-CoV-2 Vaccine Reservation and Health Declaration System"to appoint and register their health information. The "Health Declaration System" provides each volunteer evaluation and risk levels to preliminarily exclude those who do not meet the inclusion criteria. Researchers review the qualified volunteers by telephone, organize them to go to the vaccination site, and finally conduct a strict medical screening to determine the final subjects. Results: A total of 4 819 people and 5 132 people registered in the Phase Ⅰ and Phase Ⅱ recruitment system respectively, with men 2 912 (60.43%) and 2 887 (56.25%) more than women 1 907 (39.57%) and 2 245 (43.75%), mostly in the 20-39 age group, with 3 211 (66.63%) and 3 966 (77.28%). All 13 districts in Wuhan have interested residents to participate clinical research.The initial qualified rate of the Phase Ⅱ recruitment system was higher than that of Phase Ⅰ, with men 2 047 (70.28%) and 2 135(73.95%), higher than women 1 083 (56.80%) and 1 472 (65.57%); 440 and 689 people were reviewed by telephone in Phase Ⅰ and Phase Ⅱ respectively, and the number of verified volunteers was about 440 (35.00%) and 689 (67.20%); Of the 201 603 people who arrived at the vaccination site, 12 and 26 of them were positive for the SARS-CoV-2 antibody with an antibody positive rate of 6.00% and 4.31% respectively. Conclusion: The novel method for recruiting subjects in this clinical study is efficient and reliable, and the recruitment situation of Phase Ⅰ had set a good example for Phase Ⅱ but the medium-and long-term compliance of subjects and the separation of willingness and behaviors still need to be further studied.

RESUMEN

The vacuum ultraviolet beamline BL03U with a photon energy range from 7 eV upwards has been constructed at the 3.5 GeV Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility. Equipped with an APPLE-Knot undulator, this beamline is dedicated to angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. An energy-resolving power of higher than 4.6 × 104 has been achieved in the photon energy range 21.6-48 eV, which is almost the same as the theoretical estimation.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the clinical effects and characteristics of combined transperineal and transpubic urethroplasty for patients with complex pelvic fracture urethral distraction defect (PFUDD). METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed the clinical data of 17 male patients with complex posterior PFUDD from January 2010 to December 2019. The complications included urethrorectal fistulas in 2 patients (11.8%), urethroperineal fistula in 1 patient (5.9%). Ten patients had undergone previous treatments: dilatation in 3 patients (17.6%), internal urethrotomy in 1 patient, failed urethroplasty in 6 patients (35.3%), of whom 2 patients had two times of failed urethroplasties. All the patients were performed with urethroplasty by combined transperineal and transpubic approach with removing the entire pubic bone followed by the anastomosis. RESULTS: The mean age of the patients included in this study was 35.5 (range: 21-62) years. The mean length of stricture was 5.5 (range: 4.5-7.0) cm, the mean follow-up was 27 (range: 7-110) months, the mean time of operation was 190 (range: 150-260) min, the mean evaluated blood loss was 460 (range: 200-1 200) mL. There were 5 patients who needed blood transfusion intraoperatively or postoperatively. Wound infection was seen in 4 out of 17 patients and thrombosis of lower extremities in 1 out of 17 patients. The last follow-up showed that the mean postoperative maximum urinary flow rate was 22.7 (range: 15.5-40.7) mL/s. After removing the catheter, one patient presented with decreased urinary flow and symptoms of urinary infection. Cystoscopy showed the recurrent anastomotic stricture, which was cured by internal urethrotomy. In our series, the success rate of the combined transperineal and transpubic urethroplasty was 94.1% (16/17). CONCLUSION: Combined transperineal and transpubic urtheroplasty can achieve a tension free anastomosis after removing the entire wedge of pubis in some patients with complex PFUDD. However, this procedure should be completed in a regional referral hospital due to the complexity of the operation and the high percentage of complications.

The present study was conducted to investigate effects of feed intake during late gestation on piglet birth weight and reproductive performance of sows. At d 90 of gestation (Gd90), a total of 397 Landrance × Large White gilts (parity 1) and sows (parities 2, 3, and 4) were randomly assigned to three groups according to feed intake, 2.8 kg/d (energy maintenance requirement for gilts and sows, 8.40 Mcal/d ME), 3.6 kg/d (10.26 Mcal/d ME), and 4.0 kg/d (11.40 Mcal/d ME), respectively. All gilts and sows were individually fed. Results indicate the increase in feed intake had no effect on birth weight and uniformity of piglet weight at parturition for sows with different backfat thickness (BF) at Gd90 or with different parities. Additionally, lactation body weight (BW) loss was greater (P < 0.05) in response to the greater feed intake during late gestation. Furthermore, there were no correlations between feed intake during late gestation and litter weight, average piglet birth weight, coefficient variation of within-litter birth weight (CVB), number of piglets with birth weight < 1.00 kg, and piglet weaning weight. In addition, the greater feed intake during late gestation led to a marked increase in reactive oxygen species and malondialdehyde (P < 0.05) and glutamine peroxidase tended to be less (P = 0.08) in plasma at parturition. In conclusion, the greater feed intake (exceeding energy requirement for maintenance) during late gestation had no effect on piglet birth weight or weaning weight, and led to greater oxidative stress at parturition and greater BW loss during lactation.

BACKGROUND: To compare the efficacy of one initial intravitreal injection of conbercept (IVC) versus three monthly IVCs in patients with macular edema (ME) after branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO). Both options were followed by a pro re nata (PRN) retreatment regimen. METHODS: This study retrospectively investigated and followed 60 patients with acute ME secondary to BRVO for over a year. 30 subjects received one initial injection (1 + PRN group); while, 30 received three monthly injections (3 + PRN group). The functional and anatomic outcomes were assessed during each follow-up. RESULTS: The general characteristics of the 60 subjects were as follows: mean [SD] age, 57.43 [13.06] years; 33 [55%] female; 36 [60%] non-ischemic form. Both groups showed a stable gain in visual acuity (VA) with similar logMAR (mean ± SD) (1 + PRN group 0.308 ± 0.399, 3 + PRN group 0.34 ± 0.352) during the first 12 months. Additionally, both groups exhibited a significant reduction in central foveal thickness (CFT) with no statistically significant difference between them (1 + PRN group 222.1 µm ± 197.1 µm, 3 + PRN group 228.4 µm ± 200.2 µm). Both treatment groups had similar improvements in logMAR and anatomic outcomes over time. The stratified analysis showed that patients with the non-ischemic form and those with the ischemic form had similar improvements in VA (0.346 ± 0.366 VS 0.29 ± 0.39, P = 0.575) during the 12 months follow-ups. The number of injections was lower in the 1 + PRN group (4.0 ± 1.6) than in the 3 + PRN group (4.7 ± 1.3) (P = 0.068). No adverse effects or unexpected safety issues were reported in either group. CONCLUSIONS: Conbercept yielded significant improvements in VA and CFT among patients with BRVO induced ME, independent of their retinal ischemia status. The results showed that the 3 + PRN regimen do not lead to better functional outcomes or lower treatment needs in clinical practice as compared to the 1 + PRN regimen.

Objective: To detect karyotype homology of vaginal isolates from patients with recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis (RVVC) in recurrent episodes, and to discuss changes of susceptibility of Candida strains to antifungal drugs with clinical progress. Method: s Ten patients were recruited from Beijing Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, Capital Medical University from September 2018 to June 2019, who were firstly diagnosed with RVVC. Vaginal discharges were collected before first treatment and after first relapse. Vaginal strains were isolated, purificated and identificated. Then karyotype of 20 strains isolated from 10 patients were detected by restriction endonuclease analysis of genomic DNA (REAG) using enzyme BssHⅡand pulsed field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) methods, and sensitivity of clinical isolates to 5 antifungal drugs (clostridium, fluconazole, miconazole, itraconazole and nystatin) was also detected using disk diffusion method. Result: s (1) All 20 strains of 10 patients with RVVC were Candida albicans, and their chromosomes were extremely similar after BssHⅡ enzyme digestion. The gene bands of isolated strains from the same patient were completely identical. (2) After clinical medication, the sensitivity of vaginal isolates to azoles was generally decreased, but remained highly sensitive to nystatin, nystatin (first and second clinical isolates: 100% sensitivity and 100% sensitivity)>clotrimazole (100% sensitivity and 90% sensitivity)>fluconazole (80% sensitivity and 70% sensitivity)>itraconazole (60% sensitivity and 50% sensitivity)>miconazole (30% sensitivity and 20% sensitivity). Conclusions: (1) The latency of the same colonized strain in the vagina may be the cause of repeated RVVC episodes. (2) Antifungal agents could selectively induce drug resistance to Candidas, and Candidas show cross-resistance to antifungal agents. Repeated fungal culture and drug sensitivity test in patients with RVVC are very necessary for correct selection of antifungals.

OBJECTIVE: Abnormal expression of micro ribonucleic acids (miRNAs) has become an important marker of cancer. However, the exact molecular mechanisms of miRNAs were not very clear. Here, we decided to investigate the miR-19 effect and molecular mechanism on pancreatic cancer, which was blank until now. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) analysis was applied for testing miR-19 and gene of phosphate and tensin homolog deleted on chromosome ten (PTEN) expression. Western blot was used for detecting the protein expression. Methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium (MTT) assay and transwell assay were carried out to measure cell proliferation, invasion, and migration. RESULTS: We showed that miR-19 expression was increased in cancerous tissues and was associated with the survival of patients, tumor node metastasis (TNM) stage, tumor size, and lymph node metastasis. MiR-19 mimic enhanced cell proliferation, invasion, and migration, while suppressing miR-19 cell progression was suppressed. With the help of TargetScanHuman and luciferase reporter assay, we verified PTEN as a specific target of miR-19. Moreover, PTEN expression was reduced by miR-19 mimic and was increased by miR-19 inhibitor. We next found that PTEN was elevated in cancerous tissues and its expression was negatively correlated with miR-19 expression. Furthermore, miR-19 regulated cell progression via activating phosphatidylinositol 3-hydroxy kinase/protein kinase B (PI3K/AKT) signaling pathway. CONCLUSIONS: We demonstrated that miR-19 facilitated cell progression through modulating PI3K/AKT signaling pathway by targeting PTEN, which provided a potential therapeutic target for pancreatic cancer patients.

Topological nodal-line semimetals with exotic quantum properties are characterized by symmetry-protected line-contact bulk band crossings in the momentum space. However, in most of identified topological nodal-line compounds, these topological nontrivial nodal lines are enclosed by complicated topological trivial states at the Fermi energy (E_{F}), which would perplex their identification and hinder further applications. Utilizing angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy and first-principles calculations, we provide compelling evidence for the existence of Dirac nodal-line fermions in the monoclinic semimetal SrAs_{3}, which possesses a simple nodal loop in the vicinity of E_{F} without the distraction from complicated trivial Fermi surfaces. Our calculations revealed that two bands with opposite parities were inverted around Y near E_{F}, resulting in the single nodal loop at the Γ-Y-S plane with a negligible spin-orbit coupling effect. The band crossings were tracked experimentally and the complete nodal loop was identified quantitatively, which provide a critical experimental support for the existence of nodal-line fermions in the CaP_{3} family of materials. Hosting simple topological nontrivial bulk electronic states around E_{F} and without complication from the trivial states, SrAs_{3} is expected to be a potential platform for topological quantum state investigation and applications.

Effectiveness of biological activated carbon (BAC) filter in removing disinfection byproducts (DBPs) precursors of micro-polluted lake water for one year was conducted. The formation potential (FP) of DBPs (trihalomethanes (THMs), haloacetic acids (HAAs) and Nitrosamines (NAs)), dissolved organic carbon (DOC), molecular weight (MW) distribution and excitation emission matrix fluorescence (EEM) of dissolved organic material (DOM) in the influent and effluent of BAC were determined. The results indicated that the removal efficiency (RE) of DOC ranged from 42.9-28.3%. Neither virgin GAC nor long-term operated BAC could efficiently dispose of THMs and HAAs precursors (RE from 35.2-18.8%, from 42 to 8.4%, respectively), however, BAC still showed good ability in removal of NAs precursors after a year operation, of which RE just dropped from 81.7-69.6%. There was strong correlation between RE of NAs precursors and DOC with small MW (<0.5 kDa). The removal of HAAs precursors showed relatively close relation to aromatic protein-like components and soluble microbial pollutants (SMPs). Weak direct relationship was found between the water quality parameters and THMs precursors.

INTRODUCTION: Laparoscopic colorectal resection is becoming the gold standard for treating colorectal cancers because it offers superior short-term and comparable long-time outcomes compared to open surgery. Intraoperative colonoscopy (IOC) is increasingly performed for tumor localization and mucosal assessment. The aim of this report was to review the safety and efficacy of IOC in laparoscopic colorectal surgery. METHOD: A MEDLINE search of studies of IOC in laparoscopic colorectal surgery was performed. We focused on three aspects of IOC use: (i) IOC for intraoperative tumor localization; (ii) colonic irrigation and IOC for obstructive left-sided colorectal cancers; and (iii) IOC for assessing colorectal anastomosis. RESULTS: During laparoscopic colorectal surgery, IOC enables accurate localization of early mucosal tumors, detection of lesions in the proximal unexamined colon for obstructive left-sided cancer, and visual assessment of anastomosis. Additionally, IOC allows for proper surgical resection, management of concomitant lesions, immediate maintenance of hemostasis, suture repair of leaks, and the creation of a protective stoma as necessary. CONCLUSIONS: Intraoperative colonoscopy is beneficial in laparoscopic colorectal surgery. Experienced surgical endoscopists should be trained to safely perform IOC.
