RESUMEN

Here we present a description of a new aphid species-Uroleucon (Uroleucon) lebanonense sp. nov. associated with Tragopogon coloratus (Asteraceae) in Lebanon. Apterous and alate viviparous females of the new species are described and illustrated, and compared with the morphologically similar species Uroleucon (U.) mongolicum Holman, 1975. An identification key to Palaearctic Uroleucon species with three setae on the first tarsal segment is provided. On the basis of the re-examination of the type material, we propose to restore the valid species status of U. (U.) altaicum Szelegiewicz, 1982 bona species which was regarded as a synonym of U. mulgedii (Nevsky, 1928). Additionally, we propose transfer of U. (U.) altaicum, U. (U.) bielawskii (Szelegiewicz, 1962) and U. (U.) mulgedii to the subgenus Lambersius Olive.

RESUMEN

Apterous viviparous females of Aphidura jimoi sp. nov. living on Dianthus sp. in East Georgia, are described and differences with the most similar species of the genus-A. naimanica Kadyrbekov, 2013, are presented. Additional data are provided for apterous viviparous females of A. pakistanensis Nieto Nafría, Mier Durante Remaudière, 2013, based on the first record from Georgia and the hitherto unknown alate viviparous females of this species are described. Updated identification keys for apterous females of all species currently included in the genus Aphidura, and for those feeding specifically on Dianthus spp. are provided.

RESUMEN

Ericaphisvoegtlini sp. n. living on Chamaebatiafoliolosa (Rosaceae) in California is described based on apterous and alate viviparous females. The new species differs from all other species of the genus Ericaphis Börner, 1939 in several important morphological characters including very long and rigid dorsal setae and distinctly swollen siphunculi with clearly visible polygonal reticulation.

The aphid tribe Macrosiphini Wilson, 1910 (Hemiptera: Aphididae: Aphidinae) is one of the most controversial groups within Aphididae. We sequenced 2876 bp from one nuclear gene (EF-1α) and four mitochondrial genes (COI, tRNA + COII, 16S) from 107 terminal taxa representing 57 genera of Macrosiphini s.l. (the former Macrosiphini + genera in former Pterocommatini), including all of the recognized major genera and outgroups, and reconstructed the phylogeny using maximum likelihood, maximum parsimony and Bayesian methods. The stepping-stone method was used to evaluate various topological hypotheses regarding Macrosiphini s.l. and related groups. Our findings support both the monophyly of Macrosiphini s.l., and of two subordinate groups (Macrosiphini s.str and the Pterocomma-group), as well as the transfer of Capitophorus, Pleotrichophorus, Liosomaphis and Vesiculaphis to the Pterocomma-group-a result not previously suggested by analyses of molecular data. Ancestral state reconstructions for Macrosiphini and the Pterocomma-group suggest an ancestral primary host association with Rosales and Malpighiales, respectively, and other host associations within the tribe. Host transitions independently occurred more than once in Macrosiphini s.str. Furthermore, host-shifts between Rosales and Malpighiales may have occurred at least once in the Pterocomma-group. Additionally, the Macrosiphini phylogeny indicates that host associations are consistent also with host ecology, with a partitioning of aphid-host relationships into riparian and periaquatic habitats versus drier forest/shrubland habitats.

RESUMEN

The genus Delfinoia Nieto Nafría & Mier Durante gen. n. is established, and Utamphorophora peruviana (Essig), originally Amphorophora peruviana and currently Delfinoia peruvianacomb. n., is designated species type of the genus. The synonymy between this species and Wahlgreniella australis Delfino syn. n. is established. Apterous and alate viviparous females of D. peruviana are redescribed; the male is also described. The species is currently known from Peru and Argentina; a plant of the genus Cayaponia (Cucurbitaceae) is the only identified host.

RESUMEN

A new species of the genus Megoura, M. lathyricola sp. n., was collected from Lathyrus japonicus subsp. japonicus (Leguminosae) in seashore areas of northern and southern Japan. This species is described and illustrated, and a revised key to the identification of the world species of Megoura is presented.

This paper reports formally the occurrence and describes the damages by Semiaphis dauci (Fabricius, 1775) (Insecta, Hemiptera, Aphididae, Aphidinae, Macrosiphini) on arracacha (Arracaciaxanthorrhiza Bancr.) (Apiaceae) in Brazil. The infestation was initially noted on April/2002 at Núcleo de Produção de Mudas, Departamento de Sementes Mudas e Matrizes, Coordenadoria de Assistência Técnica Integral, Secretaria de Agricultura e Abastecimento, São Bento do Sapucaí, State of São Paulo. Posteriorly the occurrence was detected in other parts of the municipality of São Bento do Sapucaí such as Serrano, Paiol Grande and Cantagalo, being the incidence higher in localities at lower altitudes. The colonies, with large number of individuals, were settled on both sides of the leaves and also hidden under petiole, but with lower number of specimens. The adult plants were underdeveloped and the growing of aphid colonies induced the blossoming. In the seedlings the symptoms were severer with reduction in the development and death of plants. When the colonies were placed in the dorsal side of the leaves, there was a tendency to wrinkling and rolling to upper side that was used as shelter by the aphids. Morphological characterization, illustrations and notes on biology of S. dauci and a survey of the Arthropoda related with A. xanthorrhiza are also presented.


Este trabalho efetua o registro formal de ocorrência e descreve os danos de Semiaphis dauci (Fabricius, 1775) (Insecta, Hemiptera, Aphididae, Aphidinae, Macrosiphini) em cultura de mandioquinha-salsa (Arracacia xanthorrhiza Bancr.) (Apiaceae) no Brasil. A infestação foi observada, inicialmente, em abril/2002, no Núcleo de Produção de Mudas, Departamento de Sementes Mudas e Matrizes, Coordenadoria de Assistência Técnica Integral, Secretaria de Agricultura e Abastecimento, São Bento do Sapucaí, SP. Posteriormente, a ocorrência foi detectada em outras localidades do município como Serrano, Paiol Grande e Cantagalo sendo que a incidência foi maior nas áreas de menor altitude. As colônias estavam localizadas em ambas as faces das folhas, e em menor número no pecíolo escondidas na bainha da folha. As plantas adultas apresentavam subdesenvolvimento e o aumento das colônias induzia o florescimento. Nas mudas os sintomas foram mais severos com redução no desenvolvimento e posterior morte das plantas. Quando havia formação de colônias na superfície superior das folhas, havia tendência de encarquilhamento e enrolamento para cima, servindo de abrigo para os pulgões. Caracterização morfológica, ilustrações, notas sobre a biologia de S. dauci e levantamento dos Arthropoda relacionados com A. xanthorrhiza também são apresentados.
