RESUMEN

The effectiveness of music education depends on the personal interaction between teachers and students in the pedagogical process. The presence of the music teacher, the initial presentation of music, and the immediate correction are all essential in individual instrumental training and group-based music education [1]. In our study, we examined the ICT skills and technical possibilities which music teachers (N = 352) had at their disposal during the COVID-19 pandemic, compiled the Internet platforms they used in their teaching, and asked whether they produced their own teaching materials. By using factor analysis, we explored music teachers' attitudes towards online education and identified four factors, namely student-centred, digital virtuoso, digitally creative, and difficult-to-adapt factors. The change in the learning environment and in familiar methods presented new challenges to most surveyed music teachers, who were creative in adapting to the situation and in preparing suitable teaching materials for their students.

RESUMEN

The integration of public art education and new media in colleges and universities remains a trend which cannot be stopped. As new media has had a beneficial impact on teaching content, forms of teaching, and teaching effects, it has also created various challenges for public art education in colleges and universities. While investigating the current state of integrating new media with public art education in colleges and universities, it was found that the impact of new media benefits more than it harms, whether it be online, in-person, theoretical, or practical teaching. Based on the current state, future policy focus, the direction of new media's changes, and the depth of cultural and art resources, new media and public art education in colleges and universities will continue to deepen integration and show further improvement. Using a survey of more than a dozen universities in the Jiangsu Province and the results of a questionnaire survey of 116 college students, this paper probes into the changes in public art education in colleges and universities in the new media era and explores the future developmental pattern of public art education in colleges and universities both internally and externally.

(AU)

The cinema embodies real life in everything we imagine, for this reason, from the Master’s degree in Art Education in Social and Cultural Institutions of the Complutense University of Madrid, it is proposed to develop an intergenerational project, Memorias de Mujer, which uses Spanish cinema as a mediating tool, to analyze the processes of construction and gender identity and express the reflective experience in an audiovisual document, which is evaluated in this work. Thus, a mixed and experimental research design is chosen1, established from the action-research paradigm, around methodological principles, which organize the actions around the variables that describe the fact at hand. research. The results of the study, analyzed using the qualitative panel technique, allow us to affirm that the cinematographic proposal has worked. The cinema forum has made it possible to address the evolution of the role of women, as well as to share intersubjectivities and imaginaries with women of other generations. (AU)

RESUMEN

This paper explores the impact of COVID-19 on higher education practical design courses in Egypt. Because of inadequate resources and preparedness, Egyptian colleges have struggled to adopt digital teaching methods during the COVID-19 pandemic. This paper examines strategies that are the most feasible for teaching practical courses during or after a pandemic through distance learning (on online platforms). An action research project was set up to deliver two studio-based design courses, one on architectural drawing and the other on furniture design via distance learning (online mode). This approach used a suite of technologies and synchronous and asynchronous delivery mechanisms, such as Zoom and Google Classroom. Student perceptions about the impact of these changes were evaluated using questionnaires. A psychological effect of the conditions caused by the pandemic on students has been the loss of interest in academics. The research results partially support the use of online platforms to teach practical courses. However, more needs to be done to improve the delivery of online courses in Egypt. Further, holding competitions was found to boost students' motivation levels. A future strategy for teaching practical courses in applied arts and engineering is proposed in this paper.

RESUMEN

Paternal involvement in household and childcare has increased over the past century, but global studies show that most mothers still remain responsible for a significantly higher proportion of total household care and childcare. Moreover, the COVID-19 pandemic has further negatively impacted mothers, who take on the majority of childcare responsibilities. However, scholars agree that a father's devotion to playing with the child fosters the child's cognitive, linguistic, and socio-emotional development. Acknowledging and approaching art as a dynamic and integrated play, this qualitative case study investigates five South Korean father-child dyads and their interactions while playing with art materials. The participants engaged in three thematic art sessions designed by the author. Data collection involved audio and video recordings of each session, surveys of adult participants, and photos of finished artworks. The study found that fathers' varied educational backgrounds and perceptions of their abilities to facilitate arts learning influenced their confidence in teaching the arts at home. Furthermore, having a theme and prompting questions assisted the fathers to facilitate more focused art play. The art play also provided the father-child dyads with arts learning opportunities, including learning and distinguishing colors and recognizing stereotypes associated with colors. Moreover, one-on-one interaction between the dyads helped them build a more intimate bond. This study presents specific examples of art activities and participants' responses, which might offer insights and educational implications for paternal involvement in child play and thematic art play at home.

RESUMEN

The success of faculty in adopting technology in this digital era has a direct impact on the success of the students and, eventually, the educational institution. Many teachers, on the other hand, have yet to implement technological tools such as Canvas into their classes. As a result, this study looked at art universities lecturers' opinions of variables influencing actual blackboard use, as well as their desire to utilize the lesson plan in learning and teaching during the COVID-19 Pandemic. The TAM model and the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) were used to analyze lecturers' satisfaction with the blackboard and their desire to continue using it, as well as the actual usage of blackboards. A survey of 159 professors using Canvas in art instruction at five Saudi Arabian public institutions yielded the research findings. In addition, structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to evaluate the study model as well as the mediating relationship between factors influencing the desire to implement the lesson in learning and teaching during the COVID-19 Pandemic. According to the study's findings, superior impact, performance expectation, effort expectations, enabling conditions, and reported enjoyment all had statistically significant effects on perceived usefulness (PU) and perceived ease of use. The current study discovered that PU and perception of use had statistically significant influence on behavior intent, actual blackboard usage, and lecturers' happiness with utilizing blackboard in learning and teaching during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Furthermore, the results demonstrate that lecturer's intention to continue utilizing chalkboard in learning and teaching during and after COVID-19 Pandemic was influenced by actual usage of blackboard and reported pleasure. The findings are useful for education based, regulators, and practitioners who seek to create and enhance effective methods to use e-learning systems during and after the COVID-19 Pandemic.

RESUMEN

It is necessary to explore the significance of innovation and entrepreneurship to Chinese art education. The organization and operation mechanism of innovation and entrepreneurship education (IEE) is studied according to the current situation of IEE in Chinese art colleges and universities. The IEE system of art colleges and universities is optimized, and a new teaching model of IEE with the characteristics is explored. In addition, the research methods are theoretical analysis, comparative analysis, and empirical analysis. The objects are students from some domestic art academies. The influence of innovation and entrepreneurship on the modern art teaching model is explored. It mainly investigates the awareness and needs of college students' innovation and entrepreneurship, the professional knowledge of students participating in related activities, the transformation of achievements, and the system and management of IEE. Based on this, a new teaching model of innovation and entrepreneurship is proposed. The six dimensions of creativity, initiative, interest, ideation, independence, and concentration of students in this model are evaluated. The results show that the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship has a significant role in improving the contemporary art education model on these six dimensions. It is found that this spirit is vital for the development of contemporary art education. In art education, the application of entrepreneurship improves students' thinking and practical ability. And this spirit is an important part of the construction of contemporary art education.

RESUMEN

Differences in the ability of students to judge images can be assessed by analyzing the individual preference order (ranking) of images. To gain insights into potential heterogeneity in judgement of visual abstraction among students, we combine Bradley-Terry preference modeling and model-based recursive partitioning. In an experiment a sample of 1,020 high-school students ranked five sets of images, three of which with respect to their level of visual abstraction. Additionally, 24 art experts and 25 novices were given the same task, while their eye movements were recorded. Results show that time spent on the task, the students' age, and self-reported interest in visual puzzles had significant influence on rankings. Fixation time of experts and novices revealed that both groups paid more attention to ambiguous images. The presented approach makes the underlying latent scale of visual judgments quantifiable.

RESUMEN

The emotions that human beings experience have a key role in the environments in which they operate. In art education, creative processes are influenced by the emotions and experiences lived by the individual, enabling a more emotional and creative design to make life more pleasant. The aim was to examine the research during the period 1917-2020 on the development of emotional creativity in art education. Mathematical and statistical techniques were applied to 984 articles carried from Elsevier's Scopus database. The findings yielded data on the scientific productivity of the journal, authors, research institutions, and countries/territories that promoted this field. The data showed an exponential trend, mostly in the last decade. Five lines of research stand out: emotion, higher education, education, art, and leadership. Moreover, five future research directions related to visual art education, affective paradigm, metacompetency, expressive arts therapy group, and cognitive empathy were detected. This study establishes the link between psychology, neuroscience, and artistic education to constitute the decision-making of the promoters of this topic of research. The analysis of international research allowed us to focus the future publications of academics and researchers, in addition to guaranteeing an adequate approach to the objectives of the institutions and funding centers.

RESUMEN

Illustrated by the case of a medical college in western China, this paper summarizes the problems in the construction and implementation of art education courses, and the actual needs of medical students for integrating art education to the medical education. In response to the major problems existing in the art education curriculum of medical schools, we propose that art education should integrate the four dimensions of "motivation, thinking, understanding and emotion" into the "New Medical Science" education reform. It is proposed to play the function of art education and stimulate students' learning motivation, innovation kinetic energy and professional motivation; improve students' ideological and moral awareness; strengthen students' perception of the times and life; cultivate students' true emotions of loving themselves and patients. Within the existing framework of medical professional education, the art-based elective courses and the "multi-disciplines" are effectively connected, and the art course system is rationally constructed; the content and evaluation of art education courses are optimized, and a reasonable evaluation system is made; the art practice orientation of the whole process of medical students' learning is stressed and a guarantee system is established. Effective implementation of the functions of the four dimensions of art education can break the barriers of the curriculum system, and take advantages of the professional, systematic and functional of art education in medical education.

RESUMEN

Largely absent from educational/instructional technology journals, this study focused on how K-12 art teachers in a southern state used technology to support teaching and learning, uses they found to be the best, and what kinds of technology training they received as part of their initial teacher preparation. Findings indicated that presentation and resource access technologies had transformed the way art teachers in the study work with students and materials. They also had little use of technology to support students with special needs and had limited technology experiences in their own training. Elementary art teachers were found to have more examples of student higher-order thinking skills promoting technology use, while secondary art teachers had more student media creation and a desire to implement digital portfolios. Additional findings and interpretations are offered.

RESUMEN

Literature about the integral role of the arts in learning is widely available, but much less has been written about how the arts and aesthetics support education in the creative arts therapies, particularly in the online learning environment. This article introduces the concept of aesthetic presence within the Community of Inquiry pedagogical model in line with values espoused within a Universal Design for Learning framework. The authors contextualize this concept with examples of how attention to the use of aesthetic and multimedia strategies in the classroom and in the online learning environment may foster openness and connection, encourage flexibility, humor, critical thinking, and animate and facilitate conversations about emergent and emotionally difficult themes while increasing accessibility for different kinds of learners.

RESUMEN

Previous studies have focused on the differences in the art appreciation process between individuals, and indicated that novice viewers of artworks, in comparison to experts, rarely consider the creation process of the artwork or how this may relate to style. However, behavioral changes in individuals after educational interventions have not been examined. Art education researchers claim that technical knowledge and creation experiences help novice viewers to pay attention to technical features of artwork. Therefore, an artistic photo creation course was designed and conducted to help students acquire techniques and procedural knowledge of photo creation. The present study verified whether students' viewing strategies during appreciation of photographs changed after the course. Twenty-one students participated in two sessions, viewing the same 12 photographs before and after the course. Based on the analysis of recorded eye movements, the results indicated that the students' perceptual exploration became more active with photographs containing recognizable subjects (i.e., humans and objects), and their global saccades increased when they viewed classic photography, one of the categories of photography covered in the course. Interview data after the course indicated that students became aware of the technical effects in photographs. These results suggest that students' viewing strategies may change following a course, as assessed by behavioral measures of eye movements. Further examination is needed to validate this approach to educational effect measurement.

RESUMEN

The aim of this paper is to develop a new understanding of children's drawings and to provide ideas for future research in early childhood. Starting from classic theories on child graphical development, we proceed to analyze them and provide our own views on the subject. We will also recount a number of relevant empirical studies that appear to validate our theory. Our belief is that emotion and self-expression through movement play a key role in the development of child art, and that this may be already visible during the scribbling stage of drawing.

RESUMEN

Emotional responses to art have long been subject of debate, but only recently have they started to be investigated in affective science. The aim of this study was to compare perceptions regarding frequency of aesthetic emotions, contributing factors, and motivation which characterize the experiences of looking at painting and listening to music. Parallel surveys were filled in online by participants (N = 971) interested in music and painting. By comparing self-reported characteristics of these experiences, this study found that compared to listening to music, looking at painting was associated with increased frequency of wonder and decreased frequencies of joyful activation and power. In addition to increased vitality, as reflected by the latter two emotions, listening to music was also more frequently associated with emotions such as tenderness, nostalgia, peacefulness, and sadness. Compared to painting-related emotions, music-related emotions were perceived as more similar to emotions in other everyday life situations. Participants reported that stimulus features and previous knowledge made more important contributions to emotional responses to painting, whereas prior mood, physical context and the presence of other people were considered more important in relation to emotional responses to music. Self-education motivation was more frequently associated with looking at painting, whereas mood repair and keeping company motivations were reported more frequently in relation to listening to music. Participants with visual arts education reported increased vitality-related emotions in their experience of looking at painting. In contrast, no relation was found between music education and emotional responses to music. These findings offer a more general perspective on aesthetic emotions and encourage integrative research linking different types of aesthetic experience.
