RESUMEN

The coexistence of carbon neutrality and capitalism can be realized if environmentally friendly management is proven to enhance profitability. The focus of green logistics practices (GLPs) is on maximizing energy efficiency in logistics services, potentially leading to cost reductions for companies. Such practices can be supported through public reports, such as Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) reports, and government policies, including government certification. The primary objective of this study is to investigate whether the financial efficiency of logistics companies can be improved through the implementation of GLPs and a relevant government policy. To achieve this objective, a two-stage analysis was conducted using Data Envelopment Analysis - Slack-Based Measure (DEA-SBM) and Tobit regression analysis. The DEA-SBM was employed to assess whether the financial efficiency of logistics companies adopting GLPs and a relevant government policy was superior to that of companies not adopting such practices. Additionally, Tobit regression analysis was employed to analyze the effects of GLPs, ESG reports, and a government policy on the financial efficiency of logistics companies. The findings of the study indicate the necessity for collaboration between the private and public sectors to implement GLPs in a financially positive manner. In conclusion, the research demonstrated that the implementation of GLPs, coupled with public disclosure through ESG reports or equivalents and a government policy, had a positive impact on the financial efficiency of logistics companies.

RESUMEN

Global warming, a persistent issue, needs comprehensive solutions. Shifting to sustainable resources and promoting green initiatives like green logistics, green investments, and environmental policies (such as environmental technology and environmental tax) are potential ways to address this challenge. The current study explores relationships between these factors and transportation emissions in China, with a focus on achieving the 2060 carbon neutrality goal. To investigate the research gap, the study employs the novel econometric, method of moments quantile regression (MMQR) for benchmark estimation and the bootstrap quantile regression (BSQR) technique for sensitivity estimations from 2000/Q1 to 2019/Q4, and the study confirms the hypothesis of "carbon neutrality." The results reveal that green logistics and green finance have a negative impact on transportation emissions across all quantiles. Environmental technology, environmental tax, and renewable energy also help reduce transportation emissions. On the contrary, economic growth increases transportation emissions, with a greater effect in the early quantile stages but a diminishing impact in later stages. Based on the study's findings, policymakers should prioritize sustainable development strategies to achieve the goal of "carbon neutrality." Implementing green logistics and promoting green investments are essential steps in this direction. Additionally, greater support should be given to the renewable energy sector, green technologies, and sustainable growth to achieve the carbon neutrality goal in China by 2060.

RESUMEN

Chinese Golden Courses was proposed by the Ministry of Education of China in 2018. It consists of five types. Virtual Simulation Golden Course is one of them. The college students are often faced with the problems of few opportunities, higher cost, higher risk and poorer effect during the internship in logistics courses. Virtual simulation experiment course is an important means to solve this kind of practical teaching problem. Green Logistics Virtual Simulation Experiment (GLVSE), a course built according to Virtual Simulation Golden Course, as a case was reported. The development process of GLVSE such as designing reasonable talent training architecture, reflecting Two Properties and One Degree, cooperating between schools and enterprises, and reforming the teaching mode with the way of "mixed online and offline" were introduced in detail. Six successful experiences and a model of building virtual simulation golden course are summed up. The report provides important references for developing high-quality virtual simulation courses not only for Chinese universities but also for other universities in the world.

RESUMEN

Green logistics has recently received considerable attention because of its practical benefits to businesses and the environment, particularly in developing countries. However, there is a lack of empirical evidence regarding the motivations behind green logistics practices and environmental performance. This study explores the impact of green logistics knowledge exploitation on green logistics management practices and green logistics performance. In addition, this study explains the moderating role of green intellectual capital in the relationship between green logistics knowledge exploitation and green logistics management practices. Based on responses from 142 Vietnamese logistics business managers, the data were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling. To our knowledge, this is the first study to confirm 1) the influence of green logistics knowledge exploitation on green logistics performance through the mediating role of green logistics management practices, and 2) the moderating effect of green intellectual capital on the relationship between green logistics knowledge exploitation and green logistics management practices. These results have implications for environmental management practices in logistics operations and could help promote green logistics practices through green logistics knowledge exploitation and its subsequent enhancement of green logistics performance.

RESUMEN

The large amounts of mineral residues generated by the bauxite-alumina industries in the Amazon - with a production scale in the same order of magnitude as their source commodities - have been seen as new sources of raw materials (secondary mines) and/or an inseparable part of a sustainable production system, i.e., a source for the generation of co-products within a circular economy system. In the present study, two alkaline residues from this mining-metallurgical industry were assessed for their potential to amend productive acidic Amazonian soils, namely, (1) insoluble solid residue from the Bayer process (bauxite residue, BR) and (2) ash from energy production from coal (coal combustion residues, CCRs: fly ash, FA, and bottom ash, BA). A physicochemical investigation was performed to evaluate the possible benefits that these residues can offer to the soil‒plant system. The alkalinity of the residues was adjusted "to a value of pH 8-10" by leaching with H3PO4 using a central composite experimental design. The chemical analyses indicated high levels (total and soluble) of essential elements such as Ca and S in the CCRs. All residues showed a high cation exchange capacity (CEC). Regarding the water holding capacity (WHC), FA showed a higher value than the other residues (68.6%). After pH adjustment, available P increased significantly for all residues, and the Ca and S contents remained high for the CCRs, while in BR, there was a decrease in available Na, and aluminum (Al3+) was not available because the potential acidity (H + Al) < 0.6. Finally, complementary analyses showed that with respect to mineralogy, BR is composed mainly of iron oxyhydroxides and aluminosilicate phases, while carbonate, sulfide and silicate phases dominate the CCRs. The neutralizing character, the presence of nutrients in the CCRs and the unavailability of Al3+ in BR are positive physicochemical characteristics for the management of Amazonian acid soils; the use of this residues would add to the circular economy and sustainability of the Amazon.

RESUMEN

The transition from traditional logistics to green and low-carbon logistics is crucial and inevitable due to the pressure of climate change and sustainable development in China. Meanwhile, technological innovation is perceived as an important factor affecting the development of the logistics industry. To explore the impacts of technological innovation and other factors and to propose proper policies based on the results, this study utilizes a generalized estimating equations (GEE) regression model to analyze panel data of 30 provinces during 2001-2019. Firstly, the entropy weight method is applied to calculate the green logistics development level based on an index system considering green factors. Secondly, a GEE model which considers the correlation among different observations is used to investigate the impacts of crucial factors on the green logistics development level. Moreover, regional heterogeneity is also analyzed in this paper by comparing the regression results of the Eastern region, Central region, and Western region. Based on the above analysis, several conclusions are drawn: (1) In terms of the average green logistics development levels, the Eastern region ranks 1st, the Central region ranks 2nd, and the Western region ranks 3rd. (2) GEE regression model is proved effective in our sample. (3) For the full sample, technological innovation, trade openness, and logistics infrastructure positively affect the green logistics development level; while, government regulation and energy intensity negatively influence the green logistics development level. (4) Regional heterogeneity is confirmed in our sample. Related policy recommendations are proposed based on our regional regression results. Take the Eastern region as an example, the local governments in the Eastern region should upgrade the manufacturing industry, reduce government financial investment in the transportation sector, and enhance environmental control expenditure in the transportation sector.

RESUMEN

Logistics enterprises are searching for a sustainable solution between the economy and the environment under the concept of green logistics development. Given that, this study integrates carbon emission as one of the costs into the vehicle routing problem with time window (VRPTW) and establishes a multi-center joint distribution optimization model taking into account distribution cost, carbon emission, and customer satisfaction. In the study of carbon emissions, this paper selected the vehicle load rate and vehicle distance as the main indicators. An improved ant colony algorithm is designed to solve the model by introducing the elite strategy, the saving strategy, vehicle service rules, and customer selection rules. Simulation results show that compared with the traditional ant colony optimization and genetic algorithm, the improved ant colony algorithm can effectively reduce the distribution cost and carbon emission and, improve customer satisfaction.

RESUMEN

Logistics is an important sector that supports every sector of the economy, and thus, the development of nations is impossible without efficient logistics. Alongside this, the logistics sector generates various kinds of emissions that degrade the quality of the environment. Developed countries are striving to introduce green logistics to avoid environmental damages caused by transportation. Also, developing countries will start focusing on developing green logistics sooner or later. Keeping this in view, a comparative panel study on the group of seven (G7) and Emerging Seven (E7) nations is conducted to study the impacts of various economic and financial variables on green logistics. The data from 1996 to 2018 is analyzed using some reliable methods that produce efficient and consistent results during heterogeneity and cross-sectional dependence. The findings disclosed that cointegration is present in E7 and G7 panels. For E7 countries, the results disclosed that research and development (R&D), FDI, portfolio investment, and trade openness reduce green logistics. However, in the G7, R&D, FDI, portfolio investment, and trade increase green logistics. The empirical analysis did not show any meaningful impact of financial development and economic growth on green logistics in both groups of nations. Lastly, based on the comparative analysis, various policies are suggested for E7 to catch up with the G7 regarding logistics development. Also, policies for G7 are suggested to boost green logistics.

RESUMEN

Due to the intensified environmental protection consciousness of enterprises and consumers, the green winner determination (GWD) considering environmental performance becomes very important for the 4PL transportation service procurement. In this paper, a new GWD method is studied, which considers different types of attributes including those related to environmental performance and the consensus reaching process (CRP). To characterize multiple types of attributes, linguistic terms, interval numbers, and crisp numbers are combined. To achieve an acceptable consensus level among linguistic evaluations given by different experts, a minimum adjustment consensus model is constructed. And on this basis, an interactive CRP is proposed. Integrating the heterogeneous information addressing process and the CRP, a HC-VIKOR method is developed to promote the 4PL's operational efficiency and service quality. Further, a numerical example is designed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. Sensitivity analysis reveals that both the acceptable consensus threshold and the weight of group utility have a significant influence on the winner determination result. Comparison analysis shows that the proposed method outperforms the existing methods. Our study not only extends the traditional winner determination but also provides decision support for the 4PL to provide transportation services efficiently.

RESUMEN

Increasingly serious environmental problems are forcing many industries to gradually turn to green development, and green competitiveness has become the vision of policymakers and industry practitioners. The impact of the development of the logistics industry on the environment cannot be ignored, but the promotion path of its green competitiveness has not been fully studied. Based on Porter's diamond model, this study uses fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis to explore the condition configuration of the logistics industry in 30 provincial regions in mainland China to enhance green competitiveness and effectively combine theory with practice. Factors considered include logistics technology innovation ability, logistics market demand, proportion of tertiary industry, management level of logistics enterprises, environmental regulation, and the internet. The results show that the green competitiveness of the logistics industry is influenced by many factors and cannot be sufficiently explained by a single factor. The findings point to three paths with equal authenticity to improve the green competitiveness of the logistics industry. By comparing the same types of high configuration and low configuration, this study finds that environmental regulation is an important external driving force for regions with low added value of output products, and for regions with certain geographical advantages and numerous logistics enterprises, in addition to the management level of logistics enterprises, support from the internet is also particularly important in improving the green competitiveness of logistics. These findings can provide a practical reference for the promotion of green competitiveness in the logistics industry in different regions.

RESUMEN

Infrastructure development has been a priority area since the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) was proposed. This paper uses the generalized method of moments (GMM) to analyze the relationship between the green logistics, environment and economic growth based on panel data of countries along the BRI from 2007 to 2018. It is found that fossil fuels are the core of logistics operation activities, and the more fossil fuels are used, the more detrimental to the sustainable development of the environment. "The green logistics is negatively correlated with fossil fuel energy consumption and carbon emissions per capita in countries along the Belt and Road. At the same time, the green logistics can also bring more export opportunities for these countries and increase the national income per capita. The development of the green logistics is of great significance to the countries' environment and sustainable economic development along the Belt and Road.

RESUMEN

With the implementation of Chinese carbon neutrality policy, the Yangtze River Delta calls for great concern. As a benchmark for the development of Chinese logistics industry, it accompanies energy consumption and environmental problems. This study explores how Chinese logistics industry can achieve energy conservation and emission reduction and high-quality development in the context of carbon neutrality. It analyzes the relationship between the logistics industry and economy, energy, as well as environment in Yangtze River Delta. The data is based on China Statistical Yearbook from 2001 to 2019, by means of the entropy method and panel vector autoregressive (PVAR) model. The main findings are summarized as follows: firstly, the economy, industrial structure, energy, and environment have significant impact on the development of logistics industry in Yangtze River Delta. Secondly, the development of logistics industry in Yangtze River Delta is not balanced. The provinces including Jiangsu, Shanghai, Zhejiang, and Anhui have great differences in economy, industrial structure, demographic dividend, energy consumption, and environmental protection, but they show the possibility of complementary advantages. Thirdly, the economic development and energy consumption have bidirectional effects. Environmental protection is relevant to economic development, industrial structure, energy consumption and logistics supply. Finally, some suggestions are provided on how to realize the high-quality development of logistics industry in Yangtze River Delta. In the context of carbon neutrality, it is necessary to consider energy conservation and emission reduction.

RESUMEN

In this study, our primary focus is to capture the impact of green logistics and social marketing on health outcomes in One Belt Road Initiative (OBRI) countries over the time period 2007-2019. Two estimation techniques, i.e., 2SLS and GMM, are employed to get the estimates of our variables. Findings of the 2SLS model confirmed the negative impact of green logistics on infant mortality in OBRI, European, MENA, and Asian countries. On the other side, the relationship between green logistics and life expectancy is positive in all the regions in 2SLS models. The other estimation technique also supports these findings, GMM, which confirmed the negative impact of green logistics on infant mortality and the positive impact of green logistics on life expectancy OBRI, European, MENA, and Asian economies. From these findings, we can conclude that green logistics helps to improve the health status of OBRI economies. Similarly, social marketing also improves the health status in OBRI and other regions in both models. Therefore, the governments and policymakers in respective economies should focus on the development of green infrastructure and logistics that, on one side, promote economic growth. However, on the other side, it helps improve environmental quality, which ultimately improves the OBRI economies' health status.

RESUMEN

Green infrastructure has been considered as one potential solution for improving air quality as well as enhancing environmental sustainability in the modern era. Therefore, the study aims to examine the impact of green economic infrastructure on environmental sustainability in one belt and road initiative (OBRI) economies for the period 2007 to 2019. For empirical investigations, the study adopts 2SLS and GMM approaches. The study uses three proxies to measure green economic infrastructure, namely, green logistics, use of the internet, and green technology. Our 2SLS findings demonstrate that green logistics increases CO2 in OBRI, Central Asia, MENA and reduces CO2 in Europe. However, GMM findings report that green logistics increases CO2 in OBRI, central Asia, and MENA and reduces CO2 in Europe. While our 2SLS findings show that internet use reduces CO2 in OBRI and East and Southeast Asia Europe and increases CO2 in MENA. While GMM findings reveal that the use of the internet reduces CO2 in OBRI and Europe and increases in East and Southeast Asia and MENA. While green technology also enhances environmental sustainability in OBRI. Based on the findings, environmental policies can be revised for OBRI economies.

RESUMEN

Nowadays, the market competition becomes increasingly fierce due to diversified customer needs, stringent environmental requirements, and global competitors. One of the most important factors for companies to not only survive but also thrive in today's competitive market is their logistics performance. This paper aims, through a systematic literature analysis of 115 papers from 2012 to 2020, at presenting quantitative insights and comprehensive overviews of the current and future research landscapes of sustainable logistics in the Industry 4.0 era. The results show that Industry 4.0 technologies provide opportunities for improving the economic efficiency, environmental performance, and social impact of logistics sectors. However, several challenges arise with this technological transformation, i.e., trade-offs among different sustainability indicators, unclear benefits, lifecycle environmental impact, inequity issues, and technology maturity. Thus, to better tackle the current research gaps, future suggestions are given to focus on the balance among different sustainability indicators through the entire lifecycle, human-centric technological transformation, system integration and digital twin, semi-autonomous transportation solutions, smart reverse logistics, and so forth.

RESUMEN

Straw recycling has generated high collection and transportation costs. Scientifically informed collection, storage, and transportation methods can reduce automobile exhaust emissions and high transportation costs. According to the relevant statistics, China's total theoretical straw resources reached 920 million tons in 2020. Due to such regional and seasonal straw surpluses, however, comprehensive utilization technologies need to be improved, and farmers' awareness of environmental protection needs to be strengthened. In some areas, open burning of straw is still practiced, causing environmental pollution and wasting resources. This study used cost and carbon emission metrics in a dual-objective planning model to plan the site selection of straw collection and storage facilities. Compared with the current manual calculation in various links in straw supply logistics, modeling can resolve the contradiction between cost and carbon emission considerations and can help meet the goal of Pareto optimum while ensuring supply, reducing costs for enterprises, and providing decision-making assistance for the government. This paper uses transportation theory and a dual-objective, mixed-integer model to study the field of biomass energy. Through the planning and design of the biomass raw material supply chain, the system efficiency is improved, and the studied company can obtain more profits. This article also explores the role of controlling carbon emissions in the field of biomass energy. It is believed that the government not only needs to guide corporate decision-making by charging carbon taxes but also needs to support enterprises in participating in the field of biomass power generation through active policy guidance.

RESUMEN

The significance of global green logistics in improving green economic activities is a critically considered and debatable research topic in the context of economic growth and environment. This study aims to analyze the growth and environmental effects of green logistics performance for One Belt and Road Initiative (OBRI) countries over the period 2007-2019. The study used panel data two-stage least squares (2SLS) and generalized method of moments (GMM) estimators with robust inferences. The findings have revealed that green logistics performance improves the economic growth in OBRI, Europe, and MENA economies. While green logistics performance enhances the environmental pollution in OBRI, Central Asia, and MENA economies, it significantly improves the environmental quality in Europe and East and Southeast Asia regions. The control variables have also importance in economic growth and environment in policy implication in OBRI and five sub-regions of OBRI economies. Based on these findings, we can conduct some robust green logistics policies in OBRI.

RESUMEN

Logistics plays a major part in any country's or region's economic success. Logistics performance depends upon the trade between other countries and urbanization. Urbanization has major role in logistics performance. However, being a significant energy user, logistics has negative consequences. As the logistics performance increases, carbon emissions increase as well because of more transportation and urbanization. Logistics performance has positive effects related to trade openness which reduces carbon emissions. As a result, it is necessary to understand function of logistics from both economic and environmental standpoint. Logistics performance is affected by urbanization of any region. The dataset for this research is made up of 10 Asian nations with 550 observations from 2010 to 2018 and is based on the theoretical underpinnings of impact of population affluence and technology (IPAT) and stochastic impacts by regression on population affluence and technology (STIRPAT). After applying various tests like cointegration analysis, unit root test, cross-sectional dependence now long & short-term relation of variables is studied by Cross-sectionally augmented autoregressive distributed lag (CS-ARDL). As indicated by the discoveries, the logistic performance index (LPI) is basically effective on economic growth and carbon emissions, particularly when related to IPAT and STIRPAT. The findings are reviewed, and policy implications are offered, which say that current logistical infrastructure should be transformed to more environmentally friendly operations. Finally, the limits are acknowledged, as well as future research possibilities that should be pursued.

RESUMEN

The globalization process has yielded various undesirable consequences for the environment and society, including increased environmental pollution, climate change and the exhaustion and destruction of resources. The influence of these processes makes it difficult to guarantee citizens' rights to a clean environment, and the implementation of this right requires complex solutions. The aim of this integrative review article is to discuss the right to a clean environment, as it relates to green logistics and sustainable tourism, by analyzing various scientific and legal sources. Rethinking the possible solutions of green logistics for sustainable tourism, such as tourism mobilities, bicycle tourism, the co-creation of smart velomobility, walkability, and others, can help us also rethink how to balance, respect, protect, and enforce human rights in the present-day context of climate change challenges. The integrative review analysis shows the importance of seeking a balance between the context (the right to a clean environment), the challenge (climate change), and the solutions (green logistics solutions for sustainable tourism).

RESUMEN

The booming development of e-commerce has brought about rapid growth in the express delivery industry in China. However, urban express distribution is increasingly difficult and seriously affecting the traffic, safety, and environmental conditions of cities due to small, scattered end points, unreasonable allocation of resources, and seriously repeated resource waste. Therefore, there is an urgent need to solve the problems associated with the unreasonable resource allocation of express distribution. In the context of green logistics, a new mode of collaborative distribution based on intelligent end service station (IESS) is proposed. Following the measurement models of carbon emissions, before and after collaborative distributions are provided to prove the environmental benefits of the new mode. The influencing factors considered in the models are the average daily distribution volume, number of distribution sections, vehicle ownership of various types, and their capacity, use, fuel, and power consumption. To verify the models' validity, we conduct an empirical study of five express enterprises in China and make a comparative analysis on the results, which show that the implementation of collaborative distribution can extremely reduce carbon emissions and improve the overall load rate of vehicles. Specially, the use of new energy vehicles can contribute significantly to energy conservation and emissions reduction.
