RESUMEN
This is a two-dimensional and Doppler echocardiographic study of the hemodynamic changes in patients with heatstroke and heat exhaustion. It demonstrates that the hemodynamic changes in severe heat exposure reflect a hyperdynamic circulation with tachycardia and high cardiac output states. Relative hypovolemia was more pronounced in patients with heatstroke compared to patients with heat exhaustion. Signs of peripheral vasoconstriction were more often present in patients with heatstroke, while patients with heat exhaustion more often demonstrated peripheral vasodilatation.

The results of the investigations of ACTH, HGH, hydrocortisone, glucagon, C-peptide, insulin in 180 patients with advanced and metastatic melanomas, soft tissue sarcomas, lung cancers and renal cell carcinomas testify to the development of the syndrome of endocrine hyperfunction in patients under whole-body guided hyperthermia as well as of functional pancreas insufficiency. The data presented form a biochemical basis for working out measures to optimally carry out whole-body hyperthermia treatment, aimed at increasing the range of indications for its use in clinical oncology.

We present the clinical course and computerized tomography (CT) findings in a case of pancerebellar syndrome due to heat stroke at the Mekkah Pilgrimage. CT scan was initially normal, but five months later, a considerable generalized cerebellar atrophy was seen despite remarkable clinical improvement.

Diffuse lung uptake of Tc-99m tin colloid during liver scanning was found in a patient with heat stroke. Slightly increased splenic uptake was present, but bone marrow uptake was not. A repeat liver scan seven days after the initial scan showed no lung uptake.
