RESUMEN
Abstract Introduction Breathing is one of the vital functions of the body and is essential for the maintenance of life. Preventive measures for respiratory disorders can be used by the population, as well as early self-diagnosis and immediate search for treatment based on knowledge of this subject. Objective this study developed a weblog on the breathing function targeting young people and analyzed the statistical data of views until the present moment. Methods The weblog was developed, and the stages of analysis, design, development and implementation were followed. All texts were evaluated by the Flesch Reading Index to verify the language, and the statistical data were analyzed by the number of views, countries with the highest number of views, search terms used, most viewed pages and number of comments on the blog. Results Issues related to the breathing function and thosemost cited in the literature were selected. The blog was structured using pages with content and curiosities, with texts with minimum readability of 50%, and was made available on the internet by means of the Wordpress tool. The statistics showed an increase in the number of visits after August 2015; the countries with the highest number of views were Brazil, United States and Portugal; the search terms used were unknown or related to mouth breathing; the most viewed pages related to mouth breathing and the comments addressed questions on mouth breathing, reports and compliments. Conclusion The blog "How do I breathe?," aimed at young people and containing information about the breathing function, was developed and is available on the internet at the address: https://comoeurespiro.wordpress.com. (AU)
The technological and digital society requires people and knowledges together for mutual co-operation, so that to solve complex problems in a world where the access to information is nearly immediate. In this context, professors and students at a public university in the master's degree course called Ensino na Saúde (the learning about health), and others in the Técnico em Redes de Computadores (technical expert in computer networks) course at a federal institute, both in the state of Ceará, Brazil, published the blog Saúde na Era Digital (health in the digital era), aiming the health education for the general public. The interaction with visitors comments was submitted to the content analysis and three thematic axes emerged: balanced/appropriate use of information and communication technology (ICT); its benefits to health; and its damage. The positive aspects of the experience were specified: different educational resources used by the blog; overcoming obstacle of time-space; learning cooperative environment; blog for learning; and community gain in health education from the integration graduate-postgraduate-teaching. A difficulty of some people to handle these ICT was observed. ICT are recommended for current, contextualized and interdisciplinary educational practices. (AU)
(AU)

Technology is here to stay, and forbidding adolescents to access electronic media may not be a sustainable solution. Pediatric health care providers should include technology use and the parents' knowledge of the child's technology use, in their screening practices with patients. With the guidance of pediatric nurses, parents and children together can collaborate on ways to maximize the benefits of technology and decrease its risks.

The objective was to analyze the structure of school blogs on sexuality and their utilization by adolescents. This quantitative, exploratory and documentary study was performed with 11 blogs designed by students and available online in March of 2012. The information was submitted to hypertext analysis and descriptive statistics, taking research ethics norms into consideration. Group and education blogs developed in Portuguese and Brazilian schools were most often signed by their authors and suffered few updates. The written posts mixed scientific and informal languages, besides presenting videos and images. Every blog included information regarding the number of followers, visits, comments and a contact to answer questions. The highlighted discussed topics were birth control methods and sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Blogs are a resource for health education that should promote active discussions and rely on the participation of health care professionals.

During infectious disease outbreaks, data collected through health institutions and official reporting structures may not be available for weeks, hindering early epidemiologic assessment. By contrast, data from informal media are typically available in near real-time and could provide earlier estimates of epidemic dynamics. We assessed correlation of volume of cholera-related HealthMap news media reports, Twitter postings, and government cholera cases reported in the first 100 days of the 2010 Haitian cholera outbreak. Trends in volume of informal sources significantly correlated in time with official case data and was available up to 2 weeks earlier. Estimates of the reproductive number ranged from 1.54 to 6.89 (informal sources) and 1.27 to 3.72 (official sources) during the initial outbreak growth period, and 1.04 to 1.51 (informal) and 1.06 to 1.73 (official) when Hurricane Tomas afflicted Haiti. Informal data can be used complementarily with official data in an outbreak setting to get timely estimates of disease dynamics.
