OBJECTIVE: Frailty measures vary widely and the optimal measure for predicting HIV-associated neurocognitive disorders (HAND) is unclear. DESIGN: A study was conducted to examine the clinical utility of three widely used frailty measures in identifying HIV-associated neurocognitive disorders. METHODS: The study involved 284 people with HIV (PWH) at least 50 years enrolled at UC San Diego's HIV Neurobehavioral Research Program. Frailty measurements included the Fried Phenotype, the Rockwood Frailty Index, and the Veterans Aging Cohort Study (VACS) Index. HAND was diagnosed according to Frascati criteria. ANOVAs examined differences in frailty severity across HAND conditions. ROC analyses evaluated sensitivity and specificity of each measure to detect symptomatic HAND [mild neurocognitive disorder (MND) and HIV-associated dementia (HAD)] from no HAND. RESULTS: Across all frailty measures, frailty was found to be higher in HAD compared with no HAND. For Fried and Rockwood (not VACS), frailty was significantly more severe in MND vs. no HAND and in HAD vs. ANI (asymptomatic neurocognitive impairment). For discriminating symptomatic HAND from no HAND, Fried was 37% sensitive and 92% specific, Rockwood was 85% sensitive and 43% specific, and VACS was 58% sensitive and 65% specific. CONCLUSION: These findings demonstrate that Fried and Rockwood outperform VACS in predicting HAND. However, ROC analyses suggest none of the indices had adequate predictive validity in detecting HAND. The results indicate that the combined use of the Rockwood and Fried indices may be an appropriate alternative.

Human immunodeficiency viruses (HIV) associated neurocognitive disorders (HAND) encompasses a group of syndromes of various degrees of impairment in cognition and daily functioning of HIV positive individuals. Although the widespread use of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) has drastically reduced the prevalence of severe form of HAND, like HIV associated dementia (HAD), the prevalence of HAND and associated morbidity remains high. OBJECTIVES: (1) To know the prevalence of HAND in HIV-infected patients of a multi-ethnic population. (2) To describe various types of neurocognitive impairment among patients of HAND and study the factors affecting HAND. STUDY DESIGN: This study was a cross-sectional descriptive study conducted on 250 HIV-positive patients in outpatient department (OPD) of a tertiary care center in Mumbai, conducted over a period of 12 months. Patients with HIV-1 attending the OPD and having a minimal formal education of 4 years were included. Patients with concomitant delirium, any known central nervous system (CNS) disorder, any psychiatric disorder, and pregnant females were excluded. Outcome measures-the test batteries used were (1) International HIV Dementia Scale (IHDS) and (2) Addenbrookes cognitive examination-revised (ACE-R) scale. RESULTS: Of 250 subjects studied, 55.6% (139) were males and 44.4 % (111) were females. The mean age of study population was 39.42 years. The mean years of education were 8.32 years. The mean duration of infection (diagnosis of HIV-positive state) was 64.49 months and the mean duration of HAART intake in our patients was 52.30 months. The mean cluster of differentiation 4 (CD4) counts of our subjects were 527.13 per cumm [standard deviation (SD) of 234.13]. The mean nadir CD4 counts were 224.35 per cumm (SD of 115.09). Using the ACE-R scale, the prevalence of HAND was 71.60%, of which 37.20% had an asymptomatic neurological impairment, 29.60% had mild cognitive dysfunction, and 4.80% had HAD. Memory, verbal fluency and visuospatial abilities were the most affected domains on the ACE-R and memory recall and psychomotor speed were affected more on the IHDS. The prevalence of HAND was more with increasing age (p = 0.020), lesser education (p < 0.00) and lesser nadir CD4 counts (p < 0.00). However, it was not affected by the duration of the disease and the current CD4 counts (p > 0.05). CONCLUSION: Human immunodeficiency viruses (HIV) associated neurocognitive disorders HAND is common in HIV-positive patients, most of whom are asymptomatic. Older patients with less education and severe disease, having lower nadir counts are at the highest risk of HAND. Memory, verbal fluency, and visuospatial abilities were the most commonly affected domains.

BACKGROUND: HIV-associated neurocognitive disorders (HAND) continue to manifest despite advancements and improved antiretroviral therapy coverage. Neurocognitive impairment is a significant predictor of poor prognosis related to poor antiretroviral therapy adherence and retention in HIV care. METHODS: This cross-sectional study examined 397 participants attending cared for and treatment at Dodoma Regional Referral Hospital (DRRH) and selected by systematic sampling. The combination of Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), International HIV Dementia Scale (IHDS), and The Lawton Instrumental Activity of Daily Living (IADL) were used to assess HIV-associated neurocognitive disorders. Factors associated with HAND were determined using univariate and multivariable logistic regression. RESULTS: Of 397 participants, 234(59.1%) met the criteria for HAND with 231(58.2%) comprising asymptomatic neurocognitive disorder (ANI) or mild neurocognitive disorders (MND), and 3 (0.76%) HIV- associated dementia (HAD). Participants with HAND had significantly poorer performance in each cognitive domain on both MoCA and IHDS. Under multivariable regression, age of 55 years or above with Adjusted Odds Ratio (AOR): 3.5 (95%CI: 1.1, 11.6), p = 0.041 and female gender (AOR): 2.7 (95%CI: 1, 6, 4.5), p<0.001 were significantly associated with HAND. Adherence to antiretroviral therapy AOR: 0.4(95%CI: 0.2, 1.0), p = 0.044, and attaining primary education AOR: 0.3(95%CI: 0.1, 0.8), p = 0.01 or secondary education AOR: 0.1(95%CI: 0.03, 0.2), p<0.001 compared to having no formal education showed good cognitive performance. CONCLUSION: HIV-associated neurocognitive disorders are common in HIV, especially ANI and MND, are common in HIV infected Tanzanians. Both socio-demographic and clinical variables influence neurocognitive functioning in this population. Screening for mild neurocognitive disorders may be indicated if effective treatment becomes available.

Introduction: the study assessed the effect of an educational intervention on healthcare workers´ knowledge regarding the use of the International HIV Dementia Scale (IHDS) in screening HIV-associated neurocognitive disorder (HAND) at The AIDS Support Organization (TASO) centres in Uganda. Methods: we recruited healthcare workers in southwestern and central Uganda. Data were collected by a questionnaire, cleaned, and analyzed using means and standard deviations. A paired t-test assessed mean knowledge score differences pre-and post-intervention. We used One-Way ANOVA for mean score differences between sites and cadres. Statistical significance was taken at p ≤ 0.05 and 95% confidence interval. Prevalence of HAND for clients screened during educational intervention was computed. Results: mean age was 36.38 years (SD = 7.80) and mean years of experience 8.92 (SD = 6.52). A paired t-test showed that pre-intervention mean score (Mean= 20.38, SD 2.94) was statistically different from post-intervention mean score (Mean=22.24, SD 2.15) at t (36) = - 4.933, p > 0.001). One-way ANOVA showed counselors were statistically different from clinical officers´ pre-intervention (Mean difference 4.432 (95% CI: 0.1- 8.85, p= 0.049) and post-intervention (Mean difference 3.364 (95% CI: 0.07 - 6.65, p= 0.042) respectively. There was no difference in mean knowledge scores between sites pre-intervention (F (4, 32) = 0.827, p = 0.518) and post-intervention (F (4, 32) = 1.299, p = 0.291). Of the 500 clients screened, 72.2% were positive for HAND. Conclusion: the educational intervention improved healthcare workers´ knowledge regarding screening HAND using IHDS at TASO centres in Southwestern and Central Uganda.

There are many obstacles to screening for HIV-associated neurocognitive disorders (HAND), including the influence of various sociodemographic effects on screening measures. This study examined possible racial bias on the HIV Dementia Scale (HDS) in screening for HAND among 39 Black and 84 White persons living with HIV (PLWH). Black PLWH had significantly lower raw HDS scores than White PLWH, which was mediated by lower oral word reading scores. Nevertheless, HDS scores were comparably predictive of clinical HAND diagnoses for Black and White PLWH as determined by a comprehensive battery; overall, individuals who failed the HDS were three times as likely to have HAND as compared to those who performed within normal limits (sensitivity = .26, specificity = .94). Consistent with prior literature exploring race-group differences, findings suggest that lower scores among Black PLWH compared to White PLWH on a commonly-used screening measure for HAND are partly explained by reading scores, perhaps reflecting differences in educational quality and opportunities. However, race-group differences did not affect the classification accuracy of the HDS in detecting HAND, although overall diagnostic accuracy was modest in both groups. Future work should determine the optimal neurocognitive screening methods for Black PLWH and other under-represented ethnoracial groups.

Dementia associated with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is currently a rare cause of rapidly progressive dementia. Its appearance is not only limited to the late phases of the disease, but can sometimes be the presenting symptom. We present the case of a patient who debuted with anxious-depressive symptoms and rapid cognitive deteri-oration with early repercussions on his daily functionality. HIV was detected in the study, with a higher viral load in cerebrospinal fluid than in plasma. Despite a torpid course at the beginning, antiretroviral therapy brought about a progressive improvement in the cognitive sphere, consistent with the decrease in the viral load. Although rare, HIV continues to be a cause of dementia that primary care and hospital care professionals should not forget. The relevance of its early diagnosis lies in its potentially reversible nature.

Background: The study aimed to derive socio-demographic-corrected norms for selecting neuropsychological (NP) battery tests for people living with HIV (PLWHIV) in Nigeria. This cross-sectional study was conducted amongst patients who attended the general outpatient clinic and junior staff of the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Ituku-Ozalla. Aims and Objectives: To determine the normative scores for select neuropsychological battery test for the detection of neurocognitive disorder amongst Nigerians PLWHIV. A sample of 92 individuals received voluntary HIV testing. Methods: Eligibility criteria were being HIV negative, aged 18-64 years and formal education. We undertook a brief neuromedical examination to identify putative exclusion criteria. We sampled four NP tests covering seven cognitive domains and the motor speed component of the International HIV Dementia Scale (IHDS-MS). We presented the normative scores using statistics of mean, median, standard deviation (SD), kurtosis and skewness. Results: All the participants were Nigerians aged 18-64 years. Most (74.1%) of the participants were females. The mean and median ages of the participants were 42.6 ± 11.42 years and 44 years, respectively. The effect of gender on NP performance was limited to the digit span test (DST)-forwards, while education affected all expect IHDS-MS and DST-backwards. The cut-off scores for defining mild and severe impairment varied (moving from 1SD to 2SD) for all cognitive domains except for IHDS-MS and DST. Conclusions: With these preliminary normative scores, it will be easier to identify and classify the severity of neurocognitive impairment amongst PLWHIV in Nigeria, thus facilitating the goal of keeping HIV-associated dementia to a minimum. The lack of variability in the IHDS-MS and DST is unfavourable.

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: HIV-associated neurocognitive disorders (HAND) continues to be prevalent in people living with HIV despite antiretroviral therapy. However, understanding disease mechanisms and identifying therapeutic avenues has been challenging. One of the challenges is that HAND is a heterogeneous disease and that patients identified with similar impairments phenotypically may have very different underlying disease processes. As the NeuroAIDS field is re-evaluating the approaches used to identify patients with HIV-associated neurological impairments, we propose the subtyping of patients into biotypes based on viral and immune pathogenesis. RECENT FINDINGS: Here we review the evidence supporting subtyping patients with HIV-associated neurological complications into four biotypes: macrophage-mediated HIV encephalitis, CNS viral escape, T-cell-mediated HIV encephalitis, and HIV protein-associated encephalopathy. SUMMARY: Subtyping patients into subgroups based on biotypes has emerged as a useful approach for studying heterogeneous diseases. Understanding biotypes of HIV-associated neurocognitive impairments may therefore enable better understanding of disease mechanisms, allow for the development of prognostic and diagnostic markers, and could ultimately guide therapeutic decisions.

La demencia asociada a virus de la inmunodeficiencia humana (VIH) es una causa de demencia rápidamente progresiva poco frecuente en la actualidad. Su aparición no se limita a las fases tardías de la enfermedad, sino que en ocasiones puede ser el síntoma de presentación. Presentamos el caso de un paciente que debutó con síntomas ansioso-depresivos y un rápido deterioro cognitivo con repercusión precoz en su funcionalidad diaria. En el estudio se detectó VIH con mayor carga viral en líquido cefalorraquídeo que en plasma. La terapia antirretroviral logró, a pesar de la tórpida evolución inicial, una mejora progresiva en la esfera cognitiva, congruente con la disminución de la carga viral. Aunque poco frecuente, el VIH sigue siendo una causa de demencia que los profesionales de atención primaria y hospitalaria no debemos olvidar. La importancia de su diagnóstico precoz radica en su carácter potencialmente reversible.(AU)

RESUMEN

Extracellular vesicles are heterogeneous cell-derived membranous structures of nanometer size that carry diverse cargoes including nucleic acids, proteins, and lipids. Their secretion into the extracellular space and delivery of their cargo to recipient cells can alter cellular function and intracellular communication. In this review, we summarize the role of extracellular vesicles in the disease pathogenesis of HIV-associated neurocognitive disorder (HAND) by focusing on their role in viral entry, neuroinflammation, and neuronal degeneration. We also discuss the potential role of extracellular vesicles as biomarkers of HAND. Together, this review aims to convey the importance of extracellular vesicles in the pathogenesis of HAND and foster interest in their role in neuroinflammatory diseases.

Dementia interferes with the individual's motor, behavioural, and intellectual functions, causing him to be unable to perform instrumental activities of daily living. This study is aimed at identifying the best performing algorithm and the most relevant characteristics to categorise individuals with HIV/AIDS at high risk of dementia from the application of data mining. Principal component analysis (PCA) algorithm was used and tested comparatively between the following machine learning algorithms: logistic regression, decision tree, neural network, KNN, and random forest. The database used for this study was built from the data collection of 270 individuals infected with HIV/AIDS and followed up at the outpatient clinic of a reference hospital for infectious and parasitic diseases in the State of Ceará, Brazil, from January to April 2019. Also, the performance of the algorithms was analysed for the 104 characteristics available in the database; then, with the reduction of dimensionality, there was an improvement in the quality of the machine learning algorithms and identified that during the tests, even losing about 30% of the variation. Besides, when considering only 23 characteristics, the precision of the algorithms was 86% in random forest, 56% logistic regression, 68% decision tree, 60% KNN, and 59% neural network. The random forest algorithm proved to be more effective than the others, obtaining 84% precision and 86% accuracy.

BACKGROUND: Despite effective combination antiretroviral therapy (cART), people living with HIV (PLWH) remain at risk for developing neurocognitive impairment primarily due to systemic inflammation that persists despite virologic suppression, albeit the mechanisms underlying such inflammation are poorly understood. METHODS: Herein, we evaluate the predictive capacity of the mitochondrial redox environment on circulating neuro- and T-lymphocyte-related inflammation and concomitant cognitive function in 40 virally-suppressed PLWH and 40 demographically-matched controls using structural equation modeling. We used state-of-the-art systems biology approaches including Seahorse Analyzer of mitochondrial function, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy to measure superoxide levels, antioxidant activity assays, and Meso Scale multiplex technology to quantify inflammatory proteins in the periphery. FINDINGS: We observed disturbances in mitochondrial function and the redox environment in PLWH compared to controls, which included reduced mitochondrial capacity (t(76) = -1.85, p = 0.034, 95% CI: -∞,-0.13), elevated levels of superoxide (t(75) = 1.70, p = 0.047, 95% CI: 8.01 E 3, ∞) and alterations in antioxidant defense mechanisms (t(74) = 1.76, p = 0.041, 95% CI: -710.92, ∞). Interestingly, alterations in both superoxide- and hydrogen peroxide-sensitive redox environments were differentially predictive of neuro-, but not T-lymphocyte-related inflammatory profiles in PLWH and controls, respectively (ps < 0.026). Finally, when accounting for superoxide-sensitive redox pathways, neuroinflammatory profiles significantly predicted domain-specific cognitive function across our sample (ß = -0.24, p = 0.034, 95% CI: -0.09, -0.004 for attention; ß = -0.26, p = 0.018, 95% CI: -0.10, -0.01 for premorbid function). INTERPRETATION: Our results suggest that precursors to neuroinflammation apparent in PLWH (i.e., mitochondrial function and redox environments) predict overall functionality and cognitive dysfunction and importantly, may serve as a proxy for characterizing inflammation-related functional decline in the future. HIV-1 is responsible for the development of a spectrum of cognitive impairments known as HIV-associated neurocognitive disorder (HAND). In the era of antiretroviral therapy (ART), HAND remains prevalent in people living with HIV (PLWH), despite low or undetectable viral loads. Persistent neuroinflammation likely plays an important role in the contributing biological mechanisms. Multiple cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) immune markers have been studied but it is unclear which markers most consistently correlate with neurocognitive impairment. We therefore conducted a systematic review of studies of the association of CSF immune markers with neurocognitive performance in ART-experienced PLWH. We aimed to synthesize the published data to determine consistent findings and to indicate the most noteworthy CSF markers of HAND. Twenty-nine studies were included, with 20 cross-sectional studies and 9 longitudinal studies. From the group of markers most often assayed, specific monocyte activation (higher levels of Neopterin, sCD163, sCD14) and neuroinflammatory markers (higher levels of IFN-γ, IL-1α, IL-7, IL-8, sTNFR-II and lower levels of IL-6) showed a consistent direction in association with HIV-associated neurocognitive impairment. Furthermore, significant differences exist in CSF immune markers between HIV-positive people with and without neurocognitive impairment, regardless of viral load and nadir/current CD4+ count. These markers may be useful in furthering our understanding of the neuropathology, diagnosis and prognosis of HAND. Studies using prospective designs (i.e. pre- and post-interventions), "multi-modal" methods (e.g. imaging, inflammation and neurocognitive evaluations) and utilizing a combination of the markers most commonly associated with HAND may help delineate the mechanisms of HAND.

HIV-associated neurocognitive disorder (HAND) remains prevalent despite antiretroviral therapy and involves white matter damage in the brain. Although iron is essential for myelination and myelin maintenance/repair, its role in HAND is largely unexplored. We tested the hypotheses that cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) heavy-chain ferritin (Fth1) and transferrin, proteins integral to iron delivery and myelination, are associated with neurocognitive performance in people with HIV (PWH). Fth1, transferrin, and the pro-inflammatory cytokines TNF-α and IL-6 were quantified in CSF at baseline (entry) in 403 PWH from a prospective observational study who underwent serial, comprehensive neurocognitive assessments. Associations of Fth1 and transferrin with Global Deficit Score (GDS)-defined neurocognitive performance at baseline and 30-42 months of follow-up were evaluated by multivariable regression. While not associated with neurocognitive performance at baseline, higher baseline CSF Fth1 predicted significantly better neurocognitive performance over 30 months in all PWH (p < 0.05), in PWH aged < 50 at 30, 36, and 42 months (all p < 0.05), and in virally suppressed PWH at all three visit time-points (all p < 0.01). Higher CSF transferrin was associated with superior neurocognitive performance at all visits, primarily in viremic individuals (all p < 0.05). All associations persisted after adjustment for neuro-inflammation. In summary, higher CSF Fth1 is neuroprotective over prolonged follow-up in all and virally suppressed PWH, while higher CSF transferrin may be most neuroprotective during viremia. We speculate that higher CSF levels of these critical iron-delivery proteins support improved myelination and consequently, neurocognitive performance in PWH, providing a rationale for investigating their role in interventions to prevent and/or treat HAND.

There is wide variation in the reported prevalence of cognitive impairment in people with HIV (PWH). Part of this variation may be attributable to different studies using different methods of combining neuropsychological test scores to classify participants as either cognitively impaired or unimpaired. Our aim was to determine, in a South African cohort of PWH (N = 148), (a) how much variation in reported rates was due to method used to define cognitive impairment and (b) which method correlated best with MRI biomarkers of HIV-related brain pathology. Participants completed detailed neuropsychological assessment and underwent 3 T structural MRI and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI). We used the neuropsychological data to investigate 20 different methods of determining HIV-associated cognitive impairment. We used the neuroimaging data to obtain volumes for cortical and subcortical grey matter and total white matter and DTI metrics for several white matter tracts. Applying each of the 20 methods to the cognitive dataset resulted in a wide variation (20-97%) in estimated rates of impairment. Logistic regression models showed no method was associated with HIV-related neuroimaging abnormalities as measured by structural volumes or DTI metrics. We conclude that for the population from which this sample was drawn, much of the variation in reported rates of cognitive impairment in PWH is due to the method of classification used, and that none of these methods accurately reflects biological effects of HIV in the brain. We suggest that defining HIV-associated cognitive impairment using neuropsychological test performance only is insufficient; pre-morbid functioning, co-morbidities, cognitive symptoms, and functional impairment should always be considered.

There is a growing need for brief screening measures for HIV Associated Neurocognitive Disorders (HAND). We compared two commonly used measures (the Montreal Cognitive Assessment [MoCA] and the International HIV Dementia Scale [IHDS]) in their ability to identify asymptomatic HAND (i.e., asymptomatic neurocognitive impairment [ANI]). Participants included 74 Thai PLWH: 38 met Frascati criteria for ANI and 36 were cognitively normal (CN). Participants completed Thai language versions of the MoCA (MoCA-T) and IHDS, and a validated neurocognitive battery. We examined between-group differences for MoCA-T and IHDS total scores, and scale subcomponents. We also conducted receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analyses to determine the ability of the MoCA-T and IHDS to discriminate between CN and ANI groups, and compared their area under the curve (AUC) values. Results revealed lower MoCA-T total score, as well as the Visuospatial/Executive and Delayed Recall subtask scores, in the ANI relative to CN group. Groups did not differ on the IHDS. For ROC analyses, the MoCA-T, but not the IHDS, significantly differentiated the ANI from CN group, and there was a significant difference in AUC values between the MoCA-T (AUC = .71) and IHDS (AUC = .56). Sensitivity and specificity statistics were poor for both screening measures. These data indicate while the MoCA-T functions better than the IHDS in detecting Thai PLWH with ANI, the mildest form of HAND, neither cognitive screener, showed strong utility. Our findings reflect the limited efficacy of common screening measures in detecting subtler cognitive deficits among Thai PLWH, and highlight the need for better screening tools.

Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) lacks of sensitivity in detecting cognitive deficits associated with subcortical damage. The HIV-Dementia Scale (HDS), a screening tool originally created for detecting cognitive impairment due to subcortical damage in HIV + patients, has proved to be useful in other neurological diseases. Until now, an Italian version of the HDS is not available. We aimed at: (1) validating the HDS Italian version (HDS-IT) in a cohort of cognitively healthy subjects (CN); (2) exploring the suitability of HDS-IT in detecting cognitive impairment due to subcortical damage (scCI). The psychometric properties of the HDS-IT were assessed in 180 CN (mean age 67.6 ± 8.3, range 41-84) with regard to item-total correlation, test-retest reliability and convergent validity with MMSE. Item-total correlations ranged 0.44-0.72. Test-retest reliability was 0.70 (p < 0.001). The HDS-IT scores were positively associated with MMSE score (rS = 0.49, p < 0.001). Then, both the HDS-IT and the MMSE were administered to 44 scCI subjects (mean age 64.9 ± 10.6, range 41-84). Mean HDS-IT total score was close to the original version and significantly lower in the scCI group compared to CN (8.6 ± 3.6 vs. 12.6 ± 2.5, p < 0.001). ROC analysis yielded an optimal cutoff value of 11, with sensitivity of 0.70 and specificity of 0.82. Patients showed poorer scores on HDS-IT compared to CN (12.6 ± 2.5 vs. 8.6 ± 3.6, p < 0.001). Our results support the use of HDS-IT as a screening tool suitable for detecting cognitive deficits with prevalent subcortical pattern, being complementary to MMSE in clinical practice.

We hypothesized that humoral immunity stimulation in the CNS in HIV-1C patients would be lower than that in HIV-1B due to a defective Tat chemokine dimotif (C30C31) that might influence cellular trafficking and CNS inflammation. Sixty-eight paired CSF and blood samples from people with HIV (PWH), free of CNS opportunistic infections, were included, HIV-1B (n = 27), HIV-1C (n = 26), and HIV negative (n = 25). IgG intrathecal synthesis was assayed using quantitative and qualitative methods. IgG oligoclonal bands (OCB) in CSF were observed in 51% of PWH, comparable between HIV-1B and HIV-1C, as well as the medians of IgG intrathecal synthesis formulas. The group with HIV infection aviremic in CSF and blood showed 75% of OCB. There was a poor positive correlation between the IgG quotient and GDS. The impact of HIV-1 on IgG intrathecal production was not subtype dependent. Low-grade CNS intrathecal IgG production persists in HIV CNS infection even in PWH with CSF and blood HIV RNA controlled.
