RESUMEN

The genetic epidemiology of Trichomonas vaginalis is poorly understood at present. The recent release of the organism's genome sequence opens the way to investigation of polymorphic markers allowing strain identification. We here report a preliminary analysis of microsatellite loci in T. vaginalis and show that this approach holds promise for future studies of infection transmission and organism diversity.

RESUMEN

Trichomoniasis is a significant STD worldwide. Clinical studies have demonstrated that trichomoniasis may have serious side effects both in pregnancy and in a predisposition to retrovirus infection. Therefore it is important that clinicians request the most accurate diagnostic test available. This is mandated by the significant percentage of both male and female patients that may be asymptomatic. Numerous clinical studies have indicated that the most sensitive test for T. vaginalis is with culture. The InPouch TV culture test has demonstrated high sensitivity, long shelf life, and microscopic advantages over other culture procedures.

RESUMEN

The paper presents methods of Fuzzy Set Theory which can be a helpful key to medical diagnosis on the basis of symptoms as well as to the differentiating the effectiveness of action of drugs (metronidazole, tinidazole and ornidazole) in trichomoniasis. The relationship between patients and symptoms, symptoms and diagnoses or patients and diagnoses is considered as a fuzzy relation. A max-min composite fuzzy relation is a mathematical apparatus for finding the diagnoses such as: trichomoniasis, mycoses or bacterial infection. The solution of the other problem is based determining an eigen fuzzy set, associated with a given fuzzy relation, which can help to predict the theoretical maximal and minimal levels of recovery.
