RESUMEN

INTRODUCTION: Non-ST-elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS) remains a significant clinical concern, accounting for over 70% of acute coronary syndrome cases. One well-established risk factor for NSTE-ACS is abnormal glucose metabolism, which is associated with a poor prognosis postpercutaneous coronary intervention. Effective monitoring of blood glucose is crucial in diabetes care, as it helps identify glucose metabolic imbalances, thereby guiding therapeutic strategies and assessing treatment efficacy. Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) provides comprehensive glucose profiles. Therefore, the study aims to use CGM to track perioperative glucose variations in NSTE-ACS patients and to determine its prognostic implications. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: This is a multicentre, prospective observational study in a sample of patients (aged >18 years) with NSTE-ACS. A total of 1200 eligible patients will be recruited within 1 year at 6 sites in China. The primary composite endpoint will be determined as major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) at 3 years. MACE includes all-cause mortality, non-fatal myocardial infarction, non-fatal stroke and target vessel revascularisation. Employing the CGM system, glucose levels will be continuously monitored throughout the perioperative phase. Prespecified cardiovascular analyses included analyses of the components of this composite and outcomes according to CGM-derived glucometrics at baseline. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION: This study has received approval from the Medical Research Ethics Committee of The First Affiliated Hospital of the University of Science and Technology of China (No. 2022KY357) and will adhere to the moral, ethical and scientific principles outlined in the Declaration of Helsinki. All participants will provide written informed consent prior to any study-related procedures. Findings from the study will be shared at conferences and published in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Cancer is a widespread disease in our nation, characterized by a high occurrence rate. The use of tumor medications has been linked to an increased chance of cardiovascular complications, including a notable occurrence of heart toxicity. This has caused significant concern among healthcare professionals. This article provides a comprehensive compilation of drugs recognized for their potential to cause heart toxicity. Furthermore, extensive research has been conducted to investigate and categorize the effects of heart toxicity, with the purpose of promoting awareness, facilitating early intervention, and ultimately reducing the occurrence of heart toxicity. At the same time, there is an anticipation that Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) can capitalize on its unique attributes to address such ailments. To establish its effectiveness, it is crucial to carry out extensive clinical trials or retrospective analyses. The purpose of this article is to summarize the possible mechanisms of cardiac toxicity caused by commonly used chemotherapy drugs and summarize the possible mechanisms of adverse cardiac toxicity, laying the groundwork for subsequent research.

The underwater superoleophobicity of a coating is often caused by its preferential water affinity, which, however, normally weakens the substrate adhesion property. In this work, a new strategy is reported for achieving strong underwater adhesion between a well-designed amphiphilic polyurethane coating and a diverse range of substrates while also rendering the coating surface's superoleophobicity. When the coating, which is a mixture of an amphiphilic polyurethane and a water miscible solvent, is immersed in water, the hydrophobic segments aggregate to orientate and pile along the surface of substrates via a segment orientation mechanism triggered by solvent exchange with water penetration to exert strong adhesion. At the same time, the hydrophilic segments will physically crosslink to form a hydrogel coating, endowing the substrate with underwater superoleophobicity. This work provides a facile, versatile, and scalable approach for the future design of superoleophobic coatings in a water environment.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the therapeutic effects of Eight Trigrams Boxing combined with a Wenyang Huoxue recipe on the cardiopulmonary motor function and quality of life in patients with coronary heart disease after an interventional operation (percutaneous coronary intervention [PCI]); further, to provide new clinical evidence and ideas for integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine in cardiac rehabilitation. METHODS: Sixty patients were selected and successfully underwent PCI in designated hospitals after four weeks, from June 2018 to September 2020. The patients were randomly divided into a treatment group and control group, and both groups were given standard pharmaceuticals after PCI and the Wenyang Huoxue recipe. The treatment group was additionally treated with the Eight Trigrams Boxing Method. The control group was provided with aerobic rehabilitation exercise. The maximum oxygen uptake (VO2max), metabolic equivalent (MET), the results of a 6-min walking test, the Seattle Angina Questionnaire (SAQ) score, SF-36 score, and other indicators were evaluated before and after treatment. The therapeutic effect was evaluated by comparison between the groups and within the groups. RESULTS: The VO2max, MET, 6-min walking distance, SAQ score, and SF-36 score in both groups improved after treatment compared with before treatment. There was no difference between the two groups before treatment. However, after treatment, the VO2max, MET, 6 min walking distance, SAQ score, and SF-36 score in the treatment group were higher compared with the control group. CONCLUSION: A traditional Chinese medicine cardiac rehabilitation program of Eight Trigrams Boxing combined with a Wenyang Huoxue recipe can improve the cardiopulmonary function and quality of life of patients. The therapeutic effect was clear and is worthy of further investigation.

Materials with opposite affinities toward oil and water have been extensively used to coat porous substrates for oil-water separation, but the applications of these materials have been limited by the need for complex coating processes as well as the short-term adherence of these materials onto different substrates under extreme conditions. As reported herein, the robust porous polyurethane hydrogel has been theoretically and structurally designed with ultralow-oil-adhesion properties which is free stand without depending on additional substrates. The combination of superhydrophilic properties along with the underwater superoleophobic behavior of this porous hydrogel allows gravity driven separations of oil-water mixtures, and its antiadhesion performance toward oil prevents undesirable oily fouling. The underwater superoleophobic properties were also illustrated by molecular dynamics simulation to understand the resisting effect of hydrated layers. The as-prepared porous hydrogel shows ultrahigh oil-water separation efficiencies of 99.9% for various oil-water mixtures, ranging from those containing viscous oils (pump oil and peanut oil) to organic solvents (n-hexane, n-hexadecane, and toluene). In addition, this hydrogel is durable even with exposure to various harsh conditions including acidic and basic media (pH 0-14) as well as exposure to mechanical abrasion. We believe that the combination of facile preparation, substrate independence, gravity driven separation, antifouling properties, high durability, as well as the outstanding separation flux and efficiency of this robust porous hydrogel will help to advance the design and application of materials in oil-water separation fields.
