Growing evidences showed that heavy metals exposure may be associated with metabolic diseases. Nevertheless, the mechanism underlying arsenic (As) exposure and metabolic syndrome (MetS) risk has not been fully elucidated. So we aimed to prospectively investigate the role of serum uric acid (SUA) on the association between blood As exposure and incident MetS. A sample of 1045 older participants in a community in China was analyzed. We determined As at baseline and SUA concentration at follow-up in the Yiwu Elderly Cohort. MetS events were defined according to the criteria of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF). Generalized linear model with log-binominal regression model was applied to estimate the association of As with incident MetS. To investigate the role of SUA in the association between As and MetS, a mediation analysis was conducted. In the fully adjusted log-binominal model, per interquartile range increment of As, the risk of MetS increased 1.25-fold. Compared with the lowest quartile of As, the adjusted relative risk (RR) of MetS in the highest quartile was 1.42 (95% confidence interval, CI: 1.03, 2.00). Additionally, blood As was positively associated with SUA, while SUA had significant association with MetS risk. Further mediation analysis demonstrated that the association of As and MetS risk was mediated by SUA, with the proportion of 15.7%. Our study found higher As was remarkably associated with the elevated risk of MetS in the Chinese older adults population. Mediation analysis indicated that SUA might be a mediator in the association between As exposure and MetS.

Although the disrupted corticospinal tract can self-regenerate to a certain degree, the underlying mechanism of this process is still unclear. N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modifications are the most common form of epigenetic regulation at the RNA level and play an essential role in biological processes. However, whether m6A modifications participate in corticospinal tract regeneration after spinal cord injury remains unknown. We found that expression of methyltransferase 14 protein (METTL14) in the locomotor cortex was high after spinal cord injury and accompanied by elevated m6A levels. Knockdown of Mettl14 in the locomotor cortex was not favorable for corticospinal tract regeneration and neurological recovery after spinal cord injury. Through bioinformatics analysis and methylated RNA immunoprecipitation-quantitative polymerase chain reaction, we found that METTL14 regulated Trib2 expression in an m6A-regulated manner, thereby activating the mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway and promoting corticospinal tract regeneration. Finally, we administered syringin, a stabilizer of METTL14, using molecular docking. Results confirmed that syringin can promote corticospinal tract regeneration and facilitate neurological recovery by stabilizing METTL14. Findings from this study reveal that m6A modification is involved in the regulation of corticospinal tract regeneration after spinal cord injury.

The adsorption of pollutants can not only promote the direct surface reaction, but also modify the catalyst itself to improve its photoelectric characteristics, which is rarely studied for water treatment with inorganic photocatalyst. A highly crystalline BiOBr (c-BiOBr) was synthesized by a two-step preparation process. Owing to the calcination, the highly crystalline enhanced the interface interaction between pollutant and c-BiOBr. The complex of organic pollutant and [Bi2O2]2+ could promote the active electron transfer from the adsorbed pollutant to c-BiOBr for the direct pollutant degradation by holes (h+). Moreover, the pollutant adsorption actually modified c-BiOBr and promoted more unpaired electrons, which would coupling with the photoexcitation to promote generate more O2•-. The molecular modification effect derived from pollutant adsorption significantly improved the removal of pollutants. This work strongly deepens the understanding of the molecular modification effect from the pollutant adsorption and develops a novel and efficient approach for water treatment.

Papillary adenomas, known precursors to papillary adenocarcinoma, warrant close monitoring due to their malignant potential. Historically, surgical resection represented the mainstay of treatment for papillary adenomas with intraductal extension. However, recent advancements in endoscopic techniques have facilitated the adoption of endoscopic papillectomy as a minimally invasive alternative in carefully selected cases. We report a case of an 82-year-old woman with a diagnosis of papillary adenoma exhibiting intraductal extension. This was managed with a novel endoscopic technique, balloon catheter-assisted endoscopic resection. Due to the obscured intraductal component of the papillary mass, a balloon occlusion catheter was deployed within the common bile duct and used as traction to facilitate endoscopic visualization of the mass. Endoscopic resection via papillectomy was subsequently performed. Histopathological examination of the resected specimen revealed a villous adenoma with high-grade dysplasia. Serial endoscopic ultrasound examinations with targeted papillary biopsies were performed to monitor for disease recurrence.

Biomineralization has garnered significant attention in the field of wastewater treatment due to its notable cost reduction compared to conventional methods. The reinjection water from oilfields containing an exceedingly high concentration of calcium and ferric ions will pose a major hazard in production. However, the utilization of biomineralization for precipitating these ions has been scarcely investigated due to limited tolerance among halophiles towards such extreme conditions. In this study, free and immobilized halophiles Virgibacillus dokdonensis were used to precipitate these ions and the effects were compared, at the same time, biomineralization mechanisms and mineral characteristics were further explored. The results show that bacterial concentration and carbonic anhydrase activity were higher when additionally adding ferric ion based on calcium ion; the content of protein, polysaccharides, deoxyribonucleic acid and humic substances in the extracellular polymers also increased compared to control. Calcium ions were biomineralized into calcite and vaterite with multiple morphology. Due to iron doping, the crystallinity and thermal stability of calcium carbonate decreased, the content of OC = O, NC = O and CO-PO3 increased, the stable carbon isotope values became much more negative, and ß-sheet in minerals disappeared. Higher calcium concentrations facilitated ferric ion precipitation, while ferric ions hindered calcium precipitation. The immobilized bacteria performed better in ferric ion removal, with a precipitation ratio exceeding 90%. Free bacteria performed better in calcium removal, and the precipitation ratio reached a maximum of 56%. This research maybe provides some reference for the co-removal of calcium and ferric ions from the oilfield wastewater.

Arsenic (As) pollution in soils is a pervasive environmental issue. Biochar immobilization offers a promising solution for addressing soil As contamination. The efficiency of biochar in immobilizing As in soils primarily hinges on the characteristics of both the soil and the biochar. However, the influence of a specific property on As immobilization varies among different studies, and the development and application of arsenic passivation materials based on biochar often rely on empirical knowledge. To enhance immobilization efficiency and reduce labor and time costs, a machine learning (ML) model was employed to predict As immobilization efficiency before biochar application. In this study, we collected a dataset comprising 182 data points on As immobilization efficiency from 17 publications to construct three ML models. The results demonstrated that the random forest (RF) model outperformed gradient boost regression tree and support vector regression models in predictive performance. Relative importance analysis and partial dependence plots based on the RF model were conducted to identify the most crucial factors influencing As immobilization. These findings highlighted the significant roles of biochar application time and biochar pH in As immobilization efficiency in soils. Furthermore, the study revealed that Fe-modified biochar exhibited a substantial improvement in As immobilization. These insights can facilitate targeted biochar property design and optimization of biochar application conditions to enhance As immobilization efficiency.

High-mobility group box 1 was first discovered in the calf thymus as a DNA-binding nuclear protein and has been widely studied in diverse fields, including neurology and neuroscience. High-mobility group box 1 in the extracellular space functions as a pro-inflammatory damage-associated molecular pattern, which has been proven to play an important role in a wide variety of central nervous system disorders such as ischemic stroke, Alzheimer's disease, frontotemporal dementia, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, and traumatic brain injury. Several drugs that inhibit high-mobility group box 1 as a damage-associated molecular pattern, such as glycyrrhizin, ethyl pyruvate, and neutralizing anti-high-mobility group box 1 antibodies, are commonly used to target high-mobility group box 1 activity in central nervous system disorders. Although it is commonly known for its detrimental inflammatory effect, high-mobility group box 1 has also been shown to have beneficial pro-regenerative roles in central nervous system disorders. In this narrative review, we provide a brief summary of the history of high-mobility group box 1 research and its characterization as a damage-associated molecular pattern, its downstream receptors, and intracellular signaling pathways, how high-mobility group box 1 exerts the repair-favoring roles in general and in the central nervous system, and clues on how to differentiate the pro-regenerative from the pro-inflammatory role. Research targeting high-mobility group box 1 in the central nervous system may benefit from differentiating between the two functions rather than overall suppression of high-mobility group box 1.

JOURNAL/nrgr/04.03/01300535-202501000-00034/figure1/v/2024-05-14T021156Z/r/image-tiff Certain amino acids changes in the human Na+/K+-ATPase pump, ATPase Na+/K+ transporting subunit alpha 1 (ATP1A1), cause Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 2 (CMT2) disease and refractory seizures. To develop in vivo models to study the role of Na+/K+-ATPase in these diseases, we modified the Drosophila gene homolog, Atpα, to mimic the human ATP1A1 gene mutations that cause CMT2. Mutations located within the helical linker region of human ATP1A1 (I592T, A597T, P600T, and D601F) were simultaneously introduced into endogenous DrosophilaAtpα by CRISPR/Cas9-mediated genome editing, generating the AtpαTTTF model. In addition, the same strategy was used to generate the corresponding single point mutations in flies (AtpαI571T, AtpαA576T, AtpαP579T, and AtpαD580F). Moreover, a deletion mutation (Atpαmut) that causes premature termination of translation was generated as a positive control. Of these alleles, we found two that could be maintained as homozygotes (AtpαI571T and AtpαP579T). Three alleles (AtpαA576T, AtpαP579 and AtpαD580F) can form heterozygotes with the Atpαmut allele. We found that the Atpα allele carrying these CMT2-associated mutations showed differential phenotypes in Drosophila. Flies heterozygous for AtpαTTTF mutations have motor performance defects, a reduced lifespan, seizures, and an abnormal neuronal morphology. These Drosophila models will provide a new platform for studying the function and regulation of the sodium-potassium pump.

However, conventional topical drug delivery often results in a burst release of the drug, leading to transient retention (inefficacy) and undesirable diffusion (toxicity) in vivo. Therefore, a drug delivery system that responds to changes in the microenvironment of tissue regeneration and controls vascular endothelial growth factor release is crucial to improve the treatment of ischemic stroke. Matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) is gradually upregulated after cerebral ischemia. Herein, vascular endothelial growth factor mimic peptide QK was self-assembled with MMP-2-cleaved peptide PLGLAG (TIMP) and customizable peptide amphiphilic (PA) molecules to construct nanofiber hydrogel PA-TIMP-QK. PA-TIMP-QK was found to control the delivery of QK by MMP-2 upregulation after cerebral ischemia/reperfusion and had a similar biological activity with vascular endothelial growth factor in vitro. The results indicated that PA-TIMP-QK promoted neuronal survival, restored local blood circulation, reduced blood-brain barrier permeability, and restored motor function. These findings suggest that the self-assembling nanofiber hydrogel PA-TIMP-QK may provide an intelligent drug delivery system that responds to the microenvironment and promotes regeneration and repair after cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury.

The incidence of common gynecological malignancies remains high, with current treatments facing multiple limitations and adverse effects. Thus, continuing the search for safe and effective oncologic treatment strategies continues. Resveratrol (RES), a natural non-flavonoid polyphenolic compound, is widely found in various plants and fruits, such as grapes, Reynoutria japonica Houtt., peanuts, and berries. RES possesses diverse biological properties, including neuroprotective, antitumor, anti-inflammatory, and osteoporosis inhibition effects. Notably, RES is broadly applicable in antitumor therapy, particularly for treating gynecological tumors (cervical, endometrial, and ovarian carcinomas). RES exerts antitumor effects by promoting tumor cell apoptosis, inhibiting cell proliferation, invasion, and metastasis, regulating tumor cell autophagy, and enhancing the efficacy of antitumor drugs while minimizing their toxic side effects. However, comprehensive reviews on the role of RES in combating gynecological tumors and its mechanisms of action are lacking. This review aims to fill this gap by examining the RES antitumor mechanisms of action in gynecological tumors, providing valuable insights for clinical treatment.

Background: We analyzed the effects of psychological capital on organizational commitment and turnover intention among flight attendants at a Korean airline and the mediating effect of organizational commitment. Methods: Data were collected through a 2022 survey of Korean flight attendants, yielding 297 responses. Model reliability and validity were assessed to confirm hypotheses. Results: Hope had a significant negative effect on turnover intention P<0.05), whereas optimism and resilience did not have significant effects on turnover intention. Additionally, hope had a significant positive effect on normative and continuance commitment, unlike optimism and resilience, which did not have significant effects on normative commitment or continuance commitment. Both normative commitment and continuance commitment negatively influenced turnover intention. Organizational commitment mediated the relationship between psychological capital and turnover intention, reinforcing the positive impact of psychological capital on reducing turnover intention. Conclusion: This study underscores the significance of psychological capital in shaping organizational commitment and reducing turnover intention among Korean flight attendants. Strengthening psychological capital and fostering organizational commitment can bolster airline stability, competitiveness, and service quality.

Introduction: Congenital disorders of glycosylation (CDG) refer to monogenetic diseases characterized by defective glycosylation of proteins or lipids causing multi-organ disorders. Here, we investigate the clinical features and genetic variants of SSR4-CDG and conduct a preliminary investigation of its pathogenesis. Methods: We retrospectively report the clinical data of a male infant with early life respiratory distress, congenital diaphragmatic eventration, cosmetic deformities, and moderate growth retardation. Peripheral blood was collected from the case and parents, genomic DNA was extracted and whole-exome sequencing was performed. The mRNA expression of SSR4 gene was quantified by Real-time Quantitative PCR. RNA sequencing analysis was subsequently performed on the case and a healthy child. Results: Whole-exome sequencing of the case and his parents' genomic DNA identified a hemizygous c.80_96del in SSR4, combined with the case's clinical features, the diagnosis of CDG was finally considered. In this case, the expression of SSR4 was downregulated. The case were present with 1,078 genes downregulated and 536 genes upregulated. SSR4 gene expression was significantly downregulated in the case. Meanwhile, gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) revealed that SSR4-CDG may affect hemostasis, coagulation, catabolism, erythrocyte development and homeostatic regulation, and muscle contraction and regulation, etc. Improvement of growth retardation in case after high calorie formula feeding and rehabilitation training. Conclusion: Our study expanded the SSR4-CDG variant spectrum and clinical phenotype and analyzed pathways potentially affected by SSR4-CDG, which may provide further insights into the function of SSR4 and help clinicians better understand this disorder.

The development of inexpensive non-precious metal materials as high-efficiency stable oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) catalysts holds significant promise for application in metal-air batteries. Here, we synthesized a series of nanohybrids formed from MnO nanoparticles anchored on N-doped Ketjenblack carbon (MnO/NC) via a facile hydrothermal reaction and pyrolysis strategy. We systematically investigated the influence of pyrolysis temperature (600 to 900 °C) on the ORR activities of the MnO/NC samples. At the optimized pyrolysis temperature of 900 °C, the resulting MnO/NC (referred to as MnO/NC-900) exhibited superior ORR activity (onset potential = 0.85 V; half-wave potential = 0.74 V), surpassing other MnO/NC samples and nitrogen-doped Ketjenblack carbon (NC). Additionally, MnO/NC-900 demonstrated better stability than the Pt/C catalyst. The enhanced ORR activity of MnO/NC-900 was attributed to the synergy effect between MnO and NC, abundant surface carbon defects and surface-active components (N species and oxygen vacancies). Notably, the Zinc-air battery (ZAB) equipped MnO/NC-900 as the cathode catalyst delivered promising performance metrics, including a high peak power density of 146.5 mW cm-2, a large specific capacity of 795 mA h gZn -1, and an excellent cyclability up to 360 cycles. These results underscore the potential of this nanohybrid for applications in energy storage devices.

Introduction: Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) have been widely studied and used as nutritional supplements because of their anti-inflammatory effects. Previous studies have shown an association between polyunsaturated fatty acids such as omega-3 and omega-6 PUFAs with the development of malignant tumors. However, the relationships of omega-3 and omega-6 PUFAs with esophageal diseases have not been characterized. Methods: Mendelian randomization (MR) is a statistical method for identifying instrumental variables (IVs) from genome-wide association study (GWAS) data, and is associated with little confounding by environmental or other disease-related factors. We used genome-wide association study (GWAS) data from previously published studies on circulating concentrations of omega-3, omega-6, docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and linoleic acid (LA), as well as esophageal cancer and other esophageal diseases, which were downloaded from the IEU OpenGwas database (https://gwas.mrcieu.ac.uk/) and the GWAS Catalog database (https://www.ebi.ac.uk/). The inverse variance-weighted approach was used as the principal analysis, and the MR-Egger and weighted median methods were used alongside. A series of sensitivity analyses were used to ensure the robustness of the causality estimates. Results: We found that the circulating omega-3 PUFAs concentration was positively associated with esophageal cancer (p = 8 × 10-4), and circulating DHA concentration (the main component of omega-3 in food), was also positively associated with esophageal cancer (p = 2 × 10-2), but no significant association was found between circulating omega-6 PUFAs and esophageal cancer (p = 0.17), and circulating LA concentration (the main component of omega-6 in food), was also no significant associated with esophageal cancer (p = 0.32). We found no significant relationships of circulating omega-3 and omega-6 PUFAs concentration with four other esophageal diseases. Conclusion: This study indicates that higher levels of circulating omega-3 PUFAs and DHA concentrations may be a risk factor for the development of esophageal cancer. Conversely, an increased omega-6/omega-3 ratio may serve as a protective factor against esophageal cancer. These findings have significant implications for the clinical application of omega-3 PUFAs and the prevention and treatment of esophageal cancer.

Hepatitis B virus infection represents a significant health burden worldwide and can lead to cirrhosis and even liver cancer. The antiviral drugs currently used to treat patients with chronic hepatitis B infection still have many side effects, so it is crucial to identify safe and effective drugs to inhibit viral replication.

BACKGROUND: The efficacy of Vonoprazan-amoxicillin dual therapy (VAT) in the treatment of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is controversial. AIM: To evaluate the efficacy of VAT in the Chinese population. METHODS: This prospective, multicenter, randomized, open-label, and two-stage study was conducted at 23 centers in Fujian, China (May 2021-April 2022). H. pylori-infected patients were randomized to bismuth quadruple therapy (BQT), BQT-Vonoprazan (BQT-V), seven-day VAT (VAT-7), ten-day VAT (VAT-10), and fourteen-day VAT (VAT-14) groups. The primary endpoint was the H. pylori eradication rate. The secondary endpoint was the frequency of adverse events. This study was registered with the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry, ChiCTR2100045778. RESULTS: In the first stage, VAT-7 and BQT-V groups were selected for early termination because less than 23 among 28 cases were eradicated. In the second stage, the eradication rates for BQT, VAT-10, and VA-14 were 80.2% [95% confidence interval (95%CI): 71.4%-86.8%], 93.2% (86.6%-96.7%), 92.2% (85.3%-96.0%) in the intention-to-treat (ITT) analysis, and 80.9% (95%CI: 71.7%-87.5%), 94.0% (87.5%-97.2%), and 93.9% (87.4%-97.2%) in the per-protocol analysis. The ITT analysis showed a higher eradication rate in the VAT-10 and VAT-14 groups than in the BQT group (P = 0.022 and P = 0.046, respectively). The incidence of adverse events in the VAT-10 and VAT-14 groups was lower than in the BQT group (25.27% and 13.73% vs 37.62%, respectively; P < 0.001). CONCLUSION: VAT with a duration of 10 or 14 days achieves a higher eradication rate than the BQT, with a more tolerable safety profile in H. pylori-infected patients in Fujian.

Objectives: The present study reviewed cases of Toxic megacolon (TM) treated in our department, summarized the timing and technique of surgery, and considered key points for surgical management. Methods: This single-center retrospective study included the medical records of patients clinically diagnosed with TM who underwent surgery between 1985 and 2020. The diagnostic criteria and screening scores for sepsis, such as the systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) criteria, quick Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (qSOFA) score, and Modified Early Warning Score (MEWS), were validated. The preoperative clinical features and perioperative findings were also investigated. Results: There were eight male and six female patients. Nine patients (64.3%) satisfied the criteria for toxemia proposed by Narabayashi, and 10 patients (71.4%) fulfilled the SIRS criteria. A positive qSOFA score was confirmed in 1 patient (7.1%). The MEWS was high in 2 patients (14.3%). Intestinal perforation occurred in 2 patients (14.3%), and 1 of them died from disseminated intravascular coagulation. The mortality rate of TM with perforation was 50%. Eleven patients (78.6%) underwent total colectomy with end ileostomy. Conclusions: TM does not have well-defined diagnostic criteria, in addition to developing sometimes as borderline or fulminant cases, and must be recognized at an early stage, taking various findings into consideration. The criteria proposed by Narabayashi and the SIRS criteria, which met in a high percentage of our cases, are recommended as indicators for determining the toxicity of TM. It is also important to consider surgery in the early stages of TM, even if clinical findings do not meet all the criteria.

Background: The experience of patients with brain metastases treated with stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) may shape attitudes towards salvage therapy. Furthermore, physician attitudes towards salvage therapy may differ based on specialty and experience. Our objective is to compare physician attitudes and patient experiences with SRS. Methods: Eligible patients with brain metastases treated with one course of SRS or fractionated stereotactic radiotherapy (FSRT) without whole brain radiotherapy (WBRT) in the definitive or postoperative setting at a single institution were surveyed from 11/2021 to 11/2022 regarding their perspectives on salvage therapy. A separate 11-question multi-disciplinary physician survey was distributed to residents, fellows and attendings at seven additional academic institutions in the US. Chi-square test and Mann-Whitney U test were used to assess differences. Results: A total of 30 patients and 88 physicians were surveyed. Most patients reported being satisfied or very satisfied with initial SRS/FSRT (90%). When given an option between WBRT or SRS for salvage treatment, all patients favored SRS. The physicians consisted of radiation oncologists (69.3%), neurosurgeons (19.3%), medical oncologists (8.0%), and neuro-oncologists (3.4%). Most physicians were confident or very confident in their ability to discuss the risks and benefits of SRS for brain metastases (78.9%), but this was significantly lower if the patient had received prior SRS (56.6%, P<.001). In these cases, there were significant differences in response by medical specialty and confidence level (P<0.05). Conclusions: Patients and physicians view tumor control followed by long-term toxicity as the most important factors for salvage therapy after initial SRS for brain metastases.

Background: This study aims to elucidate the association between glycemia and the occurrence of multi-vessel lesions in participants undergoing coronary angiography. Methods: We analyzed 2,533 patients with coronary artery disease who underwent coronary angiography. Of these, 1,973 patients, identified by the endpoint of multi-vessel lesions, were examined using univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses to determine the relationship between glycemia levels and multi-vessel lesion occurrence. Results: The analysis included 1,973 participants, among whom 474 patients were identified with coronary multi-vessel lesions. Univariate logistic regression analysis demonstrated a positive correlation between glycemia and the occurrence of coronary multi-vessel lesions (OR 1.04; 95% CI 1.01-1.08; p = 0.02). The adjusted model indicated that for each unit increase in glycemia, the risk of developing coronary multi-vessel lesions increased by 4%, showing a significant correlation (p < 0.05). Subgroup analyses revealed that the impact of glycemia on multi-vessel lesions in patients with PCI varied according to gender, age, and smoking status, with the effect being more pronounced in men, older patients, and smokers. Conclusion: Our findings establish a significant association between glycemia and the incidence of multi-vessel lesions, particularly pronounced in male patients, individuals over 45, and smokers.

BACKGROUND: The optimal approach for managing hepatic hemangioma is controversial. AIM: To evaluate a clinical grading system for management of hepatic hemangioma based on our 17-year of single institution experience. METHODS: A clinical grading system was retrospectively applied to 1171 patients with hepatic hemangioma from January 2002 to December 2018. Patients were classified into four groups based on the clinical grading system and treatment: (1) Observation group with score < 4 (Obs score < 4); (2) Surgical group with score < 4 (Sur score < 4); (3) Observation group with score ≥ 4 (Obs score ≥ 4); and (4) Surgical group with score ≥ 4 (Sur score ≥ 4). The clinico-pathological index and outcomes were evaluated. RESULTS: There were significantly fewer symptomatic patients in surgical groups (Sur score ≥ 4 vs Obs score ≥ 4, P < 0.001; Sur score < 4 vs Obs score < 4, χ² = 8.60, P = 0.004; Sur score ≥ 4 vs Obs score < 4, P < 0.001). The patients in Sur score ≥ 4 had a lower rate of in need for intervention and total patients with adverse event than in Obs score ≥ 4 (P < 0.001; P < 0.001). Nevertheless, there was no significant difference in need for intervention and total patients with adverse event between the Sur score < 4 and Obs score < 4 (P > 0.05; χ² = 1.68, P > 0.05). CONCLUSION: This clinical grading system appeared as a practical tool for hepatic hemangioma. Surgery can be suggested for patients with a score ≥ 4. For those with < 4, follow-up should be proposed.
