BACKGROUND: To assess the safety of high-moderate (24.1-28.0°C) and low-moderate (20.1-24.0°C) systemic hypothermia (MHCA) during circulatory arrest in patients with acute DeBakey I aortic dissection (DeBakey I AAD), particularly concerning spinal cord protection. METHODS: Between 2009 and 2020, 1759 patients with DeBakey I AAD who underwent frozen elephant trunk and total arch replacement surgery at a tertiary center were divided into preoperative malperfusion (viscera, spinal cord, or lower extremities) and non-malperfusion subgroups. The baseline differences were balanced using propensity score matching. Prognoses were compared between those who were subjected to high-MHCA (nasopharyngeal temperature, 24.1-28.0°C) and low-MHCA (20.1-24.0°C). RESULTS: In the non-malperfusion subgroup (n=1389), 469 pairs of matched patients showed lower in-hospital mortality and incidence of acute kidney injury in the high-MHCA group than in the low-MHCA group (in-hospital mortality, 7.0% vs. 10.2%, P=0.01; acute kidney injury, 57.1% vs. 64.6%, P<0.01). The duration of mechanical ventilation was shorter in the high-MHCA group than that in the low-MHCA group (P=0.03). No significant difference in the incidence of paraplegia was observed between the two groups. In the malperfusion subgroup (n=370), 112 pairs of matched patients showed a higher incidence of paraplegia in the high-MHCA group than in the low-MHCA group (15.9% vs. 6.5%, P=0.04). CONCLUSIONS: The safety of high-MHCA, a commonly used temperature management strategy during aortic arch surgery, was recognized in most patients with DeBakey I AAD. However, among patients with preoperative distal organ malperfusion, low-MHCA may be more appropriate because of an increased risk of postoperative paraplegia associated with high-MHCA.

In recent decades, hypoxic areas have rapidly expanded worldwide in estuaries and coastal zones. The Pearl River Estuary (PRE), one of China's largest estuaries, experiences frequent seasonal hypoxia due to intense human activities and eutrophication. However, the ecological effects of hypoxia in the PRE, particularly on fish communities, remain unclear. To explore these effects, we collected fish community and environmental data in July 2021 during the summer hypoxia development period. The results revealed that bottom-layer dissolved oxygen (DO) in the PRE ranged from 0.08 to 5.71 mg/L, with extensive hypoxic zones (DO ≤ 2 mg/L) observed. Hypoxia has varied effects on fish community composition, distribution, species, and functional diversity in the PRE. A total of 104 fish species were collected in this study, with approximately 30 species (28.6%) exclusively found in hypoxic areas. Species responses to hypoxia varied: species such as Sardinella zunasi, Coilia mystus, and Nuchequula nuchalis were sensitive, while Decapterus maruadsi, Siganus fuscescens, and Lagocephalus spadiceus showed higher tolerance. Within the hypoxia area, dissolved oxygen was the main limiting factor for fish community diversity. Functional diversity (FDiv) decreased with higher dissolved oxygen levels, indicating a potential shift in the functional traits and ecological roles of fish species in response to changing oxygen conditions. Further analysis demonstrated that dissolved oxygen had a significantly stronger effect on fish community structure at hypoxic sites than in the whole PRE. Moreover, other environmental variables also had significant effects on the fish community structure and interacted with dissolved oxygen in the hypoxia area. These findings suggest that maintaining sufficient dissolved oxygen levels is essential for sustaining fish communities and ecosystem health in the PRE. This study provides novel insights into the effects of hypoxia on fish communities in estuarine ecosystems and has significant implications for the ecological health and management of the PRE.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of small RNA genes with important roles in cancer biology regulation. There are considerable studies regarding the roles of microRNA-505-3p (miR-505-3p) in cancer development and progression, but the function of miR-505-3p in epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) has not been fully clarified. Comparative analysis of miRNA expression data set was used to select differentially expressed miRNAs. Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction was applied to detect expression levels of RNAs, while western blot and immunofluorescence staining were performed to detect expression levels of proteins of interest. The motility of EOC cells was assessed by wound healing and transwell assays. The binding and regulating relationship between miRNA and its direct target gene was investigated by dual-luciferase assay. Our results show that miR-505-3p was upregulated in recurrent EOC, which significantly inhibits EOC cell motility via modulating cell epithelial-mesenchymal transition. Furthermore, our results indicated that PEAK1 expression was inhibited by direct binding of miR-505-3p into its 3'-URT in EOC cells. Importantly, knockdown of PEAK1 attenuated the effect of mi-505-3p inhibitor on EOC cell migration and invasion. In conclusion, our findings indicate that miRNA-505-3p inhibits EOC cell motility by targeting PEAK1.

The length of hypocotyl affects the height of soybean and lodging resistance, thus determining the final grain yield. However, research on soybean hypocotyl length is scarce, and the regulatory mechanisms are not fully understood. Here, we identified a module controlling the transport of sucrose, where sucrose acts as a messenger moved from cotyledon to hypocotyl, regulating hypocotyl elongation. This module comprises four key genes, namely MYB33, SWEET11, SWEET21 and GA2ox8c in soybean. In cotyledon, MYB33 is responsive to sucrose and promotes the expression of SWEET11 and SWEET21, thereby facilitating sucrose transport from the cotyledon to the hypocotyl. Subsequently, sucrose transported from the cotyledon up-regulates the expression of GA2ox8c in the hypocotyl, which ultimately affects the length of the hypocotyl. During the domestication and improvement of soybean, an allele of MYB33 with enhanced abilities to promote SWEET11 and SWEET21 has gradually become enriched in landraces and cultivated varieties, SWEET11 and SWEET21 exhibit high conservation and have undergone a strong purified selection and GA2ox8c is under a strong artificial selection. Our findings identify a new molecular pathway in controlling soybean hypocotyl elongation and provide new insights into the molecular mechanism of sugar transport in soybean.

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary phosphatidylserine (PS) supplementation on the growth performance, stress response, non-specific immunity and antioxidant capacity of juvenile blunt snout bream (Megalobrama ambylcephala) cultured under a high stocking density. A 2 × 2 two-factorial design was adopted, including two stocking densities (10 and 20 fish/m3) and two dietary PS levels (0 and 50 mg/kg). After the 12-week feeding trial, the high stocking density significantly decreased the final weight; weight gain rate; specific growth rate; feed intake; nitrogen retention efficiency; plasma complement 3 (C3) level; albumin/globulin (ALB/GLB, A/G) ratio; activity of myeloperoxidase, lysozyme (LZM) and glutathione peroxidase (GPX); gpx transcription; and abundance of sirtuin3 (Sirt3) and nuclear factor erythroid-2-related factor 2 (Nrf2). However, it significantly increased the plasma levels of cortisol, glucose (GLU), lactic acid (LD), total protein and GLB; hepatic malondialdehyde (MDA) content; and sirt1 transcription. PS supplementation significantly increased the plasma ALB and C4 levels; the A/G ratio; the activity of LZM, CAT and GPX; the transcription of sirt1, nrf2, manganese-containing superoxide dismutase and catalase; and the Nrf2 abundance. However, it significantly decreased the plasma levels of cortisol, GLU and GLB, as well as the hepatic MDA content. In addition, there was a significant interaction between the stocking density and PS supplementation regarding the effects on the plasma LD, ALB, GLB and C3 levels; A/G ratio; hepatic CAT activity; and protein abundance of Sod2. In conclusion, PS supplementation can counteract the high stocking density-induced stress response, redox imbalance and immunosuppression in blunt snout bream.

Background: There is controversy regarding sex differences in short-term mortality in acute type A aortic dissection (ATAAD). Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the impact of sex differences on 30-day operative mortality after ATAAD surgery and to determine if other covariates modify the association. Methods: Consecutive patients (N = 5670) with surgically repaired ATAAD were identified from the multicenter China 5A study. The primary outcome was operative mortality. The age dependency was modeled using a cubic spline curve. Results: There were 1,503 females (26.5%) and 4,167 males (73.5%). Females were older and had a lower percentage of comorbidities compared with males. Females had higher mortality compared to males (10.2% vs 8.2%, P = 0.019); however, there was no difference after propensity analyses (adjusted OR: 1.334 [95% CI: 0.918-1.938]). There was an interaction with sex and age (P interaction = 0.035): older age was associated with higher odds of operative mortality among females (OR: 1.045 [95% CI: 1.029-1.061]) compared with males (OR: 1.025 [95% CI: 1.016-1.035]). The risk of mortality for males and females appears to diverge at 55 years of age (P interaction = 0.019): females under 55 years of age had similar odds to males (OR: 0.852 [95% CI: 0.603-1.205]) but higher odds when over 55 years (OR: 1.420 [95% CI: 1.096-1.839]) compared to males. Conclusions: Under the age of 55 years, females have similar odds of operative mortality compared with males; however, over the age of 55 years females have higher odds than males. The complex global context, including globalization, rapid urbanization, and climate change, poses significant challenges to urban stability and development. Balancing urban land use efficiency and resilience is crucial for sustainable progress. Focusing on the vulnerable Yellow River Basin (YRB), this study examines the interplay between urban resilience and land use efficiency. Panel data from 2013 to 2020 for 54 cities in the YRB were used, it quantifies the Coupling Coordination Degree of Urban Resilience and Urban Land Use Efficiency (CCDUU), explores its spatiotemporal evolution and influencing factors. Key findings include: The CCDUU exhibits a sustained and discernible growth trend. Notably, CCDUU is higher in downstream areas in comparison to the middle reaches, reaching its lowest point in the upstream areas; however, the increase in CCDUU in the upstream areas surpasses that observed in other regions. Concurrently, regional disparities in CCDUU are diminishing. Despite the presence of a notable positive spatial correlation in CCDUU within the YRB, the strength of this spatial association is not sufficiently robust. Of paramount importance factor is the role of regional innovation, which significantly influences the enhancement of CCDUU. Following closely is the degree of openness, whereas the positive effects of government support and population density are concentrated predominantly in the upper YRB region. In contrast, urban-rural disparity exerts an adverse impact on CCDUU in most regions. Policy recommendations for enhancing CCDUU in YRB cities include strengthening government support and planning control, particularly in upstream regions, to achieve efficient resource utilization and environmental protection. Implementing population density management policies, encouraging rational movement, and promoting population migration to upstream areas can alleviate pressure in downstream cities. Enhancing openness, attracting foreign investment, and promoting innovation and industrial upgrading will drive economic structural upgrades and improve CCDUU.

BACKGROUND: Patients with primary multifocal hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) have a poor prognosis and often experience a high rate of treatment failure. Multifocal HCC is mainly caused by intrahepatic metastasis (IM), and though portal vein tumor thrombosis (PVTT) is considered a hallmark of IM, the molecular mechanism by which primary HCC cells invade the portal veins remains unclear. Therefore, it is necessary to recognize the early signs of metastasis of HCC to arrange better treatment for patients. RESULTS: To determine the differential molecular features between primary HCC with and without phenotype of metastasis, we used the CIBERSORTx software to deconvolute cell types from bulk RNA-Seq based on a single-cell transcriptomic dataset. According to the relative abundance of tumorigenic and metastatic hepatoma cells, VEGFA+ macrophages, effector memory T cells, and natural killer cells, HCC samples were divided into five groups: Pro-T, Mix, Pro-Meta, NKC, and MemT, and the transcriptomic and genomic features of the first three groups were analyzed. We found that the Pro-T group appeared to retain native hepatic metabolic activity, whereas the Pro-Meta group underwent dedifferentiation. Genes highly expressed in the group Pro-Meta often signify a worse outcome. CONCLUSIONS: The HCC cohort can be well-typed and prognosis predicted according to tumor microenvironment components. Primary hepatocellular carcinoma may have obtained corresponding molecular features before metastasis occurred.

In this study, oversized microplastics (OMPs) were intentionally introduced into soil containing manure-borne doxycycline (DOX). This strategic approach was used to systematically examine the effects of combined OMP and DOX pollution on the growth of pak choi, analyze alterations in soil environmental metabolites, and explore the potential migration of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs). The results revealed a more pronounced impact of DOX than of OMPs. Slender-fiber OMPs (SF OMPs) had a more substantial influence on the growth of pak choi than did coarse-fiber OMPs (CF OMPs). Conversely, CF OMPs had a more significant effect on the migration of ARGs within the system. When DOX was combined with OMPs, the negative effects of DOX on pak choi growth were mitigated through the synthesis of indole through the adjustment of carbon metabolism and amino acid metabolism in pak choi roots. In this process, Pseudohongiellaceae and Xanthomonadaceae were key bacteria. During the migration of ARGs, the potential host bacterium Limnobacter should be considered. Additionally, the majority of potential host bacteria in the pak choi endophytic environment were associated with tetG. This study provides insights into the intricate interplay among DOX, OMPs, ARGs, plant growth, soil metabolism, and the microbiome.

The broad applications of ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) demand good sensitivity and resolving power for ion species with different reduced mobilities (K0). In this work, a new Tyndall-Powell gate (TPG) gating method for combining ion enrichment, mobility discrimination reduction, and temporal compression into a single gating process is proposed to improve IMS analysis performance. The two-parallel-grid structure and well-confined gate region of the TPG make it convenient to spatiotemporally vary the electric fields within and around the gate region. Under the new gating method, a potential wave is applied on TPG grid 1 to enrich ions within the ionization region adjacent to the TPG during the gate-closed state; meanwhile, a potential wave is applied on TPG grid 2 to enhance mobility discrimination reduction and temporal compression simultaneously during the gate-open state. For triethyl phosphate (TEP) and dimethyl methylphosphonate mixtures, product ion peaks within K0 of 1.9 to 1.1 cm2/V·s exhibit a 19-fold increase in ion current compared to the traditional TPG gating method, while maintaining a resolving power of 85. The estimated limit of detection for the TEP dimer is lowered from 8 ppb to 135 ppt. The new gating method can be applied to other TPG-based IMS systems to enhance their performance in analyzing complex samples.

As one of the emerging hallmarks of tumorigenesis and tumor progression, metabolic remodeling is common in the tumor microenvironment. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the third leading cause of global tumor-related mortality, causing a series of metabolic alterations in response to nutrient availability and consumption to fulfill the demands of biosynthesis and carcinogenesis. Despite the efficacy of immunotherapy in treating HCC, the response rate remains unsatisfactory. Recently, research has focused on metabolic reprogramming and its effects on the immune state of the tumor microenvironment, and immune response rate. In this review, we delineate the metabolic reprogramming observed in HCC and its influence on the tumor immune microenvironment. We discuss strategies aimed at enhancing response rates and overcoming immune resistance through metabolic interventions, focusing on targeting glucose, lipid, or amino acid metabolism, as well as systemic regulation.

Background: Type II hybrid arch repair (HAR) has been used for the repair of extensive aortic arch pathology. The aim of this study was to retrospectively analyze single-stage hybrid treatment involving replacement of the ascending aorta, arch debranching, and zone 0 stent graft deployment. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed clinical data from 41 patients with acute and chronic aortic disease who underwent a type II hybrid arch procedure at Beijing Anzhen Hospital and Beijing Chaoyang Hospital from January 2020 to August 2022. The femoral arteries and right axillary arteries were used as cannulation sites to decrease the risk of malperfusion. During surgery, the nasopharyngeal temperature was lowered to 30 ℃. Demographic, perioperative, and late results data were retrieved and analyzed. Results: The mean age of the patients was 54.9±11.1 years, and 31 patients (75.6%) were men. In all cases, zone 0 stent graft deployment was successful, with no in-hospital mortality. The median follow-up time was 10.5 [interquartile range (IQR), 4.8-17.6] months, and the survival rate was 94.9% during follow-up. Complications included cerebral infarction (3 patients, 7.3%) and renal failure requiring dialysis (3 patients, 7.3%). There were no occurrences of paraplegia, and no stent-related complications occurred during the follow-up period. Conclusions: The single-stage hybrid arch procedure achieved satisfactory early results and represents a less invasive approach for treating complex diffuse aortic disease that affects the arch. This strategy is an important technical advance in the treatment of high-risk patients with extensive aortic arch pathology.

In order to improve the utilization value of the erythritol mother liquor, the separation and purification of the erythritol mother liquor was selected in this study. The selected chromatographic separation programme for erythritol crystallizing mother liquor is as follows: Firstly, erythritol is resolved from mannitol and arabitol with DTF-01Ca (Suqing Group) resin and then mannitol is resolved from arabitol with 99Ca/320 (Dowex) resin. At the same time, the chromatographic conditions of the DTF-01Ca (Suqing Group) and 99Ca/320 (Dowex) resins were optimized, resulting in an optimal separation temperature and mobile phase flow rate of 70 °C, 10 ml/min. On this basis, a single-column chromatographic model was used to calculate the TD model parameter (N) and the mass transfer coefficient (km ) of the separation of erythritol mother liquor by DTF-01Ca (Suqing Group) and 99Ca/320 (Dowex) resins. The adsorption isotherms, TD model parameter (N) and the mass transfer coefficient (km ) provides data references for the design and operation of the simulated moving beds (SMB) separation system for the industrial-scale separation of erythritol crystallizing mother liquor.

PURPOSE: The value of preoperative multidisciplinary approach remains inadequately delineated in forecasting postoperative outcomes of patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Herein, we aimed to ascertain the efficacy of multi-modality cardiac imaging in predicting post-CABG cardiovascular outcomes. METHODS: Patients with triple coronary artery disease underwent cardiac sodium [18F]fluoride ([18F]NaF) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT), coronary angiography, and CT-based coronary artery calcium scoring before CABG. The maximum coronary [18F]NaF activity (target-to-blood ratio [TBR]max) and the global coronary [18F]NaF activity (TBRglobal) was determined. The primary endpoint was perioperative myocardial infarction (PMI) within 7-day post-CABG. Secondary endpoint included major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events (MACCEs) and recurrent angina. RESULTS: This prospective observational study examined 101 patients for a median of 40 months (interquartile range: 19-47 months). Both TBRmax (odds ratio [OR] = 1.445; p = 0.011) and TBRglobal (OR = 1.797; P = 0.018) were significant predictors of PMI. TBRmax>3.0 (area under the curve [AUC], 0.65; sensitivity, 75.0%; specificity, 56.8%; p = 0.036) increased PMI risk by 3.661-fold, independent of external confounders. Kaplan-Meier test revealed a decrease in MACCE survival rate concomitant with an escalating TBRmax. TBRmax>3.6 (AUC, 0.70; sensitivity, 76.9%; specificity, 73.9%; p = 0.017) increased MACCEs risk by 5.520-fold. Both TBRmax (hazard ratio [HR], 1.298; p = 0.004) and TBRglobal (HR = 1.335; p = 0.011) were significantly correlated with recurrent angina. No significant associations were found between CAC and SYNTAX scores and between PMI occurrence and long-term MACCEs. CONCLUSION: Quantification of coronary microcalcification activity via [18F]NaF PET displayed a strong ability to predict early and long-term post-CABG cardiovascular outcomes, thereby outperforming conventional metrics of coronary macrocalcification burden and stenosis severity. BACKGROUND: Rising cancer-related mortality underscores the importance of biomarkers for treatment and prognosis, with Chromosome Segregation 1 Like (CSE1L) linked to various cancers yet its roles remain partially understood. This study investigates CSE1L's expression and oncogenic mechanisms in solid tumors. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS: We analyzed multi-omics data from 31 solid tumors, measured CSE1L in 41 head and neck carcinoma patients post-chemotherapy via qRT-PCR, and evaluated the impact of CSE1L knockdown on cell proliferation in A549 and HepG2 cells. RESULTS: In this study, we observed significantly elevated levels of CSE1L RNA in 13 tumor tissues and protein levels in 8 tumor tissues compared to their corresponding adjacent normal tissues. Additionally, our investigation unveiled a correlation between heightened CSE1L expression in tumor tissues and worsened patient prognosis, poor response to immunotherapy, and diminished effectiveness of neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Through an analysis of CSE1L mechanisms, we discovered its potential involvement in promoting tumor cell proliferation, enhancing drug resistance, and influencing immune infiltration, thereby impacting patient prognosis and treatment outcomes. Finally, we delved into the potential mechanisms underlying upregulation of CSE1L in tumor tissues. CONCLUSION: Our findings demonstrate that CSE1L promotes tumor development in various malignancies, highlighting its potential as both a therapeutic target and prognostic indicator.

Film bulk acoustic-wave resonators (FBARs) are widely utilized in the field of radio frequency (RF) filters due to their excellent performance, such as high operation frequency and high quality. In this paper, we present the design, fabrication, and characterization of an FBAR filter for the 3.0 GHz-3.2 GHz S-band. Using a scandium-doped aluminum nitride (Sc0.2Al0.8N) film, the filter is designed through a combined acoustic-electromagnetic simulation method, and the FBAR and filter are fabricated using an eight-step lithographic process. The measured FBAR presents an effective electromechanical coupling coefficient (keff2) value up to 13.3%, and the measured filter demonstrates a -3 dB bandwidth of 115 MHz (from 3.013 GHz to 3.128 GHz), a low insertion loss of -2.4 dB, and good out-of-band rejection of -30 dB. The measured 1 dB compression point of the fabricated filter is 30.5 dBm, and the first series resonator burns out first as the input power increases. This work paves the way for research on high-power RF filters in mobile communication.

Sakuranin is a flavanone which is a class of flavonoids found abundantly in Prunus species. Flavonoids have been long known for their anticancer properties against a range of human cancers. However, there are no previous reports on the anticancer effects of sakuranin flavanone molecule. This study was designed to study the anticancer effects of sakuranin against human oropharyngeal carcinoma cells along with investigating its effects on caspase-mediated apoptosis, mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) loss, cell migration and invasion and m-TOR/PI3K/AKT signalling pathway. MTT assay was used to study effects on cell viability. The apoptotic studies were carried out through AO/EB staining, annexin V/FITC staining, comet assay and western blotting assay. Transwell chambers assay was used to study effects on cell migration and invasion. Flow cytometry was used to study effects of Sakuranin on mitochondrial membrane potential loss (MMP). Finally, western blotting was used to investigate m-TOR/PI3K/AKT signalling pathway. Results indicated that Sakuranin led to potent cell proliferation inhibition in a dose-dependent manner. Sakuranin also induced apoptotic cell death as indicated by fluorescence microscopy and annexin V/FITC staining assays. The apoptotic induction was mediated via activation of caspase-3, caspase-9, and Bax while as it led to downregulation of Bcl-2. Sakuranin also caused inhibition of cell migration and cell invasion along with causing significant decrease in MMP. Sakuranin also caused inhibition of expressions of proteins related with m-TOR/PI3K/AKT signalling pathway. In conclusion, the current findings clearly indicate anticancer effects of Sakuranin flavanone in human oropharyngeal cancer cells and are mediated via caspase activated apoptosis, inhibition of cell migration and invasion, loss of mitochondrial membrane potential and targeting m-TOR/PI3K/AKT signalling pathway.

Depression is a significant factor contributing to postoperative occurrences, and patients diagnosed with depression have a higher risk for postoperative complications. Studies on cardiovascular surgery extensively addresses this concern. Several studies report that people who undergo coronary artery bypass graft surgery have a 20% chance of developing postoperative depression. A retrospective analysis of medical records spanning 21 years, involving 817 patients, revealed that approximately 40% of individuals undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) were at risk of perioperative depression. Patients endure prolonged suffering from illness because each attempt with standard antidepressants requires several weeks to be effective. In addition, multi-drug combination adjuvants or combination medication therapy may alleviate symptoms for some individuals, but they also increase the risk of side effects. Conventional antidepressants primarily modulate the monoamine system, whereas different therapies target the serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine systems. Esketamine is a fast-acting antidepressant with high efficacy. Esketamine is the S-enantiomer of ketamine, a derivative of phencyclidine developed in 1956. Esketamine exerts its effect by targeting the glutaminergic system the glutaminergic system. In this paper, we discuss the current depression treatment strategies with a focus on the pharmacology and mechanism of action of esketamine. In addition, studies reporting use of esketamine to treat perioperative depressive symptoms are reviwed, and the potential future applications of the drug are presented.

The dual emission (DE) characteristics of atomically precise copper nanoclusters (Cu NCs) are of significant theoretical and practical interest. Despite this, the underlying mechanism driving DE in Cu NCs remains elusive, primarily due to the complexities of excited state processes. Herein, a novel [Cu4(PPh3)4(C≡C-p-NH2C6H4)3]PF6 (Cu4) NC, shielded by alkynyl and exhibiting DE, was synthesized. Hydrostatic pressure was applied to Cu4, for the first time, to investigate the mechanism of DE. With increasing pressure, the higher-energy emission peak of Cu4 gradually disappeared, leaving the lower-energy emission peak as the dominant emission. Additionally, the Cu4 crystal exhibited notable piezochromism transitioning from cyan to orange. Angle-dispersive synchrotron X-ray diffraction results revealed that the reduced inter-cluster distances under pressure brought the peripheral ligands closer, leading to the formation of new C-H⋅⋅⋅N and N-H⋅⋅⋅N hydrogen bonds in Cu4. It is proposed that these strengthened hydrogen bond interactions limit the ligands' vibration, resulting in the vanishing of the higher-energy peak. In situ high-pressure Raman and vibrationally resolved emission spectra demonstrated that the benzene ring C=C stretching vibration is the structural source of the DE in Cu4.

Fusarium crown rot (FCR) in wheat is a prevalent soil-borne disease worldwide and poses a significant threat to the production of wheat (Triticum aestivum) in China, with F. pseudograminearum being the dominant pathogen. Currently, there is a shortage of biocontrol resources to control FCR induced by F. pseudograminearum, along with biocontrol mechanisms. In this study, we have identified 37 strains of biocontrol bacteria displaying antagonistic effects against F. pseudograminearum from over 8000 single colonies isolated from soil samples with a high incidence of FCR. Among them, QY43 exhibited remarkable efficacy in controlling FCR. Further analysis identified the isolate QY43 as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, based on its colony morphology and molecular biology. In vitro, QY43 significantly inhibited the growth, conidial germination, and the pathogenicity of F. pseudograminearum. In addition, QY43 exhibited a broad spectrum of antagonistic activities against several plant pathogens. The genomics analysis revealed that there are genes encoding potential biocontrol factors in the genome of QY43. The experimental results confirmed that QY43 secretes biocontrol factor siderophores and pyocyanin. In summary, QY43 exhibits a broad spectrum of antagonistic activities and the capacity to produce diverse biocontrol factors, thereby showing substantial potential for biocontrol applications to plant disease.
