RÉSUMÉ

We demonstrate an all-fiber GHz mode-locked laser system with few-cycle duration operating at 2 µm. Based on a dispersion-managed mode-locked oscillator, a multi-stage fiber amplifier, and a nonlinear pulse compressor, the laser system can deliver watt-level few-cycle pulses at a fundamental repetition rate of 1.041 GHz. This 2-µm pulsed laser offers outstanding performance metrics, including a pulse duration of 33 fs (corresponding to ∼5 optical cycles) and an average power of 4.17 W. Moreover, the all-fiber laser system exhibits excellent power stability, and the integrated relative intensity noise (RIN) is only 0.052% (10 Hz-1 MHz). It is anticipated that this new, to the best of our knowledge, laser source is promising for frontier applications, including coherent supercontinuum generation, nonlinear frequency conversion, and laser-material interaction.

OBJECTIVE: To understand the current status of occupational stress, occupational burn-out and sleep quality among ambulance drivers in Hengyang, China and to analyse the relationship between occupational stress, occupational burn-out and sleep quality of ambulance drivers. DESIGN: A cross-sectional study. SETTING: Prehospital emergency centre of third-class hospital in Hengyang, China. PARTICIPANTS: From October 2023 to December 2023, a cross-sectional survey was conducted, with 213 ambulance drivers from Hengyang, China, selected as participants. METHODS: General demographic questionnaires, the Chinese Occupational Stress Inventory, the Maslach Burnout Inventory and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index were used for data collection and analysis. RESULTS: Occupational stress among ambulance drivers was positively correlated with occupational burn-out and sleep quality (r=0.528, 0.447, both p<0.01) while occupational burn-out was positively correlated with sleep quality (r=0.394, p<0.01). Occupational burn-out partially mediated the relationship between occupational stress and sleep quality among ambulance drivers, with a mediation effect value of 0.168, accounting for 26.09% of the total effect. CONCLUSION: The sleep quality of ambulance drivers in Hengyang, China is suboptimal, with occupational stress directly predicting sleep quality. Occupational burn-out plays a partial positive mediating role between occupational stress and sleep quality among ambulance drivers. Reducing occupational stress and burn-out is beneficial for improving the sleep quality of ambulance drivers.

Tuberculosis (TB), caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, is one of the leading causes of death due to an infectious agent. Coinfection with HIV exacerbates M. tuberculosis infection outcomes in people living with HIV. Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG), the only approved TB vaccine, is effective in infants, but its efficacy in adolescents and adults is limited. In this study, we investigated the immune responses elicited by BCG administered via i.v. or intradermal (i.d.) routes in SIV-infected Mauritian cynomolgus macaques (MCM) without the confounding effects of M. tuberculosis challenge. We assessed the impact of vaccination on T cell responses in the airway, blood, and tissues (lung, thoracic lymph nodes, and spleen), as well as the expression of cytokines, cytotoxic effectors, and key transcription factors. Our results showed that i.v. BCG induces a robust and sustained immune response, including tissue-resident memory T cells in lungs, polyfunctional CD4+ and CD8αß+ T cells expressing multiple cytokines, and CD8αß+ T cells and NK cells expressing cytotoxic effectors in airways. We also detected higher levels of mycobacteria-specific IgG and IgM in the airways of i.v. BCG-vaccinated MCM. Although i.v. BCG vaccination resulted in an influx of tissue-resident memory T cells in lungs of MCM with controlled SIV replication, MCM with high plasma SIV RNA (>105 copies/ml) typically displayed reduced T cell responses, suggesting that uncontrolled SIV or HIV replication would have a detrimental effect on i.v. BCG-induced protection against M. tuberculosis.

Ultrafast lasers have become powerful tools in various fields, and increasing their fundamental repetition rates to the gigahertz (GHz) level holds great potential for frontier scientific and industrial applications. Among various schemes, passive mode-locking in ultrashort-cavity fiber laser is promising for generating GHz ultrashort pulses (typically solitons), for its simplicity and robustness. However, its pulse energy is far lower than the critical value of the existing theory, leading to open questions on the mode-locking mechanism of GHz fiber lasers. Here, we study the passive mode-locking in GHz fiber lasers by exploring dynamic gain depletion and recovery (GDR) effect, and establish a theoretical model for comprehensively understanding its low-threshold mode-locking mechanism with multi-GHz fundamental repetition rates. Specifically, the GDR effect yields an effective interaction force and thereby binds multi-GHz solitons to form a counterpart of soliton crystals. It is found that the resulting collective behavior of the solitons effectively reduces the saturation energy of the gain fiber and permits orders of magnitude lower pulse energy for continuous-wave mode-locking (CWML). A new concept of quasi-single soliton defined in a strongly correlated length is also proposed to gain insight into the dynamics of soliton assembling, which enables the crossover from the present mode-locking theory to the existing one. Specifically, two distinguishing dynamics of Q-switched mode-locking that respectively exhibit rectangular- and Gaussian-shape envelopes are theoretically indicated and experimentally verified in the mode-locked GHz fiber laser through the measurements using both the standard real-time oscilloscope and emerging time-lens magnification. Based on the proposed criterion of CWML, we finally implement a GDR-mediated mode-locked fiber laser with an unprecedentedly high fundamental repetition rate of up to 21 GHz and a signal-to-noise ratio of 85.9 dB.

Breast cancer (BC) is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women globally. Natural killer (NK) cells play a vital role in tumour immunosurveillance. This study aimed to establish a prognostic model using NK cell-related genes (NKRGs) by integrating single-cell transcriptomic data with machine learning. We identified 44 significantly expressed NKRGs involved in cytokine and T cell-related functions. Using 101 machine learning algorithms, the Lasso + RSF model showed the highest predictive accuracy with nine key NKRGs. We explored cell-to-cell communication using CellChat, assessed immune-related pathways and tumour microenvironment with gene set variation analysis and ssGSEA, and observed immune components by HE staining. Additionally, drug activity predictions identified potential therapies, and gene expression validation through immunohistochemistry and RNA-seq confirmed the clinical applicability of NKRGs. The nomogram showed high concordance between predicted and actual survival, linking higher tumour purity and risk scores to a reduced immune score. This NKRG-based model offers a novel approach for risk assessment and personalized treatment in BC, enhancing the potential of precision medicine.

PURPOSE: Emergency resuscitative thoracotomy (ERT) is a final salvage procedure for critically injured trauma patients. Given its low success rate and ambiguous indications, its use in blunt trauma scenarios remains highly debated. Consequently, our study seeks to ascertain the overall survival rate of ERT in blunt trauma patients and determine which patients would benefit most from this procedure. METHODS: A retrospective case-control study was conducted for this research. Blunt trauma patients who underwent ERT between January 2020 and December 2023 in our trauma center were selected for analysis, with the endpoint outcome being in-hospital survival, divided into survival and non-survival groups. Inter-group comparisons were conducted using Chi-square and Fisher's exact tests, the Kruskal-Wallis test, Student's t-test, or the Mann-Whitney U test. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were conducted to assess potential predictors of survival. Then, the efficacy of the predictors was assessed through sensitivity and specificity analysis. RESULTS: A total of 33 patients were included in the study, with 4 survivors (12.12%). Multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated a significant association between cardiac tamponade and survival, with an adjusted odds ratio of 33.4 (95% CI: 1.31 - 850, p = 0.034). Additionally, an analysis of sensitivity and specificity, targeting cardiac tamponade as an indicator for survivor identification, showed a sensitivity rate of 75.0% and a specificity rate of 96.6%. CONCLUSION: The survival rate among blunt trauma patients undergoing ERT exceeds traditional expectations, suggesting that select individuals with blunt trauma can significantly benefit from the procedure. Notably, those presenting with cardiac tamponade are identified as the subgroup most likely to derive substantial benefits from ERT.

BACKGROUND: Bizarre parosteal osteochondromatous proliferation (BPOP) is a rare benign bone tumor, it is also called "Nora's lesion". The lesion is characterized by heterotopic ossification of the normal bone cortex or parosteal bone. The etiology of BPOP is unclear and may be related to trauma. In most BPOPs, the lesion is not connected to the medullary cavity. Here we report an atypical case, characterized by reversed features compared to the typical BPOP, which demonstrated continuity of the lesion with the cavity. CASE PRESENTATION: An 11-year-old female child had a slow-growing mass on her right wrist for 8 months with forearm rotation dysfunction. Plain X-rays showed an irregular calcified mass on the right distal ulna, and computed tomography (CT) showed a pedunculated mass resembling a mushroom protruding into the soft tissue at the distal ulna. The medulla of this lesion is continuous with the medulla of the ulna. A surgical resection of the lesion, together with a portion of the ulnar bone cortex below the tumor was performed, and the final pathology confirmed BPOP. After the surgery, the child's forearm rotation function improved significantly, and there was no sign of a recurrence at 1-year follow-up. CONCLUSION: It is scarce for BPOP lesions to communicate with the medullary cavity. However, under-recognition of these rare cases may result in misdiagnosis or inappropriate treatment thereby increasing the risk of recurrence. Therefore, special cases where BPOP lesions are continuous with the medulla are even more important to be studied to understand better and master these lesions. Although BPOP is a benign tumor with no evidence of malignant transformation, the recurrence rate of surgical resection is high. We considered the possibility of this particular disease prior to surgery and performed a surgical resection with adequate safety margins. Regular postoperative follow-up is of utmost importance, without a doubt.

Environmental viruses (primarily bacteriophages) are widely recognized as playing an important role in ecosystem homeostasis through the infection of host cells. However, the majority of environmental viruses are still unknown as their mosaic structure and frequent mutations in their sequences hinder genome construction in current metagenomics. To enable the large-scale acquisition of environmental viral genomes, we developed a new single-viral genome sequencing platform with microfluidic-generated gel beads. Amplification of individual DNA viral genomes in mass-produced gel beads allows high-throughput genome sequencing compared to conventional single-virus genomics. The sequencing analysis of river water samples yielded 1431 diverse viral single-amplified genomes, whereas viral metagenomics recovered 100 viral metagenome-assembled genomes at the comparable sequence depth. The 99.5% of viral single-amplified genomes were determined novel at the species level, most of which could not be recovered by a metagenomic assembly. The large-scale acquisition of diverse viral genomes identified protein clusters commonly detected in different viral strains, allowing the gene transfer to be tracked. Moreover, comparative genomics within the same viral species revealed that the profiles of various methyltransferase subtypes were diverse, suggesting an enhanced escape from host bacterial internal defense mechanisms. Our use of gel bead-based single-virus genomics will contribute to exploring the nature of viruses by accelerating the accumulation of draft genomes of environmental DNA viruses.

Cervical cancer (CC) is the fourth most common cancer among women worldwide. NLR Family CARD Domain Containing 5 (NLRC5) plays an important role in tumorigenesis. However, its effect and mechanism in CC remains unclear. In this study, we aimed to investigate the function of NLRC5 in CC. NLRC5 was found to be down-regulated in CC tissues compared with normal cervical tissues. However, patients with higher NLRC5 expression had better prognosis, patients with higher age, HPV infection, lymph node metastasis, recurrence and histological grade had worse prognosis. Univariate and multivariate analyses showed NLRC5 to be a potential prognostic indicator for CC. Pearson correlation analysis showed that NLRC5 might exert its function in CC through autophagy related proteins, especially LC3. In vitro experiments demonstrated that NLRC5 inhibited LC3 levels and promoted the proliferation, migration, and invasion of CC cells by activating the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway. Treatment with LY294002 reversed the above phenotype. Taken together, our finding suggested that NLRC5 would participate in cervical tumorigenesis and progression by regulating PI3K/AKT signaling pathway. In addition, NLRC5 and LC3 combined as possible predictors in CC.

OBJECTIVES: To observe the CISD2 expression among PCOS patients and to explore its profound impact on the follicular microenvironment. Moreover, we want to elucidate the intricate mechanistic contribution of CISD2 to the onset and progression of PCOS. METHODS: Oxidase NOX2, mitophagy-related proteins, and CISD2 were detected by WB. The changes in mitochondrial structure and quantity were observed by transmission electron microscopy. Mitochondrial and lysosome colocalization was used to detect the changes of mitophagy. MDA kit, GSH and GSSG Assay kit and ROS probe were used to detect oxidative stress damage. RESULTS: We found that CISD2, mitophagy and oxidase in the GCs of PCOS patients were significantly increased. Testosterone stimulation leads to the increase of oxidase, mitophagy, and CISD2 in KGN cells. CISD2 inhibition promoted the increase of mitophagy, and the activation of mitochondria-lysosome binding, while alleviating the oxidative stress. CONCLUSIONS: Inhibition of CISD2 can improve the occurrence of oxidative stress by increasing the level of mitophagy, thus affecting the occurrence and development of PCOS diseases.

Background: Exposure to trauma is often associated with an increased incidence of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), yet the mechanisms underlying MDD development post-trauma remain elusive. The microbiota-gut-brain axis has been implicated in neuropsychiatric disorders, suggesting its potential role in post-traumatic MDD (PTMDD) development. Our study aimed to assess the significance of the gut microbiome-brain interaction in PTMDD. Methods: We conducted a bidirectional two-sample Mendelian Randomization (MR) analysis to investigate the causal relationship between the gut microbiota and both PTMDD and trauma exposure in MDD. Genome-wide association study (GWAS) summary datasets for PTMDD and trauma exposure in MDD, both derived from the UK Biobank. The PTMDD dataset included 24,090 individuals (13,393 cases and 10,701 controls), while the dataset for trauma exposure in MDD comprised 22,880 participants (13,393 cases and 9,487 controls). Additionally, gut microbiota data from the MiBioGen consortium included 14,306 European individuals across 18 diverse cohorts. Results: Our research identified a significant negative association between the phylum Verrucomicrobia (odds ratio (OR) [95% confidence interval (CI)] =0.799 [0.684-0.933], P=0.005) and the risk of developing PTMDD, suggesting a protective role for Verrucomicrobia against PTMDD. Conversely, our findings indicate no causal effects of the gut microbiota on trauma exposure in MDD. However, reverse analysis revealed that both PTMDD and MDD influence certain bacterial traits, affecting 5 and 9 bacterial traits, respectively. Moreover, Verrucomicrobia (OR [95% CI] = 1.166 [1.051 - 1.294], P=0.004) was found to be positively impacted by trauma exposure in MDD. Conclusion: Our findings provide a cause-and-effect relationship between the gut microbiota and PTMDD, contributing to our understanding of the microbiota-gut-brain axis and its role in neuropsychiatric disorder development after trauma. This information provides an opportunity for new treatment and prevention methods which are aimed at the gut-brain interaction.

Glioblastoma (GBM), a universally fatal brain cancer, infiltrates the brain and can be synaptically innervated by neurons, which drives tumor progression 1-6 . Synaptic inputs onto GBM cells identified so far are largely short-range and glutamatergic 7-9 . The extent of integration of GBM cells into brain-wide neuronal circuitry is not well understood. Here we applied a rabies virus-mediated retrograde monosynaptic tracing approach 10-12 to systematically investigate circuit integration of human GBM organoids transplanted into adult mice. We found that GBM cells from multiple patients rapidly integrated into brain-wide neuronal circuits and exhibited diverse local and long-range connectivity. Beyond glutamatergic inputs, we identified a variety of neuromodulatory inputs across the brain, including cholinergic inputs from the basal forebrain. Acute acetylcholine stimulation induced sustained calcium oscillations and long-lasting transcriptional reprogramming of GBM cells into a more invasive state via the metabotropic CHRM3 receptor. CHRM3 downregulation suppressed GBM cell invasion, proliferation, and survival in vitro and in vivo. Together, these results reveal the capacity of human GBM cells to rapidly and robustly integrate into anatomically and molecularly diverse neuronal circuitry in the adult brain and support a model wherein rapid synapse formation onto GBM cells and transient activation of upstream neurons may lead to a long-lasting increase in fitness to promote tumor infiltration and progression.

Color is one of the vital components of product design and the choice of color combination is a critical factor that affects consumer reaction and purchase decisions. However, the impact of traditional colors on color extraction and product design has seldom been studied. The purpose of this study is to discover suitable colors from traditional patterns to create color schemes that will be used in the design of children's products. Colors were extracted from five major traditional ornaments obtained from Turkmenistan's national carpets, each representing one of the main Turkmen tribes, using tools like Photoshop, Adobe Color, and EasyRGB, with the objective of investigating psychological-emotional attachment, reaction, and attitudes towards the colors obtained. This initial extraction provided 124 color data points. Initially, extracted colors were refined and used to develop novel color schemes by two independent survey studies. The first survey, based on a sample of 104 parents of preschool children, identified colors that have a positive emotional effect on consumer preferences and provided the basis to develop color schemes. As a result, 25 colors were identified for use in developing 14 color schemes. The second survey, based on a sample of 48 parents of preschool children, identified which color schemes have an attraction for consumers. The survey indicated that 11 out of these 14 schemes were highly favored by the respondents. Based on these results, this study proposed new color schemes for children's products, extracted from traditional patterns of Turkmenistan and aligned with the psychological perception of the consumers.

OBJECTIVE: To explore the clinical efficacy of high hip center technique total hip arthroplasty (THA) for Crowe Ⅱand Ⅲ developmental dysplasia of hip (DDH) and severe hip osteoarthritis (HOA). METHODS: From January 2018 to January 2020, 74 patients with Crowe typeⅡand Ⅲ DDH and severe HOA were admitted, and 37 cases of anatomical hip center reconstruction were taken as control group, including 7 males and 30 females, aged from 42 to 65 years old with an average of (58.40±4.98) years old, body mass index (BMI) ranged from 18 to 29 kg·m-2 with an average of (23.02±2.21) kg·m-2. Thirty-seven routine high hip center technical reconstruction were performed as study group, including 5 males and 32 females, aged from 41 to 65 years old with an average of (57.31±5.42) years old, BMI ranged from 18 to 29 kg·m-2 with an average of (23.14±2.07) kg·m-2. The patients presented with hip pain, limited function and range of motion, and gait instability before surgery. All patients underwent THA, the control group underwent intraoperative anatomical hip center reconstruction, and the study group underwent intraoperative high hip joint reconstruction. The perioperative indicators of the two groups were compared. The hip joint function, balance function and gait of the patients were evaluated before surgery, 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months after surgery. The length difference of both lower limbs, horizontal distance of rotation center, vertical distance of rotation center and femoral eccentricity were measured before operation and 1 year after operation. The incidence of complications in the two groups during the operation and postoperative follow-up was counted. RESULTS: The operation time of the study group was shorter than that of the control group, and the intraoperative blood loss was less than that of the control group (P<0.05). After 12-months follow-up, 1 was lost to followvup in study group and 2 were lost to follow-up in control group. The Harris scores and Berg balance scale(BBS), pace, stride frequency and single step length in the study group were higher than those in the control group at 3 months and 6 months after operation (P<0.05);there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in the indexes 12 months after operation (P>0.05). The vertical distance of the center of rotation of the study group was greater than that of the control group 12 months after operation (P<0.05), and there was no significant difference in the length difference of the lower limbs, the horizontal distance of the center of rotation, and the femoral eccentricity between two groups (P>0.05). There were no complications in either group. CONCLUSION: The long-term effects of THA in patients with DDH and severe HOA were similar between the two central hip reconstruction methods, and the safety was good, and the high hip central reconstruction technique could shorten the operation time and reduce the amount of intraoperative blood loss.At the same time, it has certain advantages in early recovery of hip joint function, balance function and walking function of patients.

BACKGROUND: Segmental bone defects of the mandible result in the complete loss of the affected region. We had incorporated the pressure-reducing device (PRD) designs into the customized mandible prostheses (CMP) and conducted a clinical trial to evaluate this approach. METHODS: Seven patients were enrolled in this study. We examined the association among the history of radiotherapy, the number of CMP regions, the number of chin regions involved, and CMP exposure. RESULTS: We included five men and two women with an average age of 55 years. We excised tumors with an average weight of 147.8 g and the average weight of the CMP was 68.5 g. No significant difference between the two weights was noted (p = 0.3882). Three patients received temporary dentures and the CMP remained stable in all patients. CONCLUSION: The use of PRD in CMP may address the previous challenges associated with CMP, but further research is necessary.

Background/purpose: Segmental body defects of the mandible result in the complete loss of the affected region. In our previous study, we investigated the clinical applicability of a customized mandible prosthesis (CMP) with a pressure-reducing device (PRD) in an animal study. In this study, we further incorporated dental implants into the CMP and explored the use of dental implant PRD (iPRD) designs. Materials and methods: By employing a finite element analysis approach, we created 4 types of CMP: CMP, CMP with iPRD, CMP-PRD, and CMP-PRD with iPRD. We developed 2 parameters for the iPRD: cone length (CL) in the upper part and spring pitch (SP) in the lower part. Using the response surface methodology (RSM), we determined the most suitable structural assignment for the iPRD. Results: Our results indicate that CMP-PRD had the highest von Mises stress value for the entire assembly (1076.26 MPa). For retentive screws and abutments, CMP with iPRD had the highest von Mises stress value (319.97 and 452.78 MPa, respectively). CMP-PRD had the highest principal stress (131.66 MPa) in the anterior mandible. The iPRD reduced principal stress in both the anterior and posterior mandible. Using the RSM, we generated 25 groups for comparison to achieve the most favorable results for the iPRD and we might suggest the CL to 12 mm and the SP to 0.4 mm in the further clinical trials. Conclusion: Use of the PRD and iPRD in CMP may resolve the challenges associated with CMP, thereby promoting its usage in clinical practice.

Considerable debate has arisen around the potential effects of increasing the minimum wage on employment. This study aims to analyze the impact of changes in China's minimum wage standard on employment. The research utilises the canonical model method and constructs a regression model based on standard labor economics theory. The analysis is conducted using sample data from Chinese industrial enterprises between 2000 and 2007. Regression analysis is performed by categorizing enterprises based on their level of human capital investment. The findings indicate that minimum wage increases have a non-linear impact on employment, when seen from the standpoint of human capital investment. When the level of human capital investment is low, an increase in the minimum wage standard leads to a decrease in employment; when the level of human capital investment is high, an increase in the minimum wage standard leads to an increase in employment. According to the findings, the reason for this is that, investments in human capital can improve business profitability, increase worker marginal productivity, and increase labor demand. Similarly, the employment effect of a change in the minimum wage is positive in regions with high levels of human capital investment due to the externality effect of human capital. Adjustments to the minimum wage have a negative impact on employment in areas of the country with low levels of human capital investment. This demonstrates that changing the minimum wage does not result in a simple increase or decrease in total employment. The level of investment in human capital within the organization and the region is an important factor in determining the type and magnitude of the impact.

BACKGROUND: There are a variety of determinants that are key to functional disability of older adults. However, little is known regarding the relationship between cognitive frailty and disability among older people. The aims of this study were to examine the associations between cognitive frailty and its six components with instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) functioning in community-dwelling older adults. METHODS: A total of 313 community-dwelling older adults (aged ≥ 65 years) were recruited from eight community centers in central China. Cognitive frailty was operationalized using the Mini-Mental State Examination for the evaluation of cognitive status and the Fried criteria for the evaluation of physical frailty. The outcome was functional disability assessed by the IADL scale. The association between cognitive frailty, as well as its components, and IADL limitations was identified by conducting binary logistic regression analysis. RESULTS: The prevalence of cognitive frailty was 8.9% in this study. The results showed that cognitive frailty (OR = 22.86) and frailty without cognitive impairment (OR = 8.15) were associated with IADL limitations. Subdimensions of cognitive frailty, exhaustion, weakness, low physical activity and cognitive impairment components were independently associated with IADL limitations. CONCLUSION: Cognitive frailty was associated with a higher prevalence of disability. Interventions for improving cognitive frailty should be developed to prevent IADL disability among community-dwelling older adults in China.

Objective To compare the discrepancies among results of three commonly used laboratory direct test methods for maximal oxygen uptake(VO2max),explore their linear regression relationships,mutual predictability and comparability.Methods Using a quasi-experimental design of cluster sampling and within-group interaction design,20 male cross-country skiers were tested for VO2max using the Bruce protocol(Method 1),90-second incremental load exercise on power bicycle(Method 2),and 1-minute incremental load exercise on treadmill(Method 3),with an interval of one week.The indepen-dent and dependent variable were the three VO2max test methods and the VO2max,respectively.Results Significant differences were found in the average VO2max of the three test results,with the value mea-sured by Method 1 ranking the first,followed by that assessed by Method 3 and Method 2(P<0.05).Moreover,the frequency of individual differences in the results of the three methods showed that the VO2max of Method 1 was about 6 and 3 ml/min·kg higher than that measured by Method 2 and 3.However,at the same treadmill speed,the average blood lactate evaluated using Method 3 was higher than Method 1,and the speed reached aerobic and anaerobic thresholds about one speed unit(1 km/h)lower than Method 1.Meanwhile,linear regression analyses of the test results between Method 1 and 2,as well as Method 1 and 3 showed that both the regression models and coefficients were statis-tically significant(P<0.001),with the R-squared values of 9.25 and 9.05,respectively.Conclusion The Bruce protocol performs best in assessing the maximum value of the athlete's VO2max phase,whose results have linear regression relationships with the other two methods,and can be used for pre-dicting their results.Moreover,athletes of different events and levels can choose different VO2max test methods accordingly.Lastly,the speed and heart rate ranges corresponding to the aerobic and anaero-bic thresholds can serve as an effective and convenient method to control the training intensity.

Understanding the dynamic link between the development of COVID-19 pandemic and industry sector risk spillovers is crucial to explore the underlying mechanisms by which major public health events affect economic systems. This paper applies ElasticNet method proposed by Diebold and Yilmaz (2009, 2012, 2014) to estimate the dynamic risk spillover indicators of 20 industrial sectors in China from 2016 to 2022, and systematically examines the impact of industry risk network fluctuations and the transmission path caused by COVID-19 shock. The findings reveal that risk spillovers of Chinese industries show a dynamic change of "decline-fluctuation-rebound" with the three phases of COVID-19 epidemic. At the beginning of the epidemic, machinery and equipment, paper and printing, tourism and hotels, media and information services, and agriculture were the exporters of epidemic risk, while materials, transportation equipment, commercial trade, health care, and environmental protection were the importers of epidemic risk; However, as the epidemic developed further, the direction and effect of risk transmission in the industry was reversed. Examining the network characteristics of the pair sectors, we found that under the epidemic shock, the positive risk spillover from tourism and hotels, culture, education and sports to consumer goods, finance, and energy industries was significantly increased, and finance and real estate industries were affected by the risk impact of more industries, while the number of industries affected by information technology and computer industry was significantly reduced. This paper shows that there is inter-industry risk transmission of the COVID-19 epidemic shock, and the risk transmission feeds back in a cycle between industries as the epidemic develops, driving the economy into a vicious circle. The role of the service sector in blocking the spread of negative shocks from the epidemic should be emphasized and brought into play to avoid increasing the overall economic vulnerability. This study will help to deepen the understanding of scholars and policy makers on the network transmission effects of the epidemic.
