RÉSUMÉ

Micro- and nano-encapsulation techniques, such as microfluidization, spray drying, and centrifugal extrusion, have been widely utilized in various industries, including pharmaceuticals, food, cosmetics, and agriculture, to improve the stability, shelf life, and bioavailability of active ingredients, such as vitamin A. Emulsion-based delivery platforms offer feasible and appropriate alternatives for safeguarding, encapsulating, and transporting bioactive compounds. Therefore, there is a need to enrich our basic diet to prevent vitamin A deficiency within a population. This review focused on addressing vitamin A shortages, encapsulation techniques for improving the delivery of vital vitamins A and their food applications. Additionally, more studies are required to guarantee the security of nano-delivery strategies, as they proliferate in the food and beverage sector.

RÉSUMÉ

Technological improvements in dietary supplements and nutraceuticals have highlighted the significance of bioactive molecules in a healthy lifestyle. Eicosapentaenoic acid and Cervonic acid (DHA), omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids seem to be famed for their ability to prevent diverse physiological abnormalities. Selection of appropriate pretreatments and extraction techniques for extraction of lipids from robust microalgae cell wall are very important to retain their stability and bioactivity. Therefore, extraction techniques with optimized extraction parameters offer an excellent approach for obtaining quality oil with a high yield. Oils enriched in omega-3 are particularly imperiled to oxidation which ultimately affects customer acceptance. Bio active encapsulation could be one of the effective approaches to overcome this dilemma. This review paper aims to give insight into the cultivation methods, and downstream processes, various lipid extraction approaches, techniques for retaining oxidative stability, bioavailability and food applications based on extracted or encapsulated omega-3.

RÉSUMÉ

English oral delivery of drug was the commonly used modality because of patient compliance and ease of administration. After oral administration of any drug, its bioavailability is affected by its residence time in stomach. Recently, gastroretentive drug delivery systems (GRDDS) have gained wide acceptance for drugs with a narrow absorption window, decreased stability at high alkaline pH, and increased solubility at low pH. This approach develops a drug delivery system, which gets retained within gastric fluid, thereby releasing its active principles in the stomach. Some methods used to achieve gastric retention of drugs include the use of effervescence agents, mucoadhesive polymers, magnetic material, bouncy enhancing excipient, and techniques that form plug-like devices that resist gastric emptying. This review provides a concise account of various attributes of recently developed approaches for GRDDS.
