RÉSUMÉ

The granular cell tumor, or Abrikossofs tumor, is a benign rare neoplastic disease, which affects the larynx in approximately 6% of all the described locations. Its nervoux origin is admitted by the majority of the specialists and its treatment is only surgical. After describing the histopathology and the clinical characteristics of the lesion, we describe a most unusual atypical endolaryngeal location. In our review we have not found any case described as such.

RÉSUMÉ

A case of a 72 year-old woman, with a verrucous lesion was presented. The lesion was characterized by a purple colour and measured 2 X 1.5 cm. in diameter. The patient had the lesion for 1 year and reported previous repetitive traumas, suggesting a clinical diagnosis of traumatic seborrheic keratosis. The histological study reveal a clear cell acanthoma.

RÉSUMÉ

This study presents the first Venezuelan case of perforating granuloma annulare in an eleven year-old patient. The cutaneous eruption was characterized by minute lichenoid papules which have persisted for two years. These lesions were asymptomatic and most perforating, appearing in the dorsal side of hands and fingers. The histopathological study showed a classical granuloma annulare with sites of necrobiosis and perforation of the epithelium. This "transepithelial perforation" allows the elimination of collagen and cell detritus observed. The patient responds well to the injection of steroids into lesions.

RÉSUMÉ

The solitary glomus tumor is considered by many authors a benign cutaneous neoplasm which gives rise to severe paroxysmal pains and it is frequently localized in the subungual region. Malignant glomus tumors have not been found in the skin but if in the stomach and duodenum. This study reports a case of 62 year old woman with a painful red nodule of 0.80 cm. in diameter, situated on the dorsal right arm. The duration of illness was unknown. Histopathologic studies showed a dermal tumor characterized by multilobulated masses composed of glomus cells and a high portion of anaplastic, pleomorphic cells. Cytochemical stain showed a myxoid matrix composed of nonsulphated acid mucopolysaccharides in which the tumor mass lies.

RÉSUMÉ

Three cases of granular cell myoblastoma have been studied in order to determine the presence and distribution of the S-100 specific protein in the neoplastic cells, using immunocytochemical staining techniques, through the modified avidin-biotin method. Positive immunostaining was observed in the three cases studied. The comparative study of various control cases histogenetically originating from neuroectoderm (melanoma) and specifically from Schwann cells, as also the presence of strongly positive staining in Schwann cells of peripheral nerve fibres situated inside and outside the tumor, support the concept of the neurogenic origin of this interesting tumor.

RÉSUMÉ

Four filariae are known to parasitize the capybara "Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris" namely the "Cruorifilaria tuberocauda", Eberhard, Morales & Orihel (1976). The "Dipetalonema (Alafilaria) hydrochoerus", Yates (1983), and two "mansonella" recently described by Eberhard, Campo-Aasen & Orihel (1983), "Mansonella longicapita" and "Mansonella rotundicapita". In this study we describe the adult parasites and the microfilaria of the "Cruorifilaria tuberocauda" (Nematoda, Filarioidea), Eberhard, Morales & Orihel (1976) obtained from the arteries of the kidney of two capybaras from Apure and Barinas states of Venezuela. The pathology produced by the presence of the filariae in kidney and lungs of the animals is described as well as the blood harboring microfilaria.

RÉSUMÉ

We present the case of a patient with the clinical and histopathological diagnosis of Reactive Perforating Collagenosis, the first case described in the Venezuelan Dermatological literature. The most frequent histopathological and differential clinical diagnoses are reviewed with regard to Kyrle's disease, Elastosis Perforans Serpiginosa and Perforating Folliculitis. Clinically our patient presented with a papular eruption over an erythematous base on the right forearm and the dorsum of the right hand. On the lower third on its ventral aspect these papules adopted a linear distribution suggesting an isomorphic reaction. Histopathologically, the phenomena of transepithelial elimination was observed. Finally we reviewed the multiple treatment modalities described in the literature for this disease. We treated our patient with topical retinoic acid at a 0.05% concentration nightly for seven nights with excellent results. At the present time she is free of cutaneous lesions.
