RÉSUMÉ

A family of peptides known as bioactive peptides has unique physiological properties and may be used to improve human health and prevent illness. Because bioactive peptides impact the immunological, endocrine, neurological, and cardiovascular systems, they have drawn a lot of interest from researchers. According to recent studies, bioactive peptides have a lot to offer in the treatment of inflammation, neuronal regeneration, localized ischemia, and the blood-brain barrier. It investigates various peptide moieties, including antioxidative properties, immune response modulation, and increased blood-brain barrier permeability. It also looks at how well they work as therapeutic candidates and finds promising peptide-based strategies for better outcomes. Furthermore, it underscores the need for further studies to support their clinical utility and suggests that results from such investigations will enhance our understanding of the pathophysiology of these conditions. In order to understand recent advances in BPs and to plan future research, academic researchers and industrial partners will find this review article to be a helpful resource.

Huntington's disease (HD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by cognitive, motor, and psychiatric symptoms. Despite significant advances in understanding the underlying molecular mechanisms of HD, there is currently no cure or disease-modifying treatment available. Emerging pharmacological approaches offer promising strategies to alleviate symptoms and slow down disease progression. This comprehensive review aims to provide a critical appraisal of the latest developments in pharmacological interventions for HD. The review begins by discussing the pathogenesis of HD, focusing on the role of mutant huntingtin protein, mitochondrial dysfunction, excitotoxicity, and neuro-inflammation. It then explores emerging therapeutic targets, including the modulation of protein homeostasis, mitochondrial function, neuro-inflammation, and neurotransmitter systems. Pharmacological agents targeting these pathways are discussed, including small molecules, gene-based therapies, and neuroprotective agents. In recent years, several clinical trials have been conducted to evaluate the safety and efficiency of novel compounds for HD. This review presents an update on the outcomes of these trials, highlighting promising results and challenges encountered. Additionally, it discusses the potential of repurposing existing drugs approved for other indications as a cost-effective approach for HD treatment. The review concludes by summarizing the current state of pharmacological approaches for HD and outlining future directions in drug development. The integration of multiple therapeutic strategies, personalized medicine approaches, and combination therapies are highlighted as potential avenues to maximize treatment effectiveness.

Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide Phosphate (NAD(P)H) plays an important role in numerous biologically significant redox reactions. The photochemical restoration of its oxidized form (NAD(P)+) under physiological conditions is intriguing in the context of integrated photo and catalysis. Herein, we report the functionalized graphitic carbon-based solar light active photocatalyst by doping boron and fluorine in the native graphitic carbon nitride (GCN) (nonfunctionalized) for the regeneration of enzymatically visible light active coenzyme and in photo-acetalization reactions. The metal-free functionalized photocatalyst systems such as BFGCN-x leads to higher yield NADH and NADPH regeneration. They are also capable of catalyzing acetal reactions in the absence of any Lewis and Bronsted acids. The current research endeavor provides the advancement and the application of functionalized GCN-based photocatalysts for NADH (61.89%), NADPH (59.84%) regeneration, and photo-acetalization reactions.

Neurological disorders, characterized by oxidative stress (OS) and inflammation, have become a major global health concern. Redox reactions play a vital role in regulating the balance of the neuronal microenvironment. Specifically, the imbalance leads to a significant weakening of the organism's natural defensive mechanisms. This, in turn, causes the development of harmful oxidative stress, which plays a crucial role in the onset and progression of neurodegenerative dis-eases. The quest for effective therapeutic agents has led to significant advancements in the syn-thesis of antioxidant derivatives. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the recent developments in the use of novel antioxidant compounds with potential pharmacological applica-tions in the management of neurological disorders. The discussed compounds encompass a di-verse range of chemical structures, including polyphenols, vitamins, flavonoids, and hybrid mole-cules, highlighting their varied mechanisms of action. This review also focuses on the mechanism of oxidative stress in developing neurodegenerative disease. The neuroprotective effects of these antioxidant derivatives are explored in the context of specific neurological disorders, including Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and Huntington's disease. The ultimate goal is to pro-vide effective treatments for these debilitating conditions and improve the quality of life for pa-tients.

Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and MXenes have gained prominence in the queue of advanced material research. Both materials' outstanding physical and chemical characteristics prominently promote their utilization in diverse fields, especially the electrochemical energy storage (EES) domain. The collective contribution of extremely high specific surface area (SSA), customizable pores, and abundant active sites propose MOFs as integral materials for EES devices. However, conventional MOFs endure low conductivity, constraining their utility in practical applications. The development of hybrid materials via integrating MOFs with various conductive materials stands out as an effective approach to improvising MOF's conductivity. MXenes, formulated as two-dimensional (2D) carbides and nitrides of transition metals, fall in the category of the latest 2D materials. MXenes possess extensive structural diversity, impressive conductivity, and rich surface chemical characteristics. The electrochemical characteristics of MOF@MXene hybrids outperform MOFs and MXenes individually, credited to the synergistic effect of both components. Additionally, the MOF derivatives coupled with MXene, exhibiting unique morphologies, demonstrate outstanding electrochemical performance. The important attributes of MOF@MXene hybrids, including the various synthesis protocols, have been summarized in this review. This review delves into the architectural analysis of both MOFs and MXenes, along with their advanced hybrids. Furthermore, the comprehensive survey of the latest advancements in MOF@MXene hybrids as electroactive material for supercapacitors (SCs) is the prime objective of this review. The review concludes with an elaborate discussion of the current challenges faced and the future outlooks for optimizing MOF@MXene composites.

Mitochondria, traditionally known as cellular powerhouses, now emerge as critical signaling centers influencing cancer progression and drug resistance. The review highlights the role that apoptotic signaling, DNA mutations, mitochondrial dynamics and metabolism play in the development of resistance mechanisms and the advancement of cancer. Targeted approaches are discussed, with an emphasis on managing mitophagy, fusion, and fission of the mitochondria to make resistant cancer cells more susceptible to traditional treatments. Additionally, metabolic reprogramming can be used to effectively target metabolic enzymes such GLUT1, HKII, PDK, and PKM2 in order to avoid resistance mechanisms. Although there are potential possibilities for therapy, the complex structure of mitochondria and their subtle role in tumor development hamper clinical translation. Novel targeted medicines are put forth, providing fresh insights on combating drug resistance in cancer. The study also emphasizes the significance of glutamine metabolism, mitochondrial respiratory complexes, and apoptotic pathways as potential targets to improve treatment effectiveness against drug-resistant cancers. Combining complementary and nanoparticle-based techniques to target mitochondria has demonstrated encouraging results in the treatment of cancer, opening doors to reduce resistance and enable individualized treatment plans catered to the unique characteristics of each patient. Suggesting innovative approaches such as drug repositioning and mitochondrial drug delivery to enhance the efficacy of mitochondria-targeting therapies, presenting a pathway for advancements in cancer treatment. This thorough investigation is a major step forward in the treatment of cancer and has the potential to influence clinical practice and enhance patient outcomes.

Background: There are significant barriers to healthcare access in tribal areas, even though for every 834 people, there is one public physician (registered allopathic and AYUSH doctors). More than 86% of hospital visits occur in rural areas. Furthermore, the bulk of them travel long distances to reach hospitals. A telemedicine center was established in the aspirational tribal district of Sirohi, Rajasthan, to provide accessible quality health care. Objective: To understand providers' attitudes and satisfaction with telemedicine services for tribal populations. Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional, mixed-method study enrolled consultants from various clinical departments of AIIMS Jodhpur (n = 23) who provide teleconsultations to the tribal population. Result: The mean score of the satisfactory index was 54.7 ± 22.04. The higher score is 87.4 regarding the ability to use the technology platform during teleconsultation. The lower score was 34.7 for video quality during teleconsultation at STHR. 91.3% found this a beneficial model for the tribal population. Consultants providing teleconsultations expressed that this model is a boon for tribal patients as a screening tool and will save time and money for improved accessibility. Conclusion: Positive indications of teleconsultation with a provider's utility, acceptability, and satisfaction. Most marginalized people can efficiently access all levels of (primary, secondary, or tertiary) health care from experts through telemedicine, which will broaden outreach in hard-to-reach or inaccessible tribal or rural areas.

Background: The use of digital media (DM) is increasing among school-children, which can affect their sleep habits. The primary objective of this study was to evaluate the association of DM use with sleep habits in school-children. Methods: It was a cross-sectional study of healthy school children. Sleep habits and DM use were assessed using the Children's Sleep Habits Questionnaire (CSHQ) and SCREENS-Q, respectively. The Pearson correlation coefficient was used to establish the correlation between the two variables. Logistic regression analysis was performed to quantify the extent of association between variables. A p-value <0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: A total of 205 children were enrolled with a mean (SD) age of 7.1 (2.1) years. The mean (SD) sleep duration was 7.58 (0.80) hours. The mean (SD) CSHQ score was 50.6 (5.1). Use of DM was observed in 204 (99.5 %) children. On multivariate logistic regression analysis, DM use ≥2 h/day was significantly associated with higher CSHQ score (OR 1.28, 95%CI 1.18-1.40; p = 0.001). Sleep domains significantly affected by DM use ≥2 h/day were bedtime resistance (OR 1.55, 95 % CI 1.24-1.94; p < 0.001), sleep duration (OR 0.40, 95 % CI 0.28-0.58:p < 0.001), sleep anxiety (OR 1.69, 95%CI 1.40-2.04:p < 0.001), night awakening (OR 4.81 95 % CI 2.98-7.78:p < 0.001), parasomnias (OR 1.86, 95 % CI 1.45-2.38:p < 0.001), and daytime sleepiness (OR1.89,95 % CI 1.52-2.36: p < 0.001). DM use 30 min before bedtime was significantly associated with a higher CSHQ score (OR 1.32, 95 % CI 1.20-1.45; p < 0.001). In bivariate regression analysis, DM use ≥2 h/day was associated with poor academic performance (OR 2.36 95 % CI 1.28-4.35; p 0.006). Conclusion: This study has shown that the average sleep duration in children was shorter than the recommended duration. DM use was common in school children and it has a significant association with sleep habits especially with use of ≥2 h/day and 30 mints before bedtime. It was also associated with poor academic performance. Public awareness on effect of DM use in school children is the need of the hour.

Sheath blight (ShB) is the most serious disease of rice (Oryza sativa L.), caused by the soil-borne fungus Rhizoctonia solani Kühn (R. solani). It poses a significant threat to global rice productivity, resulting in approximately 50% annual yield loss. Managing ShB is particularly challenging due to the broad host range of the pathogen, its necrotrophic nature, the emergence of new races, and the limited availability of highly resistant germplasm. In this study, we conducted QTL mapping using an F2 population derived from a cross between a partially resistant accession (IRGC81941A) of Oryza nivara and the susceptible rice cultivar Punjab rice 121 (PR121). Our analysis identified 29 QTLs for ShB resistance, collectively explaining a phenotypic variance ranging from 4.70 to 48.05%. Notably, a cluster of four QTLs (qRLH1.1, qRLH1.2, qRLH1.5, and qRLH1.8) on chromosome 1 consistently exhibit a resistant response against R. solani. These QTLs span from 0.096 to 420.1 Kb on the rice reference genome and contain several important genes, including Ser/Thr protein kinase, auxin-responsive protein, protease inhibitor/seed storage/LTP family protein, MLO domain-containing protein, disease-responsive protein, thaumatin-like protein, Avr9/Cf9-eliciting protein, and various transcription factors. Additionally, simple sequence repeats (SSR) markers RM212 and RM246 linked to these QTLs effectively distinguish resistant and susceptible rice cultivars, showing great promise for marker-assisted selection programs. Furthermore, our study identified pre-breeding lines in the advanced backcrossed population that exhibited superior agronomic traits and sheath blight resistance compared to the recurrent parent. These promising lines hold significant potential for enhancing the sheath blight resistance in elite cultivars through targeted improvement efforts.

INTRODUCTION: India's contribution to the malaria burden was highest in South-East Asia Region in 2021, accounting for 79% of the estimated malaria cases and 83% of malaria-related deaths. Intensified Malaria Control Programme supported by Global Funds to Fight against AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria has deployed crucial interventions to reduce the overall burden of malaria in India. Evaluation of utilisation of malaria elimination interventions by the community and assessment of the healthcare system is underway in eleven high malaria endemic states in India. Health system preparedness for malaria elimination, logistics, and supply chain management of diagnostic kits and anti-malarial drugs in addition to the knowledge, attitude and practice of the healthcare workers is also being assessed. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: The study is being undertaken in 11 malaria endemic states with a variable annual parasite incidence of malaria. In total, 47 districts (administrative unit of malaria control operations) covering 37 976 households are to be interviewed and assessed. We present here the protocol following which the study is being undertaken at the behest and approval of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in India. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION: No patients were involved in the study. Study findings will be shared with Institutional ethics board of National Institute for Malaria Research New Delhi (NIMR) in a timely, comprehensive, accurate, unbiased, unambiguous and transparent manner and to the National Vector-borne Disease (Malaria) Control Programme officers and the Community public who participated. Important findings will be communicated through community outreach meetings which are existing in the Health system. Results will be informed to study participants via local fieldwork supervised by District Malaria Officers. Also findings will be published in reputed journals based on Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) publication policy.The ICMR-NIMR ethics committee approved the study via letter No. NIMR/ECM/2023/Feb/14 dated 24 April 2023 for version 5. All standard ethical practices will be followed.

BACKGROUND: India aims to eliminate rubella and congenital rubella syndrome (CRS) by 2023. We conducted serosurveys among pregnant women to monitor the trend of rubella immunity and estimate the CRS burden in India following a nationwide measles and rubella vaccination campaign. METHODS: We surveyed pregnant women at 13 sentinel sites across India from Aug to Oct 2022 to estimate seroprevalence of rubella IgG antibodies. Using age-specific seroprevalence data from serosurveys conducted during 2017/2019 (prior to and during the vaccination campaign) and 2022 surveys (after the vaccination campaign), we developed force of infection (FOI) models and estimated incidence and burden of CRS. RESULTS: In 2022, rubella seroprevalence was 85.2% (95% CI: 84.0, 86.2). Among 10 sites which participated in both rounds of serosurveys, the seroprevalence was not different between the two periods (pooled prevalence during 2017/2019: 83.5%, 95% CI: 82.1, 84.8; prevalence during 2022: 85.1%, 95% CI: 83.8, 86.3). The estimated annual incidence of CRS during 2017/2019 in India was 218.3 (95% CI: 209.7, 226.5) per 100, 000 livebirths, resulting in 47,120 (95% CI: 45,260, 48,875) cases of CRS every year. After measles-rubella (MR) vaccination campaign, the estimated incidence of CRS declined to 5.3 (95% CI: 0, 21.2) per 100,000 livebirths, resulting in 1141 (95% CI: 0, 4,569) cases of CRS during the post MR-vaccination campaign period. CONCLUSION: The incidence of CRS in India has substantially decreased following the nationwide MR vaccination campaign. About 15% of women in childbearing age in India lack immunity to rubella and hence susceptible to rubella infection. Since there are no routine rubella vaccination opportunities for this age group under the national immunization program, it is imperative to maintain high rates of rubella vaccination among children to prevent rubella virus exposure among women of childbearing age susceptible for rubella.

For medical fraternity, health system and policymakers to undertake effective countermeasures, a comprehensive assessment of the prevalence of anxiety among older adults is required; hence, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis using data pooled from surveys across the country. The search strategy was developed using medical subject headings (MeSH) terms and free-text keywords. We searched PubMed and Scopus for articles to report the prevalence of anxiety among older adults. The appraisal tool for cross-sectional studies was used for quality assessment. Prevalence from different studies was pooled together using the inverse variance heterogeneity method. Sensitivity analyses were performed to assess the impact of included studies' methodological quality on pooled results and to investigate potential causes of heterogeneity. Twenty-three studies were included in this systematic review. The overall pooled estimate of the prevalence of anxiety in older adults was 18.7% (95% CI: 2.4, 38.8). The studies had a high degree of heterogeneity. Publication bias was assessed using a Doi plot which showed an luis furuya-kanamori (LFK) index of 1.21 indicating minor asymmetry. Like other parts of the world, India has witnessed a rise in the number of elderly due to lower fertility rates, higher life expectancies and a shift in illness patterns from communicable to non-communicable. The number of elderly people suffering from diseases of mental health is expected to rise dramatically. This review consolidates the existing evidence to showcase anxiety as an upcoming public health problem requiring due focus from policymakers and health systems.

Designing stimuli-responsive drug delivery vehicles with higher drug loading capacity, sustained and targeted release of anti-cancer drugs and able to mitigate the shortcomings of traditional systems is need of hour. Herein, we designed stimuli-responsive, self-healable, and adhesive hydrogel through synergetic interaction between [Cho][Gly] (Choline-Glycine) and sodium alginate (SA). The hydrogel was formed as a result of non-covalent interaction between the components of the mixture forming the fibre kind morphology; confirmed through FTIR/computational analysis and SEM/AFM images. The hydrogel exhibited excellent mechanical strength, self-healing ability, adhesive character and most importantly; adjustable injectability. In vitro biocompatibility of the hydrogel was tested on HaCaT and MCF-7 cells, showing >92 % cell viability after 48 h. The hemolysis ratio (<4 %) of the hydrogel confirmed the blood compatibility of the hydrogel. When tested for drug-loading capacity, the hydrogel show 1500 times drug loading for the 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) against the SA based hydrogel. In vitro release data indicated that 5-FU have more preference towards the cancerous cell condition, i.e. acidic pH (>85 %), whereas the drug-loaded hydrogel successfully killed the MCF-7 and HeLa cell with a

Central Nervous System (CNS) disorders affect millions of people worldwide, with a significant proportion experiencing drug-resistant forms where conventional medications fail to provide adequate seizure control. This abstract delves into recent advancements and innovative therapies aimed at addressing the complex challenge of CNS-related drug-resistant epilepsy (DRE) management. The idea of precision medicine has opened up new avenues for epilepsy treatment. Herbs such as curcumin, ginkgo biloba, panax ginseng, bacopa monnieri, ashwagandha, and rhodiola rosea influence the BDNF pathway through various mechanisms. These include the activation of CREB, inhibition of NF-κB, modulation of neurotransmitters, reduction of oxidative stress, and anti- inflammatory effects. By promoting BDNF expression and activity, these herbs support neuroplasticity, cognitive function, and overall neuronal health. Novel antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) with distinct mechanisms of action demonstrate efficacy in refractory cases where traditional medications falter. Additionally, repurposing existing drugs for antiepileptic purposes presents a cost-effective strategy to broaden therapeutic choices. Cannabidiol (CBD), derived from cannabis herbs, has garnered attention for its anticonvulsant properties, offering a potential adjunctive therapy for refractory seizures. In conclusion, recent advances and innovative therapies represent a multifaceted approach to managing drug-resistant epilepsy. Leveraging precision medicine, neurostimulation technologies, novel pharmaceuticals, and complementary therapies, clinicians can optimize treatment outcomes and improve the life expectancy of patients living with refractory seizures. Genetic testing and biomarker identification now allow for personalized therapeutic approaches tailored to individual patient profiles. Utilizing next-generation sequencing techniques, researchers have elucidated genetic mutations.

Digital health interventions can overcome geographical barriers and prepare health-care providers for better health outcomes in rural and remote tribal areas, however, it has not been explored among traditional birth attendants (TBAs). A mobile application, "maternal and infant care" (MAI) for capacity building of tribal birth attendants was developed and its quality was evaluated using the Mobile Application Rating Scale for user's interest in and satisfaction with the esthetics, information, and functionality. Thirteen Android user TBAs with the MAI application were piloted with the MARS checklist. Engagement, functionality, esthetics, and information quality; and one subjective quality scale having 29 items were used. The application was found to be entertaining excellent rating (mean score ± standard deviation) (4.00 ± 0.58), and scored high on performance (3.77 ± 0.93); layout design (3.85 ± 0.90); subjective quality (4.23 ± 0.93), however, scored minimum on interest; gestural design; visual appeal, etc. MAI is a user-friendly, culturally acceptable Android app that can be used for the capacity building of frontline workers.

Background: Initial randomised controlled trials (RCTs) showed that prophylactic azithromycin in pregnant women improved maternal and neonatal outcomes; however, the recent evidence did not show any benefit to neonatal survival. There is conflicting evidence over the role of azithromycin prophylaxis in antenatal and intrapartum periods. We explored whether azithromycin prophylaxis in pregnant women improves maternal and neonatal outcomes. Methods: For this systematic review and meta-analysis registered on PROSPERO [CRD42023411093], we searched seven databases (PubMed, Scopus, Embase, Cochrane Library, EBSCOHost, ProQuest, and Web of Science) and clinical trial registries until 04/23/2024, for RCTs evaluating antenatal/intrapartum azithromycin prophylaxis against placebo/routine care in pregnant women. The primary outcome was neonatal mortality. Intrapartum and antenatal administration were assessed separately. We used random-effects meta-analysis. The risk of bias was assessed using the Cochrane RoB 2 tool. The GRADE approach was used to evaluate the certainty of the evidence. Findings: Screening 2161 records retrieved 20 RCTs (56,381 participants). Intrapartum azithromycin may make little or no difference to neonatal mortality [5 RCTs, 44,436 participants; Risk Ratio (RR): 1.02, 95% CI 0.86-1.20, I 2  = 0%, very low certainty], and maternal mortality [3 RCTs, 44,131 participants, RR: 1.26, 0.65-2.42, I 2  = 0%, low certainty]. Similarly, antenatal azithromycin may have little or no effect on neonatal mortality [3 RCTs; 5304 participants; RR: 0.74, 0.35-1.56, I 2  = 43%, very-low certainty] and maternal mortality [3 RCTs; 8167 participants RR: 1.62, 0.67-3.91, I 2  = 0%, low certainty]. There is no data on long-term adverse outcomes and antimicrobial resistance. Interpretation: Low to very low certainty evidence suggests that intrapartum or antenatal azithromycin prophylaxis in pregnant women might not reduce maternal or neonatal mortality. Funding: None.

AIM: Vitamin D is involved in several processes related to the development of neuronal and non-neuronal cells. There is a possible link between maternal vitamin D status in pregnancy and delayed neurocognitive development in the offspring. The aim of the study was to explore the association of maternal and cord blood vitamin D levels with infants' neurodevelopment at 6 and 9 months of age. METHODOLOGY: A cohort study was conducted in western Rajasthan, India. Maternal and cord blood samples were collected at the time of delivery. Serum 25(OH)-vitamin D levels were measured in both. Infant neurodevelopment was assessed at 6 and 9 months of age in six domains namely cognitive, receptive language, expressive language, fine motor, gross motor and social-emotional using the Bayley Scale of Infant Development- III (BSID-III). RESULTS: A total of 175 mother-child pairs were enrolled. Among the mothers taking part in this study, 7.3% had deficient and 59.09% had insufficient levels of serum 25(OH) vitamin D during the third trimester of their pregnancy. Maternal and cord blood serum 25-OH vitamin D levels were 18.86 ± 8.53 ng/mL and 17.39 ± 8.87 ng/mL, respectively, and there was a significant correlation (r = 0.9778, p = 0.000) between levels of vitamin D. Based on the repeated measures ANOVA, post hoc Tukey's HSD test, maternal vitamin D levels had a significant relationship (p = 0.047) to the cognitive development of infants at 6 months of age. Furthermore, cord serum vitamin D levels showed a significant association (p = 0.023 and p = 0.010) with the social-emotional development of the infant at the age of 6 and 9 months. CONCLUSION: Maternal and cord serum 25-OH vitamin D deficiency was significantly associated with the cognitive and social-emotional development of infants.

The dynamics of nonlinear ion-acoustic solitary waves in the presence of kinetic (Landau type) damping have been investigated in a collisionless, non-magnetized electron-ion plasma. A cold ion fluid model, coupled to a Vlasov-type kinetic equation for the electron dynamics, has been adopted as a starting point. The electron population was assumed to be in a kappa-distributed state, in account of the non-Maxwellian behavior of energetic (suprathermal) electrons often observed in Space. A multiscale perturbation technique has led to an evolution equation for the electrostatic potential, in the form of a modified Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation, incorporating a non-local term accounting for Landau damping (associated with the electron statistics). Exact analytical solutions have been obtained, representing solitary waves undergoing amplitude decay over time. The combined effect of Landau damping and non-Maxwellian electron statistics (via the kappa parameter) on the characteristics of IASWs has been examined. Numerical integration of the evolution equation has been undertaken, to elucidate the importance of kinetic Landau damping on a shock-shaped initial condition. The results of this investigation aim to improve our understanding of the dynamics of nonlinear electrostatic waves under the influence of Landau damping in various space plasma environments.

The objective of this study was to assess the effectiveness of simulation-based training (SBT) of a ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) bundle of care on the knowledge and practice of nursing officers working in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) and its impact on the incidence of VAP. This study was a single-center, pre- and postsimulation-based educational interventional tool conducted in a six-bed PICU located in Western Rajasthan, India. Thirty nursing officers working in the PICU participated in the study. Baseline knowledge and practice regarding VAP bundle of care were assessed using a questionnaire and practice checklist. It was followed by 1:1 SBT of the VAP bundle of care following which all participants were immediately reassessed and then again at 3 months postintervention. The incidence of VAP (events/1,000 ventilation days) was subsequently compared both at 6 months pre- and postintervention. Thirty nursing officers participated in the study of which 63% were male. Baseline knowledge and practice increased significantly immediately after the VAP bundle of care training and then again at 3 months in comparison to preintervention testing (baseline 20.27 ± 4.51, immediate postintervention 26.0 ± 3.67, 3 months postintervention 23.97 ± 4.69). The incidence of VAP showed a declining trend from 46.1 to 36.5/1,000 ventilation days; however, this finding was not statistically significant ( p = 0.22). The simulation-based teaching program significantly enhanced nursing officers' knowledge and practice toward utilization of a preventive VAP bundle of care. There was decay in knowledge with time indicating that repetitive sessions are required at regular intervals to sustain this effect.
