In addition to considering the main effects, understanding gene-environment (G × E) interactions is imperative for determining the etiology of diseases and the factors that affect their prognosis. In the existing statistical framework for censored survival outcomes, there are several challenges in detecting G × E interactions, such as handling high-dimensional omics data, diverse environmental factors, and algorithmic complications in survival analysis. The effect heredity principle has widely been used in studies involving interaction identification because it incorporates the dependence of the main and interaction effects. However, Bayesian survival models that incorporate the assumption of this principle have not been developed. Therefore, we propose Bayesian heredity-constrained accelerated failure time (BHAFT) models for identifying main and interaction (M-I) effects with novel spike-and-slab or regularized horseshoe priors to incorporate the assumption of effect heredity principle. The R package rstan was used to fit the proposed models. Extensive simulations demonstrated that BHAFT models had outperformed other existing models in terms of signal identification, coefficient estimation, and prognosis prediction. Biologically plausible G × E interactions associated with the prognosis of lung adenocarcinoma were identified using our proposed model. Notably, BHAFT models incorporating the effect heredity principle could identify both main and interaction effects, which are highly useful in exploring G × E interactions in high-dimensional survival analysis. Rapidly obtaining the chlorophyll content of crop leaves is of great significance for timely diagnosis of crop health and effective field management. Multispectral imagery obtained from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) is being used to remotely sense the SPAD (Soil and Plant Analyzer Development) values of wheat crops. However, existing research has not yet fully considered the impact of different growth stages and crop populations on the accuracy of SPAD estimation. In this study, 300 materials from winter wheat natural populations in Xinjiang, collected between 2020 to 2022, were analyzed. UAV multispectral images were obtained in the experimental area, and vegetation indices were extracted to analyze the correlation between the selected vegetation indices and SPAD values. The input variables for the model were screened, and a support vector machine (SVM) model was constructed to estimate SPAD values during the heading, flowering, and filling stages under different water stresses. The aim was to provide a method for the rapid acquisition of winter wheat SPAD values. The results showed that the SPAD values under normal irrigation were higher than those under water restriction. Multiple vegetation indices were significantly correlated with SPAD values. In the prediction model construction of SPAD, the different models had high estimation accuracy under both normal irrigation and water limitation treatments, with correlation coefficients of predicted and measured values under normal irrigation in different environments the value of r from 0.59 to 0.81 and RMSE from 2.15 to 11.64, compared to RE from 0.10% to 1.00%; and under drought stress in different environments, correlation coefficients of predicted and measured values of r was 0.69-0.79, RMSE was 2.30-12.94, and RE was 0.10%-1.30%. This study demonstrated that the optimal combination of feature selection methods and machine learning algorithms can lead to a more accurate estimation of winter wheat SPAD values. In summary, the SVM model based on UAV multispectral images can rapidly and accurately estimate winter wheat SPAD value.

SRY-box transcription factor 30 (SOX30) participates in tumor cell apoptosis in lung cancer. The occurrence of somatic SOX30 mutations, the expression signature of SOX30 in normal and cancer tissues, the correlation of SOX30 with immune cells and immune-related genes, and the clinical significance of SOX30 in various cancers have stimulated interest in SOX30 as a potential cancer biomarker. SOX30 influences drug sensitivity and tumor immunity in specific cancer types. In this review, we have comprehensively summarized the latest research on the role of SOX30 in cancer by combining bioinformatics evidence and a literature review. We summarize recent research on SOX30 in cancer regarding somatic mutations, trials, transcriptome analysis, clinical information, and SOX30-mediated regulation of malignant phenotypes. Additionally, we report on the diagnostic value of SOX30 mRNA expression levels across different cancer types. This review on the role of SOX30 in cancer progression may provide insights into possible research directions for SOX30 in cancer and a theoretical basis for guiding future studies.

Background: Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), including the lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC) and lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) subtypes, is a malignant tumor type with a poor 5-year survival rate. The identification of new powerful diagnostic biomarkers, prognostic biomarkers, and potential therapeutic targets in NSCLC is urgently required. Methods: The UCSC Xena, UALCAN, and GEO databases were used to screen and analyze differentially expressed genes, regulatory modes, and genetic/epigenetic alterations in NSCLC. The UCSC Xena database, GEO database, tissue microarray, and immunohistochemistry staining analyses were used to evaluate the diagnostic and prognostic values. Gain-of-function assays were performed to examine the roles. The ESTIMATE, TIMER, Linked Omics, STRING, and DAVID algorithms were used to analyze potential molecular mechanisms. Results: NR3C2 was identified as a potentially important molecule in NSCLC. NR3C2 is expressed at low levels in NSCLC, LUAD, and LUSC tissues, which is significantly related to the clinical indexes of these patients. Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis suggests that the altered NR3C2 expression patterns have diagnostic value in NSCLC, LUAD, and especially LUSC patients. Decreased NR3C2 expression levels can help predict poor prognosis in NSCLC and LUAD patients but not in LUSC patients. These results have been confirmed both with database analysis and real-world clinical samples on a tissue microarray. Copy number variation contributes to low NR3C2 expression levels in NSCLC and LUAD, while promoter DNA methylation is involved in its downregulation in LUSC. Two NR3C2 promoter methylation sites have high sensitivity and specificity for LUSC diagnosis with clinical application potential. NR3C2 may be a key participant in NSCLC development and progression and is closely associated with the tumor microenvironment and immune cell infiltration. NR3C2 co-expressed genes are involved in many cancer-related signaling pathways, further supporting a potentially significant role of NR3C2 in NSCLC. Conclusions: NR3C2 is a novel potential diagnostic and prognostic biomarker and therapeutic target in NSCLC.

In this study, the "milky disease" model of Eriocheir sinhensis was constructed via intramuscular injection with the pathogenic yeast Metschnikowia bicuspidata. The dynamic pathological changes of E. sinensis after injection were elucidated with two staining methods (haemotoxylin-eosin and alcian blue periodic acid-Schiff) and fluorescence in situ hybridization technology. Anatomical observation revealed three stages of the "milky disease": no clinical signs (1-4 days after infection), the appearance of signs of disease (5-7 days), and significant liquefaction (10 days). Histological observation also revealed three stages of the disease: yeast diffusion (1-2 days after infection), yeast slow development (3-4 days), and yeast rapid proliferation (5 days). And FISH technique was suitable for the early detection of infection with M. bicuspidata in E. sinensis. We found that M. bicuspidata spread to the whole body of the crab through the haemolymph and developed into fungal septicaemia. These results elucidate the systemic pathological characteristics of "milky disease" in E. sinensis and suggest the pathogenic mechanism of M. bicuspidata.

Food-grade biopolymer-based complexes are of particular interest in the field of biologic ingredient delivery owing to unique controlled-release properties. Herein, three calcium-loaded complexes using Antarctic krill protein (P) and pectin (HMP) with different blending sequences were designed, named P + Ca + HMP, P + HMP + Ca and HMP + Ca + P, respectively. The calcium-loaded capacity, structural properties, and in vitro gastrointestinal calcium release of the complexes were investigated. The results demonstrated that the calcium binding rate and content of the P + Ca + HMP complex were the highest, reaching to 90.3 % and 39.0 mg/g, respectively. Particularly, the P + Ca + HMP complex exhibited a more stable fruit tree-like structure. Furthermore, the structural analysis confirmed that the primary interaction forces involved hydrogen bond, electrostatic, hydrophobic and ionic bond interaction. Ultimately, the P + Ca + HMP complex demonstrated superior calcium delivery. In conclusion, a novel calcium delivery system was successfully developed based on optimized the self-assembly sequence, which held significant importance in promoting the high-value utilization of Antarctic krill protein and enhancing the in vitro bioaccessibility of calcium.

Canine mammary tumors (CMTs) are the most common type of tumor in female dogs. In this study, we obtained a metastatic key protein, Fascin-1, by comparing the proteomics data of in situ tumor and metastatic cell lines from the same individual. However, the role of Fascin-1 in the CMT cell line is still unclear. Firstly, proteomics was used to analyze the differential expression of Fascin-1 between the CMT cell lines CHMm and CHMp. Then, the overexpression (CHMm-OE and CHMp-OE) and knockdown (CHMm-KD and CHMp-KD) cell lines were established by lentivirus transduction. Finally, the differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) in CHMm and CHMm-OE cells were identified through proteomics. The results showed that the CHMm cells isolated from CMT abdominal metastases exhibited minimal expression of Fascin-1. The migration, adhesion, and invasion ability of CHMm-OE and CHMp-OE cells increased, while the migration, adhesion, and invasion ability of CHMm-KD and CHMp-KD cells decreased. The overexpression of Fascin-1 can upregulate the Tetraspanin 4 (TSPAN4) protein in CHMm cells and increase the number of migrations. In conclusion, re-expressed Fascin-1 could promote cell EMT and increase lamellipodia formation, resulting in the enhancement of CHMm cell migration, adhesion, and invasion in vitro. This may be beneficial to improve female dogs' prognosis of CMT.

BACKGROUND: Acinetobacter lwoffii (A. lwoffii) is a Gram-negative bacteria common in the environment, and it is the normal flora in human respiratory and digestive tracts. The bacteria is a zoonotic and opportunistic pathogen that causes various infections, including nosocomial infections. The aim of this study was to identify A. lwoffii strains isolated from bovine milk with subclinical mastitis in China and get a better understanding of its antimicrobial susceptibility and resistance profile. This is the first study to analyze the drug resistance spectrum and corresponding mechanisms of A. lwoffii isolated in raw milk. RESULTS: Four A. lwoffii strains were isolated by PCR method. Genetic evolution analysis using the neighbor-joining method showed that the four strains had a high homology with Acinetobacter lwoffii. The strains were resistant to several antibiotics and carried 17 drug-resistance genes across them. Specifically, among 23 antibiotics, the strains were completely susceptible to 6 antibiotics, including doxycycline, erythromycin, polymyxin, clindamycin, imipenem, and meropenem. In addition, the strains showed variable resistance patterns. A total of 17 resistance genes, including plasmid-mediated resistance genes, were detected across the four strains. These genes mediated resistance to 5 classes of antimicrobials, including beta-lactam, aminoglycosides, fluoroquinolones, tetracycline, sulfonamides, and chloramphenicol. CONCLUSION: These findings indicated that multi-drug resistant Acinetobacter lwoffii strains exist in raw milk of bovine with subclinical mastitis. Acinetobacter lwoffii are widespread in natural environmental samples, including water, soil, bathtub, soap box, skin, pharynx, conjunctiva, saliva, gastrointestinal tract, and vaginal secretions. The strains carry resistance genes in mobile genetic elements to enhance the spread of these genes. Therefore, more attention should be paid to epidemiological surveillance and drug resistant A. lwoffii.

As a key component of cell-cultured fish, fish skin gelatin (FSG)-based cell scaffold provides support structures for cell growth, proliferation, and differentiation. However, there are potential allergenicity risks contained in FSG-based scaffolds. In this study, 3D edible scaffolds were prepared by phase separation method and showed a contact angle of less than 90°, which indicated that the scaffolds were favorable for cell adhesion. Besides, the swelling ratio was greater than 200%, implying a great potential to support cell growth. The sequence homology analysis indicated that FSG was prone to cross-reaction with collagen analogues. Additionally, a food allergic model was constructed and represented that mice gavaged with cod FSG exhibited higher levels of specific antibodies, mast cell degranulation, vascular permeability, and intestinal barrier impairment than those gavaged with pangasius and tilapias FSG. Its higher allergenicity might be attributed to a higher number of digestion-resistant linear epitopes. Moreover, the higher hydrolysis degree linked to the exposure of linear epitopes to promote the combination with IgE, which was also responsible for maintaining the higher allergenicity of cod FSG. This study clarifies allergenic risks in cell-cultured fish and further study will focus on the allergenicity reduction of FSG-based cell scaffolds.

Our previous studies have revealed that L. acidophilus possesses inhibitory effects on PCV2 proliferation in vivo, although the underlying mechanisms remain elusive. Probiotics like L. acidophilus are known to exert antiviral through their metabolites. Therefore, in this study, non-targeted metabolomics was used to detect the changes in metabolites of L. acidophilus after 24 h of proliferation. Subsequently, high-throughput molecular docking was utilized to analyze the docking scores of these metabolites with PCV2 Cap and Rep, aiming to identify compounds with potential anti-PCV2 effects. The results demonstrated that 128 compounds such as Dl-lactate were significantly increased. The results of high-throughput molecular docking indicated that compounds such as ergocristine, and telmisartan formed complexes with Cap and Rep, suggesting their potential anti-PCV2 properties. Furthermore, compounds like vitamin C, exhibit pharmacological effects consistent with L. acidophilus adding credence to the idea that L. acidophilus may exert pharmacological effects through its metabolites. These results will provide a foundation for the study of L. acidophilus.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: The World Health Organization recently released a novel metric for healthy aging: intrinsic capacity (IC). The relationship between IC and the incidence of dementia, and its subtypes, is unknown. We aimed to analyze the relationship between IC and the incidence of dementia and its subtypes. Moreover, we tested whether genetic susceptibility to dementia could be modified by IC. METHODS: This cohort study involved 366,406 participants from the UK Biobank between 2006 and 2010. We analyzed 7 factors that reflected functional status across 4 IC domains to compute a comprehensive IC deficit score. Cox models were used to elucidate the relationship between the IC deficit score and the incidence of dementia. RESULTS: Among the 366,406 participants, 5,207 cases of dementia were documented, encompassing 2,186 and 1,175 cases of Alzheimer disease (AD) and vascular dementia (VD), respectively. Compared with participants with an IC score of 0, individuals with an IC score of 4+ had a markedly elevated risk of dementia (hazard ratio [HR] 2.17, 95% CI 1.92-2.45). In the joint analysis, for participants with a high polygenic risk score (PRS) and an IC score of 4 or more, the HR of all-cause dementia was 8.11 (95% CI 6.28-10.47) compared with individuals with a low PRS and an IC score of 0. Similar results were seen in the AD and VD groups. DISCUSSION: In summary, IC is associated with a higher risk of dementia, particularly in those combined with genetically predisposed to dementia.

Background: The antioxidant enzyme GPX3 is a selenoprotein that transports selenium in blood and maintains its levels in peripheral tissues. Aberrant GPX3 expression is strongly linked to the development of some tumors. However, there is a scarcity of studies examining the pan-cancer expression patterns and prognostic relevance of GPX3. Methods: GPX3 expression levels in normal tissues and multiple tumors were analyzed using TCGA, CCLE, GTEx, UALCAN and HPA databases. Forest plots and KM survival curves were utilized to evaluate the correlation between GPX3 expression and the outcome of tumor patients. The prognostic value of GPX3 in LGG was assessed utilizing the CGGA datasets, and that in STAD was tested by TCGA and GEO databases. A nomogram was then constructed to predict OS in STAD using R software. Additionally, the impact of GPX3 on post-chemoradiotherapy OS in patients with LGG and STAD was evaluated using the KM method. The multiplicative interaction of GPX3 expression, chemotherapy and radiotherapy on STAD and LGG was analyzed using logistic regression models. The correlation of GPX3 with the immune infiltration, immune neoantigens and MMR genes were investigated in TCGA cohort. Results: GPX3 exhibited downregulation across 21 tumor types, including STAD, with its decreased expression significantly associated with improved OS, DFS, PFS and DSS. Conversely, in LGG, low levels of GPX3 expression were indicative of a poorer prognosis. Univariate and multivariate Cox models further identified GPX3 as an independent predictor of STAD, and a nomogram based on GPX3 expression and other independent factors showed high level of predictive accuracy. Moreover, low GPX3 expression and chemotherapy prolonged the survival of STAD. In LGG patients, chemoradiotherapy, GPX3 and chemotherapy, and GPX3 and chemoradiotherapy may improve prognosis. Our observations reveal a notable connection between GPX3 and immune infiltration, immune neoantigens, and MMR genes. Conclusions: The variations in GPX3 expression are linked to the controlling tumor development and could act as a promising biomarker that impacts the prognosis of specific cancers like STAD and LGG.

Objective: This study aimed to explore the experiences and challenges of prostate cancer patients suffering from urinary incontinence following radical prostatectomy. Methods: A descriptive qualitative research design was employed. Purposeful sampling was used to select 22 prostate cancer patients who underwent radical prostatectomy and experienced urinary incontinence after surgery. These patients were interviewed between August to October 2023 at a tertiary B-grade hospital's pelvic floor center in Shanghai. The data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews and analyzed using content analysis to identify and refine themes. Results: The experiences of urinary incontinence in patients can be categorized into four main themes: (1) Daily life disturbances (including 4 sub-themes: sleep disorders, fluid intake restriction, travel inconvenience, loss of sexual life); (2) Negative emotional experiences (including 4 sub-themes: perceived discrimination, concerns about recovery, loss of confidence in life, doubts about the surgical decision); (3) Social withdrawal (including 2 sub-themes: reduced desire for social interaction, decreased ability to socialize); (4) Limited support obtained (including 4 sub-themes: reliance on personal experience, seeking help from relatives and friends, difficulty discerning online information, lack of professional guidance). Conclusion: Postoperative urinary incontinence in prostate cancer patients presents a multidimensional experience. Healthcare professionals need to pay attention to these patients' daily life, psychological state, and social interactions. Integrating various resources to provide professional support and rehabilitation guidance is crucial.

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs-exacerbated respiratory disease (N-ERD) is a chronic respiratory disease characterized by eosinophilic inflammation, featuring chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS), asthma, and intolerance to cyclooxygenase 1 (COX-1) inhibitors. The use of these medications can lead to an acute worsening of rhinitis and asthma symptoms. This condition has not yet received sufficient attention in China, with a high rate of misdiagnosis and a lack of related research. The Chinese Rhinology Research Group convened a group of leading young experts in otolaryngology from across the country, based on the latest domestic and international evidence-based medical practices to formulate this consensus.The consensus covers the epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, diagnostic methods, and treatment strategies for N-ERD, including pharmacotherapy, surgery, biologic treatments, and desensitization therapy. The goal is to improve recognition of N-ERD, reduce misdiagnosis, and enhance treatment outcomes.

Cultured meat, which involves growing meat in a laboratory rather than breeding animals, offers potential benefits in terms of sustainability, health, and animal welfare compared to conventional meat production. However, the cultured meat production process involves several stages, each with potential hazards requiring careful monitoring and control. Microbial contamination risks exist in the initial cell collection from source animals and the surrounding environment. During cell proliferation, hazards may include chemical residues from media components such as antibiotics and growth factors, as well as microbial issues from improper bioreactor sterilization. In the differentiation stage where cells become muscle tissue, potential hazards include residues from scaffolding materials, microcarriers, and media components. Final maturation and harvesting stages risk environmental contamination from nonsterile conditions, equipment, or worker handling if proper aseptic conditions are not maintained. This review examines the key microbiological and chemical hazards that must be monitored and controlled during the manufacturing process for cultured meats. It describes some conventional and emerging novel techniques that could be applied for the detection of microbial and chemical hazards in cultured meat. The review also outlines the current evolving regulatory landscape around cultured meat and explains how thorough detection and characterization of microbiological and chemical hazards through advanced analytical techniques can provide crucial data to help develop robust, evidence-based food safety regulations specifically tailored for the cultured meat industry. The main varieties of Echinopsis Radix recorded in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia are the roots of Echinops latifolius Tausch or Echinops grijsii Hance. However, the chemical constituents and biological activities of this herb have not been reviewed. In order to clarify the chemical constituents of the main varieties of this herb and improve the quality of Chinese medicinal material resources, this paper systematically reviewed their chemical constituents and related biological activities. Phytochemical investigations reveal eighty-five compounds including fort y-nine thiophenes (1-49), eight flavonoids (50-57), seven caffeic acids and its derivatives (58-64), eight sesquiterpenoids (65-72), and thirteen triterpenoids and other compounds (73-85) were reported from Echinopsis Radix. The review of biological activities suggests that thiophenes are the main secondary metabolites of the medicinal material which exert antitumor, insecticidal and antifungal activities. In addition, caffeic acid and its derivatives and sesquiterpenes are potential active ingredients worthy of further study. This review provides an important scientific basis for the development of active ingredients and resource quality evaluation of Echinopsis Radix.

The organization of modifiable and functional building components into various superstructures is of great interest due to their broad applications. Supramolecular self-assembly, based on rationally designed building blocks and appropriately utilized driving forces, is a promising and widely used strategy for constructing superstructures with well-defined nanostructures and diverse morphologies across multiple length scales. In this study, two homogeneous organohydrogels with distinct appearances were constructed by simply mixing polyoxometalate (phosphomolybdic acid, HPMo) and a double-tailed zwitterionic quaternary ammonium amphiphile in a binary solvent of water and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). The delicate balance between electrostatic attraction and repulsion of anionic HPMo clusters and zwitterionic structures drove them to co-assemble into homogeneous organohydrogels with diverse microstructures. Notably, the morphologies of the organohydrogels, including unilamellar vesicles, onion-like vesicles, and spherical aggregates, can be controlled by adjusting the ionic interactions between the zwitterionic amphiphiles and phosphomolybdic acid clusters. Furthermore, we observed an organohydrogel fabricated with densely stacked onion-like structures (multilamellar vesicles) consisting of more than a dozen layers at certain proportions. Additionally, the relationships between the self-assembled architectures and the intermolecular interactions among the polyoxometalate, zwitterionic amphiphile, and solvent molecules were elucidated. This study offers valuable insights into the mechanisms of polyoxometalate-zwitterionic amphiphile co-assembly, which are essential for the development of materials with specific structures and emerging functionalities.

The worldwide spread of the metallo-ß-lactamases (MBL), especially New Delhi metallo-ß-lactamase-1 (NDM-1), is threatening the efficacy of ß-lactams, which are the most potent and prescribed class of antibiotics in the clinic. Currently, FDA-approved MBL inhibitors are lacking in the clinic even though many strategies have been used in inhibitor development, including quantitative high-throughput screening (qHTS), fragment-based drug discovery (FBDD), and molecular docking. Herein, a machine learning-based prediction tool is described, which was generated using results from HTS of a large chemical library and previously published inhibition data. The prediction tool was then used for virtual screening of the NIH Genesis library, which was subsequently screened using qHTS. A novel MBL inhibitor was identified and shown to lower minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) of Meropenem for a panel of E. coli and K. pneumoniae clinical isolates expressing NDM-1. The mechanism of inhibition of this novel scaffold was probed utilizing equilibrium dialyses with metal analyses, native state electrospray ionization mass spectrometry, UV-vis spectrophotometry, and molecular docking. The uncovered inhibitor, compound 72922413, was shown to be 9-hydroxy-3-[(5-hydroxy-1-oxa-9-azaspiro[5.5]undec-9-yl)carbonyl]-4H-pyrido[1,2-a]pyrimidin-4-one.

BACKGROUND: Contemporary environmental health investigations have identified green space as an emerging factor with promising prospects for bolstering human well-being. The incidence of delirium increases significantly with age and is fatal. To date, there is no research elucidating the enduring implications of green spaces on the occurrence of delirium. Therefore, we explored the relationship between residential greenness and the incidence of delirium in a large community sample from the UK Biobank. METHODS: Enrollment of participants spanned from 2006 to 2010. Assessment of residential greenness involved the land coverage percentage of green space within a buffer range of 300 m and 1000 m. The relationship between residential greenness and delirium was assessed using the Cox proportional hazards model. Further, we investigated the potential mediating effects of physical activity, particulate matter (PM) with diameters ≤2.5 (PM2.5), and nitrogen oxides (NOx). RESULTS: Of 232,678 participants, 3722 participants were diagnosed with delirium during a 13.4-year follow-up period. Compared with participants with green space coverage at a 300 m buffer in the lowest quartile (Q1), those in the highest quartile (Q4) had 15 % (Hazard ratio [HR] = 0.85, 95 % confidence interval [CI]: 0.77, 0.94) lower risk of incident delirium. As for the 1000 m buffer, those in Q4 had a 16 % (HR = 0.84, 95 % CI: 0.76, 0.93) lower risk of incident delirium. The relationship between green space in the 300 m buffer and delirium was mediated partially by physical activity (2.07 %) and PM2.5(49.90 %). Comparable findings were noted for the green space percentage within the 1000 m buffer. CONCLUSIONS: Our results revealed that long-term exposure to residential greenness was related to a lower risk of delirium. Air pollution and physical activity exerted a significant mediating influence in shaping this association.

Background: Stripe rust, caused by the fungus Puccinia striiformis f.sp. tritici (Pst), poses a significant threat to global wheat production. Objectives: This study aims to analyze the distribution of stripe rust resistance genes, characterize resistance phenotypes at the seedling stage of 137 spring and 149 winter wheat varieties in Xinjiang, China, and discern differences in resistance between spring and winter wheat varieties. Design: We used various Pst races (CYR23, CYR29, CYR31, CYR32, CYR33, CYR34) to characterize seedling resistance of spring and winter wheat varieties and to correlate resistance to the presence of wheat resistance genes (Yr5, Yr9, Yr10, Yr15, Yr17, Yr18, Yr26, Yr41, Yr80, Yr81) using molecular markers. Results: Among spring wheat varieties, 62, 60, 42, 26, 51, and 24 varieties exhibited resistance to CYR23, CYR29, CYR31, CYR32, CYR33, and CYR34, respectively, with four varieties resistant to all varieties. Among winter wheat varieties, 66, 32, 69, 26, 83, 40 varieties demonstrated resistance to CYR23, CYR29, CYR31, CYR32, CYR33, and CYR34, respectively, with four varieties resistant to all varieties. Molecular testing revealed that, in spring wheat, 2, 17, 21, 61, 10, 0, 10, 79, and 32 varieties carried Yr9, Yr10, Yr15, Yr17, Yr18, Yr26, Yr41, Yr80, and Yr81 genes, respectively. In winter wheat, 40, 20, 7, 143, 15, 1, 6, 38, and 54 varieties carried Yr9, Yr10, Yr15, Yr17, Yr18, Yr26, Yr41, Yr80, and Yr81 genes, respectively. Notably, winter wheat exhibited a significantly higher resistance frequency than spring wheat, particularly in the incidence of Yr9, Yr10, Yr17, Yr18, and multi-gene combinations. Conclusion: In summary, this study provides information on seedling stage resistance to stripe rust 286 Xinjiang wheat varieties, elucidates the distribution of resistance genes in this population, and offers a mechanistic basis for breeding durable resistance in wheat. varieties from Xinjiang.
