RÉSUMÉ

An efficient dearomative cyclization of 2-nitrobenzofurans via a thiol-triggered tandem Michael addition/intramolecular Henry reaction has been developed. A range of thiochromeno[3,2-b]benzofuran-11-ols and tetrahydrothieno[3,2-b]benzofuran-3-ols could be obtained in up to 99% yield and up to >20:1 dr. The valuable thiochromone fused benzofurans could be prepared with the reaction of 2-nitrobenzofurans and 2-mercaptobenzaldehyde via the tandem dearomative Michael addition/intramolecular Henry reaction/rearomatization/oxidative dehydrogenation process in a one-pot two-step operation. A mechanism for the reaction was tentatively proposed.

RÉSUMÉ

BACKGROUND: A digital workflow for implant-supported fixed complete prostheses (ISFCP) using photogrammetry (PG), virtual articulator (VA), and virtual facebow (VF) data remains a challenge. METHODS: The novel ISFCP technique included four steps: (1) formation of a dynamic virtual patient, (2) integration of PG data, (3) fabrication of a diagnostic ISFCP, and (4) fabrication of a definitive ISFCP and test of the deviation. RESULTS: Dynamic virtual patients were formed by integrating PG, VA, and VF data. The cumulative root mean square deviation between the designed data and actual definitive prosthesis was 140.4 µm. CONCLUSIONS: The novel technique for ISFCP fabrication described in this paper can help optimise the clinical efficiency and quality of ISFCP but requires an initial learning curve. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE: This technique provides a direct workflow, using PG, VA, and VF data, to fabricate ISFCP based on the provisional restoration.

RÉSUMÉ

Platelets are known to play a critical role in thrombosis and hemostasis. However, recent studies demonstrated that beyond their role in thrombosis and hemostasis, platelets are also involved in the regulation of tissue repair and regeneration. Increasing number of studies on the roles of platelets in tissue repair showed that various growth factors, chemokines as well as cytokines secreted from activated platelets regulate injured tissue repair and regeneration with the main mechanisms being through regulation of cell migration, proliferation, and angiogenesis, cell apoptosis and survival. Deeply understanding the molecular mechanism of tissue repair induced by platelets might promote their application in clinic. This review discusses the structure and function of platelets, the mechanism of platelet-induced tissue repair as well as clinical application of platelets.

RÉSUMÉ

In recent years, acute outbreaks of epizootic diarrhea have occurred on many swine farms in China. Although the putative causative virus of the disease was not isolated, the genomic sequence of porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) was consistently detected from feces of diseased pigs by reverse transcription-PCR (RT-PCR). Here we report a complete genome sequence of PEDV which is apparently different from those of early PEDV circulated in Chinese swine herds.
