Objective: Antisocial behavior and antisocial personality disorder (ASPD) cause serious harm to society and families. Ethnicity may have an impact on an individual's antisocial behavior and the incidence of ASPD. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the current status of antisocial behavior and ASPD among youth and its correlation with ethnicity in ethnic minority areas in China. Methods: A total of 2475 Chinese youth (1794 under 18 and 681 greater than or equal to 18) were recruited from December 1 to 30, 2021, in Yunnan, China. All participants completed a General Information Questionnaire and the Personality Diagnostic Questionnaire Fourth Edition Plus (PDQ-4+). Associations between antisocial behavior and ASPD and sociodemographic factors such as ethnicity were examined using binary logistic regression analysis. Results: The positive rate of antisocial behavior screening in youth was 5.4% (95% CI (confidence interval): 4.3-6.4), with a positive rate of ASPD screening of 4.4% (95% CI: 2.9-6.0). Male, single-child and maternal education level at senior high school and above were risk factors for positive antisocial behavior screening, while senior high school grade and medium subjective family economic status were protective factors for positive antisocial behavior screening. Being male and paternal educational background were risk factors for positive ASPD screening. Conclusion: This study found high rates of positive screening for antisocial behavior and ASPD in youth and no significant differences in ethnicity. These results can be used to inform personality development.

The metabolomic profile of aging is complex. Here, we analyse 325 nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) biomarkers from 250,341 UK Biobank participants, identifying 54 representative aging-related biomarkers associated with all-cause mortality. We conduct genome-wide association studies (GWAS) for these 325 biomarkers using whole-genome sequencing (WGS) data from 95,372 individuals and perform multivariable Mendelian randomization (MVMR) analyses, discovering 439 candidate "biomarker - disease" causal pairs at the nominal significance level. We develop a metabolomic aging score that outperforms other aging metrics in predicting short-term mortality risk and exhibits strong potential for discriminating aging-accelerated populations and improving disease risk prediction. A longitudinal analysis of 13,263 individuals enables us to calculate a metabolomic aging rate which provides more refined aging assessments and to identify candidate anti-aging and pro-aging NMR biomarkers. Taken together, our study has presented a comprehensive aging-related metabolomic profile and highlighted its potential for personalized aging monitoring and early disease intervention.

OBJECTIVES: We aimed to assess the sleep quality of patients with primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS) and the associated factors. Moreover, Preliminary exploration of the clinical significance of serum brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in pSS patients with sleep disorders. METHODS: A self-report survey was administered to 111 pSS patients and 40 healthy individuals using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) for sleep quality. General clinical information,the sleep quality and mental conditions were collected using on-site questionnaires and various scales. 40 healthy controls from the health examination center of the same hospital, who were age and sex matched. Detection of serum BDNF levels by ELISA method . Independent samples t tests, Chi-square analysis, logistic regression were used to analyze these data. RESULTS: Patients with pSS had higher scores on the PSQI than the healthy individuals. Abnormal sweating, high PHQ-9 and ESSPRI scores were independent risk factors for sleep disorders. pSS patients had lower serum BDNF than the healthy individuals, The area under the curve (AUC) of predicting sleep disorder in pSS patients using detection of serum BDNF level was 0.8470, and the sensitivity and specificity were 0.951 and 0.727, which were superior to PHQ-9 and GAD-7. CONCLUSION: Compared with the healthy individuals, pSS patients had a higher prevalence of sleep disorders and lower serum BNDF. Serum BDNF level demonstrated greater predictive advantage for sleep disorder in pSS patients.

Amyloidosis is a rare disease. This paper reports a case of localized secondary hypopharyngeal amyloidosis presenting with pulmonary tuberculosis as the initial symptom. The patient lacked specific clinical manifestations and primarily exhibited symptoms such as cough, sputum production, acid reflux, belching, and abdominal pain. Chest CT indicated bronchiectasis with infection and pulmonary tuberculosis. Digestive endoscopy revealed a white mucosal elevation at the right pyriform sinus of the hypopharynx. Pathological diagnosis confirmed amyloid deposits in the hypopharyngeal mucosal tissue. The patient tested positive for anti-amyloid A antibodies, Congo red staining (+), and periodate Schiff staining (+). Amyloidosis commonly affects the digestive system and may have various etiologies, often presenting with symptoms that overlap with other digestive system diseases, leading to frequent misdiagnosis and missed optimal treatment opportunities. The hypopharynx, a highly folded and narrow chamber that serves as a common passage for the digestive and respiratory tracts, can be effectively evaluated for amyloidosis using digestive endoscopy.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the optimal endometrial preparation protocol for frozen-thawed embryo transfer (FET) following hysteroscopic polypectomy. METHODS: This was a retrospective clinical cohort study involving 464 patients who underwent their first FET after polyp resection between January 2021 and July 2023. The cohorts were categorized into three groups: the natural cycle (NC) group (n = 139), the ovarian induction (OI) group (n = 117), and the hormone replacement therapy (HRT) group (n = 208). RESULTS: In the initial unadjusted analysis, both NC and OI cycles exhibited similar pregnancy rates but were associated with significantly higher implantation rate (56.5%, 57.1% vs 42.0%, P < 0.001), clinical pregnancy rate (73.4%, 74.4% vs 57.2%, P = 0.001), and ongoing pregnancy rate (OPR; 67.6%, 63.2% vs 51.0%, P = 0.005) compared to the HRT group. Additionally, the three groups demonstrated comparable abortion rate (7.8%, 14.9% vs 10.9%, P = 0.299). After adjusting for potential confounders in the multiple logistic regression model, the HRT protocol resulted in a 54% significantly lower OPR compared to the NC protocol (adjusted odds ratio [aOR] = 0.46, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.28-0.77; P = 0.003). Meanwhile, the OPR difference between the OI protocol and the NC protocol remained insignificant (OI vs NC: aOR = 0.62, 95% CI: 0.35-1.12; P = 0.112). CONCLUSION: The ovulatory-FET scheme (NC and OI) following hysteroscopic polyp resection displayed promising clinical outcomes compared with HRT-FET scheme. The regimen without exogenous estrogen administration should be prioritized for endometrial preparation protocol after polypectomy.

This study aims to investigate the mechanism of Huangqin Qingre Chubi Capsules(HQC) in delaying chondrocyte senescence of osteoarthritic(OA) rats by regulating the p53/p21 signaling pathway. Rheumatic fever paralysis models of OA rats were induced based on monosodiun iodoacetate(MIA) combined with external rheumatic fever environmental stimuli and divided into normal(Con) group, OA model(MIA) group, OA model+rheumatic fever stimulation model(MIA-M) group, MIA-M+HQC low-dose(MIA-M+HQC-L) group, medium-dose(MIA-M+HQC-M) group, and high-dose(MIA-M+HQC-H) group, and MIA-M+glucosamine(MIA-M+GS) group. The models were successfully prepared and administered by gavage for 30 d. The pathological changes of cartilage were observed by hematoxylin-eosin(HE) and Senna O solid green(SO) staining. The expression of interleukin(IL)-1ß and IL-6 was detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA). Flow cytometry(FCM) was used to detect apoptosis and cell cycle. The mRNA expression of MMP13, ADAMTS-5, COLⅡ, and TGF-ß was detected by RT-qPCR. The protein expression of p53/p21, p16, Bax, and Bcl-2 was detected by Western blot. The articular cartilage surface of rats in the Con group was smooth, and the tide line was smooth. The cartilage layer of MIA and MIA-M groups was obviously damaged, and the cartilage matrix was reduced. The above conditions were more severe in the MIA-M group. The cartilage surface of the HQC high-dose group and MIA-M+GS group was basically intact with clear delamination. Compared with the MIA-M+HQC-H group, Mankin's score was higher in the HQC low-dose and medium-dose groups, and the change was not obvious in the MIA-M+GS group. Compared with the Con group, the proportion of chondrocytes G_1 was elevated in the MIA and MIA-M groups, and the proportion of the S phase and G_2 phase was significantly decreased. In addition, the apoptosis rate was increased. Compared with MIA-M, HQC groups inhibited apoptosis and promoted cell proliferation in a concentration-dependent manner. Compared with the MIA-M+HQC-H group, the effect was more significant in the HQC high-dose group than in the HQC medium-low dose, while it was not significant in the MIA-M+GS group. Compared with the Con group, IL-1ß and IL-6 were elevated in the MIA and MIA-M groups, and mRNA levels of MMP13 and ADAMTS-5 were elevated. p53, p21, p16, and Bax protein were elevated, and mRNA levels of COLⅡ and TGF-ß were decreased. Compared with the MIA-M group, IL-1ß and IL-6 decreased after drug interventions of HQC and GS, and mRNA levels of MMP13 and ADAMTS-5, as well as protein levels of p53, p21, Bax, and p16 decreased. In addition, Bcl-2 increased. The improvement of these indexes was significantly better in the MIA-M+HQC-H group than in the HQC low-dose and medium-dose groups, and the difference with the MIA-M+GS group was not significant. HQC delayed MIA-induced chondrocyte senescence in OA rats, inhibited inflammatory response and extracellular matrix(ECM) degradation, and its mechanism may be related to the inhibition of the p53/p21 pathway.

Desmoplastic small round cell tumour (DSRCT) is a highly aggressive soft-tissue sarcoma with distinctive morphological features and characteristic EWSR1::WT1 gene fusion. DSRCT occurs in a variety of anatomic sites, with abdominal cavity being the most common location. Primary DSRCTs arising in the male genital system are exceedingly rare, with no documented definitive cases of primary DSRCT of the prostate to date, although 28 cases of DSRCT in the testicular or paratesticular regions have been reported. We here present two cases of primary DSRCT of the prostate. Both cases demonstrated the distinct morphology and the typical multiphenotypic immunohistochemical profile, and the characteristic EWSR1::WT1 fusion verified by fluorescent in situ hybridisation. Our cases expand the anatomic distribution of primary DSRCT and highlight the importance of considering this rare tumour in the differential diagnoses of small cell malignancies of the prostate.

Pineapple is a globally significant tropical fruit, but its cultivation faces numerous challenges due to abiotic and biotic stresses, affecting its quality and quantity. WRKY transcription factors are known regulators of stress responses, however, their specific functions in pineapple are not fully understood. This study investigates the role of AcWRKY31 by overexpressing it in pineapple and Arabidopsis. Transgenic pineapple lines were obtained using Agrobacterium-mediated transformation methods and abiotic and biotic stress treatments. Transgenic AcWRKY31-OE pineapple plants showed an increased sensitivity to salt and drought stress and an increased resistance to biotic stress from pineapple mealybugs compared to that of WT plants. Similar experiments in AcWRKY31-OE, AtWRKY53-OE, and the Arabidopsis Atwrky53 mutant were performed and consistently confirmed these findings. A comparative transcriptomic analysis revealed 5357 upregulated genes in AcWRKY31-OE pineapple, with 30 genes related to disease and pathogen response. Notably, 18 of these genes contained a W-box sequence in their promoter region. A KEGG analysis of RNA-Seq data showed that upregulated DEG genes are mostly involved in translation, protein kinases, peptidases and inhibitors, membrane trafficking, folding, sorting, and degradation, while the downregulated genes are involved in metabolism, protein families, signaling, and cellular processes. RT-qPCR assays of selected genes confirmed the transcriptomic results. In summary, the AcWRKY31 gene is promising for the improvement of stress responses in pineapple, and it could be a valuable tool for plant breeders to develop stress-tolerant crops in the future.

Major Depression Disorder (MDD), a complex mental health disorder, poses significant challenges in accurate diagnosis. In addressing the issue of gradient vanishing in the classification of MDD using current data-driven electroencephalogram (EEG) data, this study introduces a TanhReLU-based Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). By integrating the TanhReLU activation function, which combines the characteristics of the hyperbolic tangent (Tanh) and rectified linear unit (ReLU) activations, the model aims to improve performance in identifying patterns associated with MDD while alleviating the issue of model overfitting and gradient vanishing. Experimental results demonstrate promising outcomes in the task of MDD classification upon the publicly available EEG data, suggesting potential clinical applications.

Copper (Cu) is a necessary mineral nutrient for plant growth and development and is involved in several morphological, physiological, and biochemical processes; however, high concentrations of Cu can negatively impact these processes. The role of stomata in responding to various biotic and abiotic stimuli has not been studied in Bruguiera gymnorhiza, particularly in terms of their coordinated interactions at the molecular, physiological, and biochemical levels. Moreover, numerous plants employ strategies such as the presence of thick waxy cuticles on their leaf epidermis and the closing of stomata to reduce water loss. Thus, this study investigates the accumulation of Cu in B. gymnorhiza and its effect on leaf morphology and the molecular response under different Cu treatments (0, 200, and 400 mg L⁻¹, Cu0, Cu200, and Cu400, respectively) during a two years stress period. The results show that Cu stress affected accumulation and transport, increased the activities of peroxidase and ascorbate peroxidase, concentrations of soluble sugar, proline, and H2O2, and decreased the activity of catalase and content of malondialdehyde. Also, Cu-induced stress decreased the uptake of phosphorus and nitrogen and inhibited plant photosynthesis, which consequently led to reduced plant growth. Scanning electron microscopy combined with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry showed that B. gymnorhiza leaves had higher wax crystals and compositions under increased Cu stress, which forced the leaf's stomata to be closed. Also, the contents of alkanes, alcohols, primary alcohol levels (C26:0, C28:0, C30:0, and C32:0), n-Alkanes (C29 and C30), and other wax loads were significantly higher, while fatty acid (C12, C16, and C18) was lower in Cu200 and Cu400 compared to Cu0. Furthermore, the transcriptomic analyses revealed 1240 (771 up- and 469 downregulated), 1000 (723 up- and 277 down-regulated), and 1476 (808 up- and 668 downregulated) differentially expressed genes in Cu0 vs Cu200, Cu0 vs Cu400, and Cu200 vs Cu400, respectively. RNA-seq analyses showed that Cu mainly affected eight pathways, including photosynthesis, cutin, suberin, and wax biosynthesis. This study provides a reference for understanding mangrove response to heavy metal stress and developing novel management practices.
