RÉSUMÉ

The study presents the successful development of a new electrochemical sensor with low cost and disposability for application in nitrofurazone detection in environmental and pharmaceutical samples. The sensors were fabricated using materials obtained from local storage and conductive carbon ink. The modification of the screen-printed electrodes with the hybrid nanomaterial based on silver nanoparticles, carbon quantum dots, and carbon nanotubes showed synergistic contributions in the nitrofurazone electrooxidation, as observed in the wide linear range (0.008 at 15.051 µM), with a sensitivity of 0.650 µA/µM. The limit of detection obtained was 4.6 nM. Differential pulse voltammetry, cyclic voltammetry, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction analysis, and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy were used to evaluate the electrochemical and structural characteristics. Studies of possible interferences were considered with nitrofurazone in the presence of the ions and organic molecules. The results were satisfactory, with a variation of 93.3% ± 4.39% at 100% ± 2.40%. The low volume used in the analyses (50 µL), disposability, high sensibility, selectivity, and low limit of detection are advantages that make the proposed sensor an electrochemical tool of high viability for the NFZ detection in environmental matrices and pharmaceutical formulations.

RÉSUMÉ

BACKGROUND: Approximately, 5-7 million people are infected with T. cruzi in the world, and approximately 10,000 people per year die of complications linked to this disease. METHODS: This work describes the construction of a new family of hidrazonoyl substituted derivatives, structurally designed exploring the molecular hybridization between megazol and nitrofurazone. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: The compounds were evaluated for their in vitro activity against bloodstream trypomastigotes of Trypanosoma cruzi, etiological agent of Chagas disease, and for their potential toxicity to mammalian cells. CONCLUSION: Among these hydrazonoyl derivatives, we identified the derivative (4) that showed trypanocidal activity (IC50/24 h = 15.0 µM) similar to Bz, the standard drug, and low toxicity to mammalian cells, reaching an SI value of 18.7.

RÉSUMÉ

PURPOSE:Toevaluate the effects of nitrofurazone on the correction of abdominal wall defect treated with polypropylene mesh involved by fibrous tissue in rats.METHODS: A defect in the abdominal wall was created and corrected with polypropylene mesh in 20 rats. They were randomly distributed into four groups: control, fibrous mesh, nitrofurazone and nitrofurazone dip in the mesh. Euthanasia was performed in 21 post-operative days. The healing process was analyzed regarding the meshes and macroscopic and microscopic aspects.RESULTS:All animals had adhesions. However, no statistically significant difference (p>0.05) when compared between groups. Similarly microscopic analysis, in which there was no statistical significance level for the evaluated parameters such as mono and polymorphonuclear lymphocytes, granuloma, fibrosis, necrosis and collagen proliferation.CONCLUSION:There was no significant effect on the abdominal wall defect repair with polypropylene mesh surrounded by fibrous tissue when dipped in nitrofurazone 2%.

A 10-year-old female Dachshund dog that was been treated for lymphoma presented wound with muscular necrosis on left leg. Topic nitrofurazone and sugar promoted regeneration in 30 days. Nitrofurazone and sugar proved to be effective in treating contaminated wound, accelerating wound healing process.

In the present study it was performed an histologic evaluation of the response of the pulp tissue of dogs teeth subdued to pulpotomy and treatment of the reminiscent pulp tissue with 3.5:6.5 and 2.5:7.5 CMPC associated to Furacin, with or without dressing. Upper second and third bicuspids and lower first, second and third bicuspids of 12 young adult dogs were used and distributed into 4 groups: GI - 3.5:6.5 CMPC - Furacin with dressing, GII - 2.5:7.5 CMPC - Furacin with dressing, GIII - 3.5:6.5 CMPC - Furacin without dressing and GIV - 2.5:7.5 CMPC - Furacin without dressing. After experimental periods of 7, 45 and 90 days, the subjects were sacrified and the histopathologic analysis was performed. According to the methodology used, we observed that in all groups the CMPC - Furacin solutions were irritative to the pulp connective tissue, showing tissue death, with fixation phenomena characterized by the loss of dye affinity. This finding was higher in the groups in which CMPC - Furacin dressing was used for 5 minutes (GI and GII), when compared to the groups without the dressings....
