Objetivo: Correlacionar la variable principal sostén del hogar con las variables género, edad, horas de trabajo, horas de sueño y factores de riesgo cardiovascular (índice de masa corporal, hipertensión arterial, dislipemia y diabetes mellitus), en estudiantes de 3º, 4 y 5º año de la Licenciatura en Enfermería, Universidad Nacional de Formosa. Metodología: estudio descriptivo, correlacional, transversal realizado en 214 estudiantes, durante el año 2022, utilizándose un cuestionario on-line autoadministrado, estructurado y medición de peso y talla. Resultados: el 76% fueron mujeres; 64%, principal fueron principal sostén del hogar, 57% refirió dormir menos de 6 horas al día, 15 % trabaja más de 41 horas semanales; 67% tuvo respuestas no saludables a la variable estrés, para la variable actividad física este valor ascendió a 71% y el 53,8% presentó exceso de peso. Se encontró asociación significativa entre ser el principal sostén del hogar con exceso de peso, trabajar 41 horas o más semanalmente, dormir menos de 6 horas al día y con la presencia de 3 o más factores de riesgo cardiovascular. Conclusiones: Las condiciones de vida que afrontan los estudiantes que de manera simultánea estudian, trabajan y son principal sostén del hogar pueden generar estrés, el cual es un factor de riesgo para las enfermedades cardiovasculares[AU]


Objetive: to correlate the main variable of primary income earner or primary breadwinner with gender, age, working hours, sleep hours, and cardiovascular disease risk factors (body mass index, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and diabetes mellitus) in 3rd, 4th, and 5th-year nursing students at the Nursing Program at the National University of Formosa. Methodology: The study was a descriptive, correlational, cross-sectional, conducted with 214 students during 2022 using a self-administered structured online questionnaire and measurement of weight and height. Results: 76% were women, 64% were the main breadwinner, 57% reported sleeping less than 6 hours a day, 15% working more than 41 hours per week; 67% had unhealthy responses to the stress variable, this value rose to 71% for the physical activity variable, and 53.8% were overweight. A significant association was found between the main variable of primary breadwinner and being overweight, working 41 or more hours weekly, and the presence of 3 or more cardiovascular risk factors. Conclusions: The living conditions faced by students who simultaneously study and work, and being the main breadwinner in the household can generate stress, which is a risk factor for cardiovascular diseases[AU]

Foi encontrada uma associação significativa entre a variável principal de sustento econômico do lar com as variáveis excesso de peso, trabalhar 41 horas ou mais por semana, dormir menos de 6 horas al día e a presença de 3 ou mais fatores de risco cardiovascular. Conclusões: As condições de vida enfrentadas pelos estudantes que simultaneamente estudam, trabalham e são o principal sustento do lar podem gerar estresse, que é um fator de risco para doenças cardiovasculares[AU]

Objectives. Work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) are recurrent in the footwear industry, resulting in absenteeism. This study aimed to quantitatively analyze the influence of overtime work and physical recovery time on the occurrence of WMSD-related absenteeism using a system dynamics model. As ergonomic methods have limitations in quantitatively simulating the behavior of these relationships, the integration of computational modeling techniques has emerged as a methodological alternative to bridge this gap. Methods. An ergonomic work analysis (EWA) was developed in a production cell of a large company. A model of causal relationships (causal loop diagram) and a simulation model (flow and stock diagram) were then developed, where three scenarios for overtime and physical recovery time were analyzed. Results. Working an additional hour resulted in a 42% increase in physical overload, leading to 7.62 leave requests per year and 78.7 days of employee absenteeism. Increasing the physical recovery time by 15 min reduced the overload to 36.5%, resulting in 6.8 leave requests per year and 71.1 days of employee absenteeism. Conclusions. Properly managing excess workload and providing adequate physical recovery for professionals is necessary to mitigate the productivity impacts of absenteeism in the footwear industry.

Purpose: Using an intersectionality framework, we compared stigma and HIV care and treatment outcomes across transgender and cisgender women sex workers living with HIV in the Dominican Republic (DR). Methods: In 2018-2019, data were collected in Santo Domingo, DR, using interviewer-administered surveys among 211 cisgender women and 100 transgender women. We used t-tests and chi-square tests to examine differences in sex work stigma, HIV stigma, and HIV care and treatment. Results: Transgender participants reported more anticipated HIV stigma (mean=13.61, standard deviation [SD]=2.39) than cisgender participants (mean=12.96, SD=2.21; p=0.018), but there were no statistically significant differences for internalized or enacted HIV stigma. Cisgender participants reported more anticipated sex work stigma (cisgender: mean=50.00, SD=9.22; transgender: mean=44.02, SD=9.54; p<0.001), but transgender women reported more enacted (cisgender: mean=49.99, SD=9.11; transgender: mean=59.93, SD=4.89; p<0.001) and internalized sex work stigma (cisgender: mean=50.00, SD=8.80; transgender: mean=57.84, SD=8.34; p<0.001), with no significant differences in resistance to sex work stigma. Cisgender women were significantly more likely to have received HIV care (cisgender: 99.53%, transgender: 91.00%, p<0.001), be currently taking antiretroviral therapy (cisgender: 96.21%, transgender: 84.00%, p<0.001), and be virally suppressed (cisgender: 76.19%, transgender: 64.00%, p=0.025). Conclusions: Transgender participants consistently had poorer HIV care and treatment outcomes compared with cisgender participants. Differences in stigma experiences between transgender and cisgender participants depended on the type of stigma. Findings reflect the intersectional nature of distinct types and forms of stigma among sex workers. Understanding the shared and unique experiences of transgender and cisgender women will improve HIV care engagement and viral suppression.

BACKGROUND: The dramatic reconfigurations of work-family roles and social boundaries resulting from the social restrictions imposed during the Covid-19 pandemic led working mums to look for online sites as spaces of emotional support and regulation where they could vent their emotions, share their concerns and griefs, and seek advice. They also became interactional spaces where mums' relevant identities were reassessed and enacted as they aimed to balance work-family roles and improve their wellbeing. The paper explores how working mums discursively negotiated their multiple identities in an online support forum during times of global struggle, how these identity constructions reflect the domains of Work-Family Conflict (WFC) and how working mums perceived these identities are related to their mental health. METHODS: 127 posts of Chilean working mums published in a public online support forum for working mums collected during the first half of 2020 were analysed in three phases. The first one involved a thematic analysis to identify themes and subthemes related to working mums' identity construction in the data. The second phase involved conducting a narrative analysis of working mums' microstorias in order to identify a master narrative crafted by these working mums, and contesting and conforming ideologies of motherhood, among others. Finally, the third phase involved a fine-grained discourse analysis of the most representative extracts illustrating working mums' identity negotiation. RESULTS: The sociolinguistic analysis showed that working mums' discourses displayed three themes of self-reflection, namely, diminishing self-care, reassessing their self, and enhancing self through self-care. Identity-related sub-themes for each main theme are discussed and discursively analysed. Two main points are emphasised: (1) the identity that was most salient in working mums' discourse was their personal identity (rather than work-family roles and identities), and (2) microstorias allowed working mums to challenge the hegemonic power of dominant discourses around their identities and their work-family roles. CONCLUSIONS: The study shows that a sociolinguistic approach to the exploration of working mums' identity negotiation is useful to highlight the ways in which mums contest binary assumptions of work-family roles and the need to reconsider working mums' life domains so that they reflect working mums' actual identity needs and lived experiences. Future lines of research are outlined.

Purpose: To present the social network analysis-based approach used to create a new workspace layout for three hospital services as part of a campus expansion at a large tertiary care public hospital. Objective: To analyze the relationships among service members across four healthcare resilience abilities (monitor, anticipate, respond, and learn) and utilize network metrics to indicate the suitability of a shared workspace layout for the services. Background: The hospital expanded by 70%, providing space for relocating key services-the rapid response team, medical on-call team, and nursing supervision. Initial observations suggested a shared workspace layout based on anecdotal evidence. Method: Stakeholders have reached a consensus on a three-stage process to assess the suitability of a shared workspace layout for these services: first, collecting data on social interactions with a focus on resilience abilities; second, presenting layout alternatives based on sociograms; and third, evaluating these alternatives and devising a strategy for allocating personnel to shifts based on a resilience score derived from social network metrics. Case Study: The examination of social network metrics allowed identifying key individuals contributing to the overall resilience of the three services. Sociograms provided visual representations of how these individuals were spatially distributed within the shared layout. Discussion: The process was designed to shape a resilient layout and incorporated initial data, preferences, and constraints into layout proposals. Additionally, it utilized a resilience score from existing literature to formulate a strategy for staff allocation to shifts, ensuring consistent collective resilience ability across all shifts.

This paper investigates the challenges faced by health professionals working with children with disabilities, with the aim of identifying areas for improvement. Employing a focus group method, the study involved knowledge levelling, discussions, problematization, cause formulation, and validation. A diverse team of ten professionals participated, including physiotherapists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, nursing technicians, and social workers. Findings reveal organisational inflexibility in appointment scheduling, lack of deadlines affecting case monitoring, and the mental strain of immediate clinical responses. Effective communication and multidisciplinary care emerge as beneficial. Proposed improvements include flexible space utilisation, enhanced room design, structured collaboration training, role clarification, parent partnerships, flexible scheduling, and continuous professional development. This study unveils unique challenges and rewards in the healthcare environment, offering insights into causative factors and practical strategies for enhancing the work of health professionals working with children with disabilities.


Health professionals working with children with disabilities encounter various challenges in their daily practice. This research identifies key areas for improvement, including enhancing collaboration among team members, optimising physical spaces, and providing ongoing training and support. By addressing these challenges and implementing the proposed improvement strategies, practitioners can better meet the complex needs of children with disabilities and improve overall patient care outcomes.

El estudio de la anatomía humana como asignatura básica tiene el desafío de promover el desarrollo de competencias genéricas en los estudiantes. Tal es el caso del trabajo colaborativo, trascendental en el trabajo en salud. Así, aparece aula invertida cuyo esquema desarrolla actividades de trabajo en equipo. Por ello, el objetivo de este trabajo es analizar el impacto de aula invertida sobre el trabajo colaborativo en la enseñanza de la anatomía. Estudio cuantitativo, transversal, no experimental que involucró la implementación de aula invertida en un curso de Terapia Ocupacional de 2023. A partir de 5 sesiones planificadas se desarrollaron trabajos en 6 grupos; incluyeron síntesis de contenido y casos clínicos. Al cerrar el semestre se determinó un promedio de calificaciones (PC), junto a una autoevaluación (AE) y coevaluación (CE) que midió trabajo colaborativo mediante 3 subcompetencias (SC1-SC3) (escala 1,0 a 7,0). Se aplicaron pruebas estadísticas para determinar diferencias entre de SC1-SC3 según AE y CE, por grupos y si existe relación con PC. La prueba de U de Mann Whitney no arrojó diferencias entre AE y CE. La prueba de Friedman no evidenció diferencias entre SC1-SC3. La prueba H de Kruskal-Wallis halló diferencias de las subcompetencias según grupos; SC1 podrían influir en el PC, SC2 registra diferencias en el grupo G1 y G5, y "gestión de conflictos" (SC3) no difiere de forma destacada entre los grupos. La correlación de Spearman presenta una asociación positiva débil entre las subcompetencias y PC, aunque el valor-p no fue significativo. Es sumamente necesario potenciar el trabajo colaborativo en el inicio del pregrado. Anatomía humana, en este contexto, tiene la oportunidad de promover su desarrollo. Ello puede generarse en el marco de aula invertida, cuyo esquema promueve actividades de trabajo colaborativo, y como es sabido, en el rendimiento académico.


SUMMARY: As a basic subject, the study of human anatomy challenges the development of generic skills in students. Such is the case of collaborative work which is transcendental in the areas of healthcare work. Consequently, an inverted classroom is developed wherein teamwork activities are developed. The objective of this work is to analyze the impact of the flipped classroom on collaborative work in teaching anatomy. A quantitative, cross-sectional, non-experimental study that involved the implementation of a flipped classroom in an Occupational Therapy course in 2023 was applied. From 5 planned sessions, work was developed in 6 groups; they included content synthesis and clinical cases. At the end of the semester, a grade average (GA) was determined, along with a self-assessment (SA) and co-assessment (CA) measuring collaborative work through 3 sub competences (SC1-SC3) (scale 1.0 to 7.0). Statistical tests were applied to determine differences between SC1-SC3 according to SA and CA, by groups and if there is a relationship with GA. The Mann Whitney U test did not show differences between SA and CA. The Friedman test did not show differences between SC1-SC3. The Kruskal-Wallis H test found differences in sub competences according to groups; SC1 could influence GA, SC2 records differences in group G1 and G5, and "conflict management" (SC3) does not differ significantly between the groups. The Spearman correlation presented a weak positive association between the sub competences and GA, although the p-value was not significant. It is extremely necessary to promote collaborative work at the beginning of the undergraduate degree. In this context, human anatomy is an opportunity to promote its development. This can be generated within the framework of the inverted classroom promoting collaborative work activities, and academic performance as well.

Long-haul truck drivers are responsible for transporting goods valued at millions of dollars of the world economy, and may have their health affected by living and working conditions. This study analyzed and synthesized scientific findings about risk factors for the development of chronic non-communicable diseases in long-haul truck drivers. An integrative literature review was conducted. We identified 23 studies that met the inclusion criteria and evaluated the health of 7363 drivers. The biological risk factors identified were age, gender, race/ethnicity, genetics, and comorbidities, and were considered to be non-modifiable for chronic diseases. The behavioral risks considered to be modifiable were sedentary lifestyle, smoking, alcohol consumption, overweight, diet, stress, anxiety, and unfavorable socioeconomic conditions. Environmental risks involved working conditions such as the following: number of working hours per day, week, and month; time away from home; risk of musculoskeletal injury; and opportunities for rest, hours of sleep, and access to health services. The results were presented in two categories: (1) biological, behavioral, and environmental risks, and (2) general recommendations to promote physical, cognitive, and emotional health. Macro-structural changes are needed to reorganize work and rest, improve access to health services to control modifiable risk factors, and to support behavioral and environmental changes to reduce chronic non-communicable diseases and deaths.

Occupational exposure to toxic elements can adversely affect health. The current study evaluated blood concentrations of potentially toxic elements (PTE) including As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Hg, Mn, Ni, Pb, Sb, Sn, and Zn in formal and informal workers. Additionally, the study investigated the associations between blood PTE concentrations and reported health outcomes in the study population. The exposed group included women engaged in informal jewelry welding within their homes in Limeira, São Paulo state, Brazil (n = 36) and men who worked at a steel company in Volta Redonda, Rio de Janeiro state, Brazil (n = 22). The control group comprised residents of the same neighborhoods as the workers but without occupational exposure to chemicals (n = 28 in Limeira; n = 27 in Volta Redonda). Triple Quadrupole Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (TQ ICP-MS) was used to determine PTE concentrations in blood samples. Glycemia, insulin, and lipid profile tests were performed. All participants completed questionnaires on household risk and reported morbidity. The blood concentrations of Cd, As, and Pb, as well as glycemia, were higher in informal workers than in control subjects. No significant differences were observed between formal workers and control subjects. A robust Poisson regression model, adjusted for variables suggested by a Directed Acyclic Graph, disclosed associations of blood lead and arsenic concentrations with the prevalence of neurological manifestations in Limeira. Blood lead levels > 2.6 µg dL-1 were associated with 2.3 times the prevalence of self-reported neurological manifestations (95 % CI: 1.17-4.58; p = 0.02) than lower blood lead concentrations. Furthermore, a positive association between blood cadmium concentrations and glycemia was observed. Informal occupational exposure to these elements may indicate an increased risk of developing diseases. Monitoring exposure and implementing interventions to reduce PTE exposure in the work environment represent significant steps toward prevention.

This document presents the ergonomic assessments carried out by Spanish surgeons on the materials used within an operating room. With the objective of disseminating and raising awareness of the importance of ergonomics, this working group has compiled information from a previously conducted survey on musculoskeletal disorders associated with surgical work from the year 2022, obtaining feedback from 131 surgeons from 17 distinct specialties. A noteworthy 80.2 % of surveyed surgeons reported having experienced forced postures during surgery, and 96.9 % believe that their physical discomfort is a result of the posture adopted during operations. Such postures can result in the development of pathologies and may have a direct impact on work performance and even in extreme cases, it can lead to sick leave or early retirement. By providing their insights on electronic devices, surgical furniture, and instrumentation, surgeons can help identify areas for improvement in the practice of their profession.

OBJECTIVE: Communication between patients and mental health professionals by means of messaging platforms in the interval between synchronous encounters became a kind of asynchronous teleconsultation (AT) whose usefulness and effect on providers' workload have not been explored. Method: Mental health providers working in Argentina were invited to answer a survey exploring the intensity and usefulness of AT, and the resulting overload. RESULTS: A total of 527 responses from professionals working throughout the country were received. As much as 69% of respondents exchanged messages with a mean of 1-10 patients/day and 31% with more than 10 patients/day; 75% answered messages over mobile phones on weekends. While 68% rated these interactions as positive for clinical follow-up, 47% considered them as a source of work overload. CONCLUSIONS: The generalized adoption of AT may require additional self-regulation by clinicians and regular monitoring of overload levels (particularly, among psychiatrists) to make their daily clinical practice efficient and sustainable.


OBJETIVOS: La comunicación entre pacientes y profesionales de la salud mental mediante plataformas de mensa- jería en el intervalo entre encuentros presenciales o virtuales se convirtió en una modalidad de teleconsulta asincrónica (TA) cuya utilidad y efecto en la carga de trabajo de los profesionales de salud mental no se han explorado. Método: Profesionales del campo de la salud mental que trabajan en Argentina fueron invitados a responder a una encuesta que exploraba la intensidad y utilidad de la TA, y la sobrecarga resultante. RESULTADOS: Se recibieron un total de 527 respuestas de profesionales que trabajan en todo el país. El 69 % de los encuestados mensajes con un promedio de 1-10 pacientes/día y el 31 % con más de 10 pacientes/día; el 75 % respondió mensajes por teléfono móvil los fines de semana. Mientras que el 68 % calificó estas interacciones como positivas para  el seguimiento clínico, el 47 % las consideró una fuente de sobrecarga laboral. CONCLUSIONES: La adopción generalizada de la TA puede requerir una autorregulación adicional por parte de los profesionales y un seguimiento regular de los niveles de sobrecarga (especialmente, entre los psiquiatras) para que su práctica clínica diaria sea eficiente y sostenible.

This work assessed the psychosocial risks of 124 workers from the plywood industry in Ecuador's Amazon region. Two psychosocial risk assessment (PRA) methods were selected due to their widespread use in Ecuadorian organisations: FPSICO from the Spanish National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health and the "Psychosocial Risk Assessment Questionnaire" (PRAQ) from the Ecuadorian Labour Ministry. Therefore, two surveys of 89 and 58 items were applied to evaluate nine scales and eight risk dimensions for FPSICO and PRAQ, respectively. Results show that according to FPSICO, the main psychosocial risks were detected in the scales of working time (WT), variety and content (VC), and workload (WL), with a prevalence of 34.8 % and 41.7 %. For PRAQ, the margin of action and control (D4), load and work rate (D1), and leadership (D3) were the most affected dimensions, with a risk prevalence between 29.1 % and 43.6 %. Although there is a lower risk prevalence in the rest of the scales and dimensions assessed, improvement actions are needed in the short term. Furthermore, the findings suggest an association between gender and risk prevalence, especially in the dimensions of Leadership (D3), Skills development (D2), and Self-perceived health (D8.8), where being a woman increases the likelihood of suffering from these conditions by up to three times. In addition, a brief comparative analysis was conducted, looking for coincidences in the scales that each PRA instrument assesses and the prevalence of the psychosocial risks detected.

RÉSUMÉ

This paper undertakes an analysis and discussion of the methodological challenges and insights derived from three longitudinal qualitative studies, all conducted in Chile during the COVID-19 pandemic and subject to comprehensive theoretical-methodological reflection processes centred on their respective designs. This analysis makes a significant contribution to interdisciplinary discussions within social research, with a particular emphasis on longitudinal trajectories. First, we present a comparative analysis of three studies in social work, utilising Saldaña's questions addressing changes and learning in longitudinal studies. The first study explores the labour trajectories of researchers, the second focuses on the educational trajectories of students, and the last examines therapeutic alliance trajectories between social workers and families within the child protection system. Following this, we delve into the methodological decisions made by the research group during the execution of these longitudinal studies. This encompasses an examination of participant involvement, temporal definitions of the adopted designs, and the most suitable methodological tools for analysing change processes over time. The outcomes of this comparative analysis reveal the distinctive characteristics of the three longitudinal studies, providing insights into how the time dimension is explored within them. We highlight key criteria essential for consideration in longitudinal qualitative research, particularly regarding participants and methodology. In conclusion, we advocate for an expanded reflection within the realm of longitudinal qualitative methodology, encompassing aspects such as design choices, approaches to data analysis, integration of technology in information processing, and strategies for maintaining participant engagement.

En Colombia, las tasas de empleo de la población con discapacidad visual están por debajo de las de la población general; sus ingresos también tienden a ser más bajos. Orientar los procesos de inclusión laboral se dificulta por la ausencia de instrumentos adecuados que permitan caracterizar e identificar sus necesidades. Se presenta un estudio dirigido a diseñar y validar el contenido de un instrumento para la caracterización laboral y productiva de esta población. A partir de la experiencia del Instituto Nacional para Ciegos, se diseñó una primera versión que fue sometida a validación de contenido con tres expertos que evaluaron su claridad, coherencia, relevancia y suficiencia, además de aportar observaciones y sugerencias. Se realizaron dos rondas de evaluación. Se estimó el grado de concordancia de las evaluaciones con el Coeficiente Kappa de Fleiss y se consideraron los aportes para ajustar el instrumento. Se obtuvo una versión final con 47 ítems en tres dimensiones: información general, académica y laboral, y productiva. El diseño, validación e implementación del instrumento reúne esfuerzos de la academia y el Estado para caracterizar a la población con discapacidad visual en diferentes ciudades del país y aportar a la reducción de las brechas de empleo e ingresos.


In Colombia, employment rates of the visually impaired population are below those of the general population, and their income also tends to be lower. The absence of adequate instruments to characterize and identify their needs makes orienting labor inclusion processes difficult. A study aimed at designing and validating the content of an instrument for the labor and productive characterization of this population is presented. Based on the experience of the Instituto Nacional para Ciegos (National Institute for the Blind), a first version was designed and submitted for content validation by three experts who assessed its clarity, coherence, relevance, and completeness and provided comments and suggestions. Two rounds of evaluation were carried out. The degree of consistency of the evaluations was estimated with the Fleiss Kappa Coefficient. Contributions were considered to adjust the instrument. A final version was obtained with 47 items in three dimensions: general, academic and employment, and productive information. The instrument's design, validation and implementation combine the efforts of academia and the State to characterize the visually impaired population in different cities of the country and contribute to the reduction of employment and income gaps.


Na Colômbia, as taxas de emprego da população com deficiência visual são inferiores às taxas da população em geral; sua renda também tende a ser menor. A orientação dos processos de inclusão laboral é dificultada pela ausência de instrumentos adequados para caracterizar e identificar suas necessidades. Apresentamos um estudo com o objetivo de elaborar e validar o conteúdo de um instrumento para a caracterização laboral e produtiva dessa população. Com base na experiência do Instituto Nacional para Cegos, uma primeira versão foi elaborada e submetida à validação de conteúdo com três especialistas que avaliaram sua clareza, coerência, relevância e suficiência, além de fornecerem comentários e sugestões. Foram realizadas duas roda-das de avaliação. O grau de concordância das avaliações foi estimado por meio do Coeficiente Kappa de Fleiss e as contribuições foram consideradas para ajustar o instrumento. Foi obtida uma versão final com 47 itens em três dimensões: informações gerais; acadêmicas e ocupacionais; e produtivas. O desenho, a validação e a implementação do instrumento reúnem os esforços do meio acadêmico, bem como do Estado, para caracterizar a população com deficiência visual em diferentes cidades do país e contribuir para a redução das lacunas de emprego e renda

Objective This study aimed to describe the methodological process for developing a questionnaire to identify the prevalence and risk factors for chronic occupational low back pain in healthcare professionals working at hospitals. Method An exploratory crossectional survey study was carried out in Belo Horizonte, MG, Brazil, and its metropolitan region, in two stages. Initially, the authors prepared a questionnaire based on the Roland Morris disability questionnaire and sent it to a committee of low back pain specialists for validation using the Delphi technique. The second stage consisted of sending the final questionnaire to health professionals working in a hospital environment for at least 2 years and presenting chronic low back pain for at least 3 months. Results Validation occurred in two rounds of questionnaire adjustments by a panel consisting of physical therapists and physician experts in the field (orthopedists with more than 3 years of experience). Both rounds had 13 participants. The questionnaire initially consisted of 27 items, and, after validation, it had 19 items. The study included 65 subjects, with an average age of 40.91 years old and an average time working at a hospital of 40 hours per week. The total sample had 76.9% of physicians, 10.8% of physical therapists, and 12.3% of nurses or nursing technicians. Most (52.3%) subjects reported staying in uncomfortable positions affecting the lower back for 5 to 10 hours per day. Conclusion We developed and validated, using the Delphi technique, a questionnaire on the prevalence and risk factors associated with chronic occupational low back pain among healthcare professionals working at hospitals. This unprecedented tool can benefit the population studied since the questionnaires currently used to evaluate chronic low back pain are not specific for investigating the occupational cause of this condition.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we evaluated the association between gender division of housework and intimate partner violence (IPV) victimization in a population-based cohort of mothers. We collected data on psychological, physical, and sexual IPV using an adapted version of the World Health Organization Violence Against Women instrument and division of housework using a validated questionnaire. We used logistic regression to calculate adjusted odds ratios. We found that in mothers who reported an unequal gender division of housework (higher load), the odds of suffering psychological, physical, or sexual IPV were higher during the first and second years of the pandemic.

BACKGROUND: In the working population, there are risks of overload due to physical, mental, and emotional demands. No instrument is available in Spanish to measure these three types of work fatigue (WF) separately. This paper adapts the Three-Dimensional Work Fatigue Inventory (3D-WFI) (2015), which is of American origin and measures and differentiates these three different types of WF. It has adequate psychometric properties at its root, as do the subsequent German (2018), Lebanese (2022), and Chinese (2023) adaptations. METHODS: A total of 1100 workers (average age = 40 years) from economic sectors such as security and transportation of valuables, secondary and university educational institutions, and healthcare centers participated. They responded to the 3D-WFI, the Health-Related Quality of Life Index, and the Individual Strength Checklist for concurrent validity effects, together with items with sociodemographic and lifestyle variables. RESULTS: A confirmatory factor analysis with the total sample 3D-WFI supports its three-dimensionality; Cronbach's alpha and Omega values are adequate by dimensions: for physical work fatigue (α = 0.92, Ω = 0.92), for mental work fatigue (α = 0.94. Ω = 0.94), and emotional work fatigue (α = 0.95, Ω = 0.95). The 3D-WFI correlates significantly with the Checklist Individual Strength (0.743), and a pattern of significant relationships is found between WF and antecedent variables (e.g., being exposed to heat and noise, emotional labor, concentration, and workwear), as well as some consequences of WF (for example, mental health, absenteeism, work satisfaction, and sleep quality). CONCLUSIONS: We contribute here to the cross-cultural validity of the 3D-WFI, which can be used reliably and validly in the Chilean and probably Latin American working population. Some WF predictor variables are confirmed, as well as WF impacts on the absenteeism, health, and quality of life among workers.

Resumo Objetivo Este estudo pretende descrever o processo metodológico para a elaboração de um questionário para identificar a prevalência e os fatores de risco associados à dor lombar ocupacional crônica nos profissionais da área da saúde que atuam em nível hospitalar. Método Foi realizado um estudo transversal exploratório do tipo questionário. O estudo foi realizado na cidade de Belo Horizonte e região metropolitana, em duas etapas. Inicialmente foi elaborado pelos autores um questionário baseado no questionário de deficiências Roland Morris e enviado a um comitê de especialistas em lombalgia para validação do mesmo através da técnica Delphi. A segunda etapa consistiu em enviar o questionário final a profissionais de saúde que atuam em ambiente hospitalar há pelo menos 2 anos e que tenham lombalgia crônica há pelo menos 3 meses. Resultados A validação foi realizada em duas rodadas de adequações do questionário, com painel composto por fisioterapeutas e médicos especialistas na área (ortopedistas com mais de 3 anos de atuação). Ambas as rodadas contaram com 13 participantes. O questionário foi composto inicialmente por 27 itens e, após validação, 19 itens. O estudo incluiu 65 indivíduos, com idade média de 40,91 anos e tempo médio de atuação em nível hospitalar semanal de 40 horas. A amostra total possuía 76,9% médicos, 10,8% fisioterapeutas e 12,3% enfermeiros ou técnicos de enfermagem. A maioria (52,3%) dos indivíduos relatou manter-se em posições desconfortáveis que afetam a região lombar por 5 a 10 horas por dia. Conclusão Foi desenvolvido e validado, pela técnica Delphi, um questionário sobre a prevalência e fatores de risco associados a dor lombar ocupacional crônica entre profissionais da área da saúde que atuam em nível hospitalar. Este instrumento inédito pode trazer benefícios para a população estudada, visto que os questionários utilizados atualmente para a avaliação de dor lombar crônica não são específicos para a investigação da causa ocupacional de tal condição.

Objetivo: Analisar as práticas de enfermeiros e suas implicações na (re)construção de sua identidade no contexto da saúde mental. Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo de caso, de abordagem qualitativa, alicerçado no referencial teórico de Claude Dubar. Participaram sete enfermeiros que atuam em Centros de Atenção Psicossocial de uma cidade do norte de Minas Gerais, Brasil. Os dados foram analisados à luz do referencial teórico sobre identidade de Claude Dubar, e por meio da Análise de Conteúdo. Resultados: Os dados foram analisados e discutidos por meio das categorias "As práticas do enfermeiro no contexto da saúde mental" e "Competências profissionais do enfermeiro em saúde mental e Identidade Real". Conclusão: O estudo sinaliza a reconfiguração identitária do enfermeiro no campo da saúde mental expressa pelas práticas, competências profissionais e identidade real construída na percepção de si como agente terapêutico.


Objective: To analyze the practices of nurses and their implications in the (re)construction of their identity in the context of mental health. Methods: This is a case study with a qualitative approach, based on the theoretical framework of Claude Dubar. Participants included seven nurses who work in Mental Health Services in a northern city of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The data were analyzed in the light of Claude Dubar's theoretical framework on identity and with Content Analysis. Results:The data were analyzed and discussed using the categories: "Nurses' practices in the context of mental health" and "Nurses' professional competencies in mental health and Real Identity." Conclusion: The study shows the nurses' identity reconfiguration in the field of mental health expressed by the practices, professional competencies, and real identity constructed in their perception of themselves as therapeutic agents.


Objetivo: Analizar las prácticas de la enfermería y sus implicaciones en la (re)construcción de su identidad en el contexto de la salud mental. Métodos: Se trata de un estudio de caso, con enfoque cualitativo, basado en el marco teórico de Claude Dubar. Siete enfermeros que actúan en Centros de Atención Psicosocial en una ciudad del norte de Minas Gerais, Brasil, participaron en el estudio. Los datos fueron analizados a la luz de la identidad del marco teórico de Claude Dubar y del análisis de contenido. Resultados:Los datos se analizaron y discutieron desde las siguientes categorías: "Las prácticas de enfermería en el contexto de la salud mental"; y "Competencias profesionales de las enfermeras en salud mental e identidad real". Conclusión: Este estudio destaca la reconfiguración de la identidad de los enfermeros en el campo de la salud mental que se manifiesta desde prácticas, competencias profesionales e identidad real construida en la percepción de sí mismos como agente terapéutico.

As pescadoras artesanais do litoral de Pernambuco enfrentam os impactos das indústrias, do derramamento de petróleo e da pandemia de covid-19, conformando uma sindemia que agrava as vulnerabilidades socioe-conômicas, ambientais e sanitárias. Objetivou-se demonstrar que estratégias de comunicação e divulgação científica, como a cartilha "Saúde das mulheres das águas" e o documentário O mar que habita em mim, são importantes por promoverem a democratização do conhecimento. Trata-se de pesquisa-ação do tipo etnográfica para identificar aspectos do trabalho e da vida. Participaram 34 pescadoras, mediante grupos focais, oficina de fluxograma laboral, vivência do trabalho da pesca, análise e produção de estratégias. Esses materiais demonstram a relação saúde doença no trabalho da pesca enfatizando narrativas sobre deter-minação social da saúde. As estratégias comunicativas provocaram interesse da sociedade, promoveram debate e contribuíram para a consciência de profissionais/gestores de saúde sobre os povos das águas e as situações nos territórios.


Artisanal fisherwomen of Pernambuco face the impacts of the industries, of an oil spill and of the covid-19 pandemic, forming a syndemic that aggravates socioeconomic, environmental and health vulnerabilities. The objective was to demonstrate that scientific communication and dissemination strategies, such as the booklet "Saúde das mulheres das águas" and the documentary O mar que habita em mim, promote knowledge. This is an ethnographic type of action research to identify aspects of work and life. A total of 34 artisanal fisherwomen participated, in focus groups, labor flowchart workshop, experience of fishing work, analysis and production of strategies. These materials demonstrate the health disease relationship in fishing work, emphasizing the narratives of the fisherwomen about the social determination of their health. The communicative strategies provoked society's interests, promoted the debate and contributed to the awareness of professionals and health managers about the health of water's people and situations in the territories.


Pescadoras artesanales de pernambucano enfrentan impactos de industrias, derrame de petróleo y la pandemia de covid-19, formando una sindemia que agrava vulnerabilidades socioeconómicas, ambientales y de salud. El objetivo fue demostrar que las estrategias de comunicación y divulgación científica, como el folleto "'Salud das mujeres das aguas" y el documentario El mar que habita en mí, democratizan el conocimiento. Tiene abordaje de investigación-acción, etnográfica, para identificar aspectos del trabajo y la vida. Participaron 34 pescadoras en grupos focales, taller del flujo de trabajo, vivencia del trabajo en la pesca, análisis y elaboración de estrategias. Estos materiales demuestran la relación salud enfermedad en el trabajo pesquero, enfatizando narrativas sobre la determinación social de la salud. Las estrategias comu-nicativas despertaron el interés de la sociedad, promovieron el debate y contribuyeron a la sensibilización de los profesionales/gestores de la salud sobre los pueblos de las aguas y las situaciones de los territorios.
