RÉSUMÉ

Genital prolapse in the newborn is a rare clinical condition often times seen in association with congenital myelo-meningocele, or this could occur following shigellosis infection. We therefore report two neonates with rectal prolapse following diarrhea and utero-vaginal prolapse associated with congenital spinal bifida.

RÉSUMÉ

Duplications of gastrointestinal tract are rare anomalies, and rectal duplications account for five percent of the alimentary tract duplications. We present an unusual case of rectal duplication, which was located externally in a newborn female, and discuss the types of distal hindgut duplications.

RÉSUMÉ

The dynamic graciloplasty has gained acceptance in the therapy of intractable fecal incontinence. With a success-rate of 60 to 80%, the dynamic graciloplasty is a good alternative towards a permanent colostomy for individual cases. Furthermore, adults suffering from congenital anal atresia may be well treated by this therapy as described in this case. Following surgery, an accurate follow-up is inevitable in these patients, including training of neosphincter control. After 8 to 12 weeks the training-process of the neosphincter-control should be finished. At this point of time the patient will have obtained defecation-control and should be able to execute voluntary defecations.

RÉSUMÉ

The authors present two case reports of cystic rectal duplication which presented as rectal prolapse. Two girls, caucasian race, 8 months and 12 years old, went to the emergency department because of a rectal prolapse. After the diagnosis surgical excision was performed by transanal approach. The post-operative period was short and uneventful. Histological examination confirmed a rectal cystic duplication.

RÉSUMÉ

No generally valid and accepted views, applicable to all severities, have so far existed regarding aetiopathogenesis and therapeutic strategies for surgical approach to anorectal prolapse in childhood. More ground has been assumed in recent years by sclerosing therapy. The injections therapy has proved to be highly suitable for severity stages One and Two and for Type I according to Reifferscheid and Altemeier. It should be used before more invasive surgical interventions are decided. This conclusion has been drawn by the authors of this paper from their own therapeutic results obtained from 37 cases of anorectal prolapse in childhood, with therapeutic sclerosing being used in 23 instances.
