ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION: Robotic surgery has transformed minimally invasive procedures, offering precision and efficiency. However, the ergonomic aspects of robotic consoles and their impact on surgeon health remain understudied. This review investigates the burden of ergonomics and muscle fatigue among robotic surgeons in China, comparing the findings to a multinational study. METHODOLOGY: A literature review identified themes related to physical discomfort in robotic surgery. A questionnaire was administered to Chinese robotic surgeons, yielding 40 responses. The study assessed demographic characteristics, surgeon experience, ergonomic practices, reported discomfort, and pain-relief mechanisms. RESULTS: The study revealed that most surgeons experienced shoulder and neck pain, with mixed opinions on whether robotic surgery was the primary cause. Stretching exercises were commonly used for pain relief. Surgeons believed that case volume and surgery duration contributed to discomfort. Comparisons with a multinational study suggested potential demographic and experience-related differences. CONCLUSION: While the study has limitations, including a small sample size and potential translation issues, it underscores the importance of addressing ergonomic concerns and providing proper training to robotic surgeons to ensure their well-being and longevity in the field. Further research with larger cohorts and platform-specific analyses is warranted.

ABSTRACT

Education is a part of human basic needs, and one way to provide this need is through schools. Therefore, schools should be accessible to all members of society without exception. Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, has 3899 primary and secondary schools to provide for over 1 million school-age children as of 2020. This research, however, will not dwell on the issue of capacity based on the number of demands and available schools, but rather the accessibility and fairness. Two methods: radius and road network, are used in this research with the addition of spatial analysis to measure the students' walking accessibility level relating to the school zoning system regulations in Indonesia. The analysis result highlighted the variations in accuracy between the two methods, the coverage area between formal and informal settlements, and the spatial context of the accessibility. The result provides a comprehensive spatial analysis to support policymakers in future planning works.

ABSTRACT

This CO2 data is gathered from WSN (Wireless Sensor Network) sensors that is placed in some areas. To make this observation framework run effectively, examining the relationships between factors is required. We can utilize multiple wireless sensor devices. There are three parts of the system, including the sensor device, the sink node device, and the server. We use those devices to acquire data over a three-month period. In terms of the server infrastructure, we utilized an application server, a user interface server, and a database server to store our data. This study built a WSN framework for CO2 observations. We investigate, analyze, and predict the level of CO2, and the results have been collected. The Random Forest algorithm achieved a 0.82 R2 Score.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Callotasis of the hand has several advantages: it is less invasive than other techniques as bone grafting is unnecessary, gradual distraction is possible, joint mobilization can be performed during treatment, and sensation is maintained. Disadvantages include longer period of treatment and perhaps the need for complicated and bulky instrumentation. METHODS: We reported results of the lengthening of eight traumatically shortened metacarpals or phalanges (in six patients). There were two men and four women, with a mean age of 17.5 years. There were one thumb and seven fingers. There were three proximal phalanges and five metacarpals. Unilateral external fixator was applied to all cases. Osteotomy was performed at the proximal metaphysis in three cases, middle diaphysis in two cases, and the distal metaphysis in three cases. Lengthening was begun after 10 days to 14 days at a rate of 0.25 mm two times or three times daily. We modified the rate of distraction according to the development of pain, sensory disturbance, and contracture of the digit during lengthening. In former cases, the rate was 0.25 mm three times daily. RESULTS: The proposed length was achieved in all digits and no bone graft was required. The mean length increase was 18.9 mm (53.5% of the original length of 35.25 mm). Age was positively correlated with the healing index and consolidation time as younger patients healed faster than older patients. Conversely, the faster the distraction rate, the slower were the healing index and consolidation time. There were few complications which did not affect the final results. We preferred metacarpal lengthening in cases with very short proximal phalangeal traumatic amputation stump (<1 cm). CONCLUSION: Distraction lengthening is a valid option with minor complications rate. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: Therapeutic study, level V.
