ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the status quo of cancer-related fatigue(CRF)in patients with advanced malignant tumours during anti-tumour treatment, and explore the influencing factors so as to provide a reference for nursing intervention. Methods Between January and August 2022,a total of 279 patients with advanced malignant tumours who received anti-tumour therapies in the Department of Oncology of a general hospital in Beijing were selected as study subjects using convenience sampling method.General data questionnaire, cancer fatigue scale,chemotherapy-related gastrointestinal symptoms inventory, and nutritional risk screening 2002 were used for the investigation.Logistic regression analysis was conducted to determine the influencing factors of cancer-related fatigue. Results Toally 279 patients finished the study.A total of 204(73.12%)patients had cancer-related fatigue.Binary logistic regression analysis showed that BMI,education, monthly family income and diabetes were the influencing factors in cancer-related fatigue(all P<0.05).Conclusions The incidence of cancer-related fatigue is high in patients with advanced malignant tumours during anti-tumour therapy.Low BMI,poor education, low monthly family income and diabetes are the risk factors in cancer-related fatigue.Targeted interventions should be implemented based on the risk factors so as to reduce the incidence of cancer-related fatigue.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To investigate the current situation of geriatric nursing ability of clinical nursing teachers and analyze the influencing factors, and to identify demands of geriatric nursing training. Methods:From May to June 2023, a cross-sectional study was conducted among 2 408 clinical nursing teachers in 50 tertiary hospitals from 9 provinces and cities in East China, South China, Central China, North China, and Southwest China using the general information questionnaire, Geriatric Nursing Competence Scale for Clinical Nurses, and Geriatric Nursing Training Demands Questionnaire. Results:Among the clinical nursing teachers surveyed, there were 269 (11.17%), 938 (38.95%), and 1 201 (49.88%) teachers at low, medium, and high levels of geriatric nursing ability, respectively. The results of multinomial Logistic regression analysis showed that age, years of working in geriatric nursing, geriatric nursing related training, satisfaction with clinical nursing work, and interest in geriatric nursing work were common influencing factors in the low and medium level groups ( P<0.05), and professional title was a specific influencing factor in the medium level group ( P<0.05). The top three demands of geriatric nursing training content were geriatric nursing service model, knowledge of chronic disease management, and comprehensive geriatric assessment techniques. The top three demands of training forms were live streaming, field visits, and offline lectures. Conclusions:For clinical nursing teachers, demand-oriented geriatric nursing training should be strengthened, and attention should be paid to the satisfaction and interest in nursing work, so as to improve the teachers' geriatric nursing ability and strengthen the level of geriatric service.

ABSTRACT

Comprehensive geriatric assessment clinic can identify geriatric syndrome as well as geriatric health problems, and provide comprehensive systematic diagnosis and treatment for older patients, which is conducive to reducing the number of outpatient visits and saving medical costs. However, the construction of comprehensive geriatric assessment clinic in China is just in the initial stage. There are no guiding opinions on the orientation, work content, work process, and quality management. Therefore, this consensus was conducted based on the latest evidence and expert opinions which aims to provide guidance for the construction of comprehensive geriatric assessment clinic.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To explore the interaction effectiveness of residence and social support on physical function for older adults. Methods:Using multistage sampling method, the older adults in 9 provinces were chosen to investigate from January 2022 to January 2023 by using general information questionnaire and Short Physical Performance Battery.Binary Logistic regression analysis was used to explore the independent effectiveness of social support and residence category on physical function. The additive and multiplicative models were used to analyze the interactions between above two factors. Results:A total of 23 922 older adults were investigated. And 18 719(78.3%)older adults had poor physical function. There were significant independent effect of social support and residence category on physical function of older adults( P<0.001). Besides, the results showed that residence category and social support had a significant multiplicative interaction on physical function( OR=0.763, 95% CI: 0.615-0.947, P=0.014). The crossover analysis showed that older adults living in rural as well as lack of social support had the highest probability of impaired physical function( OR=1.521, 95% CI: 1.308-1.769, P<0.001). But there was no difference found in additive interaction. Conclusions:An interaction effect was found in rural living and lack of social support.Older adults living in rural as well as lack of social support have a higher risk of impaired physical function.

ABSTRACT

The novel coronavirus 2019(2019-nCoV)was first detected from patients with pneumonia of an unknown cause in Wuhan in December 2019.It has since been confirmed as the pathogen for the new coronavirus pneumonia, recently named coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) by the WHO.Although the general population is commonly susceptible to the disease, infected elderly people show fast progression and severe manifestations with a high proportion in serious or critical condition as a result of compromised immunity and underlying diseases. In order to improve the quality of nursing management, reduce complications and decrease mortality for critically ill elderly patients, we assembled a national expert group with expertise in critical care nursing to write this consensus, based on a literature review and a subsequent panel discussion. The consensus covers the assessment, clinical nursing management, nursing care following hospital discharge and other aspects of care for critically ill elderly patients with COVID-19, aiming to share insights and provide guidance for clinical practice.
