Purpose: Previous research has consistently shown that self-perception of aging (SPA) is an important predictor of health and longevity, while Chinese rural elderly patients with hypertension had poorer SPA. Whether it was associated with their mortality kept unknown. The objective of this study was to investigate the long-term mortality and analyze the association between SPA and this mortality in the specific context of rural elderly patients with hypertension. Patients and Methods: This study is a longitudinal investigation of the mortality in elderly patients with hypertension in rural Suzhou, China. Sociodemographic and clinical data, SPA, and six-year mortality were investigated. We used binary logistic regression and subgroup analyses to assess the effect of SPA at baseline on six-year mortality. Results: A total of 280 hypertensive patients aged 60 years and older participated in the study, of whom 21 died, with a six-year mortality rate of 7.5%. After controlling for covariates, the "Emotional representation" dimension (OR=2.824, 95% CI:1.034-7.712) in SPA remained a risk factor for death. In subgroup analyses of the group aged 75 years and older, high scores on the "Timeline cyclical" (OR=14.125, 95% CI: 1.258-158.593) and "Emotional representations" (OR=2.567, 95% CI:1.066-6.182) dimensions were associated with a higher risk of death, while weekly nut intake may have mitigated the negative SPA effect on mortality. Conclusion: Poorer self-perception of aging was associated with a high risk of mortality in rural elderly patients with hypertension, while the habit of weekly nut intake might help reduce this risk in the group aged 75 years or older.

Radiofrequency thermocoagulation (RFTC) of the peripheral branches of the trigeminal nerve has been used for trigeminal neuralgia. However, the long-term outcomes of radiofrequency thermocoagulation have not been established. To evaluate the long-term efficacy of RFTC of peripheral branches in patients with refractory trigeminal neuralgia. A retrospective cohort study was conducted in a comprehensive medical center in China. Patients who underwent radiofrequency thermocoagulation of peripheral branches for refractory trigeminal neuralgia from May 2014 to March 2021 were included for analysis. A total of 84 patients with refractory trigeminal neuralgia underwent 105 procedures. BNI I-II which represents treatment success was achieved in 76/84 (90%) patients and 93/105 (89%) procedures. During follow-up, BNI I and II were maintained in 64/76 (84%), 40/73 (55%), 20/67 (30%), 17/65 (26%), 12/61 (20%), and 8/58 (14%) of patients at 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 years, after the first procedure, respectively. For all the 105 procedures, BNI I and II were maintained in 68/93 (73%), 41/89(46%), 22/82(27%), 15/79 (19%), 8/74 (11%), and 3/72 (4%) at 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 years, respectively. There is no significant difference between the first and repeat thermocoagulation in terms of immediate (90% vs. 81%, P=0.140) and long-term efficacies (24 months vs.18 months, P=0.266). Radiofrequency thermocoagulation resulted in better long-term outcomes in patients with typical purely paroxysmal pain (24 months vs. 11 months, P=0.033). Radiofrequency ablation of the peripheral branches of the trigeminal nerve might be a safe and effective method in the treatment of refractory trigeminal neuralgia.

BACKGROUND: Endoplasmic reticulum stress plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of neuroinflammation and chronic pain. This study hypothesized that PRKR-like endoplasmic reticulum kinase (PERK) and inositol-requiring enzyme type 1 (IRE1) regulate lipocalin-2 (LCN2) and Nod-like receptor family pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3) expression in astrocytes, thereby contributing to morphine tolerance and hyperalgesia. METHODS: The study was performed in Sprague-Dawley rats and C57/Bl6 mice of both sexes. The expression of LCN2 and NLRP3 was assessed by Western blotting. The tail-flick, von Frey, and Hargreaves tests were used to evaluate nociceptive behaviors. Chromatin immunoprecipitation was conducted to analyze the binding of activating transcription factor 4 (ATF4) to the promoters of LCN2 and TXNIP. Whole-cell patch-clamp recordings were used to evaluate neuronal excitability. RESULTS: Pharmacologic inhibition of PERK and IRE1 attenuated the development of morphine tolerance and hyperalgesia in male (tail latency on day 7, 8.0 ± 1.13 s in the morphine + GSK2656157 [10 µg] group vs. 5.8 ± 0.65 s in the morphine group; P = 0.04; n = 6 rats/group) and female (tail latency on day 7, 6.0 ± 0.84 s in the morphine + GSK2656157 [10 µg] group vs. 3.1 ± 1.09 s in the morphine group; P = 0.0005; n = 6 rats/group) rats. Activation of PERK and IRE1 upregulated expression of LCN2 and NLRP3 in vivo and in vitro. Chromatin immunoprecipitation analysis showed that ATF4 directly bound to the promoters of the LCN2 and TXNIP. Lipocalin-2 induced neuronal hyperexcitability in the spinal cord and dorsal root ganglia via melanocortin-4 receptor. CONCLUSIONS: Astrocyte endoplasmic reticulum stress sensors PERK and IRE1 facilitated morphine tolerance and hyperalgesia through upregulation of LCN2 and NLRP3 in the spinal cord.

BACKGROUND: Accumulated evidence suggests that M2-like polarized macrophages plays an important role in reducing inflammation, promoting and accelerating wound healing process and tissue repair. Thus, M2-like TAMs (Tumour-associated macrophages) was an appealing target for therapy intervention. METHOD: Flow cytometry and RT-PCR assay were used to detect the polarization of macrophages induced by Medrysone, and the rat corneal mechanical injury model was established to evaluate the efficacy of Medrysone in cornel repair. RESULTS: Here we found that Medrysone enhanced IL-4 induced M2 polarization of macrophages, as illustrated by increased expression of CD206, up-regulation of M2 marker mRNAs. Medrysone promoted VEGF and CCL2 secretion in IL-4 induced M2-like polarization. IL-4 triggered STAT6 activation was further enhanced by Medrysone and silencing of STAT6 partially abrogated the stimulatory effect of Medrysone. Medrysone improved migration-promoting feature of M2-like macrophages, as indicated by increased migration of endothelial cells. Further, Medrysone promoted corneal injury repair by inducing M2 polarization of macrophages in vivo. CONCLUSION: Our study suggest that Medrysone promotes corneal injury repair by inducing the M2 polarization of macrophages, providing a theoretical basis for the application of Medrysone in the treatment of corneal injury.

Although beta-endorphinergic neurons in the hypothalamic arcuate nucleus (ARC) synthesize beta-endorphin (ß-EP) to alleviate nociceptive behaviors, the underlying regulatory mechanisms remain unknown. Here, we elucidated an epigenetic pathway driven by microRNA regulation of ß-EP synthesis in ARC neurons to control neuropathic pain. In pain-injured rats miR-203a-3p was the most highly upregulated miRNA in the ARC. A similar increase was identified in the cerebrospinal fluid of trigeminal neuralgia patients. Mechanistically, we found histone deacetylase 9 was downregulated following nerve injury, which decreased deacetylation of histone H3 lysine-18, facilitating the binding of NR4A2 transcription factor to the miR-203a-3p gene promoter, thereby upregulating miR-203a-3p expression. Further, increased miR-203a-3p was found to maintain neuropathic pain by targeting proprotein convertase 1, an endopeptidase necessary for the cleavage of proopiomelanocortin, the precursor of ß-EP. The identified mechanism may provide an avenue for the development of new therapeutic targets for neuropathic pain treatment.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effectiveness of percutaneous balloon compression (PBC) in treating trigeminal neuralgia (TN) and determine improvements in quality of life (QoL) and daily functional status. METHODS: Data from primary TN (pTN) patients treated with PBC from December 2018 to April 2021 were retrospectively analyzed. Short-Form 36 (SF-36) Health Survey and Functional Independence Measure (FIM) assessments were used to evaluate patients' QoL and physical function every 6 months after surgery, and facial pain was evaluated every 3 to 6 months post-surgery. RESULTS: A total of 80 pTN patients were enrolled for analysis. The Barrow Neurological Institute (BNI) scores of I-II were achieved in 67 (83.8%) patients immediately after the surgery. The estimated rates of BNI I-II pain relief at one, two, and three years were 94.2%, 87.6%, and 83.2%, respectively. All aspects of the SF-36 questionnaire were significantly improved after the PBC, especially in terms of role physical (RP), bodily pain (BP), and social functioning (SF). Patients' functional outcomes measured by FIM at the 6-month follow-up examination were 108.6 ± 9.9, which was significantly improved compared with the pretreatment scores (90.8 ± 12.7). There was no difference between the severity of facial numbness in FIM and any item of the SF-36 except RP (P = 0.004) at 6 months after surgery. There was also no difference in SF-36 and FIM between patients with or without facial hyperalgesia. CONCLUSIONS: PBC can produce long-term and stable pain relief and significantly improve the patient's QoL and physical function. However, further well-designed, high-level, evidence-based studies are needed to precisely assess the efficacy of PBC for pTN patients.

OBJECTIVES: To observe the effect of the acupuncture of myofascial trigger points (MTrPs) in the treatment of lower extremity varicose veins (LEVVs). METHODS: Overall, 260 patients with LEVVs participated in this study. LEVVs were selected based on diagnostic criteria of Clinical, Etiology, Anatomy, and Pathophysiology levels 2-5 and classified into six types on the basis of their anatomical positions. The MTrPs in the lower extremities were localized in accordance with the classification of LEVVs and treated by MTrPs acupuncture combined with self-massage and self-stretching. The interval between each treatment was 2 weeks to 1 month, depending on needling pain tolerance of each patient. An in-house evaluation was used to estimate the proportion of varicose veins in the lower limbs and their accompanying symptoms. The treatment effect was evaluated before each treatment and at 1-year follow-up. RESULTS: The mean evaluation score of LEVVs before the treatment course was 3.66 ± 1.19. After the course, this reduced to 1.18 ± 0.97, with the following response rates: 85% for excellent and good and 15% for medium. After 1-year follow-up, the mean evaluation score of all patients was 1.11 ± 0.92, with the following response rates: 87% for excellent and good, and 13% for medium. CONCLUSIONS: In some patients, MTrP acupuncture could cure LEVVs and its accompanying symptoms. These LEVVs are probably caused by fascia tension as a pre-pathology induced by the MTrPs.

The purpose of this open-label, randomized, controlled, in-clinic, 5-parallel-group study was to assess biomarkers of exposure (BoE) to select harmful and potentially harmful constituents in adults who smoke (N = 144) switching to oral tobacco products (on!® mint nicotine pouches; test products) compared to continuing smoking cigarettes (CS) and completely quitting all tobacco products (NT). Changes in 20 BoE to select harmful and potentially harmful constituents, including 4-(methylnitrosamino)-1-(3-pyridyl)-1-butanol (NNAL), were evaluated. Adult smokers smoked their usual brand of cigarettes for 2 days (baseline assessments) and then were randomly assigned to ad libitum use of 2, 4, or 8 mg test products, CS, or NT for 7 days. Analysis of covariance was used to assess the Day 7 BoE levels between each group using test products, CS, and NT. The creatinine-adjusted total urinary NNAL and other 18 of 19 BoE levels (except nicotine equivalents [NEs]) were significantly lower (P < .05) on Day 7, among all test product groups compared to CS. Geometric least-square means were reduced for all biomarkers of exposure, except NEs, in test product groups by approximately 42%-96% compared to the CS group, and reductions were comparable to the NT group. The geometric least-square means for urinary NE between the test product and the CS groups, although not significantly different, the Day 7 mean change relative to the CS group were 49.9%, 65.8%, and 101% for the 2, 4, and 8 mg test product groups, respectively. The substantial reduction in harmful and potentially harmful constituent exposure suggests complete switching from cigarettes to test products may present a harm reduction opportunity for adults who smoke.

BACKGROUND: People with serious mental illness are at great risk of suicide, but little is known about the suicide rates among this population. We aimed to quantify the suicide rates among people with serious mental illness (bipolar disorder, major depression, or schizophrenia). METHODS: PubMed and Web of Science were searched to identify studies published from 1 January 1975 to 10 December 2020. We assessed English-language studies for the suicide rates among people with serious mental illness. Random-effects meta-analysis was used. Changes in follow-up time and the suicide rates were presented by a locally weighted scatter-plot smoothing (LOESS) curve. Suicide rate ratio was estimated for assessments of difference in suicide rate by sex. RESULTS: Of 5014 identified studies, 41 were included in this analysis. The pooled suicide rate was 312.8 per 100 000 person-years (95% CI 230.3-406.8). Europe was reported to have the highest pooled suicide rate of 335.2 per 100 000 person-years (95% CI 261.5-417.6). Major depression had the highest suicide rate of 534.3 per 100 000 person-years (95% CI 30.4-1448.7). There is a downward trend in suicide rate estimates over follow-up time. Excess risk of suicide in males was found [1.90 (95% CI 1.60-2.25)]. The most common suicide method was poisoning [21.9 per 100 000 person-years (95% CI 3.7-50.4)]. CONCLUSIONS: The suicide rates among people with serious mental illness were high, highlighting the requirements for increasing psychological assessment and monitoring. Further study should focus on region and age differences in suicide among this population.

OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to establish a nomogram model to predict SI in patients with cancer and further evaluate its performance. METHOD: This study was performed among 390 patients in oncology departments of Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University from April 2020 to January 2021. Of these, eligible patients who were diagnosed with cancer were split into training and validation cohorts according the ratio of 2:1 randomly. In the training cohort, multivariate regression was performed to determine the independent variables related to SI. A nomogram was built incorporating these variables. The model performance was evaluated by an independent validation cohort. RESULTS: The prevalence of SI in patients with cancer was 22.31% and 19.23% in training and validation cohorts, respectively. The nomogram model suggested independent variables for SI, including depression, emotional function, time after diagnosis, family function and educational status. The area under the curve (AUC) was 0.93 (95%CI, 0.90-0.97) and 0.82 (95%CI, 0.74-0.90) in training and validation cohorts respectively, which indicated good discrimination of the nomogram in predicting SI in cancer patients. The p-value of the goodness of fit (GOF) test was 0.197 and 0.974 in training and validation cohorts respectively, suggesting our nomogram model has acceptable calibration power, and the calibration curves further indicated good calibration power. CONCLUSION: In conclusion, the nomogram model for predicting individualized probability of SI could help clinical caregivers estimate the risk of SI in patients with cancer and provide appropriate management.

BACKGROUND: Degenerative lumbar spinal stenosis (DLSS) is a complex clinical syndrome that leads to spinal compression. Decompression with fusion has been the most commonly used surgical procedure for treating DLSS symptoms for many years. However, the exact role of fusion and its effectiveness in DLSS therapy has recently been debated. OBJECTIVE: The main purpose of this study was to compare the efficacy and safety of decompression alone and decompression plus fusion in the treatment of DLSS with or without spondylolisthesis. STUDY DESIGN: A systematic review and meta-analysis of the therapeutic effects of decompression for DLSS with or without the combination of fusion. METHODS: A literature search in five relevant databases, including Web of Science, PubMed, Embase, Medline, and Cochrane Library was performed from the inception of the database to March 2022. Only randomized controlled trials (RCTs) assessing the comparison between decompression and decompression plus fusion for DLSS were included. RESULTS: A total of seven studies, 894 patients were analyzed in this meta-analysis. Among these, 443 patients were included in the decompression plus fusion group while 451 patients were included in the decompression alone group. Pooled analysis showed that the combination of decompression with fusion had no superior benefits to decompression alone in terms of Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) score in the first 2 years and long-term follow-up after surgery, also no significant difference in the improvement of back and leg pain was found between two groups. Adding fusion to decompression was associated with a longer operation time, higher complication rate, more blood loss, and extended hospital stay. Furthermore, there was no difference in reoperation rates and patients' satisfaction between the two groups at the last follow-up. CONCLUSION: Decompression plus fusion may not be associated with a better clinical outcome in ODI scores and back or leg pain improvement but with a longer duration of operation time, extended hospital stay, and more blood loss.

Aim: To compare the benefits of didactic versus board game-based oral health instruction on oral health knowledge (OHK) and oral hygiene of preschool students. Materials and Methods: Participants were selected through computer-assisted randomization. (Eighty students were selected in both the 3- to 4-year-old and 5- to 6-year-old age groups, respectively, for a total of 160 participants). Forty participants of each age group were assigned randomly to Group A (PowerPoint® presentation) and 40 to Group B ("Dental Truth or Dare" board game-based instruction). OHK and debris index-simplified (DI-S) were assessed at preintervention, and at 1-week, 1-month, and 3-month postintervention timepoints. Results: OHK scores increased significantly in the 3- to 4-year-old subset of Group A at the 1-week postintervention timepoint but declined and approximated the baseline value at the 3-month timepoint. In contrast, compared to baseline, significantly improved OHK scores were observed at all 3 timepoints in both age groups in Group B, and were especially pronounced in the 5- to 6-year-old subset. Although the 3-month scores were slightly lower than the 1-week scores, they were well above baseline values. Pre- and postintervention DI-S scores did not change significantly in the 3- to 4-year-old subset of Group A. However, significant increases in good DI-S scores and decreases in fair and poor scores were observed between baseline and 3-month timepoints in the 5- to 6-year-old subset of Group A and in both age subsets of Group B (P ≤ 0.05). OHK and DI-S scores were significantly higher among 5-6-year-olds than among the 3-4-year olds in both Groups A and B (P ≤ 0.05). Age and board game intervention were the main determinants of higher OHK and lower DI-S scores. The impact of intervention mode (board game) was greater than that of age. Conclusion: Board game-based oral hygiene education conferred significant short-term retention, enhanced OHK, and reduced DI-S. We conclude that gaming is an easily implemented and cost-effective educational tool for the improvement of oral hygiene in preschool children.

BACKGROUND: Arthroscopic rotator cuff repair (ARCR) often causes unbearable postoperative pain, even more severe than before surgery. Opioids are the drugs of choice for temporary postoperative analgesia. However, this conventional approach also has some side effects and potential for drug abuse. The aims of this study are expected to verify the effect of 5% lidocaine patch (LP5) on the intensity of early postoperative pain, functional recovery and quality of life in patients undergoing ARCR. METHODS: In this randomized, double-blind, and placebo-controlled clinical trial, a total of 102 postoperative patients undergoing ARCR will be randomly assigned to either the LP5 group, receiving topical lidocaine analgesia, or the placebo control group. The primary outcome measure will be the change in the American Shoulder Elbow Surgeons score from pre-operation to 90 days post-operation. Secondary outcomes will include pain scores, range of motion, opioid use, safety indicators, blinding assessment and several shoulder function score questionnaires. The effect of the allocated treatment will be assessed at preoperative baseline and at 7-, 14-, 30- and 90-day postoperatively. DISCUSSION: In this study, the efficacy and safety of the 5% lidocaine patch will be evaluated in terms of short-term clinical symptoms in patients undergoing ARCR. The results of this study will help determine whether LP5 is effective in early functional recovery in ARCR and whether it relieves pain and reduces opioid consumption. BACKGROUND: To compare the efficacy and feasibility of using a modified Glasgow coma scale (GCS) score of 13 or 15 as the criterion for switching chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients with respiratory failure to sequential invasive-noninvasive ventilation. METHODS: COPD patients with respiratory failure who had undergone endotracheal intubation and invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV) between June 2017 and June 2020 at 4 different hospitals in China were included. A total of 296 patients were randomly divided into 2 groups. In group A, the patients were extubated and immediately placed on noninvasive ventilation (NIV) when the modified GCS score reached 13. In group B, the same was done when the modified GCS score reached 15. RESULTS: No significant differences in the mean blood pressure, oxygenation index, arterial partial pressure of oxygen, and arterial partial pressure of carbon dioxide were seen between groups A and B before extubation and 3 hours after NIV. The re-intubation times were also similar in the 2 groups. Compared to group B, the length of hospital stay, incidence of ventilator associated pneumonia, and time of invasive ventilation were all significantly lower in group A (P = .041, .001, <.001). CONCLUSION: Using a modified GCS score of 13 as the criterion for switching from IMV to NIV can significantly reduce the duration of IMV, length of hospital stay, and incidence of ventilator associated pneumonia in COPD patients with respiratory failure.

Purpose: Short-term spinal cord stimulation (st-SCS) has been widely used to treat herpetic-related neuralgia (HN) in China for several years, but is still heavily debated as it has no strong evidence in clinical application. Therefore, a questionnaire survey among the Chinese pain specialist workgroup of the Chinese Neuromodulation Society and Chinese Medical Doctor Association was carried out to achieve a consensus about the clinical use of st-SCS for HN treatment. Methods: The contents of the questionnaire include basic information about doctors (hospital level, work experience, training, procedure numbers, etc.), efficacy, indications, and contraindications of st-SCS, operation conditions, and preoperative preparation of st-SCS, and the prospect of the st-SCS procedure. Initially, the survey was conducted on 110 experts who have practiced the st-SCS procedure from all over the provinces in China. Finally, valuable data was calculated from the 110 questionnaires excluding the doctors with <1 year of experience of st-SCS, <10 cases of procedures per year, and no standard training in SCS technique. Results: Based on the 110 questionnaires, it is estimated that 5,000 to 10,000 cases of electrical stimulation are carried out nationwide each year. Sixty-nine valid questionnaires acquired from senior pain physicians were more valuable and specialized in the efficacy, indications, and contraindications of st-SCS for HN. It was commonly agreed (97.10%) that the HN patients with <3 months will obtain good effectiveness (patient satisfaction rate ≥50%). Almost all (98.55%) agreed that st-SCS can be used in SHN patients, there was a common agreement (72.46%) that AHN patients are an indication of st-SCS, and more than half agreement (53.62%) that st-SCS may be fit for early PHN (3-6 months). A common agreement (79.71%) was achieved that more than half of HN patients had the experience of nerve block or nerve pulsed RF. A similarly large number of experts 57/69 (82.61%) agreed that an 80% paresthesia coverage should be achieved at the test stimulation and 57/69 (82.61%) agreed that the treatment of st-SCS need be persistent for 1-2 weeks. Conclusions: Early HN patients can get an effective outcome from the treatment of st-SCS and maybe the indication of st-SCS. Moreover, standardized training for pain physicians and basic research and clinical studies are warranted.

Neutrophils constitute the largest proportion of nucleated peripheral blood cells, and neutrophils have substantial heterogeneity. We profiled nearly 300,000 human peripheral blood cells in this study using single-cell RNA sequencing. A large proportion (>50%) of these cells were annotated as neutrophils. Neutrophils were further clustered into four subtypes, including Neu1, Neu2, Neu3, and Neu4. Neu1 is characterized by high expression of MMP9, HP, and RGL4. Neu1 was associated with septic shock and significantly correlated with the sequential organ failure assessment (SOFA) score. A gene expression module in Neu1 named Neu1_C (characterized by expression of NFKBIA, CXCL8, G0S2, and FTH1) was highly predictive of septic shock with an area under the curve of 0.81. The results were extensively validated in external bulk datasets by using single-cell deconvolution methods. In summary, our study establishes a general framework for studying neutrophil-related mechanisms, prognostic biomarkers, and potential therapeutic targets for septic shock.

Patients with breast cancer frequently experience psychological distress. This study aimed to investigate the effect of narrative nursing on middle-aged patients with breast cancer. In all, 82 patients with breast cancer admitted to the Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University were divided into two groups, namely, the observation group and the control group, by simple random sampling, with 41 cases in each group. The patients in both groups were treated with breast cancer surgery. Additionally, the control group received routine nursing, whereas the observation group received narrative nursing based on the control group. After 8 weeks of nursing, the SAS (self-rating anxiety scale) and SDS (self-rating depression scale) scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group (P < 0.01). At the same time, the result of family hardiness showed that the patients with narrative nursing performed better in commitment, challenge, and control (P < 0.01). In conclusion, narrative nursing can alleviate the postoperative shame and negative emotions of patients with breast cancer and improve their quality of life.

BACKGROUND: Suicide becomes a widespread public health concern. Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is used to correct negative thoughts and behaviors of patients at risk of suicide. The aim of this research is to summarize and evaluate the existing evidence to explore the impact of CBT on suicide. METHOD: We conducted a systematic searched in PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane database from the first available year to March 2021. The methodological quality was evaluated by AMSTAR-2 tool, and the evidence quality was evaluated by GRADE classification. We summarized all the comparative effects of CBT on suicide, and used forest plots to describe the impact of CBT on suicide related outcomes included suicidal ideation, suicide attempts. The random effects model was used to summarize data. RESULTS: Nine systematic reviews and meta-analysis were included. Most of the systematic reviews and meta-analysis were of medium methodological and evidence quality. The impact of CBT on suicide outcomes could be divided into the following two categories: CBT reduced levels of suicidal ideation (SMD -0.28, 95 % CI -0.36 to -0.21), CBT relieved suicide attempts (RR 0.77, 95 % CI 0.69 to 0.87). CONCLUSION: Based on the current evidence, CBT could relieve suicide, including suicide ideation, suicide attempts. CBT is scalable and cost-effective. It is helpful for health professionals to formulate personalized CBT programs, promote clinical and community applications and integrate them into comprehensive suicide interventions and prevention strategies.

This study aimed to investigate the impacts of small nucleolar RNA host gene 11 (SNHG11) on nuclear factor kappa-B (NF-κB) pathway polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMN) apoptosis in rats with endotoxin-induced acute lung injury (ALI). Forty rats were the experimental subjects. They were randomly grouped as a control group (Group C), an endotoxin group (Group E), an inhibitor group (Group I), and an activator group (Group A), with 10 rats in each group. The endotoxin-educed ALI rat model was built. Arterial Blood Gas Test (ABGT) was performed, and the Wet/Dry (W/D) ratio of lung weight was determined. The pathological variations in rat pulmonary tissues were scrutinized and scored. PMN in peripheral blood was isolated; its apoptosis was assessed, and its total NF-κB p65 and p-NF-κB p65 expressions were assessed. The expression of SNHG11 mRNA in pulmonary tissues was assessed. Results: Compared to Group C, the W/D ratios and pathological scores of Group E, Group I, and Group A boosted notably (P <0.05), while their ABGT indicators and PMN apoptosis rates dropped (P <0.05). Compared to Group E and Group I, the W/D ratio and pathological score of Group A dropped notably (P <0.05), while its ABGT indicators and PMN apoptosis rate boosted (P <0.05). Compared to Group C, the p-NF-κB p65 and SNHG11 expressions boosted in Group E, Group I, and Group A (P <0.05); compared to Group E and Group I, the p-NF-κB p65 and SNHG11 expressions in Group A dropped (P <0.05). SNHG11 could relieve endotoxin-induced ALI, which might be associated with the acceleration of PMN apoptosis and the inhibition of the NF-κB pathway.
